Lenovo in China have just chosen their beta testers to try out the first beta of Android 6 for the Lenovo K3 Note and Lenovo P1.

Over on the Chinese Lenovo Club forums fans have taken part in a competition to become beta testers for an Android 6 update for the Lenovo P1 and supremely popular Lenovo L3 Note smartphones.

K3 Note users have already stated testing Android 6 on their phones and have commented that battery life with the early update isn’t as good as they had experienced in the past but with such an early release this is only to be expected.

Xiaomi have confirmed that they will be launching their flagship Xiaomi Mi5 on the 24th Feb!

It’s been a long haul for fans of Xiaomi’s flagship products, but finally the date we have been waiting for has been confirmed. Xiaomi today released their plans to launch the Xiaomi Mi5 on the 24th Feb.

Apparently the launch will take be spread over a 2 hour long presentation, so we assume the Xiaomi won’t just be launching the Xiaomi Mi5 at the event

You know the default Google search bar on an iPhone? It seems Google paid Apple a sum of $1billion in 2014 to maintain the Google search bar presence.



Also, any revenue made from Google ads shown on an iPhone will be shared between the two. Even though the split ratio is not stated, Bloomberg reports that the revenue share at one point was 34%, but we don’t know if that is Google or Apple’s share.


Another report also suggests that Google might have done the same for other platforms. So anytime you see a default Google search bar on other platforms, just know that money must have been deployed to make that possible.

Android devices in China are required by law to not have Google’s services, including the app store (aka Google Play) and such.
According to reports, Lenovo’s mobile head, Chen Xudong, feels 2016 is the year when Google could finally break in to one of the largest phone markets in the world.
Xudong suggests that it is pretty evident that Google has been eyeing penetration into the Chinese market, it’ll most likely be this year when it happens.
For now, phones in China are shipped with app marketplaces installed by the respective OEMs instead of a unified Google Play store.
That said, there’s still an official word pending from Google about this. Knowing how companies with a scale as large as Google operate, we might not see an announcement until Goole Play actually comes to China

Officially announced last week and finally listed with full specs today, the Elephone W2 gets impressive claimed battery life.

You do remember the mlais note right ? Well the company is about foraying into the smart watch market.
Mlais about to unveil an Android Wear

This time last year Mlais were one of the most talked about phone makers with their MT6752 equipped Mlais M52. Though the brand has disappeared from view in recent months, an update on their Facebook page suggests they will be back in action soon.
Mlais launched a bunch of phones last year from budget devices to large battery phones, but just as the brand was making traction they suddenly fell silent. Those of you who are following Mlais and their Facebook page though, will know that they do update fans once in a while and they are promising a new product soon.

According to Mlais they are now working on a wearable which runs Android Wear. Their device will feature a round display and metal body and they have posted a few renders of it with different faces.
The full specifics aren’t revealed yet, and we wonder if Mlais really means their watch will run Android Wear or a cut down version of Android OS (this seems to be a common mistake that Chinese brands are making). We’ve reached out to Mlais for comment and will update you all when we have more details.
