PoliticsFighting Terrorism, Oil Theft Not Easy – Buhari by Heazy2015(op): 6:23am On Sep 11, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that it is not easy for his administration to fight terrorism, oil theft and corruption at the same time. But he said in spite of the difficulties being faced in fighting these scourge, his administration would not relent in eliminating the vices from the nation’s body polity. Buhari said this when the President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbe, visited him in Abuja on Thursday. The President, who expressed appreciation for Gnassingbe’s visit and for his concern about regional security, said his regime was being challenged with the Boko Haram insurgency, oil theft, illegal fishing, oil pollution and illegal dumping of toxins in the country. Buhari said it was not easy for his administration, which he said, was fighting on many fronts. According to him, the government is contending with insurgency in the North-East and oil theft in the South-South while trying to provide infrastructure in the country at the same time. He said, “His (Gnassingbe’s) concern about regional security made it imperative for him to organise a summit on maritime security and development in November to examine a lot of issues. “As for Nigeria, we are grateful for the sympathy and the goodwill expressed, touching on the performance of our armed forces and law enforcement agencies, since this administration came into being. It is not easy trying to fight on so many fronts, the North-East, the South-South and then try to provide infrastructure in our country.” The President observed that the cooperation of the regional countries comprising Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin Republic had resulted in the isolation of Boko Haram and peace in the region. He also advised African countries to pay attention to agriculture and manufacturing to provide jobs for the jobless. Earlier, the Togolese President had invited Buhari to a security and piracy summit scheduled for Lome in November. Gnassingbe said his country was organising the summit because $7bn had been lost to piracy in the Gulf of Guinea. The Togolese leader told Buhari that the security summit would deal with issues of piracy, oil theft, environmental pollution, immigration as well as human and drug trafficking. He therefore called on African nations to collaborate to combat the scourge and security challenges in the sub-region. Gnassingbe commended Buhari and the Nigerian security forces for the work they were doing to combat terrorism in West Africa. When asked by journalists if African countries were not hosting too many summits, Gnassingbe disagreed, saying the summits were not enough. He said, “Piracy alone costs the Gulf of Guinea $7bn a year, that is what we lose for not combating it and we also know that without cooperation you cannot combat piracy, but the first stage is to come together and talk. “If all the African countries are on the same page, it would be easy to tackle the security challenges, so we have to keep holding summits, because individual countries cannot combat piracy effectively without cooperation. “If you try to fight them in Togo, they go to the next country, then you don’t have the mechanism to go into the other countries. So, summits are necessary, they are not even sufficient.”

FashionWhy Do People Bleach/tone Their Skin?share Their Opinion by Heazy2015(op): 11:09pm On Sep 10, 2015
Bleaching and toning of skin to the quest for beauty and a sign of inferiority complex.
They blamed the action on indiscipline, and said it is only an
undisciplined mind that will seek to change what is natural.
“The human skin is delicate and requires a level of care and
maintenance to function well and heal quickly in case of any injury.
“In a situation where the skin has been badly weakened or damaged
by bleaching cream, it becomes difficult for it to recover quickly
from any injury,’’I dont know maybe they derives some emotional pleasure from the look of their skin. There is a difference between toning and bleaching.
“Bleaching is dangerous to the skin, while toning brings out the
beauty of the skin."
“Some go to the extent of instructing of telling u to mix creams for them because they feel it works better and faster.
“Everyone is wonderfully and beautifully made by God. So, we do
not require anything extra to be beautiful.’’
***What’s your take on the topic? Why do you think
people bleach/tone their skin? Let’s talk about it!

PhonesThe B29 Story: My Experience At Ikeja Computer Village Today by Heazy2015(op): 9:30pm On Sep 09, 2015
I had been usiing my Blackberry Bold 5. I think. One
of those camera phones and it was clear that The Lord
wanted me to upgrade. A new year beckoned and I wanted to
enter it with one of those phones that used stylus and were
y’know big. So, ladies and gentlemen, I proceeded to proceed to
Computer Village to make my dream a reality. I had with me
my old phone and about N10, 000. The plan of course was to
do a swap, add some cash and get the precious Q10. Gosh, I
was so excited.

That’s how I got there with my own two legs and saw those
guys that sell phones on the street. Asked one if he had the
phone o, he said yes. Can’t remember his name sha, but he sha
showed me the Q10. I played with it, even made a demo call
and all to be sure it worked. Baba took me off the street saying,
“We can’t do business here o, before these agberos will ask you
to settle them”. So, he took me to a shed. All this while, he
wrapped the Q10 in a white handkerchief saying he didn’t
want it to scratch and that’s how he keeps his phones. Me that I
wasn’t even paying attention. I was just excited ‘cos my level
was about to change. Nigga just give me phone, abeg.

So, we’re chilling in this shed, negotiating. He says I’m going
to have to give up my phone and cash. I’m like, “How much?”
He says like N15, 000. I’m like, “Just look at this scam. I’ll
give you N10, 000 last.” He mutters some shot and agrees. He
takes my phone to check it. He then tells me he’s going to stop
a bike for me so that no agberos will disturb me immediately
we’re done. I’m like Okak. He takes the N10, 000, counts it
and then gets a bike for me. He tells me not to stop o because
these agberos. So he hands me the handkerchief.

Men and brethren, I got on this bike so excited and told the
bike man, “Go go go, don’t stop!!!”

The bike man took me to Allen avenue before I came down. I
held on to this handkerchief like my life depended on it. Fam, I
was a big boy now. They were going to respect me now. I had
officially arrived. Do they know those of us that have Q10?
Shiiii.

So I said, let me check my phone jare. I unwrapped the hanky.
Children of God, I unwrapped the hanky – and looking at me
in all it’s glory was a bright white bar of B29 soap. I looked at
the soap, the soap looked at me…I looked at the soap. I poked
the soap. Maybe this was a case for the phone. I turned the
soap over. No buttons, No screen. I was weak, guys. I was
weak. I stood there for some minutes staring at this soap.
Look. I took the quickest bike back to Computer Village. Of
course, it was instinct. I didn’t see the seller. I still had the
bloody soap. One idiot there now asked me, “Broda, why you
dey para? Dem no give you the cream wey dey follow the
soap?”

Ladies and gentlemen, I had sold my phone and paid extra
N10, 000 for B29 soap (with no accompanying cream). That’s
most likely the most expensive B29 soap in the history of
Nigeria.

I Have to borrow my aunts phone for the main time

PoliticsMTN Outlets Now Open Till 8pm Daily For SIM Registration/revalidation by Heazy2015(op): 5:45am On Sep 09, 2015
As part of efforts to bring relief to its esteemed customers, MTN
Nigeria has announced an extension in the closing hours of its SIM
registration and revalidation outlets till 8pm, with an increased
number of staff to cater to subscribers who want to register or
revalidate their SIM cards.
Announcing the extension, Mr. Akinwale Goodluck, MTN Corporate
Services Executive, said “we have increased the number of staff
across our customer service outlets to cater for the SIM registration
and revalidation of our esteemed subscribers across all our channels.
We have also mandated all our registration outlets to remain open till
8pm every day during this period.
This is to ensure that all MTN Nigeria subscribers whose lines were
disconnected or experiencing difficulty in using their SIMs can easily
register and revalidate their lines”.
Affected customers can revalidate their registration details at all
MTN service outlets, agents, dealer shops and sales outlets. The
registration is free and customers are urged to report suspicions of
any fraudulent activity to the nearest MTN manager at their
respective locations.
The telecoms operator also appealed to its subscribers to remain
calm as the company is committed to ensuring that all affected
subscribers complete the process as directed by NCC

CultureAfrican Identity: Nigerians And Their Foreign Names by Heazy2015(op): 5:40am On Sep 07, 2015
The point of this post is not to convince anyone to feel bad about their foreign name, but to demonstrate how odd and sometimes funny we African look to outsiders when introducing ourselves as Bright Simon.
The first questions that arise from that observation are as follows: are African names so inferior that we need “superior” European names to feel modern or civilized? Is that a mandatory ticket to modernity?
See for yourself To prove that oddness, I’ve conducted a social experiment, asking a handful of Nigerians to react to the following list of names, where I mixed Igbo first names with Hausa and Yoruba surnames, and vice versa. Here is the list of names. Now, go through, and tell us how it makes you feel.
