Please I’m asking for clarification on this to avoid any mistake? Thank you. Hebraeem: Hello good people, please I would like to clarify an information even though I understand it may have been discussed here before.
Please can a tier 2 visa holder open a stock and shares account to buy etfs and earn dividends? Does this violate their visa rule in any way if it’s just for investment purposes but will be earning? Will this be considered a form of trading please? |

Thanks but if you noticed I mentioned family home or buy-to-let and not an empty land. koonbey: Get C of O on your land. That way you're sure of the supremacy (generally speaking) of your ownership against others and even the government if they need take it over (compensation).
There are other types of title you can get but buying land with anything less secure when you're out of the country and there's no physical structure/activity going on on the land is playing with fire. |

Thank you. I am also still making my findings for the nearest future, hopefully this floating exchange rate will yield good result. Please will you say getting a mortgage can help with security of property in Nigeria? My thought was if one can secure a mortgage for a home/buy to let with a bank, the bank will also do their due diligence right? And yes you are right, getting a mortgage in the west here has it advantages but I’m not sure how one can easily climb the real estate ladder. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong please. 😁 jedisco: The unregulated nature of property purchase in Nigeria moreso with lack of access to credit facilities makes it a mine field. Real estate is almost always bought in cash hence creating a drag on property growth. Except in highbrow areas, you can’t guarantee that those who have cash are willing to buy. Reason why most stick with undeveloped land as it's easier to dispose off. Being a landlord is another wahala.
The devaluation of the naira hasn't helped.
Real estate investment in the west provides a more measured, safe and dependable approach. Regulations are strong. There are huge opportunities in Nigeria, but at the very least, a relatively stable naira is needed |

Regarding the accommodation part, can you house them in a shared accommodation or an hotel please? dustydee: What I did was to show an account statement with enough money to cover the flight fare and some miscellaneous expenses and then added my payslip and accomodation contract to show I can accommodate her and take care of her while here. First visit was for almost 5 months. |

I have also thought of this. Please do you know how one can go about this to secure a buy to let or own a home and pay for it installmentally in Nigeria? Tolzeal: One of the best ways to invest your money in Nigeria is to buy real estate or land from a reputable company that offers installment payment options. This way, you can avoid the low returns since most commercial banks loan out these money for enterprises for returns. Real estate market prices are not regulated in Nigeria and can increase significantly in a short period of time, especially if you buy from a company that has a good track record and a valid title, preferably a Certificate of Occupancy (COC). |

I have heard of this as well and it is also a 5yrs route to citizenship (if am correct). Thank you for this also. And please I have a question concerning if I qualify for it, can I message you? Chukwuka16: I'm familiar with the academic route but one alternative will be Tech Nation Visa (exceptional Talent and exceptional Promise). If you have had some tech exposure and tech startup with some certifications here and there (online certifications) and maybe some patents (in application and not necessarily approved) you can give it a try. There is also the peer review path for different professions where you are accessed by your closest regulator - Arts Council, Royal Academy of Engineering etc.
See https://royalsociety.org/grants-schemes-awards/global-talent-visa/ for further guidelines.
I followed the UKRI endorsed funders route since I'm an investigator on an eligible H2020 funded project.
Please note that about 81 Nigerians have gotten the Tech Nation visa as at 2020 (against 270 applicants). There is no cap anymore so that number will definitely increase. See https://technation.io/tech-nation-visa-report-2020/#global-talent-visa
Hope this helps. |

I really don't know how to go about it and would be grateful if I can be enlightened. I was going to get a revolut account to buy crypto but stopped when I was told its not permitted. I also thought of buying on binance but they requested for BRP as ID so I left that. Lexusgs430: I am not a financial adviser and would not be able to advice you.....
But we have legalities, disclosures, non disclosures, underground and finally illegalities........
Your answer is somewhere in the aforementioned........ |

Hi but pls as a student, can you do all these? Whether buyung crypto or shares, as the student visa restricts one from engaging in business activities? Or they aren't part of it? Can yiu pls enlighten me on this? Thanks. Lexusgs430: Some shares issue dividends, but your level of investments, determines figure......
You can short sell if you want to, or warehouse them (long term investments). Then close, when it attains a figure you are happy with.......
If you buy penny stocks, you don't expect a miracle overnight. You warehouse, if you love to pray, pray.... If you love to fast, fast..... If nah night vigil, vigil shares to rise....... |

I second this as well. So far, the African (Ghanaian) I met have been trying to convert me after respectfully declining multiple times. The issue of mingling with Nigerians whether old friends or new acquaintances has been a shocking experience for me. I would rather not get into it. May God see us through. claremont: My opinion on this might be controversial, but it is my experience. I wouldn't go as far as saying avoid Nigerians, but I will argue that there are enormous benefits to be gained from mingling with people who are not from your own background. The last time I was on a course which happened to have 2 Nigerians in it, one of them was trying to convert me to his faith. |

Yes, Ralph the dates are outside the term dates. Thank you. RalphJean: 1. Go to your school website ( probably on your student portal)
2. Check the ‘term dates’ as per your school calendar.
3. If the dates you want to work > 20 h/week are outside of your official school term dates, then you are good to go.
I hope this helps. Any more questions? Ask. |
