Let's start with the basics Camp location The orientation camp is located in Ummuna Bende, Bende local government area of the state. It's just about 45minutes to Umuahia, the state Capital. Getting to Camp 1. On getting to Umuahia, most buses stop at the new Park with exception of Peace mass transit and Abia line, Both stop at their private parks which is close to Gate. From any of the parks, take a kèké napep to Gate, where you will see buses going to the camp. Specifically mention to them you are going to the nysc camp cos the local government is the biggest guest in the state and there are buses going to different parts of the LG. Alternatively, you are sure to meet NCCF, MCAN and different other corper religious bodies at the park that may be ready to convey you to the camp or their lodges to pass the night if you arrive late. Camp facilities The orientation camp is nice, with good hostels, water isn't a problem. Hostels are equipped with WC whose cleanliness is up to the hostel occupants, Electricity wasn't a problem back then, so you can always get your phones charged in the Mosque, Church or Mami market (for a token). Surroundings were effectively fumigated against Mosquitoes. The state Coordinator is now a woman, so I can't say the camp experience would be same as ours. Ours was fun NB. As it's currently raining in the state, you will do yourself a favour of coming along with your white sweater (the only color u are allowed to wear). |
Hii, Congratulations on being posted to Abia, God's own state. I am currently serving in Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia state. And I am here to help in any way I can with enquiries anyone may have as regards coming to camp, serving in the state etc. You are welcome to Abia. The state where God lives and visit other states |
Thats the popular trend Talk talk and more talk,. Contribute money, Do welcoming and sendforth, Sensitization sometimes offer a different aura, but its still not whats supppsed to be I dont want to believe we should just continue that way |
Corpers wee It is no undisputable fact that Corpers generally dislike CDS meeting days. Truthfully, there's hardly any thing to like about it. However, I believe it can change. How can CDS meeting be made interesting? A change from the usual talk talk and money contribution it is how is it done in ur Cds? How do you think or feel it should be done? Reactions please!!! |

Muslims ain't terrorists Muslims ain't pedophiles Muslims don't enslave women Muslims ain't regressive Muslims ain't troublesome ... And the list goes on endlessly Due to the prevalence of unwanted and dastard occurrences involving Muslims and/or Muslim lands, we hear each of the above-listed phrases, every other day. It's a cycle; the incident occurs, the media is filled with those phrases and after a while, we move on until the next occurrence. We don't have to keep echoing Muslims ain't terrorists et al, the world is tired of hearing that. In fact, it is foolhardy repeating same thing over and over and expecting a change. When a thing is repeated too often, it looses it's meaning - in fact "Muslims are not terrorists" no longer catches attention, it's become one of those things. With the cycle on an "auto-repeat" and the next only a matter of moments away, here's a wake up call. Let's change the narrative to who we really are Allah says “You are the best nation produced for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah...” (Al-Imran: 110). We are the best, are we living like the best should? We forbid evil and do good, isn't this the exact opposite of what we do? As an individual Muslim, how have you been portraying Islam? In your family; in your neighborhood; in your classroom; in your workplace and organisation; amidst your peers? Are you rightly "repping" Islam? Haven't we all heard of the distinctive characteristics of the early Muslims? They were reported in history books to be truthful, highly disciplined, and tolerant. Are we in anyway similar in this context? Your character is the easiest way you can call to the way of Allah even without you making additional efforts. We are the truthful ones and should remain truthful and just at all times, even if against our relatives. Allah says in Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 42: "And mix not truth with falsehood, nor conceal the truth while you know (it)" Also, Didn't Allah talk about the consequences of speaking a lie and giving false testimonies in the verses of Surah Noor (Chapter 24)? I'm tired of hearing Muslims ain't this and that, let's show them who we really are. We have to pay the price, and right now it's definitely above what we are not; it's about showing who we are, it's about living like ideal Muslims and it begins with you and me. It's high time we changed the narrative from WHO WE ARE NOT, to WE ARE. AbdulAfeez Irekeola |

Meet 30 year old Ricardo, a Brazilian who is on an African-countries tour from Brazil. Guess what is amazing about his journey, he is touring on a bicycle. Yes, he intends to Cycle across Africa. From his native Brazil, He flew to Spain where the bicycle journey started. Nine months after, he is in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State having cycled through North Africa from Spain. He has so far visited 13 African countries and says he has about 12 left before he returns to Spain and back to Brazil, his country of origin. On his bike is a sticker of the flag of every African country he has cycled to. Ricardo claims he isn't expecting any "reward" for the daring adventure as he sold his car, quit his job to fund the journey. As seen from the pictures, he is here to board a bus to Calabar (07-12-2015), from where He will continue to cycle to Cameroon in continuation of his journey. Though travelling light, Ricardo is fully stocked with the basic things he needs. A map of African countries, few Cloth items, his full bicycle repair kit, two extra tyres, a pump, his Brazilian passport, a camping tent (in which he sleeps at night) constitute the bulk of his luggage. When pressed on if he's keeping in touch with his family, he said he calls his parents, though not in any way frequent and that his only sister was not even aware when he embarked on the journey. Nigerians beg for money too much was the response he gave when asked about his experience so far with Nigerians in Nigeria. Coincidentally not long after, a Nigerian came around to beg him for money just minutes after. However, as characteristic of Nigerians as well, he was offered a book as gift which he politely declined because he intends to travel as light as he could. In his words, if he collected all the gifts he has since being offered in his journey, it would become a burden. Ricardo is single

If you are thinking of enrolling for your masters outside the country, then you can go ahead. But if it's within the country the NYSC discharge certificate is now a major requirement to being admitted for Masters study in Nigerian institutions. Some institutions still admit without it though, but the directive is they shouldn't without the discharge certificate. |
ifeanyija:Hello, please I need a sample copy as well Afeezirekeola@gmail.com Thanks in advance |
