you are speaking in riddles, combining queen english with pidgin. young man, if UBA or TOE has done you wrong, move to another bank.NB, even if all the users on this forum stop banking with UBA, it would still remain the largest bank in Africa. there is a proverb that says that you cannot cut an iroko tree with one strike of a cutlass, it would take over a thousand strike to bring it down
Mr English Master.
Did u forget to score d poor boy?
At least he was able to pass a message.
The point is the kind of discrimination faced by HND holders is just too much.
Mind you, No bank is strong without customers.
and by the way , who told you that UBA is the largest bank in Africa.
UBA aims to be Africa's sixth largest bank in Africa in 2010

According to the group MD and CEO of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Tony Elumelu, the Nigerian bank's ambition is to become the 6th largest bank in Africa by 2010, with long term plans to mature as the leading African bank.

Addressing the press on the bank's outstanding performance for financial year 2007, Elumelu stated that the impressive performance in the financial year is indicative of the bank's readiness to sustain its leadership of the Nigerian banking industry and successfully challenge for continental leadership in terms of scale and profitability.

The UBA group MD, who lamented the dearth of generational businesses among Africans, said UBA is ready to show that as well as being successful athletes, Africans can run successful global businesses as well.

He said the bank's record growth since the 2005 merger, attributing it to its hardworking employees. He explained further that the bank's balance sheet has had a cumulative average growth rate (CAGR) of 89% between 2005 and 2007, rising from N333bn in 2005 to N1.64bn in 2007. Deposit base, he explained has had a cumulative average growth rate of 86%, leaping from N205bn in 2005 to N872bn in 2007 while profit before tax was also on the high by 86% from N6.5bn in post merger to N29.5bn in 2007.

Responding to questions on how UBA's profitability could enliven the real sector of the economy, Elumelu said, “The challenges facing the real sector in Nigeria go beyond the narrow perspective of just providing capital. Capital is necessary but not the only ingredient for real sector growth. Infrastructure is key and that is why UBA's partnership with the China Development Bank will provide a veritable platform for infrastructure development, not just in Nigeria, but also in the rest of Africa.”

According to the UBA MD, the bank, in collaboration with the China Development Bank will identify and fund projects in key areas of the Nigerian economy such as energy, road and railways, oil & gas, among others.

To be frank, i am not an HND holder but the kind of treatment metted on polytechnic graduates in the banking industry most especially your darling UBA (with one of the worst remuneration in the industry)is saddening.

@jayon

One difference btw reasonable individuals and nitwits is that reasonable people think about consequences and implications of actions before doing anything.I wonder wat u stand to gain from the book you advertised 'the fall of islam'?
I believe this forum unifies many individuals, mostly the knowledgeable ones but its so unfortunate that while some people contribute meaningfully some contribute negatively.

i dont know how pius or educated u really are but i guess u  certainly do not know the value of any -if u have at all.

if u die today are u sure of making heaven?

what good impact have u had on the lives of people?

Preach more of your religion and win more souls rather than enjoying unreasonable slander.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Wema Bank Is In Trouble: Gmd to be Sacked ! by hammers(m): 11:07am On Jan 24, 2008
Sweet T:
I heard that Wema bank board of directors will soon be dissolved, investigations revealed that the bank is headed for the rocks and employee will soon start losing their jobs. There is a strong feeling that wema bank is not the only bank going through this problems, there are so many Nigerian banks that are cooking their books. I hope some of you that has account with wema will be wise enough to start withdrawing their money. I'm not surprise at wema's problems at all. Any organizations headed by the Ekitis always end up like this, look at Ekiti state on its own. If you are wise enough and want to keep your hard earned money, steer clear of wema and intercontinental banks. They are bunch of fakes.
when sending posts please try to be factual.you are a bit far from the truth.
the present problem has more to do with some members of the bank's managment approving fraudulent internal loans for themselves.
as for the health of the bank; information from relevant sources reveals that the bank is doing well and very healthy.

i see no reason why you have to demarket WEMA without having genuine information.

WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR INFORMATION FROM?
CareerWema Bank MD: Sacked Or Truly On Leave? by hammers(op): 12:19pm On Jan 23, 2008

HI , FRIENDS, A COUPLE OF WEEKS BACK I HAD A POST RELATING TO HOW FRIENDLY THE MANAGEMENT OF MY DEAR PURPLE COLOUR BANK IS TOWARDA ITS STAFF.I MADE REFERENCE TO THE MANNER OF DIFFICULTIES ECOUNTERED BY STAFF INTRESTED IN PROGRESSIVE LOANS LIKE CAR LOANS.
ITS SURPRISING THAT IN THE SAME BANK WHERE STAFF ARE FACING SUCH DIFFICULTIES, JUST AN INDIVIDUAL HAS A WHOOPING SUM OF 450 MILLION NAIRA 'HOUSING LOAN' ALL TO HIMSELF.

THE Managing Director of Wema Bank Plc., Mr. Adebisi Omoyeni, was sent on compulsory leave by the regulatory authorities in the banking sector.

This development is contrary to the assertion of the bank that its MD went on annual leave without prodding from any quarters.

According to the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Omoyeni was directed to proceed on compulsory leave.

The Managing Director of NDIC, Mr. Ganiyu Ogunleye, speaking in Abuja through the corporation’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Hadi Birchi, said Omoyeni remained on compulsory leave.

Disclosing that Omoyeni was on compulsory leave, the NDIC said it would not disclose how long the leave would last.

“He is on compulsory leave and not on suspension. The corporation wouldn’t be able to disclose. It may be a month, a year or two years,” he said.

Though the NDIC refused to disclose the reasons for Omoyeni’s leave, a source in NDIC told the Nigerian Tribune that it was to allow for unhindered investigation into his activities at the bank.

Nigerian Tribune learnt that the decision to send Omoyeni on ‘compulsory leave’ was reached at a meeting last Friday, involving members of the board, as well as officials of the CBN and the NDIC.

At the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), it was gathered that Omoyeni’s problems arose from a breach in “prudential guidelines.”

Omoyeni was alleged to have collected N450 million “housing grant” for five years upfront at N90 million per year.

Meanwhile, the board of directors of Wema Bank has decided to petition President Umaru Yar’Adua over the crisis in the bank.

The board is accusing a top official of CBN of orchestrating the crisis in the bank.

CareerRe: How Staff Friendly Is Your Bank? by hammers(op): 10:47am On Jan 04, 2008
to me:
when u talk about staff friendliness u are right to want to know but customers are the main reasons why they are still in operation.if not for the customers then the staff will not enjoy their management.a bank with exciting figures on their balance sheet will surely treat their staff right.
Really,it necessary for the banks to improve on their customer relation ethics.

i agree with people that said UBA is the worst both to customers andd also to their staff.its sad
I think you are not 100% right. A bank like UBA with one of the biggest balance sheets has one of the worst packages and remuneration for its staff.Despite the recent salary increment in UBA its staff are still one of the least paid in the industry.
