Politics › Re: Farewell, Governor Ambode: A Pictorial Documentary Of Some Of His Achievements by hausadreturn(m): 7:22pm On May 28, 2019 |
murmee: It baffles me a great deal when people forget to mention the Aboru Bridge when they list the infrastructural achievements of Governor Ambode. Those who knew the area before the construction of the bridge will forever appreciate the good works of the Governor. I used to tell people that if I am offered a piece of land, free of charge in Aboru, I will not hesitate to reject it.
Aboru was a laid back, undeveloped and forgotten area that lacks every basic amenities. It was also inaccessible. Before the bridge was built, the only vehicle that could manage to navigate the area were the Okadas and that comes with a lot of discomfort to the driver and the passenger. Families and friends of those who live there don't visit them. It was that bad.
You will wonder how I know so much about the place. My sister in law lives there. She and her husband were among the first settlers. They own houses there.
Immediately the bridge and some adjoining roads were built and commissioned, Aboru was transformed. The place became motorable and values of properties in the area skyrocketed. A primary health centre/clinic was also built for the community. The people started living like human beings. The people of Aboru will forever remember Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. Though I've never heard of Aboru, and don't even know the area in Lagos it is, your post make sense. |

fergie001: Don't mind the Nsukka people jare....
But the writer is as confused as the Nsukka people...
Zik was never stupid citing it there, not at all....
Thank you for the reference of Umudike where the fmr VC from Nsukka contested against 2 erudite Umudike-born Professors and won. Nobody killed anybody.
The present one is from Afikpo...how many people died?
Not until recently, we had the first Ife man to be VC of OAU...
VCs that have been in charge of UI,how many have been from Oyo state or even IBADAN?
The Nsukka people should take back seat biko.... The only Ife man to be VC of OAU was only a VC as interim. He won't be recognised as such. His tenure was so brief. He'd end up stepping down for the incumbent - Ogunbodede, from Ondo. |

holuwasheyiWGP: When I was 7 years I wanted to become a footballer,I was in love with football and I was good at it, it's the only thing I wanted to become better at.I wanted to go pro,I was so sure though I was 7.When I was about to graduate primary school,I begged my dad to take me to wasimi football academy but he never listened,he belonged to the class of folks who still believe education is the best legacy. So I went to one secondary school,I still continued playing. Then when teachers asked the regular what do you want to become question, I cycled from petroleum engineering to pharmacy to psychology to computer science, then I realized one decision messed me up.I entered the university on my first trial thanks to God.Right now I'm about to enter 400L microbiology UI.. Microbiology wasn't on my list....What I'm trying to say is life's one fvcked up place, chase your dreams but sometimes you have to let go.....I've not let go of mine though Gosh! This was so me to be honest. It was football or nothing else. It meant that it took me about 5 years after high school to get into Uni. I'm out now and I think I'm past it. My mind now is to become a coach/football manager. The idea is to start from the NIS...where people are coached. That's more like the only thing I think of. |
