CYPE is an interesting software. Though I'm still learning how to use it, but boy the designers of that software mean business.

So many important packages in one software is awesome. The ease with which you can run analysis and select sections is mind blowing.

Ever since I downloaded that Staad connect Edition V22 update 2 I've not used it. You won't believe it

I know I will still come back to Staad no matter how I run away from it.

Right now for steel, I'm still trying to walk my way round CYPE 3D & CYPE CARD because generating shop drawings there is quite easy. More so, I like analysing and seeing things in real time as in the case of Etabs and SAFE.

Prota has upgraded a little though, with staircase modelling now possible on the actual model as oppose to designing the staircase in prota details in previous versions.


All in all one tends to stick to what works best for him.

The reason why i do not like prota ( i use prota alot also) is because it does not allow for intuition. I detail and draw everything myself. i have a draughtsman that assists me. i have seen cype 3d on youtube, decodedb was using it.

probably because i started with staad and i got used to it. the only advantage etabs has over staad is that it produces more economic section when it comes to concrete design
