PoliticsRe: Nairaland Says No To Secessionists by HaroldFinch(m): 9:04am On Dec 11, 2015
The interpretations and meanings that are attributed to posts sometimes baffle me. Seun's stance to me is proper in the circumstance. Nairaland from the name represents a unified Nigeria and at best, people promoting cecession shouldn't use this platform as vanguard. I don't see his comments to hold any bias, rather, it protects his investment, prevents nairaland from being subject of a pull down and a form of disclaimer should any post be found incriminating by the government. Yes, freedom of speech, association, thought and expression are guaranteed under the Constitution. but these freedoms are also qualified, with certain forms of restrictions. Radio Biafra existed on its own, Seun's comment is simply urging those interested to get their own website.

Well, those issues were not placed before the Supreme Court. Wike will have to trash those ones out in his main appeal against the judgment of the tribunal.
PoliticsRe: Supreme Court Delivers Judgment On Wike’s Appeal Today by HaroldFinch(m): 10:27am On Oct 27, 2015
well, I am in court and Wike just lost. Supreme court agreed with the security reasons excuse and distinguished Ibori's case as this present one had security challenges in rivers. and that President of court of appeal had the power to relocate the tribunal to Abuja. no merit in Appeal . Appeal dismissed....

You can get first hand information here in nairaland.com than any other site , secondly nairaland.com is the must informative if you talk about fta , dongle etc compresses of many guru
Nairalanders.... always taking every post as abusive or insulting. Are you back from ur break? guys were here without info and everything seems quiet. so what's the harm in sharing a link I check everyday? it doesn't remove any value from nairaland. again, please check DT blog. I don't believe you. Be empirical please.

Its great that less money was spent, but it shouldn't end at that. This is all politics as elrufai didn't tell us how much he spent for it as an Fct minister.

I insist at crunch time, this post will not matter.

Great, less was spent.
I agree with you, it's mere talk without concrete facts. We need an NGO to help monitor government spendings. My take from all these is that the level of transparency and accountability is increasing and the APC led government is giving us the tools to judge them.

give me the fact to prove they spent N22bn, who told u dey spent that.
Like every other Nigerian citizen, you have a right under the Freedom of information Act to obtain public records. Write a letter to the appropriate authority and ask for a copy of their spendings. You'll really help in throwing more light on this issue.
PoliticsRe: Independence Anniversary Expenditure For The Past 5 Years. - Nasir El-rufai by HaroldFinch(m): 5:47am On Oct 02, 2015
These figures may be true or otherwise. I don't think that's what we should be celebrating or making criticisms about. I think this present government is giving us more figures to work with. Transparency is my own take from it. The next budget for the next independence day celebration will be criticized using this 70 million figure next year. If it skyrockets to billions again, we'll have our say.

Truth be told..

Can we trust these guys

If 22 billion was spent, and the money money was shared in 2014.

What if 70M is spent and 21.93 billion is shared backdoor..?
Interesting... Can we trust the defunct pdp govt? What if 1 trillion was spent backdoors and those billions were reported...huh
The government has a budget, it's passed by the National Assembly (the people you voted in to represent you) if you're that interested, obtain the gazettes, the government expenditure, calculate and once you discover an anomaly, either call organizations like SERAP or inform EFCC. Lol cheesy or better still, ask your Senator or Reps to invoke their investigative powers... Lame? Well, your comments got me laughing.

my dear no b small deceiving, 13bn we accept, wit lots of delegate from around d world, al state displaced there cultural heritage, imagine 70million just militry match pass alone no lite to even watch d militry matching.

70million go just like dat with 60 APC members, 3foreign militry envoy, and 3 elder state men, dogara no were to b found. 70million go just like dat. Buhari were is our 70million
With this comment, I don't think we can be purposeful with arguments on Nairaland. And you could type thishuh Well, Let's assume a father has 3 children, sends them to school and gives them all they ask for without proper checking and they spend millions instead of a few thousands or hundreds of thousands. Then he got wise anf started making enquiries and lo and behold, he found out the worth to be in thousands... Dig me? Your comments at best demonstrates that we now have accountability in our polity. Were these figures in public domain last year or the year before? Now we have a tool to check future spendings. Wake up and smell the coffee bro!

Nice write up. I really commend your efforts OP. I however have another view to the discussion. I think our problems are also connected to the adoption of the white man lifestyle. Focus is more on the individual, rather than communal. We've fashioned a form of complexity to the way we live that makes it hard for us to believe that the only thing that works is one man one woman. Two, three or more working class women could find fulfilment in marriage with a man if it is properly maintained and which could solve the problem you raised. Errrm.. Human Rights Advocates would want to crucify me for my comment but, hey, has monogamy really worked for the white man?

Poems For ReviewUncertainties by HaroldFinch(op): 9:27am On Sep 15, 2015
To the not so clearly confused
Who sync and sink in it
Deep in the treachery of uncertainties
Lost in the wilderness and maze of the labyrinth
In fear they found succor, a bit of hope and conviction
And in certainty they found lust, loss and even more loss
Taking on the uncharted sea
Or taking the road they thought Frost followed
Before the end of now and a beginning of the next
Both seemingly the same, but clearly dissimilar
For time itself, as shifting, hardly changes
But only made to deceive
Raising our sense of helplessness
Deceiving our sense of awareness
To give the hardworking folk a sense of hope
Impoverish the lazy and get them perplexed
If the truth be true about time
Why is the lazy man's tomorrow certain
And the other's own full of doubts?
Same stands for the sick and sane
Angels or demons, all the same
In the end, Like Robert, I took a stand, and
Like Frost, No one necessarily needs to know

PoliticsRe: Nigerians Will Soon See The ‘change’ I Promised– Buhari by HaroldFinch(m): 11:49pm On Sep 02, 2015
lordtosan:
We are already seeing the change you promised sir.

You are the first president to delay nominating your ministers for this long and leaving the various ministries dangling on the throes of directionlessness. That's the change

you are the first president whose core appointments have greatly run fowl to the spirit of federal character enshrined under chapter 2 of our constitution, favouring only your region and have put a razor in the unity of Nigeria. That's the change.

You are the first president who keep blaming his predecessor and touring round the world like a rock-star every passing day without focusing on the task of governance for which you were elected. That's the change!

You are the first president to have denied all the promises you made during your campaign after some i.diots voted you in. Thats the change.

You are the first who rules with BODY LANGUAGE as if you are tossing a girl without a clear blue-print of how to run the country. That's the change

mr president sir, you are indeed a change. I thought Jonathan was the most clueless president we have ever had until you buhari came into power. Jonathan cluelessness pale against yours with all due respect. I thought you were just an illiterate who didn't see the four walls of a university, i was wrong. it seems you later went to school and had a PHD in cluelessness.
We have lots of problems in this country... And you're definitely on a voyage to make it worse with comments like this. Be objective with your criticisms. While I agree with you on some of the issues, I think the rest are just deliberate to make him culpable.. What do you stand to gain?

Bishop idowu is base in Kaduna he is always on tv because of dis type of religious diplomacy.

churches are spendin million of naira in north to protect worshippers in church, because many muslim hate to see churches, b4 BH are northerns youth not destroyin church...

many muslim leaders in de north wish BK success so dat we can av islam state....
And what is your gain in raising conspiracies without proof? Keep fuelling hatred, hate speech and preach violence. History will remember you.

Jaydee009:
ISIS, Boko Haram, al-shabab, al-Qaeda etc are the true face of Islam!

Those of you Muslims ranting on this forum are all fake, because you war manual, "the Quran" commands you to "kill the infidels" and that "none is permitted to be worshiped but Allah".

You should be on the fields killing and maiming like your true brothers... And not going to schools and trying very hard to become like the very infidels you hate so much! angry that is worse than hypocrisy!

And for those mor.ons who will come here to say Islam is Peace, and Boko Haram are not Muslims, let me remind you that today in Nigeria, it is absolutely impossible to build a church in Kano state, except in the very outskirts (Nomansland). All the churches that were built decades back in Kano have been burnt down to ashes... Long long before Boko Haram came.!

Who is deceiving who? Yeye dey smell... Why should one dialogue with people whose religious obligation is to kill and destroy you? Why?
Tolerance! Please preach tolerance!
There are churches in Kano, very mighty ones indeed. And as much as I wouldn't want to repeat your arguments, the verse you quoted has its specific application.... A Christian friend thought me the other day that you don't read Bible verses in isolation.... Please apply the same rule to the quran too. And open your heart to its teachings, in full, not to prech islam to you, but at least to understand how to relate with Muslims. Your words are pregnant with rage, but trust me, Muslims in Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan have more gory stories to tell against the Christian world and the Western world in general. They see them as terrorists too..... Please.... Tolerance!

CRUSADES!!! Wow...... Pls give me just one example and i sure will read on it. I still maintain my stance. All muslim sectors in d world are violent-minded. I'm also in d system and i knw wat i'm saying. Do u have an example of a mosque gunned down by xtians? Or killing of some muslims by xtians. I also am a religious fanatic and i'm well in d system. Don't tell me one wack history
I must confess, you're right, if the available literature supporting the justification of the crusades and inquisitions are to go by. It sometimes baffles me when some Christians, out of their sheer myopic view, are drowned into fairy tales. I would like you to read from the opposite divide. In case you have the flair, i commend this link to you. https://www.radioislam.org/sindi/croisades.htm

However, you should find this book written by a Christian www.amazon.com/Book-Democracy-James-David-Barber/dp/0133400689/ref=la_B001H6UHIQ_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1439647568&sr=1-4

Lastly, I am simply preaching tolerance, I saw a page on wiki detailing attroticites committed in the name of Christianity. Interestingly enough, the Klu Klux Klan based their reasonings on Christianity too. Would you call them Christians? Once again, let's be tolerant of our views. As violent as you think Islam is, you'll change your mind if you read about some verses of the Quran apart from those ones you've been erroneously accustomed to.
