A Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State, and presided over by Justice Simon Amobeda, has denied journalist, Agba Jalingo, bail.

Jalingo was arraigned on September 25, 2019 on four count charges of treasonable felony, terrorism and attempt to topple the Cross River State Government after 34 days in police custody.

Justice Amobeda, who also threw out the preliminary objection of the prosecution counsel, held that the charges were grave with one carrying a capital punishment.

He also said that one of the grounds for which bail was applied for was health and there was no substantial evidence to prove that his health was failing.

Jalingo was arrested and is being prosecuted for publishing a report exposing how Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River approved and immediately diverted N500m meant for Cross River State Microfinance bank.

Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), counsel to the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, has described the conditions of his client’s bail as “stringent.”

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Friday granted bail to Sowore.

As part of his bail conditions, Sowore was barred from addressing any rally pending the conclusion of his trial on charges of treasonable felony, among others.

He was also barred from traveling out of Abuja while the trial lasts.

Ojukwu granted bail to Sowore in the sum of N100m, with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, who must be resident in Abuja, must also have landed assets worth the bail sum in Abuja, and they are to deposit the original title documents of the assets with the court.

The judge also ordered him to deposit the sum of N50m in the account of the court as security.

His lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), described the bail conditions as “stringent.”

Sowore and his co-defendant will be remanded in the custody of the Department of State Service pending when they would meet the bail conditions.

I plan to roof a single storey building (5-bedroom ensuite) and need rough idea of the total cost using steptile aluminium sheet.

I will also want to know if parapet (cast in-situ and not the precast type) is necessary other than for aesthetic - the advantages/disadvantages. Cost idea for that too will also be appreciated.

Cost for both roofing and parapet should be all encompassing...wood, nail, sheets, etc.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has not received Abdulrasheed Maina, a former chairman of Pension Reform Task Team, who
was arrested in Abuja on Monday by the Department of State Services,Daily Trust says.

The EFCC had in 2017 declared Maina wanted for allegedly complicit in the over N2 billion pensions biometrics contract scam in the office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

He was reportedly re-arrested by operatives of the DSS, at a hotel recently in Abuja Monday and whisked away by agents of the DSS.

However, when contacted yesterday, the spokesman for the DSS, Peter Afunanya, said: “I have no information about Abdulrasheed Maina.”

Charged against Maina include money laundering, obtaining money by false pretence, breach of trust, cheating, official corruption,
embezzlement of public fund and abuse of office.

A federal court in Abuja had last year restrained the EFCC from declaring Maina wanted, the judgment the commission had said it would
appeal.
