Hi Guys,

Trust the start to the week was stress free.

So in my search for stories written by Nigerians who have moved to Canada, I came across this blog post (Blackmigrantgirl[dot]c-o-m) where the writer shared her experience on moving to Canada from Nigeria and what she has had to go through in settling down. From quitting her luxurious job in Nigeria, to the stress she faced getting a new job in Canada and trying to find a suitable apartment etc. I wish she would post her "application timeline" here as previous PRs have done.

Anyways, she is quite vivid in her stories, it almost feels like one is with her as she goes around. I literally read all her posts in one sitting. Apparently, she also did a twitter thread (Blackmigrantgrl/status/1001289127155777536) where she highlighted things she noticed were different from the Nigerian culture she was used to.

Thought to share this post, as it may give us an idea of what to expect on eventually moving to the Red Maple Leaf country. Especially for those of us who recently got the COPR and are preparing to move.

By the way, this is not an advert of any sort o but I hope postings like this are not against the rules.

I was finally able to check my IELTS result today.
It was a mess, but I should retake sometime in the year

I was really disappointed at myself

You dont have to be disappointed, just take this as a challenge and prepare well!

As for me, I will rewrite June 30th

Result is finally out, not too good LRSW 9, 6.5, 7.5, 6.5
I intend writing ASAP, saw a slot for this weekend with MOD for June 2 and next available date afterwards is June 30th.

Your MSc certificate is enough, you dont need more than two certificates.

As for NYSC, i'll leave that to the gurus...

I just want to testify that I've crossed this Ielts hurdle���.

First with BC LRWS 8.5, 9, 6.5, 7.5. I applied for the EOR and decided to sit for another one... 7 weeks and counting still no result... Thankfully, I won't be needing it.

2nd time with MOD IDP LRWS 8, 9, 8, 8...

Glory be to God.

Lastly, I just want to encourage everyone still trying to cross the Ielts hurdle, it is gonna happen. Keep your chin up and keep trying. It'll all end in praise.

If you recall, my experience on test day with MOD at its Lagos mainland centre was terrible but it ended in praise.

I wrote the IELTS test with BC today in Port Harcourt. The venue was filled and we used about 2-3 halls. It was well organised, we started at around few mins past 9 and ended around 12:25pm for the LRW tests.
Overall it was fine, and hope the outcome in 13 days time will end in praise...

i had my speaking test yesterday in PH, it went well. The assessor was quite nice as we gisted for about 3-5 minutes before starting the test.
Part 1 was on where do you live? How far is it from here? how long have you lived there? What do you do?

Part 2: Cue card
What do you understand as a perfect vacation or holiday (something lik that)
where will you go to?
What will you do there?
Why will you go there?

Part 3:
Do you think vacation/holiday is good for employees?
Dont you think vacations are expensive
What types of holidays do people have in your country?
Do you think it is beneficial to organizations?
Some employees do not go for vacations or holiday? WHat are the reasons.

I had to paraphrase some of the questions

I have the LRW on Saturday and afterwards countdown to the results to join the pool..

Congrats to all those that received PPR today.
Myself and my spouse are writing the IELTS test next week,I got my ECA from WES yesterdat but surprising my spouse got an email today that the transcript is not acceptable.

Reason: The envelope in which the document was received was NOT sealed by the appropriate authority as required by WES.

Instructions: Please arrange for the document to be placed in an official sealed envelope and resubmit your document in accordance with the Required Documents instructions for your country of education.

The school sent it directly to WES and the person we called said that is how they have been sending it and if they have doubts they should email the school for confirmation.

I dont have luxury of time So we will have to arrange for another one

It must surely end in Praise ooooo

No you can't. You have to do the document by document evaluation for immigration purposes. Good thing is that you can always convert your evaluation to suit specific purposes. After WES for IRCC, you can always request that they convert it to the one for academic purposes i.e. course by course evaluation.
