@eomajeh and others that mentioned me earlier
Prophesying as the prophets of old did is one thing; trying to understand what has already been prophesied by them is another.

Jehovah's are guilty of having wrong expectation in those already stated prophecy in attempt to understand them Just like spirit-led Jesus' apostles. cheesy

I agree with the points you have here
Despite being directed by Jesus and the Holy Spirit, the apostles were still guilty of having wrong expectations…

While they were listening to these things, he told another illustration, because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the Kingdom of God was going to appear instantly. (Lu 19:11)

So when they had assembled, they asked him: “Lord, are you restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?” (Acts 1:6)

If the spirit-directed followers of Jesus Christ could reason inaccurately. Then surely an imperfect organization that openly admits they are not inspired prophets should be allowed to have the same inaccurate reasoning and wrong expectations as well.

However, these faithful men adjusted their reasoning when they came to accurate knowledge of God's word that Jesus was teaching them
. Likewise Jehovah's witnesses are willing to adjust and change in our effort to pursue the same truth and arrive at the same destination of accurate knowledge.

But your watchtower is saying that Jehovah's witnesses is a prophet and the issue I quoted emphatically stated that one of the duties of the prophet is to declare things to come. Whom should I believe? You or the watchtower?

Now re-read with emphasis on the highlighted.

[/img]

That you missed my explanation about this in the second OP post and one of my replies is something
Here we go again answering the same question.

Scripturally,A prophet is a person who receives specific messages from God by supernatural means (such as visions, dreams, the visit of an angel).
That's the definition of a Prophet people are familiar with. Actually the definition is wider!
In that sense, JWs are not Prophet!

Another definition of a prophet is someone that proclaim God's prophetic messages from the Bible. The share the already stated messages in the Bible.

Actually, it is an article in a 1972 Watchtower you misconstrued.
If you check the article, you can notice that we are compared with “prophets” (in inverted commas, mind you) metaphorically, because we publicly proclaim God’s message. Only that that message is the one in the Bible, not a personal divine revelation.

Today the organisation of Jehovah’s Witnesses act like a prophet in that we proclaim an old message, one that was written down in the pages of the Bible. We spread nothing new. The message is both one of good news of better times ahead as well as a warning message. This is similar to the roll that prophet Ezekiel had.
We have never made any false predictions. What we have been guilty of is misunderstanding some of the prophecies that relate to the “end times”

No member of the JWs wake up and said 'Oh! I had a dream and God reveals that..... blah blah ..." Yeah, that would be laughable because our belief is that such gift ends with the apostles.
But, those surmises are what they gave after Group study if the Bible and already stated prophecies in it. At that, they stated in their publications that

Jehovah’s Witnesses do not claim to be inspired prophets. They have made mistakes. Like the apostles of Jesus Christ, they have at times had some wrong expectations.

It ceased only with Jehovah's witnesses (or was never even there).

Yes! It ends in the era apostles after it had accomplished it purpose.
Jesus provided the key for identifying true Christians when he declared:
“Every good tree produces fine fruit.” (Matt. 7:17)
What fruits would true Christains produce to show they're producing the fine fruits?
Consider one;
"By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves,” said Jesus. (John 13:35)
True Christians have genuine love for one another.
They are not divided by racial, national or social prejudices. Even in times of war, they refuse to slaughter fellow believers in other lands.
Can you same the same with general or people that claims to have that gift today?

"So, does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come?

IDENTIFYING THE "PROPHET"
These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet?
... This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses.

... Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a "prophet" of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can be done is to review the record. Thus this group of anointed followers of Jesus Christ, doing a work in Christendom paralleling Ezekiel's work among the Jews, were manifestly the modern-day Ezekiel, the "prophet" commissioned by Jehovah to declare the good news of God's Messianic kingdom and to give warning to Christendom."

No, I will not call weather forecasters prophets because:
(i) they do not say the forecasts are "God's forecast, not theirs"
(ii) they do not claim that they are God's only channel of communication and that their forecasts are God's provided meat in due season for mankind
(iii) they do not represent people who do not accept their forecast as spiritually weak and lacking in faith

If weather forecasters do the above-listed, then they are very well representing themselves as prophets

Good!
You grabbed my point!
I'll not call Jehovah's witnesses are prophet also because
They never claim that they bring their surmises 'In the name of Jehovah'
They never claimed that they are inspired or their articles and surmises are inspired. They're are just giving out their understanding of their study in the Bible.
They are acknowledge that they're infallible and their surmises might be wrong also.

Now, you understand?

Jonosky, it is true that JWs can point to many quotations in their publications to the effect that they have always said they are not prophets, and that they are not infallible.
However, it is also true that in that Watchtower of 1972, it is said that the JWs are prophet. The article is clear in saying that:
This “prophet” was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah’s Christian witnesses. They are still proclaiming a warning…
If I get you well, you saying that the article put the word prophet in scare quotes is to say that some may view the JWs as acting like prophets (at least in some capacity), but the JWs themselves do not see themselves as prophets.
For argument’s sake, let’s dismiss that Watchtower of 1972. Then we’ll have no other published statement (at least, to my knowledge) that JWs are prophets, but there will remain numerous statements of them saying they do not give out prophesy, and that they are not infallible.

Take my advice. You don't need this stories, Jehovah's witnesses know what they believe and what is funny is when you're trying to tell us what our beliefs are cheesy.
Save yourself the stress of long history. I don't think any of us is interested.
I've given you the explanation to the article you misconstrued. We cannot force you to accept.

People like you will call weather reporter a prophet..Right?
They study the current atmosphere, temperature, humidity and Forecast the weather. Are they Prophet in that sense?
please, let's be civilised.
Jehovah's Witnesses studied the messages in the Bible aswell and gives their surmises .They even made it known that neither governing Body nor any other person today is a divinely inspired prophet.

So many times the 'weather forecasters' failed in their predictions. Can we call them a failed Prophets too?

Certainly, the reason why you keep saying that we consider ourselves prophets is that you wish we had that belief so that you could easily demonstrate that we are wrong.Nahhhh

So this gift of speaking in tongues has ceased?

Let me give you practical example of 'Knowledge' seeking today even when the gift is no more.

The word “tongues” in the New Testament is a translation of the Greek word “glossa”, and it means “language”.
'Tongues' is Shakespearian old English while 'Language' is a modern English.
Believe me, it's not the same as what is practice today.
In the Bible times, the person spoke in his native language, but the hearers heard in their native language. People with that gift then 'can speak in others native languages', it wasn't a mixture of incoherent words.
It was only a valid gift until completion of the Word of God, then it ceased (1 Corinthians 13:cool.

Haddeylium, did you say “never once has the Jehovahs Witnesses organization claimed to be prophets”?
In your defence, you brought up quotations from some old JW publications where they say “they have not the gift of prophecy”, “their writings should not be reverenced or regarded as infallible”, “their writings are not inspired as are those of Paul and other bible writers”, etc.

True, the JWs write that they are not giving out prophecies. However, I bet you do not know that in the April 1 1972 Watchtower, the JW call themselves a prophet. On page 197 of that Watchtower, in an article titled “They Shall Know that a Prophet Was Among Them”, a question is raised as to whether in modern times Jehovah God has had a prophet to help the people, “to warn them of dangers and declare things to come”.

If you read the first and second OP post slowly we won't be having this conversation.

Whether it be written or spoken, knowledge is gained by seeking. To know the scriptures is to seek knowledge.
If prophesy, speaking in tongues and knowledge has ceased a cording to you, then what knowledge do you have in the Scriptures?

You didn't get it.
People that have the gift of 'speaking in tongue ' do not need to learn the language before they can communicate the Gospel with it.
Likewise, the people that have gift of knowledge do not need to seek for Bible truths and God's will before they know it. They can do them miraculously
All of them including the gift of prophesy have ceases (1 Cor 13:cool. Today, sincere people can gain this knowledge by studying and researching God's word deeply with so many aids available today. Dictionary, corcondance, manuscript, translations and forth

Interesting topic @ OP!

Yes, people are often swift to label Jehovah’s Witnesses “false prophets” meanwhile they fail to realise that “prophecy” means an inspired utterance given under influence of divine will(holy spirit) so if Jehovah’s Witnesses have always claimed to be uninspired, then it means they aren’t prophets because like the Scriptures says, “presumptuousness is a grevious sin” (Psalm 19:13) and that is what they’re trying to avoid.

What can those criticizing the Witnesses have to say about the disciples of Jesus who did not fully understand all he was teaching even while Jesus was physically with them? Luke 19:11, 24:19-21,
That’s why Jesus had to correct them even though they had a misplaced understanding of God’s will at first. Luke 19:12-27, 24:25-27

So what really is at play here is that the Witnesses have the same zeal and fervour as the first century Christians and they also eagerly desire to see these prophecies fulfilled but they are not cast aside since Jesus never did that to his disciples!

Instead, Jehovah supplies his holy spirit to enable us to understand the prophecies that already recorded in the Scriptures (John 14:26) and this process of understanding is done gradually since Jehovah doesn’t just bombard his servants with all the knowledge at once(Ephesians 1:9,10) but so that his servants by means of holy spirit can be able to peer and search into the very “deep things of God” 1Corinthians 2:10

I agree with the points you have here
Despite being directed by Jesus and the Holy Spirit, the apostles were still guilty of having wrong expectations…

While they were listening to these things, he told another illustration, because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the Kingdom of God was going to appear instantly. (Lu 19:11)

However, these faithful men adjusted their reasoning when they came to accurate knowledge of God's word that Jesus was teaching them
. Likewise Jehovah's witnesses are willing to adjust and change in our effort to pursue the same truth and arrive at the same destination of accurate knowledge.

Amazing how you dodged the questions I raised from the very scripture you quoted.

Thought you would grasp it with the summary .

'Speaking in tongue'?
The phrase are old English word. In modern English, the accurate translation is 'Speaking in Different languages'
Early Christians that have this miraculous gift can speak others people languages without having learned it. (Acts 10:46,) The speaker was easily understood by anyone who knew that language. (Acts 2:4-cool
It was a necessity then because the small christain group are only conversant with Hebrew and Greek' languages. Now, they have to speak to people from Asia , Africa and other continent. It's not some mumbo jumbo as seen today.
Today, under God's guidance holyspirit the Bible is available today in almost all languages and even sign languages.
You can visit Jw.org to read a Bible in your tongue

speech of knowledge?
It was a miraculous knowledge that made up for the lack of copies of the Scriptures. The number of inspired scrolls is limited them . This miraculous gift bring in remembrance God's words in the scroll and also alerted of the congregation situation(Acts 5:1-11)

Today, God has provided his entire Word, which today can be possessed in printed form or electronic copies by the most humble person.. (2 Tim. 3:16, 17) Furthermore, knowledge is available to all through Bible study helps such as commentaries, concordances and Bible dictionaries, as well as help from qualified teacher wink

The apostle Paul spoke of these miraculous gifts, incuding the 'Gift of prophesy' and said that they would pass away in time. (1 Cor. 13:cool
Prophecy, stopped, because it served its purpose, that Jehovah God had for it.
The, purpose, that Jehovah God, used prophecy for, was to inspire the Bible to be written, by men that he choose.

Bible being complete as a guide to the congregation today, nothing needs to be added. (2 Tim. 3:16, 17; Rev. 22:18, 19) .

Love never fails. But if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away with; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away with.(1 Cor 3:18)

People in general connect the word “prophet” with predictions of the future. Though prophets in the Bible usually proclaimed predictions about the future, the Scriptural definition of a prophet is wider:
In Bible times, prophet is a person who receives specific messages . they do not do that under their own initiative.

Today the organisation of Jehovah’s Witnesses act like a prophet in that we proclaim an old message, one that was written down in the pages of the Bible. We spread nothing new.

Many people claimed that JWs do not believe in the gift of prophesy as seen today and they also say that JWs are false prophets because they suppossedly have prophesied things that didn’t happen. Yea, this inconsistencies do not flow together.
Out of fairness to the honesthearted people that might be interested in answer, let's examine the facts more closely.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses prophets?

The simple answer is NO!
Never have we claimed to giving out a prophesy ‘in the name of Jehovah'. Infact many of our official journal have said the following;

"We have not the gift of prophecy.” (January 1883, page 425)

“Nor would we have our writings reverenced or regarded as infallible.” (December 15, 1896, page 306)

And Our Watchtower article, however having Jehovah's holyspirit -;

does not mean those now serving as Jehovah’s witnesses are inspired. It does not mean that the writings in this magazine The Watchtower are inspired and infallible and without mistakes.” (May 15, 1947, page 157)

“The Watchtower does not claim to be inspired in its utterances, nor is it dogmatic.” (August 15, 1950, page 263)

“The brothers preparing these publications are not infallible. Their writings are not inspired as are those of Paul and the other Bible writers.-2 Timothy 3:16 And so, at times, it has been necessary, as understanding became clearer, to correct views. Proverbs 4:18 ”—February 15, 1981, page 19.

Closer examination shows that never once has the Jehovah’s Witnesses organization claimed to be prophets.

But? Why do people call them a Failed prophets? Do they want to make them one so they can use that adjective? Have they prophesied wrongly in the past?

Does Jesus speak with an archangel's (not the article used is 'an' and not 'the' which means we have more than one archangel) or an archangel himself? You have to specify your position very clearly. I can speak in/with another person's voice without being same person. And as for your attempt at shifting goal-post by assuming that Jesus had God's trumpet, it is either you are theologically weak or lack personal skill to understand the text independently. I wont go into unnecessary cyclical argument. It is intellectually corrupt for you to attempt to make a convenient distinctions between 'the voice of an archangel' and 'the trumpet of God'. If Jesus came with the voice of an archangel he equally came with the trumpet of God. You cant eat your cake and have it.

@Bolded. I agree with. It's possible for you to impersonate someone's else voice.
But God's word said that's not going to be the case in Jesus'

John 5:25(KJV)
25Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and they that hear shall live.
It's Jesus own voice that will resurrect the dead sir. wink
And that voice is an Archangel's voice that he is.

If the Trumpet of God is symbolic then the voice of an archangel is equally symbolic.
The trumpet is owned by God but blow by trumpeters . Just as Jesus, other angels do blow the trumpets of God.
Those trumpets are played by seven angels to announce God’s judgements, which doesn’t mean that those angels are God.(Rev cool

Let me school you.
Pick your Bible and stay open-minded

true2god:
See your own New World Translation of 1 Thessalonian 4:16:

16. because the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call (shout), with an archangel's voice and with God's trumpet, and those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first.
You should argue with your translators and scholars at watchtowers who said 'an archangel's voice' (not the archangel as we have more than one archangel). Is the New World Translation wrong?
You don't even know how definite and indefinite articles work. Hold your English teacher responsible, not me.
What level of hypocrisy! cheesy So, you've abandoned KJV and other versions translated by Trinitarian because they used 'with the voice of the archangel'. I love to see this
When an indefinite article is used, it does not specify a particular entity. (Which can be 1(one) or more than one)
'I have a cat' I / 'have an umbrella'.. Context!
You cannot argue that I have more than a cat nah cheesy

The 'Archangel' only appears in singular never in plural sir to indicate there only exist just one leader of the Angels, The Archangel'

You never tell me, is Jesus also the Trumpet of God according to the text? You can choose from the text what you want and ignore the rest.
I've answered this in my other reply to you

Stop confusing yourselves. Even among the angels we have many 'departments'. We have angels who are responsible for war, death, blessings, praises and worship, etc and each of the angels have 'Leader of the Angels' who runs their different ministries.
Of course!
There are hierarchy among angels
Michael has great authority in the spirit realm, for he is called “the great prince.” (Daniel 10:21; 12:1) These titles designate Michael as “the commander-in-chief” of all angelic forces.
The Bible mentions only one other name of someone having authority over an army of angels JESUS!.” (2 Thessalonians 1:7, cool
Michael is evidently a name given to Jesus before and after his life on earth

So Jude using a definite article for Michael and Paul using an indefinite arctle for the archangel in 1 thess 4:16 has a reason for that. You cant create a theology using an isolate Bible verse.
Now, your voice has changed! It is now there must be reason for that wink. Then, why are we here.
It's clear to you now that the usage of indefinite articles does not necessarily indicate plurality.

Michael is not called “one of the arch angels” but he is referred to as “THE arch angel”(Definite article 'THE'). There is only one arch angel in the bible, no one else is given that title.

Hebrew 1: 5 said Jesus is not an angel. You are free to argue till next year. You are serving the watchtower society
I answered this also. Reading the Bible with that your doctrinal lens will only gives you this wink
You failed to answer my only question to you.
I'll bring it back

My only question for you will on this same chapter.
This chapter is about Jesus and the Angels
Who are the Jesus Companions/peers that he was annointed above?

You should stop replying instead of talking nonsense by parroting the watchtower narrative.
Are you not a clown? wink
You played the JWs card first in my reply to you and not you're scared to continue.
You're not make up for this

Charles Taze Rusell, the founder of your religion/organization agreed that:

1) Jesus is Divine

2) The Holy Spirit is a Person.

3) That celebration of birthday is not wrong

Was he ignorant then?

4. We use cross in our worship

5. Pray to Jesus

6. Celebrate Christmas and Easter. lol

Truly, over this century our basic teachings has not changed.
But anytime, anyday we're ready to change our doctrines to suit God's word in the Bible and not the way round.
We examined what the Bible teaches and gained a better understanding of details which were needing to be clarified they we corrected our beliefs and rejected unbiblical practices and teachings.
Not like your usual pathetic attempt to change God's word to suit your erattic doctrines.
That's Humility

Proverbs 4:18) - But the path of the righteous is like the bright morning light That grows brighter and brighter until full daylight.

true2god:
1 Thess 4:16, is Jesus the trumpet of God since he is the voice of an archangel? Make your response short.

In order to stress Jesus’ authority, the Bible says that he speaks with an archangel’s voice in ( 1 Thess 4:16 compare with —Joh 5:26-29)
You can’t emphasise someone’s authority by comparing him with an inferior being, but having God’s trumpet is a privilege that does emphasise Jesus’ authority.
The mention of a symbolic trumpet l of God does not mean that God is a trumpet player .cheesy
Haba nah

it is the king’s trumpeters who play the king’s trumpets wink
Calm down and let's JWs teach you Bible truths
