Fast rising musician, Simi has opened up on why she left gospel music and the price of fame.Excerpts from her interview

You began your career as a gospel act. Why did you go mainstream?
The first thing that comes to the mind is that I did it for monetary reasons. However music became about ‘more’; I wanted to have a broader purview. It was a tough decision for me to make at first. I wanted to explore music more. My faith in God hasn’t waivered because before I went mainstream, I prayed to God to bless my career if it was his plan for me. I also don’t see myself doing gospel music again.

What has fame cost you?
I don’t go out much but I love to go to regular places. I can’t do so any longer and I miss having a regular life because I am a regular girl.

Kanye West loses $10million in sales due to pirated copies of his album after it was released on Tidal..

The Twitter rant'er took a huge financial hit due to the poor roll out of his new album The Life of Pablo. His latest work has been pirated and downloaded so many times since its release that the rapper has lost $10million in sales. This all comes at a time when West has claimed he is $53million in debt.
The New York Post reports that if the 500,000 people who illegally downloaded the album in its frist day had paid the $20 it cost to buy the album West would have personally made $10million.
Kanye revealed on Monday that his album will never go on sale and will only ever be available on Tidal, the digital music service which is subscription based and owned by his friend Jay Z and other music artists.

A 41-year-old food seller, Mrs. Lizzy Offiong, has died while struggling for a share of the N1m the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, gave to Mbiaobong market women.

It was learnt that the woman, who sold food around the streets of Uyo in the morning, was returning from a church programme on Saturday when she decided to stop at the market to buy food items.

Her husband, Mr. Gabriel Dick, from Aka Ekpeme, in Ikono Local Government Area, told Southern City News in Uyo on Tuesday that his wife only went to the market to buy food items, but did not know how she became involved with the governor’s money.

According to him, when the governor arrived at the market, he told the women that he was going to give them N1m to share among themselves.

He added that immediately the governor handed the money over to the market leader, Mrs. Edemawang Udo, and left, the market was thrown into chaos.

This is not a pretty sight atall... So a prisoner found himself in deep trouble - quite literally - after attempting a Shawshank Redemption style escape from a jail via the communal toilet. In the footage, the man is seen attempting to slither head first through the hole in the ground, his body completely covered in excrement.

As the man attempts to wriggle through the clogged sewerage pipes, two men grab hold of his legs and pull him back out of the hole. Another shot shows the man covered from head to toe in poo after being returned to his prison cell.
It is thought the man was attempting to escape from a prison in Brazil but the exact location is not clear.

Chukwuebuka Okeke, a 28-year-old trader, has allegedly killed his friend and roommate, Nwabuike Ezeike, 39, after a disagreement over a N5, 000 electricity bill. The incident happened on Tuesday on Tokosi Street, Orile-Iganmu.
According to Punch, the friends, who were traders on the Lagos Island, had been together for a long time.They were also said to have contributed money for the rent of the single-room apartment.

The men, who hail from Anambra State, however, had a disagreement over their electricity bill.A relative of the deceased, Ben Eze, said the deceased had paid the suspect some money as his contribution towards the bill.

Donald Trump has come under fire for retweeting made-up statistics about murders committed by black people.

The Republican presidential candidate was branded 'racist' by critics on Twitter after he re-posted the fake crime figures, which wrongly state that most murders of both black and white people are committed by black killers.

It said 81 per cent of white murder victims were killed by black offenders..Tweet also said 16 per cent of white people murdered are killed by whites

Dozens of people quickly pointed out that not only are the numbers wildly wrong, but the 'source', the Crime Statistics Bureau - San Francisco, does not exist.
