Actually you are correct I am nationalized in both countries,  Lets be real, if any of the people here who leave negative comments was to travel to a place where they might be tagged as visitors; would it not make sense to ask natives from that place what things to watch out for or what things to do or not to do??

Trust me I am not a allan poser nor a novice, if I was come back to naija for holidays how do you expect me to automatically fit in when I dont even know much about the environment?
Being from Nigeria and going back to Nigeria [where you are originally from] is quite different from asking info about a place where u just want to visit and have no ties with. If they didnt let you settle in yankee in the first place wont you survive in naija? Abeg lets here word jare angry

some people are so ridiculous!!
i have to agree with paroy_frey on this one (even though i cant stand her)
why are nigerians so quick to start talking crap about their own? ehh?
you havent even seen the movie yet, and youre already badmouthing.
if it was an american movie now everyone would be highly "anticipating" the arrival of this new movie.
as soon as they see nollywood its "blah blah blah blah blah blah"
like i said times without number, nollywood is trying especially coming from a country like Nigeria.
had nollywood been from a country like the US, there would be no excuse, but they are trying.
so thats why i try and support our own film industry so it can get better, who knows where it might land in the next 10-15 years. Rome wasnt built in a day.
so lets at least try and support (or not badmouth) if youre not really a fan of nollywood.
most of the producers are using their own money to do these projects.
saw a nollywood movie in the making (some documentary) and its not as suave as it may seem.

but anyway

CANT WAIT!!! IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS MOVIE EVERYWHERE.
i didnt know that isnt wasnt out yet, i really cant wait.
Majid has been in a lot of my recently good/favorite movies in nollywood. love his acting (Guilty Pleasures, Emerald, Shakira, just to name a few).
genny girl, hahaha!! you already know. she looks pretty in that first pic cool
i will be on the prowl for this movie.

@ THE AMAKA, mind your own business and stop troubling people. are you people slim yourselves. There are so many slim people in Africa who are far far uglier than fat people. If you are born Ugly , You will remain ugly no matter what, and if God Gives you beauty, no matter what your stature, you will remain beautiful. No matter what you do or say, there are people who will find Jackie prettier than other actresses whether she is fatter, shorter ,slimmer or taller and there are others who will do the opposite. Your opinions will not change their looks or how people see them. To me Jackie remains the prettiest mo matter what unless there appears another actress who looks prettier. Amaka, go and get a life for yourself and stop troubling me. Ah Ah, am i the cause for your frustrations. If you know Jackie is not the prettiest to you, why then are you so nervous? I mean why are u feeling so uneasy. As if you people are prettier or better than her. It is only you and Michelin who doesn't see her beautiful without her smile. The only truth is that ,with or without her smile, she looks super gorgeous, extremely stunning. You two really need Goggles to see that simple truth. And her facial expressions are always mesmerizing unlike Ini who only rolls her eyes and licks h
er lips all the time and Genny who only stares in the cameras like a kid lost in the candy shop. Oh God you really Created Jackie well. Just look at her yummy lips, gorgeous eyes and wonderful lips and dimples. Just a look at her gorgeous face would be enough cure for all impotent men.
That FAT AMAKA girl is a lunatic! she probably somewhere eating herself to death. People need to stop responding to her threads or posts. Na me them send come tame am.

THE-AMAKA:
this is not another "Bashing nollywood" thread but its about their movie covers.
it seems people never appreciate the efforts being made in their own backyard but anything by a foreigner is glorified.
undecided
at least learn to support and know they are trying with the little resources that they have and most of it which comes out of the producer's pockets.
a corrupt country like nigeria with a pretty bad economy still has nollywood as its 3rd largest industry.
im happy and PROUD of them!!
if Nigeria had been a country like the US they would have no excuse to make "crappy movies" but remember Nigeria is nowhere near the US in anything, so for them to be able to churn out Nollywood and make it the 3rd largest is wonderful.
so lets stop the bashing and at least respect, especially from the country these movies are coming from.
This coming from someone that just advised Nollywood to take a leaf outta Hollywood? Why should Nollywood copy Hollywood, and who told you Nigeria is nowhere near the US in anything? You're such an idiot for that statement. Nigeria does NOT need to be like the US, and we will do stuff the way we like you obese punk!

and what does height have to do with anything? ehh? maybe its that she is on the bigger side that makes her look that short, but i dont believe she is as short as youre tryna make it seem.
to me, Ini Edo is beautiful and CAN be compared to jackie in acting and in looks. you will be surprised that some people might favor ini more than jackie. i can just see it that way.
anyway, you can compliment someone but not going as far as to insult the other people, hitting FAR below the belt.

BusinessRe: Do You Know That There Is Big And Consistent Money In Haulage Business? by hauler: 10:30pm On Oct 07, 2009
Fhemmy,
I think the original poster should step in now and enlighten you on these issues that i have raised, im not the one selling the business to you. Even if you have access to parts in Canada or the USA are u going to leave your truck idle in Lagos until the parts get there? You need something that can be accessible to you in not more than an hour or less so that the truck can keep working. You don't want a situation where your truck is parked for weeks pending repairs/parts cos you insisted on buying a Volvo. As far as income is concerned all i can say is the truck will rarely work 5 days a week every week, and even if hes only doing transfers there is still a lot of other expenses that he is conveniently leaving out.
BusinessRe: Do You Know That There Is Big And Consistent Money In Haulage Business? by hauler: 7:15pm On Oct 07, 2009
@Fhemmy,
Thanks for your input, my initial advise would be to get a Mack Truck {R-Model}, if  you are in europe and you don't have access to that then the second choice would be a DAF 95. These two brands of vehicles have an abundance of spare parts and technical expertise at their disposal in Nigeria. Before you purchase any vehicle make sure you get some insight into the business from somebody who is NOT interested in managing the vehicle for you.  There are a lot of hidden expenses that you will still incur  when the vehicle gets to naija that you should be aware of, i still don't see how the OP could fail to mention that the flatbody is a very important part of the purchase and it wont cost you less that 2million to get a good one in Lagos. You can have the best truck in the world, but if your flatbody is not good it makes the truck useless. If anyone has any specific questions i will be glad to answer them and share my experience in the biz.
By the way, Volvo parts are expensive in naija and those trucks you have in your pictures are all sleepers and will be overkill for the kind of job the OP is proposing. If the truck is not going to travel up country there is not need for the sleeper cabin, it will just make your shipping cost more expensive. Try and get a day cab .
BusinessRe: Do You Know That There Is Big And Consistent Money In Haulage Business? by hauler: 4:48pm On Oct 07, 2009
@ OP,
My trucks are not idle, if you read my post correctly all im saying to you is that there is No way that the truck can make those trips you are projecting on a daily basis, its just not possible. I dont care if its transfer or delivery. You make it sound like its only your trucks that are on the roads. Thousands of trucks line up there on a daily basis, so how you fly over them and make 3 trips a day still baffles me.
My truck loaded at 5PM [for a delivery] yesterday after staying in line since 11am in the morning, and it didnt leave the port until 7pm! So any Nairalander that is in diaspora please involve your family to look into what this guy is saying, its a scam to lure you into the biz, then story go start. If you go into this biz based on what this guy is saying you will be very disappointed. There is money in it but not the kind this guy is dangling infront of everyone's eyes. You still need to do a lot of modifications to the truck in naija [if you want it to last long on naija roads] if you are bringing it from abroad, and i don't see him addressing any of this. The poster is playing on your greed and a lot of people seem to be falling for it. A word is enough for the wise, i have nothing to gain by responding to this post, all i am asking is that people should confirm this story from a neutral party before shelling out your hard earned money on a truck!
BusinessRe: Business Opportunity - Truck Dealing by hauler: 8:01pm On Oct 06, 2009
, add another 100k to that amount for the conversion to be on the safe side. Typically the conversion is 180k.
BusinessRe: Do You Know That There Is Big And Consistent Money In Haulage Business? by hauler: 7:10pm On Oct 06, 2009
I don't think you know what you're talking about, for your information i have two trucks at the moment and i was lured into the biz by someone like you with a sweet tongue. You are throwing aroung words like ICD and delivery, what has that got to do with the investment. If a flatbed cost over 2million naira, don't you think it's something you need to mention to a potential investor that has no idea about the business? Also the flatbed needs hooks that will cost over 120 thousand naira, and you reply is "wont you need a flatbed?". What kind of response is that when you are dealing with people who have never done the biz before?
To anyone who is actually taking this guy serious i advise you to send your own people to weigh the pros and cons of starting this biz before jumping into it. It's not rocket science, if over 100 trucks or more are queuing for load daily, do you think the will be able to make 2 trips per day like this guys is proposing? Not to talk of the time it takes to off load the container a the destination, and they have to line up for that too, then return the container.
Mr poster be truthful about what you are saying, you are basically trying to lure people into giving you their truck for you to manage, and you forget that this is people's hard earned money. There is no way you can deliver that amount you have come up with cos the trucks will never load that often to be able to make that money.
There is no need to get mad because i exposed you, just try and be mature about it. I am in the business already and i visit the ports on a daily basis to keep an eye on my investment, and its still very hard, not to talk of those that are not there to monitor their investment.
Please Nairalanders, send your own people to the port and see what they come up with- don't rely on the info that this guy is providing.
BusinessRe: Do You Know That There Is Big And Consistent Money In Haulage Business? by hauler: 2:32pm On Oct 06, 2009
This Tobi Guy is lying, i actually went to lagos to do a feasibility study myself and  there are a lot of hidden costs that he chooses not to mention. You will obviously find this out for yourself when its too late to go back! He doesn't mention that you will also need to buy a flatbody for the truck, which will not cost you less that 2million naira for a decent one. You CANNOT rent a flatbody cos it will be in a very bad condition, and you will spend nearly as much as buying a new one to fix something you don't own.
If the flatbody/flatbed doesn't have container hooks installed, then you will need to install the hooks  and this will not cost you any less that 120 thousand naira. The papers for the truck will cost another 50 thousand naira, and then you have to question OP numbers cos you will NOT get work every single day of the week!
I think it is safe to say that you will only get work an average of 3 times a week. If you doubt this go to the port yourself and see how many truck are out there  queuing for work. When the truck loads a container, it sometimes takes a day to offload the container at the destination and the cant load a another until they return the one they delivered.
If the Original poster wants to contest want i am saying then let him respond to this, but guys please take what i am saying into consideration, all that glitters is not gold, a word is enough for the wise!

By the way any truck with a balloon suspension [air ride] is a no no for Nigeria, dont let the poster convince you otherwise. If the balloon suspension has a fault, thats the beginning of the end for the truck.
Business To BusinessContainer Or Foodstuff Delivery In Lagos Or The Western Region by hauler(op): 7:49pm On Oct 05, 2009
HI guys i Have a solid Mack truck and Flat bed that can deliver 20 or 40 foot containers or bags of foodstuffs like rice, flour and maybe iron rods. I need constant work for the truck so if there's anyone that can source loads for the truck for a percentage please leave me your contact details. A percentage will be paid per load that the truck delivers. Thanks you!!
