The truth of the matter is that if you want local government autonomy of whatever you call it,you have to change the constitution completely. Even the constitution says the LG is under the control of the state government.

Worldwide there is nowhere there is 3 federating units. It is always two. The Federal and state.

In a true federalism like it's practised in the US. The LG is under the control of the states. The US has over 80,000LG and states create LG as they wish.

Here in Nigeria,coupled with the fact that the money being given to the LG are not even enough to pay salaries and that is why the states created joint LG accounts to offset the bills of LG since 1999.

All states have been offsetting the bills of LG because even the money they collect isn't up to anything

It was Giwon who abolished the 4 Region's Nigeria had, and replaced them with 12 states, using Decree 14

Then Gowon introduced full blown unitary rule by abolishing resource control with Decree 15

Those places are called "agbo ile" where every Ibadan son and Daughter have their ancestral homes. That is how it has always been. Most of those houses are over 100years old

My own agbo ile in Isale Alfa,Ibadan clocked 90 this year. My Grandfather built it in 1934.

Most of those houses are now.empty and those that are not empty are inhabited by people that live in them for almost free.

The Old part of the city and they shall be till the very end of time.

There are Ironsi's 4 Regional Military Governors for the 4 Regions Nigeria had at the time. He did not add or subtract from them until he died. So you can carry on believing the lie if you so wish

What Ironsi abolished was democracy, but not the Region's themselves

Ironsi didn't abolish Democracy. He didn't even participate in the coup. The coupists of 1966 did. They wanted a New country deviod of corruption. Was surprised everything they fought against in 1966 is now still in vogue on a far bigger scale.

In fairness to Ironisi being the Chief of Army staff as at that time,he was the one that stopped the coup and made it fail,but he decided not to follow the requests of the coupists and making Awolowo the President.

He saw the failure of the coup as an avenue of perpetuating himself into power.
