Yes it is not biblical, only bride price and parents consent is what is needed, that doesn't mean it is a sin, the wedding at Cana that Christ attended was said to be a big wedding flowing with food and wine, Jesus Christ wasnt against it because he attended the wedding, the Europeans brought Christianity to Africa and didn't force anyone to adhere, same way they brought suits, english attires and whatnot and some still wear them today, no one forces anyone to do white wedding, do it as a choice and if you can afford it.

Actually the Europeans forced Africans to accept their Jesus and even took many of your forefathers as slaves.

You should do more research on the history of slavery. Specifically the trans Atlantic slave trade as it is directly linked to Europeans and Christianity

Me and my friends saw masquerades, and the next thing one of us uttered was: “why are our people so much clinging to the dark ages? we have left all these things behind so many decades ago”..
That was how a heated argument birthed itself, and it lasted for more than two hours.

Funny enough many Nigerians don't realise that many practices in Islam an Christianity are from the dark ages themselves

My own opinion is that Africans should be willing to let go for certain cultural practices that are detrimental to growth and work on promoting the good ones.

Things like child marriage, oro in Yoruba land where visitors are killed, marrying of female children etc

Also modernism is really not to be blamed. Colonialism is more responsible for the negative image given to our culture and for some reason Africans seem to trapped in the ideas that were used to enslave her forefathers

Majority of the rape cases in Nigeria today had minors as the victims. The level of statutory rape and even forced rape cases in Nigeria has to be a thing to worry about and be discussed in religious places, schools and even the legislative body.
One thing I don't get is the disturbing obsession with minors.
