Statistics show that the chances of poverty happening to those who first established themselves financially before marriage are significantly lower than poverty remaining the lot of those who entered into marriage while living in poverty. Again, you have Nigeria as a test case to work with. It is a country where the vast majority of those stuck in poverty today were not only raised in poverty themselves but also chose to get married and start a family before escaping the clutches of poverty. What we have today, with over 50 million families living under abject poverty and with many others struggling to keep from being dragged below by it, is not by chance.

Poverty does not follow people. Rather, poverty happens to people, and it does so in the form of shackles — their decision-making abilities, outlook, and way of life are impacted by it. But the good is that people can, even then, through self education/awareness, individuals can decide against poverty.

I really don't know what we are arguing about here. Do what works for you and advice people around you to do whatever. If I know a young lady or man in their 20s with a good job, and has a good, kind partner with similar or better financial standing they want to do life with I will encourage them.

Please seek advice from people who have been in same situation as you, single parents with sole custody order. The little I know from reading from people who have gone through such getting consent letter or whatever from the other parent when you supposedly have a court order giving you sole custody will mess up your application. But can't give much advice as haven't been in said situation
