Hello Omicpet,
Really glad to hear of ur nafdac hurdles been sorted out.
Please we are just starting the processing, can you give me the contact of the consultant you used and his fees.
Also, how did you go abt d plant layout, will appreciate it if you can send a draft
Tanks

omicpet:
Actually it took quite longer than the 5 months.

Processing started late November 2015.
My consultant did things rather at a slower pace than bubu BUHARI wink . That's just the kinda person he his but am glad I had him as a consultant. He his worth is onions. So the discuss first I didn't get the trademark approved not till mid February . A company trademark is compulsory for the commencement of your processing.
PS don't let any body fool u into believing otherwise . The NaFdac team came to inspect the factory on the 13th of April that's a month after we got our trademark issue sorted . and water samples for both sachet and PET were collected that day .

It takes a minimum of 2weeks at best for any result to be forwarded from the NaFdac lab to the NaFdac departmental office .

And den came the strike .

NaFdac officers also had partook in their own strike after the nationwide strike . All in all and after all d bureaucracy and all I finally got ma digits on the 8th of August . Although the letter of notification I received was dated
On the 14th of July

abikun:
The quality control lab should contain the basic lab equipment like the pH meter, testing kit, TDS meter, microbiological analysis equipment, weighing balance etc. The lab should be well ventilated and illuminated. It should be well constructed to prevent external contamination. Test to be carried out will depend on the company whether it is water or food industry. For water, d test include pH, chlorine residue, microbial load (total plate count), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), volume determination etc. Food company QC lab test varies. The cost of set up will also depend on the type analysis intended to carry out in the lab. But one should be able to set up a miniature QC lab with #60k to #80k. Though NAFDAC do not compulsory QC lab instead one can hire public analyst. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your reply, I'm actually referring for test carried out on bottled water but since u sed we can hire a public analyst then that can solve it pending setting up our own lab

Good day house,
Abikun, thanks for the good work. Please I need info on what the quality control lab should look like and the test that is expected to b carried out there as expected by nafdac.

Thanks in anticipation

abikun:
You don't need more than production manager so no need to hire QC manager or marketing manager. Production manager can perform the three roles. NAFDAC only requires PM & MD, even during inspection. However, in the SOP for distribution and recall you can put any fictitious name as the marketing manager & also the same name must be the name of marketing manager on the organogram. Bear in mind that the marketing manager will sign the sop distribution & recall. Staff strength of four minimum.
Thank you so much for the insight, God bless you real good

Today I am uploading a sample of organogram. Please make sure you follow the sample to the minute detail because little error usually cause unecessary delay. Thanks. Please I need to entertain more question to make this thread alive and bubbling.
Please be on the lookout tomorrow, I have an important message to pass. Thanks and sweet dreams to all.
I have gone through the organogram and I want to ask for a factory that is just starting, how will one afford production manager, marketing manager and quality control manager...........u know they are graduate.
Will they allow the quality control personnel to perform d job of d production manager so as to minimize overall cost......better still what will u recommend in terms of staff strength

Bottled water is more profitable based on this calculation
CALCULATION ON SACHET WATER
1. 1kg of nylon N1200
2. 1kg produces 26-28 bags (take 26 for reference)
3. 77 kg produces 2000 bags
4. Cost of 77kg 93,400
5. Cost of packing bag N4.50 x 2000 N9000
6. A machine produces 110bags per hour x2
7. 2 Machines produces average of 2200 bags in 10hours
8. Cost of Labour to produce 2200 per 10hours 155,000 per month
26 = N6000 per day
9. Total cost of production material and labour, per day
= 77kg of printed nylon N92,400
2000 packing nylon N9000
Labour N6000

TOTAL COST OF PRODUCTION N107,400

A bag of water N120
2000 bags 120 x 2000 N240,000
Profit = 240,000 -107,400 N132,600

Unforeseen Expenses 10% of Total Profit N13, 260
i.e Electricity, Fueling & Transportation e.t.c
Net Profit = 119, 340

BOTTLE LINE
Full Auto 2000 cartons per day.
i. A preform cost N12.50
ii. 12 Preform N150 / carton
iii. A cap N2 cost N24 / carton
iv. Label N2 cost N24 / carton
v. Shrink nylon 1100/kg :- 20 N55 / carton
N 265.5/Carton
vi. Labour / day on Full Auto N3000

A machine produces:-
Full Auto 2000 cartons in 10hours

COST OF PRODUCTION AND LABOUR FOR FULL AUTO
Full Auto 265.5 X 2000 = N531000 + 3000= 534,000

PROFIT ON SALES
A carton is sold for N450
Full Auto N450 x 2000 cartons N900, 000 - 534,000 = 366,000

Check your mail for comprehensive cost analysis.
It's quite a brilliant analysis but I see that cost of Fueling and maintaining delivery vehicle is not included......pls wat s d likely cost for this

Wooow,
Thank you so much @karbaka and @aibikun, I so much appreciate your selfless effort in helping people, God bless you so much.
Pls which make will you recommend for the bottle line machine and the generator that is cost effective in terms of maintenance and fueling that can power both the Sachet water and bottled water machine
Also is fabricated equipment better than already manufactured ones.
Lastly will getting my own nylon printing machine be cost effective or for a start I can still outsource that

If you have a trusted supplier of these machines, I'll appreciate if u can give me their contact
Thanks in anticipation sir smiley
