The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, Dr. Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah, yesterday emerged as Labour Party’s (LP’s) candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State. He says, among others, industrialisation is a panacea to the unemployment and security issues in the state. In this interview with TUNDE AKINOLA, the businessman promised to make empowerment of youths and women pivotal to his administration if elected as the governor. WHY are you contesting the November gubernatorial election in Anambra State? I believe the interest of my people can be better represented than the way it is at the moment. I see politics as a commitment to serve my people. Having succeeded in business I think the next thing to do is to empower my people by adding values to their lives. We have been doing this through the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation, but being in government will give me a better chance to effect more positive changes. My people are the most commercialised people on earth, we are the Jews of the black nation; but it is pitiable that poor level of industrialisation in the state impinges on their productivity. I believe being in government can give me the chance to industrialise the state so as to enhance the people’s productive capacity. Many people are supporting their people. For instance, if you go to the Niger Delta you find out the youths there are enjoying the benefits of the amnesty programme. Other successive governments from the North have also empowered their people in one way or the other but my people have never enjoyed this opportunity. I am not jealous of them because I believe we are all brothers, I just believe my people should be give a kind of boost to empower them. If God has given us trade and commerce, we should also be given the opportunity to excel in it. This opportunity can be achieved through government. It is disturbing that a country like Nigeria still imports stuffs like toothpicks, brush, matches and so on. Why can’t we tap into this avenues and ask those importing the stuffs to stop and give way for the ones produced by our people. We need an industrial revolution. In a whole state you don’t even know the people building the people the roads and the government would say they are building roads and they don’t even know how many employments the road construction has generated. They you ask, do we really need the roads? Yes, we do but why do we have to bring Lebanese or Chinese contractors to do what people from the rural areas can do? We can employ youths to mould interlocking stones and lay. This can generate up to 10,500 jobs if we employ 500 youths in the state’s 21 local government. These are roads that have stood the test of time. In my street in Omole Estate in Lagos, where I live, I built the road with interlocking stones since five years now and there is no single porthole there up till now. The street even won the best street in Lagos in 2011. I did the same in my street in Nnewi in Anambra, even when the government didn’t want to construct the road. I am not only building my street, I am building more than eight roads in my village singlehandedly. I don’t speak what I don’t preach what I don’t practise because I am a very practical person. If government cannot come to my aid, it is my responsibility to take care of my people. I wish I had enough to continue doing this so I can cater for everybody. Before going into government we must show what we are capable of doing. Look at the number of people coming in wanting to be governor. You can even tell their addresses talkless of knowing their means of livelihood. You cannot borrow to become a governor. We all need to be transparent. Let the people know where you are getting the money you want to use to contest the election. These are the issues bothering me and the moment you don’t take this seriously we will lose another eight years chasing after the wind. I am in a state where you see youths everyday dying without reason. Not only youths, a former deputy governor died. If such things happen in a civilised state the governor would retire. It is sad that a state known for commerce has no important industry. The president has visited our state several times without commissioning any industry, so what are we talking about? Who are they deceiving? The other time he came to commission our port and I personally believe River Niger can never be dredged and I can challenge anybody in this country on this. River Niger is almost at the bottom of River Congo so there will always be surge of sand. I believe God created River Niger for the people of Anambra to build their houses and develop the state and not for containers to come. I challenge anybody that can give Anambra port in the next 10 years, so that is not an option for me. I am a practical human being. I own one of the biggest ports in the country today so I can talk from experience and facts. The president is a good man who means well for the people but he cannot be everywhere, which is why the governors are there to help him. The worst is the present security challenge in the country; it baffles me. So I think the president needs real partners that can help him and that is why Ifeanyi Ubah is contesting to the governorship post of Anambra State to build not only the state, but to build Nigeria together. What is your vision for Anambra and how do you intend to industrialise the state? My vision for Anambra is to establish a secure environment where people and industry can develop and flourish. My agenda shall largely focus on human capital development, creation of jobs, tackling security challenges in state, boosting agriculture and integrating the development of the different parts of the state. I have a very strong link with the Chinese government. If you remember a time China experienced an earthquake, I was the only Nigerian that supported the Chinese government through the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation. I gave them donation then, so I was invited by the Chinese government on a state visit to seek for what they can also do for me. I am glad that today my people have been trained in China linguistically and as industrial attachment to the country. I am happy I am helping my people in one way or the other. Apart from that, the potentials we have to tap from China can never be overemphasised. I went to China because I know it is a world economic hub and a lot of my people are there in their millions. I know I stand to gain a lot for my people through the partnership between Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation and the Chinese government. Because of that we are looking into China as a strong partner progress in my quest to industrialise Anambra State. We can tap into their offshore banks to give us unconditional grants to support us. Anambra is responsible for over 60 per cent of the trade between Nigeria and China and once this is established we know what we can gain. We will also establish that we are superpowers in the area of commerce even if we don’t have oil. I believe Anambra, within the next two years, can be Nigeria’s industrial hub. On agriculture we have been blessed with River Niger, all we need is for government to support farmers, irrigate the farmlands and then start cropping. We will empower a lot of our youths through that. We will mix with both local and international partners to help develop the agricultural sector. In the last seven and a half years there has not been water in the taps of Anambra, this we will fix too. I also believe that if we look into the statistics of Environmental Impact Assessment there is much to this issue of boreholes. It is an invitation to earthquake if not checkmated. So there is need for us to see how we can even fill them, then go through the water that God has given us through the streams. We can use that revive our respective water boards in Anambra State. When elected governor, my government will create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths so that criminals and criminality will be greatly reduced in the state the increasing wave of crime and criminality in Anambra is rooted mainly in the fact that the great number of our youths are unemployed. Our government will put an end to various social vices and menace through massive job creation. My administration will support industries and tap into the productive capabilities of the different parts of our state as well as provide large-scale support to small cottage industries and businesses. We have a master plan that will create at least, 40,000 jobs both in public and private sectors every year. Our industrial revolution will create the enabling environment for private businesses to flourish and employ our unemployed youths. Our massive infrastructural undertakings will keep our people meaningfully engaged. Why did you choose LP as a platform to contest the governorship polls? I sincerely believe that I want to take up a new challenge and I have always been on a developed platform and it has not worked because by the time you want to do certain things people will come and block you because they see themselves as small gods. I chose LP because I discovered that there is no sincerity in most of the available political parties because this is my first time in politics. I would have loved to contest on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but looking at my brothers and superpowers in the party, I know that one man will take the mantle so I decided to respect them by being on the clear side which is LP. There are up to 19 aspirants in the PDP and only one man will emerge as the candidate of the party. Some of them might even come and help me here in LP. I want them to keep jostling for the ticket while I consolidate my power. So by the time I consolidate with some of those that did not emerge I would have gained a lot from them. I want to also say, with due respect, I am aligned with the ideology of LP. It is the only party in Nigeria that has international affiliation. I want to take my people to the promise land, so when I go to London or China I can talk to the LP there. The philosophy of the party is to work and enjoy. Also, the logo of LP has a human face. I believe LP is a right platform for me to achieve my goals because I am on a divine mission. I am not in the race for power. If God says it will be the let it be; and if He says otherwise, who am I to challenge Him? I am just content with all I am today because I am from a very humble background. What specific plans do you have for women and youths that constitute a larger percentage of your supporters? Everything about this movement is about women and the youths. The women need to be empowered. We have to help them to give birth freely, we have to sustain the women ministry in the state. The youths will be empowered too. Reorientation of the youths can never be over emphasised. We will change the perception of our youths. Like I said, our rural roads must be built by the youths. We will not give our roads construction to any fictitious contractors. We want our youth to graduate from rural roads to building the highways. It our legacy, we have to build our roads ourselves through our youths. Foreigners would build the roads, as they like so that they can be called to fix them again when they are spoilt. We will build industries in every local government so we can reduce the dependence on allocation from the Federal Government. We want our councils to have their own economies so they can be able to develop at their own pace. I want Anambra to pride itself, as the first to have a state refinery and that will give my people jobs, especially the youths. Can you shed light on your encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission? In this country it is he who goes first to the media and sustains the media hype that is assumed to be innocent. But when we go to court, which is that last hope of the common man, it is a different ball game. I do not have money to spend on the media; I believe if I go to the court and state my position, you should also be able to counter my claims. The judge is not a foolish man, all these things you hear are mere political victimisation. Unfortunately, that is one of the things we have to go and correct. An international agency said our documents were forged and I think they have the right to charge me, but I think they should have consulted me but I went for my right. The same company that said we forged documents has said it is not so again. I would have claimed damages to my name and close them internationally. Assignation of my character cannot be bought with money. They tendered apology and said what they gave the EFCC was wrong. Police investigated me, including punishing me and putting me in the detention. I thank God I found justice. At the end of the day they said I am cleared, but still, somebody somewhere doesn’t want to clear me. We are bleeding in this country and someone must say it. We are following the trend of government policies at Capital Oil. Overseas, government changes policies to favour the private sector but here in Nigeria when government changes policies they continue to build hardship on businesses and nobody talks. The only thing that can talk is the ballot box. I know God will bring a messiah one day, it might not be me. All I want to do is to help my people whether I am in government of not. If things are happening like this, people in business should go into politics to make a difference.

Court Lifts Ubah's Suspension, Orders PDP to Accept Him as Flagbearer The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja friday reversed the suspension of Senator Andy Uba, his brother, Chris Ubah from the Peoples Democratic Party. This is as another Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State issued a fresh order for the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to receive the result of the Mr. Ejike Oguebego-led faction of the party which declared Senator Andy Uba winner of the PDP primaries in the state. Justice R.A Mohammed lifted the suspension at the resumed hearing of the case filed by the Ubahs and three others. Chris Ubah is a member, Board of Trustees of the PDP, while Andy presently a senator is aspiring to run for the office of the Anambra State Governor on the platform of the PDP. Other members of the party who had their suspension lifted by the court are: Benji Udeozor, Ejike Oguegebo, and Anthonia Nwakwu. The order for the PDP to recognise Uba as the dully nominated flag bearer of the party was sequel to a complaint of the lead Plaintiff Counsel, Mr. Jude Nnodim that despite an earlier order of the court for Uba to be taken as the flag bearer of PDP in Anambra State, the party went ahead to issue certificate of return and filed the name of Tony Nwoye as the party flag bearer in the election. A miffed Justice J. Nganjiwa who had on August 28 restrained INEC and PDP from recognising the outcome of the primaries conducted by Emekayi faction after listening to Nnodim, asked Oguebego faction to submit the result of the primaries to INEC and PDP. Inspite of the defence mounted by counsel to PDP, Mr. Tagbo Ike who explained that Uba and others were suspended for failing to honour an invitation and therefore had nothing to do with refusing to obey the court, the judge was not persuaded, insisting that whether a court order was right or wrong, it had to be obeyed. The court order lifting their suspension will be in place pending the determination of their case. Justice Mohammed gave the order after the counsel to the PDP, Chief Clems Ezika asked for an adjournment because he was just served with the originating summons in court earlier in the morning. The lawyer told the court that going by the rules of the court he had three days to respond. He prayed the court for an adjournment so as to enable him respond to the processes. However, counsel to the plaintiffs, Taiwo Abe opposed the application for adjournment stating that the respondents had despite the pending court action, gone ahead to suspend the plaintiffs. In his ruling, Justice Mohammed held that the cause of adjournment was that the order to come and show cause was not served on the counsel. He further held that a party who had been invited to come and show cause could not go ahead to carry out an act which would render the order of the court an academic exercise. The court noted that the first defendant (PDP) had shown to be over reaching the court order adding that any action that had a colouration of sanction against the applicants was a deviation from the court order. The Judge ruled: "I thereby make an interim order suspending the suspension of the plaintiffs from the party pending the determination of the motion on notice." He consequently, fixed September 5 for hearing of the motion on notice

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko with Hon. Samuel Adesina (left), and other supporters at the governor's lodge • Gov: It's a vindication of people's will • NGF congratulates gov for victory • Oke: It was a brazen defeat of expectations Tobi Soniyi, Chuks Okocha in Abuja and James Sowole in Akure
The Supreme Court thursday affirmed the election of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko as the elected governor of Ondo State in the October 20, 2012 gubernatorial election. Both the Ondo State Governorship Election Tribunal and the Court of Appeal had earlier upheld the governor’s victory over the candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and Chief Olusola Oke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, who delivered the lead judgment in the case of Akeredolu, rejected the allegation of the ACN candidate that the voters’ register used for the poll was manipulated. The apex court held that the governorship candidate failed to produce the alleged manipulated voters’ register in court and also failed to show whether the 100,000 voters allegedly injected into the voters’ register engaged in multiple voting or any other malpractices. Besides, the court held that Akeredolu could not substantiate how the alleged injection of new voters into the register substantially affected the election to warrant its cancellation as requested in his petition. Justice Ngwuta held that even if the 100,000 voters allegedly injected into the register had voted and counted for the ACN candidate, he would still not have been declared winner because Mimiko floored him in the poll with over 100,000 votes. The court said Akeredolu’s claim on voters’ register manipulation was strange, having claimed in his petition that the voters’ register was not made available to him and was not published or displayed in the public. The court, therefore, held that his petition was baseless having been founded on hearsay and was dismissed without any cost. Akeredolu had petitioned the election of Mimiko, asking that he be declared the winner because he scored the highest majority votes. In the alternative, he urged the court to cancel the election for a fresh one but the state election petition tribunal and the Court of Appeal had earlier dismissed the petition for lacking in merit prompting him to approach the apex court to reverse the two earlier judgments. In another judgment of the apex court yesterday delivered by Justice Mary Peter Odili, the petition of Olusola Oke of PDP was also dismissed. Justice Odili held that the candidate of PDP failed to prove how the alleged illegal entry of new voters into the register used for the election affected the credibility of the election. The court further held that most of the complaints of the second appellant were criminal in nature which ought to have been referred to security agents for action. Supreme Court had had to break its yearly vacation temporarily to hear the case in order to beat the 60-day period allowed by the constitution for the determination of appeals on election matters. Reacting to the judgment, Mimiko described it as a vindication of his position that the people of the state actually voted for him during the election. The governor, who addressed the people of the state at the Democracy Park in the heart of Akure, the state capital, said the victory was a call for him to serve the people of the state better. He said if the judgment had gone otherwise, it would have been a disservice to democracy in Nigeria because both the local and international observers had adjudged the election as the best in the country. He commended the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloma Mukhtar for recalling the justices of the Supreme Court from vacation to hear the case and clear insinuations that would have arrived if the case had lapsed. “This is the first time in the 50 years of judiciary in Nigeria that the Supreme Court justices would be recalled from vacation to hear any case and one of the justices flew in from Australia because of the matter. “The judgment had reaffirmed the confidence of Nigerians in the ability of the nation’s judiciary to act appropriately and timely because it would had been another thing if the case has lapsed,” he said. While calling on the people that contested against him to join hands with him in the task of moving the state forward, Mimiko said the job at hand is enormous and that any lover of the state should cooperate to do. Meanwhile, the Governor Chibuike Amaechi faction of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has congratulated Mimiko over the Supreme Court ruling. The forum, in a statement signed by the Director General, A.B. Asishana, said the ruling of the seven-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Walter Onoghene, was a landmark decision and a plus for the judiciary and the Nigerian democracy. According the forum, said, “The ruling of the judgment in this case shows that the Nigerian judiciary has indeed come of age.” The governors’ forum praised the Ondo State governor for standing firm and remaining undaunted while the case lasted and charged him to remain committed to the people and to ensure the delivery of true development through democracy to the people of the state. It also called on the Supreme Court to stay steadfast in anticipation of several other pre-election and post-election cases as the journey moved towards 2015. However, dissatisfied with the judgment, Oke said the court's verdict has obviously prevented the mission of good governance he has for the people of the state. Oke, in a statement signed by him and made available to journalists said: “This final ruling marks the end of a titanic battle to challenge and invalidate the result of what we are convinced was a heavily compromised and highly flawed October 20 2012 governorship election." “This Supreme Court judgment constitutes a brazen defeat of the expectations of the people of Ondo State who had desired light after four years of total darkness. It also demonstrates a serious shatter to the sensibilities of the people who had expected a lease from the shackles of poverty, want, disease, unemployment and frustration." While thanking his supporters and the entire PDP members in the state, Oke charged them to "keep the peace and walk tall through the rest of the days ahead,” he said.
Does conducting primary guaranty a credible candidate? It is better to have good candidate presented through consensus by party's leaders with due consideration of all odds than having a deceptive primary which the result is predetermined by some forces or where highest bidder/investor emerged. Just my opinion. [quote/]conducting primaries does not guarantee a credible candidate but it gives the people an opportunity to put a check on the popularity and efficiency of a particular candidate,it is also in accordance to democracy where the people would have the power to make choices. |
hushmail: my man i totally agree with everything you said apart from the vote Labour Party.a very fat lie |
desgiezd: Why all these fuss? APC is not the only party that is fielding candidates for the up-coming election, likewise Ngige is not the only aspirant. Its really a matter of choice.read the topic very well you'll find out hw ngige and his cohorts wanted to sideline their party primaries in disobedience to democracy and enter the november 16 guber election through the window,my dear we dont want godfatherism again because its a canker worm eating up the heart of the supposed anambra political development. |
in the face of the transparent governorship primary elections in Anambra State, in other political parties, the state was thrown into mourning on August 21, 2013 when it was announced that Senator Chris Ngige has been presented as consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 16 election. This was mainly so because no primaries have been held to select the candidate of the party, This is moreso since, on August 22, almost all the newspapers that circulated in Anambra state that day had a picture of Chief Bisi Akande, interim national chairman of APC and Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State raising Ngige’s hand as the party’s candidate. As expected, some aggrieved and disappointed party members had troop out to demonstrate in some parts of Anambra State, as they condemn the APC for not allowing primary election to take place, before pronouncing Ngige as the candidate. Some of their placards read: “APC is not democratic; APC, you have shot yourself on the legs; Ngige is not our choice; APC give us primary election; We will swim or sink with Godwin Ezeemo’ Please save Anambra now; Ngige, don’t enter house through the window; Abuja can’t choose for us; Ngige come home and face us in the primary; We don’t want sponsored governor in Anambra State again and Godwin Ezeemo talk now,” When Godwin Ezeemo released a statement demanding a primary election, the aggrieved people felt that something will be done. And it’s more gratifying that the APC has decided to hold primary election on Monday, September 2. My advice is: Ngige should come back to Anambra State to test his popularity with the people, in a free and fair election. Ngige must think less of these greedy sponsors, as Anambra can’t progress with that. Ngige must understand that Anambra governorship is not a do or die affair. To all politicians, do not mortgage Anambra to these heartless moneybags again. Anambra people must reject all form of godfatherism. We must learn from what happened in 2003. |
Oil magnate, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, yesterday emerged Labour Party’s candidate for the November 16, 2013 Anambra State governorship election. In the party’s primary election held at Emmaus House, Awka and conducted by the National Working Committee of the party led by its national chairman, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, Ubah emerged victorious with the unanimous votes of the 1,137 delegates. Before the election commenced, the national chairman announced to the delegates that three aspirants paid and collected nomination forms, but that at the end of the time given for the return of nomination forms and fees, only Dr Ubah returned his form with the fee, thereby making him the only aspirant for the election. He however, said that going by the constitution of the party, the primary election must still be held for the one aspirant and could be done according to Article 24 of the party’s constitution that stipulates either by voice votes, show of hand or secret ballot, whichever the national chairman adopts. Consequently, Nwanyanwu opted for show of hand and called for those in support of Ubah’s candidacy among the 1,137 delegates to show their hands and affirm with a voice vote, and all raised their hands in affirmation, thereby giving Ubah a unanimous victory. In his acceptance speech, Ubah alleged that Anambra State had failed in almost all the sectors despite the present government’s claims of developing all sectors simultaneously. He said his priority, if elected governor of the state would be to stop insecurity in the state, saying he would do so by creating jobs. He said: “Let me make a point clear, I have no godfather; what I have is father God the Almighty. Anambra must change by force, whether they like it or not. It is not about me, it is about Ndi Anambra this time around. I want to tell you that by electing me to be your candidate for the forthcoming election in Anambra State, I will not fail Ndi Anambra and by the grace of God I will not fail Nigeria. One of my priorities if I am elected governor of Anambra State is to chase away insecurity, we are going to create jobs and bring what we call employment revolution in Anambra State. |
Hello, you are the one that needs to update his brain. The court merely restrained Access Bank from going after Capital Oil's properties. They did not say Ifeanyi Ubah was not owing the bank. Neither did they claim that he had not defrauded the Coscharis boss. There is no nothing in the court's judgement that forbade ordinary Nigerians from discussing the case or requesting Ifeanyi Ubah to repay a loan he had taken and defaulted in paying back. So what is your problem? Has Ifeanyi Ubah paid you to become his internet warrior? Why deny the fact that the man is a chronic debtor that has failed to honour his financial obligations? In another country, he would have been compelled to file for bankruptcy. More than 100 persons brought in from Lagos State; Jos, the Plateau State capital; and other parts of the country to register as voters in Anambra State in the ongoing voters revalidation exercise were on Sunday arrested and detained by the police in the state. Also arrested were two members of the Independent National Electoral Commission ad hoc staff who were the registration and assistant registration officers for Unit 013, Ovala Square, Igbariam. They are National Youth Service Corps members recruited to register voters during the revalidation exercise. The police also impounded two luxurious buses that were used to bring the arrested voters from Lagos and Jos for the exercise. INEC had last week disclosed that there w ere 93,000 fake voters in Anambra State. The 'imported voters,' who were arrested at Igbariam, Anambra East Local Government Area said they had been mobilised and brought in to register by the Ifeanyi Ubah Fan Club, a political group made up of the supporters of Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah, one of the governorship aspirants for the November 16 election in the state. One of the detainees, Mr. Bonaventure Ofieli, who said he was a trader based in Jos, said the Ifeanyi Ubah Fan Club in Jos had provided them with the fund for their trip to Anambra State to register for the election. He said he hailed from Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State. Ubah is a governorship aspirant of the Labour Party. The party is due to hold its primaries on Wednesday in Awka, the Anambra State capital. But the Director-General of the Ifeanyi Ubah Campaign Organisation, Chief Dan Ulasi, criticised the arrest of the voters, saying there was nothing wrong in mobilising registered voters to come home to vote. He said the innocent citizens were being unnecessarily punished for offering to obey a national call to exercise their franchise. He said the organisation might go to court to seek remedy for the detained persons. The Chairman of Anambra East Local Government, Mr. Chinedu Obidigwe, said his attention had been drawn to the registration unit in front of the palace of the traditional ruler of Igbariam, Igwe N.N. Kelly by locals, who claimed to have noticed strange faces about to get registered. He said on getting to the unit, he interviewed the strangers, who admitted that they were brought in to register as voters but that they were not residing in the area. who is that intruder, that has been arresting umu anambra that came home to register for their voters card and right, please if you're Nigerian you should know that the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 chapter(4) section(40) states that Every person shall be entitled to assemble freely and associate with other persons, and in particular he may form or belong to any political party, trade union or any other association for the protection of his interests. its their civic right to register and chose who would rule and develop anambra for them when the time of election comes,so as to avoid more deportation of igbo destitutes from other states, just like what the lagos state government did the other day by deporting anambra indegines which senator Chris ngige supported and now he wants to rule anambra state, yet nobody questioned his utterances and non-challant attitude to his own people at their time of distress GOD FORBID !!!. please we should praise whom ever supported umu anambra financially to come home to carry out their civic right, whom ever that did it is a true igbo leader. in situations such as this during INEC or NATIONAL CENSUS registration the hausa leaders do provide their people in the east, west and south with trailers to go back home and register. then why should our own become story in front page of news papers. please we would love to be educated on any law or by-law restraining indigenes from coming back home to register and vote for a candidate of their choice. |
Youngzedd: More than 100 persons brought in from Lagos State; Jos, the Plateau State capital; and other parts of the country to register as voters in Anambra State in the ongoing voters revalidation exercise were on Sunday arrested and detained by the police in the state.who is that intruder, that has been arresting umu anambra that came home to register for their voters card and right, please if you're Nigerian you should know that the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 chapter(4) section(40) states that Every person shall be entitled to assemble freely and associate with other persons, and in particular he may form or belong to any political party, trade union or any other association for the protection of his interests. its their civic right to register and chose who would rule and develop anambra for them when the time of election comes,so as to avoid more deportation of igbo destitutes from other states, just like what the lagos state government did the other day by deporting anambra indegines which senator Chris ngige supported and now he wants to rule anambra state, yet nobody questioned his utterances and non-challant attitude to his own people at their time of distress GOD FORBID !!!. please we should praise whom ever supported umu anambra financially to come home to carry out their civic right, whom ever that did it is a true igbo leader. in situations such as this during INEC or NATIONAL CENSUS registration the hausa leaders do provide their people in the east, west and south with trailers to go back home and register. then why should our own become story in front page of news papers. please we would love to be educated on any law or by-law restraining indigenes from coming back home to register and vote for a candidate of their choice. |
juman: He can go to the senate.thats by the way |
planetuzor: @OP: Why u saying this rubbishwhat rubbish if i may ask |
mens dept: All this turmoil is a result of having leaders like Umeh who wants to be chairman for 10 yearsmy broda dats the problem revolving round anambra politics every officer wants to grow old in office infact make it a heredity if possible and transfer to their children while they sideline the constitution that is the engine room of politics anambra politics has to be rewritten and the likes of Umeh who thinks political office is now a family business should be flushed out so that anambra politics can breathe a breath of fresh air |
mikeansy: this is the kind of mentality destroying Nigeriamy broda thats franchise ure talking about its true but wat am saying is that anambra politics took a new ground since the likes of peter obi and his cohorts came to lime light its obvious that soludo has what it takes to rule anambra but does he have what it takes to become a remote controlled ruler who is ready to sell anambra's right to placate political demons who call themselves godfathers its foolish to know the bee stings but yet live under its hive. its about checks and balances he should have done some sort of calculation before falling into the hands of political fire quenchers |
mikeansy: Our constitution made provision for us to approach the court to either enforce or determine whether our rights are being trampled upon which is what Soludo has done here. The outcome of the court verdict is a debate for another day but to approach the court when you disagree with others is as civil and democratic as anyone can be.cant u see that the table of politics has turned against soludo the best antics he would have improvised is his economical knowhow instead of gallivanting in the euphoria of politics when he knws dat his life is strapped to economics |
I'm beginning to doubt Prof Soludo CV. The Federal High Court Sitting at Abuja yesterday struck out Prof Soludo case against APGA. I guess some shameless Nigerians will suggest the unthinkable or possibility theories as usual, that the Federal High Court he approached unannounced acted on ''Presidential directives''. Ladys and Gents kindly advise Prof Soludo to prioritize his struggle. Let him apply elementary economics as he studied and not Nigerian factor or politics. ewu anaghi ahapu ji taba nsi |
APC purported consensus candidate. Anambra belongs to Anambra residence and not non residence or homeless destitutes in the state like Tinubu, Fashola, Rauf, Rochas, and ors in APC. In my respectful view it is difficult to see or call the newly formed APC democratic party in absence of free and transparent primaries election between Senator Chris Ngige and Chief Godwin Ezeemo. God forbid Tinubu, Fashola, Rauf, Buhari Rochas , and ors will never decide for Ndi - Anambra. We must reject this modern day abuse or insult to our collective intelligence with our votes come Nov 16. Election fraudster Ngige will suffer fourth Governorship defeat in a roll. Okwa Madu nwe ogodo ewu na ata .................? Vote LABOUR PARTY for civility , peace and ofcourse Consolidation. |
