Same here. I what is sin to even start with. And why is it that we can correct most with surgeries. So god expects us to correct consequence of sin with surgeries? Does this mean we could also solve death and gain immortality though medicine and science? I after all sin is also said to be responsible for death

Christianity Etc › IN WHOSE/WHAT'S IMAGE ARE THESE CHILDREN CREATED? MAN FIXING GOD by HardMirror(op):
TO ME THE MOST GLARING PROOF That THE NONE EXISTENCE OF THE ABRAHAMIC GOD Is only a reasonable conclusion can be vividly arrived at when we ask questions that weighs reality with what we are to believe and to me the best demonstration is from children born in innocence. Why would God create such children. I more importantly, I why should surgeons be responsible for such children born with defects.? Why can't we just take them to God in prayer. I wonder if God can separate conjoined twins for example. Does this provoke some logical thoughts?

ok ok i would have loved to entertain you all with stories and tall tales that are cliche in our Nigerian society; where we attribute our failures to spiritual causes and never address the real issue which would usually require taking responsibility for our mistakes, carelessness, stupidity, incompetency and whatever we did wrong that lead to our failures and regrettable outcome.

it is soothing to have people surround you and you all busy yourselves with tales of unseen and imaginary causes of your failures, you even get sympathy and sometimes help just for blaming your failure on something spiritual than admitting your oor decisions or ACTIONS THAT LEAD TO YOUR predicament.

How many of those stories we busy ourselves sharing and deceiving ourselves, praying over and enemy that is none other than ourselves.

Recently, i got into some terrible financial mess and had a huge backlog of deficit to clear. well, none of my family members nor friends were sympathetic to my plight when i kept telling them i miscalculated and took risks that did not pan off.
enter the stories
Then i hard to submit to their itchy ears and tongues. stories of how i had been experiencing invisible cobwebs entangling me, of unexplainable contract loses and links to members of my family that did not want my progress.
switching the blame to "enemies" gave amazing results, they all started listening to me and offering help,... smh. what a world.

how much of those sensational stories you hear are true?

no professionalism in this country

a country where doctors are highly superstitious, it is cliche to hear doctors say " We scanned and tested but we found nothing, maybe you should consult a spiritual solution provider" that is the fvcked up society we live in.

ok a lady suggested the mother monitors if her husband is touching the little girl and y'all started bashing her. I bet y'all don't know things are happening these days.. I repeat thing really weird and strange are happening.

the little girl says he like the way the boy touches her and y'all think is the first time she's been touched to even get a feeling?

things are happening! watch that girl closely. watch the things she's been exposed to.

some parents will be so daft and careless to have porns on their phone and not put a lock on it and leaves their children to play games with same phones and you think their young minds won't explore?

parents these children are your responsibility!

at her age I was painting with wax/oil crayons not catching feelings.

something is not right
where did a lady suggest that and who bashed herhuh
anyway, i doubt her dad touche her in any suggestive way. she i a girl that communicate well with her parent and sister and she was very specific about the boy she was singing about. but your point i applicable to many abuse cases. thanks sir

the mum did not need to spank her... the child simply has a faster mental development than her age mates and is becoming aware of different human feelings but unfortunately she cannot explore this one because she's too young to understand it...I'm sure she's Innocent if not she wouldn't have told anyone about it.
the mum should just manage her by trying to answer any of her questions and teach as simple as possible why it is wrong to feel such at a tender age and not scare her in a way that will damage her psych about boys.
Truth be told I had feelings for ladies even from a very young age like her, but they were thoughts that I never dared explore. I opened this thread not because the girl did anything wrong but I feel a lot of parent are having this challenge and mismanaging the situation.

I need matured contributions please.

I have a 6 year old cousin who came back from school yesterday only to start talking and singing about being in love with a boy in her class. She even made statements about how she likes when he touches her.
It is a shock to me.
Her mum spanked her and warned her sternly to keep away from the boy with some threats.
I strongly disagree this is the best way to handle the situation as it may only make the Gilmore discrete as she grows older.

Is there any parent having the same challenge here and what did you do.

TheEminentLaity:
Thanks. The problem is certainly not genetic, good thing it isn't because Nigeria as it is today presents all sorts of problems and troubles that prompts everyone living here to wonder and ask if there is something inherently wrong with us. But it's more about intellectual laziness combined with culture and traditions enforced by religion and superstition. The best method to connect with the minds of great thinkers and inventors over time is by reading their works and I am better for it. Intelligence grows and people get better with training and education. The internet has made the world smaller with the ease of access to information, and nigerians must start looking.

Today, I engaged an former classmate of mine, currently in the civil service, and told him 10 years from now nobody in the west would go for lectures with notebooks and pens. Imagine mobile phones ten years ago, perhaps, we could be so connected that actual contact time with lecturers would almost be non-existent.

In contrast, It is really unfortunate that the political class are, maybe unconsciously from our ultra-conservative nature, keeping the future generations more and more at a disadvantage such that even in Lagos there are schools without roofs, desks and books and school children without any materials. Twenty years ago, a prospective student in the third world with a scholarship may not have had to deal with so much computerisation, currently, you are by default expected to learn and express your ideas using computers with decent typing speed. I have written my representatives, but Nigeria is just one hell of a place.

The future is in science and technology, by now it is no longer an expectation that anybody with some form of education should know how to operate computers. Humans are evolving into weaker species with much more developed brains and with increasing competition, it's no longer the strong that survives but the people with higher intellect.

Your father did great for his family. So should everyone. Like yours, my father was very poor and did well to afford us good education. I would for mine as well and my community. Education of true learning and curiosity cannot be overemphasised. More so now than ever. As for Nigeria, a referendum would be a good restart. We need to decide whether we want to create a decent society or this chaos we have now.

I agree with you. You know there are more genes for intelligence on the X chromosome than the Y, so 'educate a woman and you educate a nation' is actually scientific. wink
You are an objective man. You got my respect sir.
We are not being emotional (as someone claimed earlier) nor are we patronizing the black race when we sayu we are not intellectually inferior to any race. It is just plain obvious the black man is not lackingninnintelectualismnelse the discuss that has transpired on this thread would not have taken place. I don't see dolts on this thread, I see intellectuals.
The dolts and the problem of Africa are those who would never engage in any discuss that does not immediately bring food to their table.

Ignoring for now your false assumption that all sub-Saharan Africans have been enslaved, where exactly do you think the very word "slave" comes from? Have you ever bothered to examine its etymology? Here, let me help you out

https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/slave#Etymology

Ever heard of the tale of Roxelana? She was a Slav captured during a slave raid by the Tatars, who eventually ended up in the harem of the Ottoman Sultan. This happened in the 16th century, the same period during which the first black slaves were brought to the colony of Virginia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roxelana

In fact, the Ottoman trade in European slaves was still quite healthy in the 17th century, and only fully stopped in the 19th century, with the rise of Russia and Britain.

And then there's the whole "genocide of the Native Americans" thing to consider, which happened despite their having built civilizations even the Europeans were willing to acknowledge as such.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genocide_of_indigenous_peoples#Colonization_and_genocide_in_the_Americas

Going back further in time, how much more humiliating and oppressive does it get than to have your holiest temple desecrated and razed to the ground, your capital demolished, and your people forbidden from even setting foot on their own soil on pain of death, with huge numbers of those who weren't slaughtered on the spot being marched off to a distant land as slaves to be worked to death? That's exactly what happened to the Jews after their failed revolts against the Roman Empire, and it only took them 2,000 years of exile in ghettos, religious pogroms, expulsions, and too many other varieties of oppression to name, culminating in their industrialized murder between 1941 and 1945. Tell me anything in the black experience that approaches that level of sustained suffering!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish%E2%80%93Roman_wars
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Holocaust

Your assumptions about the uniquely wretched and humiliated nature of "sub Saharan Africans" only reveal how lacking in historical knowledge you are, a deficit that renders you incapable of taking a proper perspective on how the various peoples of the world have fared. Your belief that being a victim of oppression must be because of a deficit in one's abilities, character, or knowledge, only says something about your own mindset, which seeks to always identify with the "winning" side at any cost, even at the cost of self-respect.
Pls pls pls. Slavery is not why we are so backward as a continent. We have no excuse, our forefathers messed up and we seem to be messing up too. We could have been the ones enslaving the whites or be so powerful they could not slave us. We had the mental capability, but our thinking was not right. Our paradigm what wrong and retrogressive
Let us stop blaming slavery. If slavery is to be blamed, then it begs the question, how did we end up as slaves? Why did we not enslave the whites instead? Why were we not powerful enough to resist the whites of dehumanizing us?

awe of an unabitious mind. A closed minded african who would rather believe some extraordinary gift has been bestowed on a race and would willingly commit his race to their servitude.

A testament to what can be achieved by any race, country or people, if they set their minds to it. Plcing the achievements of these so called advanced countries to be a genetical advantage based/driven superior intellect at play. What a shame.

This is really shocking and incredible. What the fucking hell. This is self-loathing and self-degradation at its apogee. What came over you? What kind of heritage, breeding, peerage or "exposure" could make a Black African so contemptuous of his own identity to such an extent that he propagates the myth of Negroid inferiority with such zeal and enthusiasm? How does admitting such ridiculous bullshit help solve our problems? Trudax, several sane persons on this thread in a bid to make you see reason and ditch such toxic orientation have provided well-grounded points on why this extremely false AND offensive assertion of yours is an idea worth ditching into the trash bin, which even the vast majority of Caucasians themselves have consigned into the reeking dustbin of history, with all its awful stench and nauseous aura. The mere existence of this thread is a disgrace. We shouldn't be having this discussion.

I've intereacted with teenagers like myself from other races, Americans, British and Germans and I've never seen anything indicative of intellectual superiority. In fact, the vast majority of them, especially those of the American variety, are way dumber than the dictionary definition of dumb. You keep mentioning averages, averages like that's what provides you with the oxygen you breathe.... What exactly are you talking about? What averages? Do you really think it's that simple? Are we to imagine that intelligence is the only factor that contributed to other races outperforming the Negroids? Wouldn't that be ridiculous, intellectually crude, and disgustingly moronic? Every single one of your conclusions is invalid, and by virtue of my Negritude and the insult dealt me by your pseudo-scientific claptrap, I hereby declare them anathema, along with the one who made them - you, like a Medieval European Orthodox Catholic Priest. You keep accusing every person who makes a reasonable submission of irrational emotionalism and lack of objectivity, as if you yourself are the epitome of objectivity and the beacon of rationality.

Have you considered how human history played out up to this point? Isn't that a very important factor? What about EXCEPTIONALLY RARE CHANCE EVENTShuh Or, considering those is no good for your purposes, 'cos they will show how flawed your premises are and have your arguments destroyed on the hard rock of reason, hun, Almighty objective Trudax? What about ENVIRONMENT? That's another important factor. You can't just center it around intelligence. There are too many chance events in history to be overlooked, most of which had they not happened, things would have been completely different today, and the shoe we wear down here in Sub-Saharan Africa will probably be on the other foot. This attitude of yours is an insult to every Negroid with a sense of pride and and self-worth out there. It is a disgrace, and very deserving of the sort of contempt with which it was met, and even much more.

Whatever the problem of Sub-Saharan Africa is, it certainly isn't purely intellectual, neither does it have anything to do with intellectual inferiority on the part of we Africans with respect to other races (WTF!!!), no matter how much you claim otherwise. It is much more complex than you assume and has a lot more to do with history, environment, and society (as moulded by historical, environmental and cultural factors), and having this kind of pointless discussion will only create more problems than solve any of the numerous ones on ground. There is everything wrong with this topic of yours. Shed that cloak you're wearing. Snap out of that shit quick.
there is no doubt those who think the negro race are inferior to other races are so in awe of the oganization and technological advancement of the caucasian and mongoloid dominated countries, BUT they fail to recognize that this is not a proof of the intellectual superiority of these communities but a function of influences in these communities. Leadership influences from philosophers of the great ancient Greek kingdom, the birth of the modern era intellectuallism, championed by great minds such as Aristotle, Socrates, Pluto and their schools. Their influence on leaderships of their communities and those responsible for medicine, politics and the military. How these great minds have been able to influence a school of thought that is the bedrock of scientific and technological even political revolution... Philosophy.
What about china, Japan, can we exempt their development from the inflences in philosophy even from the very Great Budha himself to confusus, influences that are evident in the leadership that has transformed a small fishing community known as japan into the technological hub it is today.
We quickly forget that their mathematical prowess is not an hereditory ability, but a cultural necessity based on the mandate parents put on their children even from their craddle years. A japanese or chinese parent would not tolerate his child being average, they are highly competitive and invest a lot to ensure that their children are the best academically. Their schools teach complex mathematical methods even from very early schooling stages.
Africa is lacking this sort of culture.
It is all about paradigm shift not a problem of genetics or being negros.
Being mongoloid or caucasian is not a provision for high intellect, it is merely an evolutionary adaptation to environment for a specie, the Homo sapian, which years of research and mental competitions in schools and offices has shown that the negros can reason and excel even better than the caucasian race, proving intelligence is not unique to a race.

The argument in itself seems to have been resolved. Whilst West-Africa is no doubt an eyesore and seems to have no progressive works, its mainly as a result of cultural and prevailing religious beliefs, not "race".

A good example, ironically would be the Asian countries and their path to national self development. Lengthy readings on these nations gives me hope about the progress of this continent

I understand the OPs frustration however. Our society just seems rooted in anti-curiousity and promotes blind obedience. I can't count the number of times teachers, supposed custodians of knowledge have asked students to " swallow it like that"!!

Imagine the whole V.C of a "great" university asking you to pray against "witchcraft".

So I understand the OP
that is just it. The skin color or genetics is not the problem. It is very evident that the black man has the capacity for creativity and high intellectuallism. Now where did all these new age intellect start from.
Those who read and know history would know that the europeans have the Greeks to thank for the modern age intellectuallism. When I say Greeks, I mean the great Greek philosophers. I mean the Aristotles, pluto, Socrates and their students. Without philosophy there is no modern age intellectuallism, we as a specie cannot expand the scope of our reasoning beyond primitive survival.
Africa lacked philosophers who could challenge our dark age life philosophies. We believe so much in destiny and the will of god. We as a race could not adventure beyond the "provisions of the gods". Adventure, the will to conquer is the reason for the development of other countries dominated by other races.
Europe had a will to conquer the world. This lead the the building of modern ships that could travel far, research in medicine due to deseases they encountered in their voyages and the diseases they infected other people with. Adventure was the reason they developed.
Japan. A queit fishing island is one of the most technologically advanced countries today. It is due to a desire to conquer.
China prides themselves not in wealth, but in competetion. A very competitive country. It has become an asian culture to mount pressure on their children to excel academically. The japanese and chinese children all are under strict and compulsory mandate to be excellent in all they do. The academic training is rigurous and pushes them to their limits. Sports? They push them to their limits at a very early age. They are on a competitive fire.
Africa? Lol. A continent of mediocres people who see no competition and have no thirst to conquer the world. You know what we want to conquer? Our families, our little communities. We want to be local champions...

Take a look at this thread, how many people are even interested in a philosophycal discuss here? They see those of us contributing as jobless and stvpid. You know why? The average black man would ask you "how does that bring food to my table?"

The capacity is there, but our culture and priority as a people is our bane.

We have a will, an ability to make decisions in ways no other terrestrial being can. We are eternal. Let's just cancel that as that is simply beyond the scope of this class as has been proven. It's like teaching calculus to a fish.
in which in this case you are not even worth being called a fish. Perhaps a worm. Listen to yourself. What is so special about diamonds? Of cos it is not special to does who don't give a damn about it. A diamonds worth is purely subjective. It is valuable because a group of people value it. You are of no value to me cos I have no need for you, you value is subjective. So is mine. The human race has no value we can identify, else don't wast our time. Tell me point blank what is the value of mankind to the cosmos?
Your comment is just an expression of egoism. You say humans are most intelligent and all, so we are special on earth. Special to what? Special to the mountains or the oceans? We are insignificant, we are not even worth a speck in all of existance. We can't infuence our solar system talkless of our universe. You have no idea how vast space is... Else you would understand we have no bearing on the future of our cosmos. When it is time, we would be wiped out without any ceremony and used as an insignificant amount of fuel, burned up in the vastness of space

If we are equally intelligent then why aren't we creating susperb systems like them? Why aren't we able to organize ourselves and create functional societies like theirs. Why aren't we able to solve our problems like them? Why aren't we making groud breaking discoveries and inventing things like them? Why are we easily fooled and dominated by them?
*smiles* no one can deny the fact that we have failed to attain dominance as a race. BUT is it because we are incapable of high level of reasoning? Absolutely No.
Let's stop making it seem it is a genetic or race issue. It is about our retrogresive priorities as a people, not because of Negroism, not because we are black, but because of the society we have. One were it is easier to blame spiritual forces for our woes than to take responsibility. Even that ability is a proof of intelligence, refusing to take responsibility actually requires high level of intelligence. But it has been our bane. We are capable of achieving all that has ever been achieved by anyother race, but it would take a lot to wipe out our cultural issues which makes us laid-back and irresponsible, misdirected and unmotivated for anything beyond what our culture celebrates

Jeez! undecided Where or when did I say that? I am a black african man, pure breed from my full african ancestors and I'm a not doing badly in academics. I could probably be used as motivation for young black africans who live in Nigeria and aspire to study and do research in the sciences at elite universities or even go further to aspire for a Nobel prize in science. But, I'm just one person. The average needs to go up. For every, say, Okonjo Iweala in 160m Nigerians, there are a thousand to ten thousand among 120m Japanese. Not everyone would get into Harvard or become that prolific but educated people won't elect id!ots over and over again especially those that contributed to it's regression in the first place worse still celebrate them. Besides, education makes people much more tolerant and sensible. Our averages need to go up because the result is what is apparent when you look at the level of underdevelopment and mediocrity celebrated by black people. Nigerians have to get serious and more of our people need to come in.

In my uni there were just a handful of black people in my department, just three africans (all Nigerians) and it gets less the higher up you go but you would think that the way Nigerians go for degrees you would find a lot of them there. So the argument about black people coming out top in foreign universities while true, doesn't paint a very accurate picture. Rather, how many are coming out top in elite foreign universities because there are many community colleges in the US, for example, that have lower standards in comparison.

There are generally fewer intelligent people as there are unintelligent people but this talk is about averages not potential (how do you even determine potential especially when one isn't trying at all?) The OP asked a question, and my response from observation is that we, speaking as a Nigerian, we have never shown (we won't have been captured if otherwise) have not and are still not showing in anyway anything other than intellectual inferiority to other races from the increased likelihood of poverty, disorganisation, and underdevelopment within black circles. Could it be genetic? Likely, because behaviours are similar within black african nations. However, I cannot outrightly say that. But the evidence needs to prove otherwise.
From the op is it not obvious that negros are condemned as inferior to other races as if by genetic makeup of being negros. I insist that our failures are not caused by inherent deficiency in intellectuallism but perhaps cultural, environmental influences that makes us docile. It is proven time and over again that we can reason at any level other races can, that is good enough for me to know we are not inferior genetically. It is not about being a black man biologically, our deficiency is in the black culture and priorities of the black society
