A new study at The University of Toledo shows that a father donates not one, but two centrioles through the sperm during fertilization, and the newly discovered sperm structure may contribute to infertility, miscarriages and birth defects. The newly discovered centriole functions similarly and along with the known centriole. However, it is structured differently. According to Dr. Tomer Avidor-Reiss, professor in the UT Department of Biological Sciences, abnormalities in the formation and function of the atypical centriole may be the root of infertility of unknown cause in couples who have no treatment options available to them. It also may contributes to early pregnancy loss and embryo development defects. The centriole is the only essential cellular structure contributed solely by the father. It is the origin of all of the centrioles in the trillions of cells that make up the adult human body. Centrioles are essential for building the cell’s antennae- cilia, and cytoskeleton, as well as completing accurate cell division. A zygote, or fertilized egg cell, needs two centrioles to start life. It was previously thought that sperm provides a single centriole to the egg and then duplicates itself. Since the mother’s egg does not provide centrioles, and the father’s sperm possesses only one recognizable centriole, cutting-edge techniques and microscopes showed that it came from men. The atypical centriole contains a small core set of proteins needed for the known sperm centriole to form a fully functional centriole after fertilization in the zygote using the egg’s proteins. This discovery may provide new avenues for diagnostics and therapeutic strategies for male infertility and insights into early embryo developmental defects. The cutting-edge techniques and microscopes used on this research include super-resolution microscopy; electron microscopy with high-pressure freezing; and correlative light and electron microscopy. Researchers from Mayo Clinic and Exact Sciences Corporation have completed a phase II study comparing a set of DNA markers to alpha fetoprotein as a method to test for liver cancer. The current liver cancer are the use of ultrasound and a blood protein marker- alpha fetoprotein. The tests are not very sensitive for curable stage liver cancers, and most patients who need this testing do not have it easily available. Researchers developed a simple blood test using abnormal DNA markers that exist in liver cancer tissues. They confirmed that the abnormal DNA markers were present in the overwhelming majority of blood samples that came from people with primary liver cancers. Simultaneously, these markers were absent in healthy individuals and those with cirrhosis of the liver but no evidence of tumors on their clinical follow-up. The DNA markers was detected in more than 90 percent of patients with curable stage tumors, primary liver cancer is a major cause of death for patients who have cirrhosis of the liver or patients with hepatitis B infections. Liver cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death. haleplushearty.org

University of Illinois at Chicago researchers has found some of the genes affected by alcohol and inflammation are also implicated in processes that clear amyloid beta-the protein that forms globs of plaques in the brain and contributes to neuronal damage and the cognitive impairment associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Previous studies investigating the effects of alcohol consumption on Alzheimer’s disease have been controversial-some have indicated that alcohol has a protective effect, while others have pointed to a deleterious role for alcohol in the development of this neurocognitive disease. Recent research has suggested that alcohol consumption, and its impact on the immune system and inflammation in the brain, may be the reason why alcohol might exert its influence on the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Douglas Feinstein, professor of anesthesiology in the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, and other researchers conducted a cell-based study which suggests that alcohol may impede the clearance of amyloid beta in the brain. Researchers wanted to determine genes that are affected by both alcohol and high levels of inflammation in microglial cells. These are cells that support neural cells in the brain and other parts the body. One of their functions is to engulf and digest the amyloid beta protein plaques characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease in a process known as phagocytosis. Microglial cells are also known to express high levels of inflammatory markers due to chronic alcohol exposure. Researchers exposed rat microglial cells to alcohol, pro-inflammatory chemicals called cytokines, or alcohol and cytokines in the lab for 24 hours, and looked at changes in gene expression under each condition. They also looked at the impact of alcohol exposure on the cells’ ability to engulf amyloid beta. They found that gene expression was altered for 312 genes under the alcohol condition; for 3,082 for the pro-inflammatory condition, and 3,552 for the alcohol and pro-inflammatory condition. Changes in gene expression-either an increase or decrease in expression compared to normal levels-averaged about 16 percent and ranged from a 50 percent decrease to a 72 percent increase. Just a handful of genes were involved in both phagocytosis and inflammation. The results suggest that alcohol impedes the ability of mircroglia to keep the brain clear of amyloid beta and may contribute to the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Exposing the cells to alcohol levels at doses that are comparable to those found in humans after binge drinking or in heavy drinkers, makes microglial phagocytosis significantly suppressed by about 15 percent after one hour. Triclosan used in soap and Colgate toothpaste may increase the risk of bowel cancer, trials on mice revealed it may lead to inflammatory bowel disease IBD by changing their gut microbiota. According to University of Massachusetts Amherst researchers, triclosan triggered inflammation in the colons of mice. Animal studies have shown triclosan can potentially change hormone systems in men and women and led to miscarriages in female rats, other trials have linked it to causing antibiotic resistance. Mice were exposed to low amounts of triclosan for a short period of time before they were analysed by researchers. Scans revealed the ingredient caused them low-grade colonic inflammation and worsened colitis – one form of IBD. Further inspections showed it also exaggerated colitis-associated colon cancer. According to a new study, stroke patients experienced sustained problems with insomnia potentially reducing their ability to relearn key skills and putting them at increased risk of depression. Researchers from the University of Surrey, University of Freiburg, Germany, and the University of Bern, Switzerland, conducted an in depth sleep laboratory experiment to compare the brain signals of patients in the chronic state-one year post-stroke and the general population. Using a polysomnogram (PSG) test, which assesses the brains’ sleeping patterns over two nights, researchers found that it took stroke patients longer to fall asleep and they had poorer sleep efficiency-the ratio of time spent asleep comparted to the time spent in bed than those who had not experienced a stroke. A multiple sleep latency test (MSLT), also showed that stroke patients were less likely to fall asleep during the day to compensate for lost sleep at night. They were more prone to errors in a vigilance test, this increases their risk of cognitive failures. Sleep problems experienced by stroke patients are due to psychological strain, pain and discomfort. Annette Sterr, Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropsychology at the University of Surrey, said the research shows that those who have suffered from stroke maintain difficulties with their sleep which is likely to affect the overall recovery and quality of life. The importance of sleep in aiding the recovery of patients should not be underestimated in improving and maintaining physical and mental wellbeing. haleplushearty.org

Exposure to childhood stress can lead to poor physical and mental health in some people which can be passed on to their offspring. Studies in mice show how stress can be transmitted to offspring through environmentally-induced changes in sperm miRNA levels. According to the new epigenetics study, the same is true in humans, it shows for the first time that the levels of the same two sperm miRNAs change in both men and mice exposed to early life stress. In mice, the negative effects of stress are transmitted to offspring. Some children are vulnerable due to Lamarckian type inheritance derived from their parents’ experiences- Larry Feig, Ph.D., professor of Developmental, Molecular and Chemical Biology at Tufts University School of Medicine and member of the Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology and Neuroscience programs at the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences at Tufts. The human part of the study utilized the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) questionnaire as an indicator of men’s early life trauma. The ACE Study questionnaire includes 10 yes or no questions about one’s experiences until the age of 18, including physical, verbal, or sexual abuse, and physical or emotional neglect. Other questions relate to one’s family members. Four or more yes answers put one at significantly increased risk for future mental and physical health problems. miRNAs constitute a newly appreciated type of gene regulator, where each miRNA controls a distinct set of genes. Until recently, sperm from fathers were thought to contribute only DNA to the mother’s egg upon fertilization, but new data in mice indicate that sperm also contribute miRNAs that influence the next generation. Sperm miRNA expression in humans is known to be affected by environmental factors, such as smoking and obesity, but no human study to date has documented the effects of stress. The new study found that among 28 Caucasian male volunteers, the expression of two highly related sperm miRNAs, miR-449 and miR-34, were inversely proportional to the men’s ACE scores. Men with the most extensive early abuse (highest ACE scores) had as much as a 300-fold reduction in the two sperm miRNAs compared to men with the least abuse. The idea that these changes can affect the next generation is supported by additional findings in the study-the same sperm miRNA changes that take place in men with high ACE scores also occur in mice exposed to early life social instability stress, which Feig’s lab has shown previously leads to anxiety and sociability defects in female offspring of stressed males for at least three generations; these two sets of miRNAs are known to work together in mice to allow proper development of the brain and sperm in humans, miR-34c has been implicated in promoting early embryo development; the mouse studies showed that the decline in these sperm miRNA levels is transmitted to the next generation. When these embryos mature, these miRNAs are also reduced in the sperm of their male offspring who pass on stress behaviors to their female offspring. This shows that stress is associated with altered levels of sperm miRNAs in humans. haleplushearty.org

Northwestern Medicine study has identified an epigenetic imbalance that silences the expression of tumor-suppressing proteins, allowing cancerous cells to proliferate. In the study, researchers applied a simple molecular inhibitor that reversed epigenetic imbalance in laboratory models. This inhibitor has a potential therapeutic application, and the study will be followed by a clinical trial led by Northwestern researchers. Though mutations in a gene-MLL3 are common across many types of cancers, mutations in MLL3, a component of a complex named COMPASS discovered by Shilatifard’s laboratory, were one of the most frequently identified mutations in cancer, according to an analysis of publically available genomic data performed as part of the current study. Among all of the histone modifiers and transcription factors analyzed, the protein has significant hot-spot mutations- it was present in 7 percent of primary tumors and in metastatic tumors with higher mutation rate. The presence of MLL3 hot-spot mutations was correlated with significantly lower cancer survival rates, indicating there was some oncogenic mechanism triggered by the mutations. After a series of biochemical experiments, they got success when examining the relationship between MLL3 and a molecule complex called PRC2. MLL3, as part of COMPASS, normally promotes the expression of numerous tumor-suppressing genes that are immediately downstream. However, the study found that if there are specific mutations in MLL3, it will not be recruited to the right location on the genome. Instead, PRC2 becomes dominant and prevents downstream tumor-suppressor gene expression. Applying a small PRC2 inhibitor, preventing PRC2 from silencing the downstream tumor-suppressor genes, researchers were able to restore normal function and slow tumor growth. New research by a multidisciplinary team of mathematicians and biologists from the Universities of Warwick and Manchester has discovered the importance of hot body temperature. The hotter the temperature, the more the body speed up a key defence system that fights against tumours, wounds and infections. Rises in temperature speed up the speed of a cellular ‘clock’ that controls the response to infections, at a body temperature of 34 degrees, the NF-κB clock slows down. At higher temperatures than the normal 37 degree body temperature (such as in fever, 40 degrees), the NF-κB clock speeds up. Mathematicians at the University of Warwick’s Systems Biology Centre calculated how temperature increases make the cycle speed up. They predicted that a protein called A20—which is essential to avoid inflammatory disease might be critically involved in this process. The researchers then removed A20 from cells and found that the NF-kB clock lost its sensitivity to increases in temperature. In normal life the 24 hour body clock controls small (1.5 degree) changes in body temperature, the lower body temperature during sleep might provide a fascinating explanation into how shift work, jet lag or sleep disorders cause increased inflammatory disease. Temperature changes inflammation in cells and tissues in a biologically organised way and suggests that new drugs might precisely change the inflammatory response by targeting the A20 protein. According to the university of Michigan study, polygenic risk scores could be useful to stratify the risk of several cancers among patients. researchers at U-M’s School of Public Health conducted a phenome-wide association study in 28,260 unrelated, genotyped patients of recent European ancestry to evaluate whether polygenic risk scores for common cancers are associated with multiple phenotypes. The study used data from participants’ electronic health records, the results demonstrate that polygenic risk scores, a summary score constructed based on results obtained from large population-based genome-wide association studies, can be potentially useful for cancer risk stratification among patients in an academic medical center. Looking at the data, it was surprising to see how logical the secondary diagnosis associations with the risk score were. The association plots of the risk scores against the phenome can make diagnosis easy. A polygenic risk score for squamous cell carcinoma-a common skin cancer form showed a strong association for various forms of skin cancer, but also with actinic keratosis, a potentially precancerous skin lesion. Blood group “antigens” on red blood cells substances can trigger the body’s immune response that is different from person to person, mismatches in red blood cell antigens that are not related to differences in A, B and O blood groups can lead to death. Currently, no method is available that can determine all blood antigens. But as whole genome sequencing becomes routine for patients, it may be possible to modernize therapy by identifying rare donors and at-risk recipients before blood transfusions. Researchers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, as well as from the New York Blood Center have leveraged the MedSeq Project – the first randomized trial of whole genome sequencing in healthy adults-to develop and validate a computer program that can comprehensively and cost-effectively determine differences in individuals’ blood types with higher accuracy. Blood transfusion complications are common in patients that need chronic transfusion, but with current technology it is not cost effective to do blood typing for all antigens,” said first author William Lane, MD, Ph.D., director of Clinical Laboratory Informatics and assistant director of the Tissue Typing Laboratory in the BWH Department of Pathology. The algorithm developed can be applied for all relevant blood groups after obtaining the sequencing. Complications from blood transfusions can be life-threatening, when the body encounters foreign antigens on the donor cells, it can stimulate production of antibodies that can destroy the transfused donor cells. From birth, people have antibodies unique to their ABO blood type, but other antibodies against specific blood antigens can be stimulated during pregnancy from exposure to fetal cells or exposure to donor cells when receiving multiple blood transfusions. This approach has the potential to be one of the first routine clinical uses of genomics for medical care for patients that need blood transfusion, It could prevents serious complications because once patients are sensitized they have a life-long risk of hemolytic transfusion reactions if blood transfusion is needed in an emergency. Test for blood donors and patients include ABO and Rh matching, but more than 300 red blood cell antigens and 33 platelet antigens are known. To create a way to cost-effectively type many people for these antigens, researchers build a database and develop a computer software algorithm-bloodTyper, that could rapidly and accurately predict an individual’s blood group antigen profile from genomic sequences. BloodTyper was accurate when typing from the MedSeq Project participants’ genomes, genome sequencing can now identify potential transfusion recipients who need rare blood types and the donor who can safely provide them. THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG “I HAVE DECIDED TO FOLLOW JESUS" About 150 years ago, there was a great revival in Wales, England. As a result of this, many missionaries came from England to northeast India to spread the Gospel. The region was known as Assam and comprised hundreds of tribes. The tribal communities were quite primitive and aggressive. The tribesmen were also called HEAD-HUNTERS because of a social custom which required the male members of the community to collect as many heads as possible. A man’s strength and ability to protect his wife was assessed by the number of heads he had collected. Therefore, a youth of marriageable age would try and collect as many heads as possible and hang them on the walls of his house. The more heads a man had, the more eligible he was considered. Into this hostile and aggressive community, came a group of Welsh missionaries spreading the message of love, peace, and hope of Jesus Christ. Naturally, they were not welcomed. However, One Welsh missionary finally succeeded in converting a man, his wife, and two children. This man’s faith proved contagious and many villagers began to accept Christianity. Angry, the village Chief summoned all the villagers. He then called the family who had first converted, to renounce their faith in public or face execution. Moved by the Holy Spirit, the man sung his reply, “I have decided to follow Jesus. No turning back.” Enraged at the refusal of the man, the Chief ordered his archers to arrow down the two children and they did. As both boys lay twitching on the floor, the Chief asked, “Will you deny your faith? You have lost both your children already. You will lose your wife too.” But the man replied, again singing, “Though none go with me, still I will follow, No turning back.” The Chief was beside himself with fury and ordered his wife to be arrowed down and she was. In a moment, she joined her two children in death. Now he asked for the last time, “I will give you one more opportunity to deny your faith and live.” In the face of death the man sung, “The cross before me, the world behind me. No turning back. No turning back.” He was shot dead like the rest of his family. But with their deaths, a miracle took place. The Chief who had ordered the killings was moved by the faith of the man. He wondered, “Why should this man, his wife and two children die for a Man who lived in a far-away land, on another continent some 2,000 years ago? He concluded that "there must be some supernatural power behind the family, and I too want that supernatural power.” In a spontaneous confession of faith, he declared, “I too belong to Jesus Christ!” When the crowd heard this from the mouth of their Chief, the whole village accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. What have you ever done for Jesus Christ? Jesus wants you to make that decision to Follow Him today, because tomorrow might be too late. If you love Jesus, please share this message. GOD BLESS YOU AS YOU DO. The messenger of Truth, with the messages of Victory... |
Gout is a painful inflammatory arthritis, it is not associated with an increased risk of fracture, according to a large study led by Keele University, and published in CMAJ (Canadian Medical Association Journal ). Gout is the most common form of inflammatory arthritis, caused by the buildup of urate crystals in a joint. It can result in severe pain and swelling in joints, most often the base of the big toe but also in other joints. There is some evidence that chronic inflammation may increase the risk of fracture.Researchers from Keele University conducted a study in the UK using a large primary care database. They included 31 781 patients with gout who were matched to 122961 controls and followed them for between 6.8 and 13.6 years until the first diagnosis of a fracture. The rate of fracture was similar in people with and without gout. In addition, medication to lower urate levels in people with gout did not appear to benefit or adversely affect the long-term risk of fractures. haleplushearty.org

Eating too much salt raises blood pressure and increases the likelihood of heart complications for people who have hypertension, to monitor salt intake, researchers have developed a flexible and stretchable wireless sensing system designed to be comfortably worn in the mouth to measure the amount of sodium consume. Based on an ultrathin, breathable elastomeric membrane, the sensor integrates with a miniaturized flexible electronic system that uses bluetooth technology to wirelessly report the sodium consumption to a smartphone or tablet. By monitoring sodium in real-time, the device could help people who need to restrict sodium intake and learn to change their eating habits and diet. Details of the device are reported in the early edition of the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The device has been tested in three adult study participants who wore the sensor system for up to a week while eating both solid and liquid foods. According to the American Heart Association, Americans on average eat more than 3,400 milligrams of sodium each day, far more than the limit of 1,500 milligrams per day it recommends. The association surveyed a thousand adults and found that one-third couldn’t estimate how much sodium they ate, and another 54 percent thought they were eating less than 2,000 milligrams of sodium a day. The sodium sensing system could address excess salt intake by helping users track how much salt they consume, the device could have applications for eating behavior for diet management or therapeutics. Key to development of the intraoral sensor was replacement of traditional plastic and metal-based electronics with biocompatible and ultrathin components connected using mesh circuitry. Sodium sensors are available commercially. The e sensing and electronics package was conformally integrated onto a soft material that users can tolerate, the sensor is comfortable to wear, and data from it can be transmitted to a smartphone or tablet. The flexible design began with computer modeling to optimize the mechanical properties of the device for use in the curved and soft oral cavity. The researchers then used model to design the actual nanomembrane circuitry and choose components. The device can monitor sodium intake in real-time, and record daily amounts. Using a smartphone or tablet application, the system could advise users planning meals how much of their daily salt allocation they had already consumed. The device can communicate with a smartphone up to ten meters away. haleplushearty.org

According to scientists, it gets harder to focus without being distracted past the age of 55, particularly when under stress, because of the way human brains change over time. Stress has less effect on young people, who are able to focus on the task at hand and block unnecessary distractions. By contrast, scans showed that older individuals lose these skills. The study, led by the University of South Carolina, put participants aged 55 to 75 in a stressful situation then asked them to pick the clearest of two black and white photographs. When the results were compared to those of a group aged 18 to 34, the older group was worse at focusing, taking longer to find the answer. MRI scans found older adults under stress showed less activity in the part of the brain which enables attention and ignore competing thoughts and distractions. Younger adults, by contrast, saw no difference. Trying hard to complete a task increases emotional arousal, so when younger adults try hard, this increases their ability to ignore distracting information, but for older adults, trying hard may make both what they are trying to focus on and other information stand out more. The experiment enlisted 24 participants in the older group and 28 in the younger group. Their task, repeated 160 times, was to identify the clearest image out of two pictures of a building and an object. The correct answer flashed up for just a tenth of a second. To place extra pressure on them, participants were threatened with electric shocks. The results found younger people answered an average of 143 milliseconds faster because part of the brain which controls the ability to focus under pressure appears to weaken with age. The pathways between this area and the parts of the brain involved in looking at images of places and controlling what we pay attention to and what we ignore showed less activity in the older adults. These areas are also linked to Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. haleplushearty.org

According to the World Health Organisation WHO, around 700,000 people die every year as a result of antibiotic resistan Scientists at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and the University of Oxford have now discovered that there is a point in the production process of the proteins at which it can be regulated by bacteria. This could be used as a starting point for the development of new antibiotics and help overcome resistance to antibiotics. Antibiotics are used in the treatment of bacterial infections. They kill and inhibit the growth of bacteria, allowing the infection to subside and the patient to recover. However, during the last few years, increasing numbers of bacteria have developed so-called antibiotic resistance, which means they are resistant to the effects of antibiotics. Over time, these types of medication become ineffective and multi-resistant bacteria become even more widespread as a result. New drugs could now be developed on the basis of the findings that kill the bacteria that cause illnesses. The FAU team led by Dr. David Dulin and the team led by Achillefs Kapanidis at the University of Oxford have discovered that the early phase of ribonucleic acid (RNA) production is the key to controlling the regulation of bacterial gene expression. Gene expression is the term used to describe how a gene product coded by a gene is is formed. These products are often proteins, or RNA molecules. In bacteria, the RNA is produced using a large protein complex called RNA polymerase (RNAP). The RNAP reads the DNA sequence and builds a copy of the RNA by joining nucleotides together - the fundamental building blocks of RNA - during a process called transcription. Since this production of RNA is fundamental for the survival of the bacteria, it has already been the subject of intensive research and used as the starting point for developing antibiotics, for example for the treatment of tuberculosis. However, it remained unclear how the production of RNA is also regulated at the stage of early transcription when RNAP has just begun to join together the first few RNA building blocks. The researchers used high-end fluorescence microscopy, which allowed them to monitor individual RNAP molecules as they started to produce RNA. They discovered that the initial RNA synthesis is strongly regulated - a certain sequence of DNA forces the RNAP to pause for several seconds. It can only continue with RNA production after this pause. This discovery completely changes previous understanding of initial RNA synthesis in bacteria. The discovery of this new checkpoint in gene expression could be used for the development of new antibiotics- developing medication that locks the RNAP in the paused state, thus killing the bacteria that cause illnesses. According to a new study, eating up to 12 eggs per week for a year did not increase cardiovascular risk factors in people with pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes. University of Sydney researchers clear conflicting dietary advice around egg consumption, Led by Dr Nick Fuller from the University's Boden Institute of Obesity, Nutrition, Exercise and Eating Disorders at the Charles Perkins Centre, the research was conducted with the University of Sydney's Sydney Medical School and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. In the initial trial, participants aimed to maintain their weight while embarking on a high-egg (12 eggs per week) or low-egg (less than two eggs per week) diet, with no difference in cardiovascular risk markers identified at the end of three months. The same participants then embarked on a weight loss diet for an additional three months, while continuing their high or low egg consumption. For a further six months - up to 12 months in total - participants were followed up by researchers and continued their high or low egg intake. At all stages, both groups showed no adverse changes in cardiovascular risk markers and achieved equivalent weight loss - regardless of their level of egg consumption. Eggs are high in dietary cholesterol - and people with type 2 diabetes tend to have higher levels of the 'bad' low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol - this study supports existing research that shows consumption of eggs has little effect on the levels of cholesterol in the blood of the people eating them. Eggs are a source of protein and micronutrients that could support a range of health and dietary factors including helping to regulate the intake of fat and carbohydrate, eye and heart health, healthy blood vessels and healthy pregnancies. The different egg diets also appeared to have no impact on weight, people on both the high egg and low egg diets lost an equivalent amount of weight - and continued to lose weight after the three month intended weight loss phase had ended. May Holy Ghost Service (May 4, 2018) Theme: Stronger than your enemies (Part 5) Ministering: Pastor E A Adeboye. Topic: The Habitation of the Almighty Bible Text: 1 John 4: 4 Pray and say; Father this very evening do something special in my life. Let somebody shout Halleluiah! Now I am going to ask you to join me for a very special prayer session because unless these killings stop and stop immediately even Nigeria may not live, not just individuals but Nigeria as a nation herself. Let’s pray that Nigeria may live and so every one of you who love Nigeria stand up and cry to God with all your heart and pray, Father let the killings stop so that Nigeria may live. Today we want to talk about stronger than your enemies with a sub-title “The habitation of Almighty”. You are a habitation of the almighty and that why you are stronger than your enemies. (Section 1) When the almighty God is dwelling in you then you become a treasure, 2Cor 4:7 tell us that we have this treasure in earthen vessel so that the power we begins to demonstrate will be of God and not of us, so when a fellow invite Jesus into his life that fellow become a treasure of God. Zac 2:5 say He will build a wall of fire around that person because of the treasure He has in that fellow. Why do we surround our president s and governors with so much security is because they are treasure to us and so also are we treasures of God because of what He has in us. Joshua 10:6-11 tells us how God rained bombs on their enemies because the Israelite His children were His treasure. When you are a child of God the witches in your home will not be able to come near you. Daddy declaring that if there are enemies around you right now the ground will open it mouth and swallow them up. But if you don’t have Jesus in you then you have no value and can easily be tormented by the devil. Are you a child of God or are you a treasure of God, so if you have not then it is in your own interest to choose and ask Him into your life so that you can be treasured by Him all the days of your life. (Section 2) When God is seated on his throne in heaven, He is in absolute control because He say in Isaiah 66:1 say Heaven is His throne and the earth is his foot stool and when He stand His enemies begins to scatter Ps 66:3 and when God begins to move the earth begins to tremble as stated in Ps 68 :6-7. When God is passing by He distribute miracle like in Mark 10 where Bartimaeus received his sight and when God arrive at wherever He is going there will be an earthquake Act 16:35-39 I the story of Paul and Silas. So imagine what will happen when God come into place and He decide to stay put, saying this is where I will dwell and so Col 1:27 says “ Christ in you the hope of glory” so when God decide to reside anywhere then glory is the result. When the prince of prince is reigning there will be no trouble. Prayer point: Father, king of glory come and dwell in me permanently and make my life your home. Now if Jesus comes to dwell in you what does it really mean? 1. it means the great healer himself has come to dwell. Mark 5:25-34 the story of the woman with the issue of blood, John 9:1-7 when he was passing by He gave a blind man his sight back and Mark 2:1-12 He healed the man who was paralyzed from neck downward but when he resides permanently in a place or in you then the story becomes different. Prayer point: Father, thou the Lord that heals come resides in me. 2. Christ in you means you have a resident protector, He is call the lord of host and the commander of the armies of heaven so when Christ is dwelling in you genuinely He will not only protect you but He will extend His protection to those connected to you as well. Pray Point: Father, lord of Host coma and abide with me. 3. Christ in you means you have a resident life in you, John 11:35 (The Lord say there someone who came with a tremendous heat but now the heat is gone and also there is a woman whom the doctors told her womb is dead but now it has receive life, also for someone who has been resisted God is saying you will be great) Jesus is life and so death cannot reign where Jesus is dwelling in. @ kings 4:018-37 the story of the shunamite woman. Daddy decrees that every one of you that they say you will die, you will not die rather you will live to do the work of God. Prayer point: Father, the resurrection and life come and dwell in me. 4. If Christ is in you it means you have resident faith – the faith that is the kind of God faith. Hen 12:2 say He is the author and finisher of our faith and in Mark 3 you find yourself in the category of God almighty that if you have faith then all things are possible to you and you can move mountain with it. I need that kind of faith and you need that kind of faith too, the faith that will cause God to move and that will compel God of act for you. Prayer point: Father, that kind of faith that can move mountain, let it dwell in me. 5. If Christ is dwelling in you it means you have in you resident peace because according Isaiah 9:6 ( Daddy say I should tell someone that you are down today but you will bounce back in a bigger way) call Jesus the prince of peace and in Mark 4:35-41 Jesus being the peace himself calm the storms of life and when the prince of peace is in you will enjoy peace that passes human understanding. Daddy prays for you that the peace of God that passes all understanding will invade your heart. Prayer point: Prince of peace come and dwell in me and stay put. (Daddy says he hear a song and he believe somebody is about to sing that song and the song is “ I have joy like river in my soul) 6. As long as the greater one is in you then you will be stronger than your enemies. Just like air is the Holy Spirit and so you cannot see it but you cannot deny its impact. For example an aircraft with all the loads it carries whenever it wants to land the tiers will always carry the craft because of the air in it. So also if you have the almighty dwelling in you then you can overcome any enemy that comes your way. Prayer point: Lord Almighty, come and dwell in me so that I will overcome whatever the enemy might throw at me. The All sufficient God will grant your request, He will dwell in your heart, home, churches and the strength that come from with He will release to you today and you will overcomer and every attack of the enemy will bounce back to sender and all those who want you dead will be bury by you and your victory will be total because you will have joy like a river and that that king of faith that bring anything form God, God will you give and you will have peace that passes all understanding. Now let someone shout Halleluiah. |
MAY 2018 HOLY COMMUNION SERVICE THEME: STRONGER THAN YOUR ENEMIES - PART 5 (HABITATION OF THE ALMIGHTY) MINISTERING: PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE DATE: 3RD MAY, 2018 SONG: What a Mighty God we serve (Halleluyah) - 2ce Heaven and Earth adore Him, even Angels bow before Him. What a Mighty God we serve. OPENING PRAYER: The Almighty God, the All Sufficient God; King of Kings and the Lord of Lord, the Unchangeable Changer blessed be your Holy Name. We thank you for January, we thank you for February, we thank you for March, we thank you for April and now we thank you for May. Please accept our Worship in Jesus Name. Tonight, we are gathered before you, in your own Miraculous way; do that which you alone can do. ... In Jesus Mighty Name we have prayed...Amen!!! Let somebody shout Halleluyah... Halleluyah! BIBLE TEXT: PHILIPPIANS 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me From the text: I can do how many things ... ALL THINGS. This is including overcoming all your enemies. You can achieve this as a result of the Strength supplied by Jesus Christ. Strength is an "Internal Force". You cannot measure the strength of a man by merely looking at him - a man can be big but weak whereas another man can be small but strong. The bible in Ephesians 3:16 says: That He would grant you according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man. You don't know how strong your opponent is until he lands you the first blow. But then strength is usually associated with food. For example in Acts 9: 17-19; when Ananias went to pray for Saul of Tarsus in order for him to receive his sight and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He prayed for him, he received his sight and the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the scale on his eyes fell off. But he did not received strength until he was given food to eat. The food to give strength however must be the right kind of food. Food is different from food. You must eat the right kind of food to get the maximum benefits of the food. There is no food better than the food supplied by Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ said in John 6:51 that: I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I give for the life of the world. So when we come for Holy Communion like this, we are not coming for an ordinary service but have come to receive strength. The kind of strength that will enable us to do EVERYTHING. But for the wine, the bible in Ephesians 5:18 compares the wine with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:18 says: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. So when you take the wine, you are taking something symbolical to taking the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:11 says: But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you. So tonight, we will take the bread that symbolises the flesh of Jesus Christ and drink the wine which symbolises the blood of Jesus Christ You combined the two (2) of them to have Strength in your inner mind to do anything. Daddy is believing God for someone here tonight that as you take the Holy Communion tonight; the strength to succeed you will receive, the strength to make progress you will get and the strength to overcome all your enemies will be released to you. The bible says in Colossians 1:27 that: To whom God made known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. This is what makes Holy Communion to be a very dangerous meal because two (2) Masters cannot dwell in the same body - if you take in Jesus Christ now and anyone not with Him gets into trouble. From the Bible lesson we read earlier, we were told that it was for this reason that some people eat the Holy Communion unworthily and fall sick while some may even die. So tonight, please don't take the Holy Communion unworthily. It is just too Powerful to be toiled with. That is why tonight, before you come to the table of the Holy Communion; if you are not on the side of God please come over now. ... So if you want to give your life to Jesus Christ; I will count from 1 to 5; ensure you are standing before me before I finished counting. Come and let us together cry to God to save you. It is only after this that you can partake of the Holy Communion. As you are coming, pray to God to save your soul. Tell Him that you have come to surrender yourself to Him and so He should wipe away your sins with His Blood. And that as from now on, you will serve Him alone. Let we the others intercede on behalf of our brethren. Tell the One who saved you to also saved them. That He should wash them clean and make them to be members of His family. DADDY PRAYS: My Father and my God; we want to thank you for your Words and also thank you for these ones. Please remember your promise that you will not cast away anyone that comes to you. These ones have come to you, please receive them, save their souls, wash them with your blood and write their names in the Book of Life. Anytime they cried unto you, answer them by fire...in Jesus Name we pray. ADMINISTRATION OF THE HOLY COMMUNION When you take the bread, you pray thus: Ask for Strength to overcome every form of Sickness, Diseases, Pains and that God should make you to be Stronger than your Enemies. When you get the wine you pray thus: Ask that the Holy Spirit will flush out of your system anything at all that is not of God. ... In Jesus Name we pray ... Amen! OFFERING: We cannot pay for the body that was broken for us. Also we cannot pay for the blood that was shed at Calvary for us. But we can at least say "Thank you" to Jesus Christ for making us to partake of the Holy Communion. So let us prepare an offering for God, stand on your feet and locate a basket closest to you to drop your offering. As soon as you drop your offering, celebrate your Victory with your neighbour. PRAYER: Father, by this offering give me Victory over poverty forever. Please receive the offering to yourself as am giving it to you cheerfully as a token of my love to you. In Jesus Name we pray. PERSONAL PRAYER: If there is something you want the Almighty God to do for you even before we gather here tomorrow so that you can give your own Testimony tomorrow ask God now. Talk to God about it for a minute. CLOSING PRAYERS: The Almighty God will grant your request. This very night, He will surprise you. By the time the sun rises tomorrow, you will be singing "Songs of Victory". He will bless your Offering, He will sanctify your Offering and He will use it for His Glory. You will not know Poverty again. In His Kingdom, none of us will be missing. ... In Jesus Name we have prayed ... Amen! Let somebody shout Halleluyah...Halleluyah! Tell your friends and co-workers that tomorrow night will be "Very Special" as we will be talking about the "Habitation of the Almighty". ... If you are the one that gets the biggest Miracle, let me hear you shout the biggest Halleluyah ... HALLELUYAH!!! |
Human body is a store of energy that can be divided into two components- fat mass and fat-free mass, fat contains much more energy and requires more energy to burn. To lose weight, the energy out must be greater than the energy in. The amount of weight lose will depend on the loss of fat or fat-free mass. It takes a much bigger energy deficit to lose a kilogram of fat than a kilogram of fat-free mass, more energy deficit per kilogram of weight loss is needed if you are overweight. Avoid eating more to compensate for the exercise, being less physically active after exercise will be counter productive, keep on moving indoor. Keep yourself busy with domestic chores and spend less time in front of television, avoid ‘activitystat’ hypothesis -the idea of setting setpoint for energy expenditure like the setpoint on a thermostat, increase of physical activity in one domain, then there is an automatic compensation in another. Changing of diet, eating when you are hungry, eating of smaller portion and changing of activity pattern can aid the weight lost process. Strength training-using weights or your body weight increased fat-free mass by about 2kg (4lbs 6oz) in overweight men and about 1kg in women, even though weight remained unchanged. A good test of whether you’re swapping fat mass for fat-free mass is just to measure your waist girth. If it’s getting smaller while your weight is stable, then you’re probably losing fat and gaining fat-free mass. haleplushearty.org

Scientists have created life in the laboratory without using sperm or eggs, two different kinds of stem cells were combined in a dish and they grew into an early form of embryo. Creating embryos from stem cells would create an unlimited supply of identical embryos for medical research. ‘Sperm magnets’,-magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS), involve collecting sperm samples that are then mixed with a marker protein- Annexin V, that contains magnetic particles, the samples are left for 15 minutes at room temperature. The protein binds to a molecule that is produced when dying sperm cells experience degeneration of their membranes. The semen samples are then passed through a magnetic field that selectively catches the unhealthy sperm, which may occur as a result of infections, smoking or exposure to environmental pollution. Healthy sperm pass through the magnetic field and are collected for use as normal in IVF. The method used in mice could result in a mouse being created without using sperm or eggs within three years. Researchers combined two different types of embryonic stem cells from mice, once combined in a dish they grew into the early stage of the embryo before it implants in the womb. When transferred into the womb, the cells initially triggered changes in the womb like those created by a normal embryo aged 3.5 days old, but failed to properly implant. According to Professor Nicholas Rivron of Maastricht University, the lead researcher, a viable mouse embryo could be created as soon as three years – but a human embryo would take decades. The main use for the embryos would be for drug testing and research. haleplushearty.org

Researchers at the University of Michigan are developing a pill that makes tumors light up when exposed to infrared light. Breast cancer patients treated with surgery or chemotherapy have tumors that are benign or so slow-growing that they would never have become life-threatening. According to a study out of Denmark, dense breast tissue hides the presence of lumps and results in deaths from treatable cancers. Researchers uses a dye that responds to infrared light to tag a molecule commonly found on tumor cells, in the blood vessels that feed tumors and in inflamed tissue. By providing specific information on the types of molecules on the surface of the tumor cells, physicians can distinguish a malignant cancer from a benign tumor. Compared to visible light, infrared light penetrates the body easily-it can get to all depths of the breast without an X-ray’s tiny risk of disrupting DNA and seeding a new tumor. Using a dye delivered orally rather than directly into a vein also improves the safety of screening, as a few patients in 10,000 can have severe reactions to intravenous dyes. These small risks turn out to be significant when tens women are screened every year. The targeting molecule has already been shown to make it through the stomach unscathed, and the liver also gives it a pass, so it can travel through the bloodstream. The team attached a molecule that fluoresces when it is struck with infrared light to this drug. Then, they gave the drug to mice that had breast cancer, and the tumors light up. Frequent ball heading rather than unintentional head impacts due to collisions causes cognition impairment said researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine have found. Efforts to reduce long-term brain injuries may be focusing too narrowly on preventing accidental head collisions. Heading has been associated with transient cognitive problems. Three hundred and eight amateur soccer players in New York City filled questionnaires detailing their recent (previous two weeks) soccer activity, including heading and unintentional head impacts. Participants also completed neuropsychological tests of verbal learning, verbal memory, psychomotor speed, attention and working memory. The players ranged in age from 18 to 55, and 78 percent were male. Players headed soccer balls an average of 45 times during the two weeks covered by the questionnaire. During that time, about one-third of the players suffered at least one unintentional head impact- kicks to the head or head-to head, head-to-ground, or head-to-goalpost collisions. Players who reported the most headings had the poorest performance on psychomotor speed and attention tasks, which are areas of functioning known to be affected by brain injury. Heading frequency also correlated with poorer performance on the working memory task, although the association was of borderline significance. In contrast, unintentional head impacts were not related to any aspect of cognitive performance. The changes in cognitive function did not cause clinical impairment, subtle, even transient reductions in neuropsychological function from heading could translate to microstructural changes in the brain that lead to persistently impaired function. Heading is a potential cause of brain injury, soccer players should reduce heading during practice and soccer games. haleplushearty.org

According to the Researchers from the Harvard Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology HSCRB, Massachusetts General Hospital MGH and Harvard Medical School HMS, and the Harvard Stem Cell Institute HSCI, exercise stimulates the heart to make new muscle cells under normal conditions and after a heart attack. The human heart has a relatively low capacity to regenerate itself. Young adults can renew around 1% of their heart muscle cells every year, and that rate decreases with age. Losing heart cells is linked to heart failure, interventions that increase new heart cell formation can prevent heart failure. To test the effects of exercise, the researchers gave one group of healthy mice voluntary access to a treadmill. When left to their own devices, the mice ran around five kilometers each day. The other healthy group had no such gym membership, and remained sedentary. To measure heart regeneration in the mice, the researchers administered a labelled chemical that was incorporated into newly made DNA as cells prepared to divide. By following the labelled DNA in the heart muscle, they could see where new cells were being produced. They discovered that the exercising mice made over four and a half times the number of new heart muscle cells than the mice without treadmill access. After experiencing a heart attack, mice with treadmill access still ran five kilometers a day, voluntarily. Compared to their sedentary counterparts, the exercising mice showed an increase in the area of heart tissue where new muscle cells were made. Daily exercise leads to regenerating of heart tissue. Maintaining a healthy heart requires balancing the loss of heart muscle cells due to injury or aging with the regeneration of heart muscle cells. haleplushearty.org

Results from examining hemp’s ability to fight cancer shows that it might be useful as plant-based treatment for ovarian cancer. Hemp is part of the same cannabis family as marijuana but doesn’t have any psychoactive properties or cause addiction. Hemp contains therapeutically valuable components such as cannabidiol, cannabinol, and tetrahydrocannabinol. Studies examined the therapeutic potential of an extract known as KY-hemp, which is produced from hemp grown in Kentucky. The plant strain, growing conditions and processing techniques were all optimized to produce an extract containing substances with potential therapeutic benefit and to eliminate any residue that could contaminate the product. In a study, the researchers found that adding various doses of KY-hemp extract to cultured ovarian cells led to significant dose-dependent slowing of cell migration. This showed that the extract might be useful for stopping metastasis- the spreading of cancer to other parts of the body. In another study, experiments with cultured ovarian cancer cells showed that KY-hemp slowed the secretion of the interleukin IL-1 beta. Interleukins produce inflammation that can be damaging and has been linked to cancer progression. The hemp-induced slowing of IL-1 β secretion represents a possible biological mechanism responsible for KY-hemp’s anti-cancer effects. The two studies showed that KY hemp is better than the current ovarian cancer drug- Cisplatin. haleplushearty.org

According to a study conducted by researchers from the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research at the University of Copenhagen, it takes 24 hours for precursor fat cell to reprogram its epigenetic recipe for developing into a fat cell, this occurs when the cell is put into contact with the fatty acid palmitate or the hormone TNF-alpha. Precursor cells are cells that have not matured to undertake a specific function in the body- the function of a muscle or fat cell. Palmitate and TNF-alpha are able to disturb the development of the cell, causing it to develop into a dysfunctional fat cell later in life. The reprogramming is found in obese patients suffering from type 2 diabetes. People are exposed to palmitate through foods that contains large amounts of saturated fat like dairy products, meat and palm oil. TNF-alpha is an inflammatory hormone that is secreted in the body during illness. Obese patients have a higher level of TNF-alpha because obesity is linked to inflammation. Healthy diet and lifestyle are essential for metabolic health for preventing reprogramming of human precursor cells because it can reverse the abnormal programming of fat precursor cells, making them healthy and functional. Epigenetic studies have suggested that human precursor cells have a memory of past environmental exposure. Researchers collected fat tissue from 43 planned operations. Fifteen patients were lean, 14 were obese and 14 were obese had suffered from type 2 diabetes. By collecting samples from these three groups of patients, the Researchers compared the health of the precursor fat cells between them by collecting their samples. They discovered that cells from the group of obese patients suffering from type 2 diabetes had been reprogrammed and did not function like normal, healthy fat cells. Exposing healthy precursor fat cells to the two external factors for just 24 hours leads to mimicing the reprogramming they had observed in cells from the diabetic patients. A synthetic gene network serves as an early warning for cancer growth, common types of cancer are prostate, lung, colon and breast cancer. Cancers develop when the level of calcium in the blood is elevated due to the developing tumour. The early warning system comprises a genetic network that biotechnologists integrate into human body cells, which in turn are inserted into an implant. This encapsulated gene network is then implanted under the skin where it constantly monitors the blood calcium level. When the calcium level exceeds a particular threshold value over a longer period of time, a signal cascade is triggered that initiates production of the body’s tanning pigment melanin in the genetically modified cells. The skin then forms a brown mole. The mole appears long before the cancer becomes detectable through conventional diagnosis. The researchers used calcium as the indicator of the development of the four types of cancer, as it is regulated strongly in the body. Bones serve as a buffer that can balance out concentration differences. However, when too much calcium is detected in the blood, this may serve as a sign for one of the four cancers. Moles developed when the calcium concentration reached a high level. haleplushearty.org

Male contraceptive is a form of male birth control method for preventing pregnancy, common male contraceptive methods are vasectomy and the use of condom. Vasectomy is a surgical procedure for male sterilization, it is a permanent method. Condom is a sheath-shaped barrier device used during sexual intercourse to prevent pregnancy, it is not 100% reliable. A compound called EP055 binds to sperm proteins to slow the motility of the sperm without affecting hormones. According to the lead investigator, Michael O’Rand, PhD, retired professor of cell biology and physiology in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, and president/CEO of Eppin Pharma, Inc, the compound turns off the sperm’s ability to swim and limit fertilization. Hormonal drugs made from the compound in clinical trials target the production of sperm without affecting the natural hormones in men. Thirty hours following a high-dose intravenous infusion of EP055 in male rhesus macaques, O’Rand and researchers in the Oregon National Primate Research Center at OHSU in Portland, Oregon, found no indication of normal sperm motility without side effects and the sperm motility is reversible by discontinuing taking the drug.
