Tucano is not a replacement , As for for the exact frame of replacement I can't tell, however all the platforms you listed are decent platforms.
But the yak -130 impresses me thou

The Yak-130 is currently the world's best trainer-light attack-aircraft. However I chose the L-15 which is also a sister aircraft of the Yak-130 and an excellent platform because it is unlikely that we would go for the Yak-130.

The L-15 is the next best thing to the Yak-130. We've been buying Chinese, F-7 and JF-17, so the L-15 or the FTC-2000 seems like the choices we might go for.

Zambian Air Force L-15

sweet bae

......And have served us well for 35 years. However, they are old and are approaching the end of their service lives.

The Air Force should have set in motion a replacement programme for the Alpha jets. The A-29 Super-Tucano cannot replace the Alpha jets as a Lead-in-Fighter-Trainer, we should consider the L-15, Yak-130, M-346 or the FTC-2000. The L-15 been our best suitable option.

i dont have the right to say that even on this thread...

Please post African. Posting photos of non-African militaries destroys the purpose of the thread. It's just the way it is.

Nobody is asking you not to post, but just post African.

The navy Admiral, S. I Alade , might eventually become Nigeria's Chief of Naval Staff.

His career seems to be in an upward trajectory.

This is the problem why we are weak militaraly and trongest in the region so Nigerian navy is the flag navy or carrier of the region so the rest are in support simple.

I get your point bro. I also agree with your comments. They make sense. Although initial comment was a joke though.

so what fate do yu think will befall the A-Jets

There would be a staggered withdrawal of the Alpha jets. A good number of them are approaching the end of thier life cycle.

We would eventually need a fighter-trainer-aircraft to replace the Alpha jet and L-39s.

Actually, when did we acquire C295?

It hasn't been acquired, we've shown concrete interest. The CAS said it was going to be added to the budget.

Look up the archives.

It won't be a stripped down version like we might later get from the US. All West African air forces have this aircraft just bloody mindedness from the Americans. We could even have paid Ghana to buy more and we sign a dual-use agreement.

The contract makes sense to me. Since we are so keen on getting the aircrafts from the US, it seems Brazilian banks don't have the capital to finance a large purchase. However, we should have gone for 6 units at least from Brazil, while we wait for the 12 units ordered from the US.

That would have been a breach of usage contract. I like the Super Tucano, it's a very good aircraft for COIN and LICW. However for conventional warfare, it's borderline useless. I didn't want to see a situation where Nigeria would by the Tucano at the expense of the JF-17 thunder, that was why, in hindsight, I was glad our initial attempts to buy the A-29 was blocked.

I like the fact we have purchased, the JF-17, MI-35m, MI-17 terminator, A-29, Super Mushak, C-295 and additional UAVs in one fell swope. Progressively, we can increase the numbers.

Yes they bought the licence to manufacture from Denel. Posted the news item when the first examples came off the NIMR production line. All the gucci gear in the world means nothing if proper doctrine is not developed and one just hopes for victory Insh'Allah.

They bought the IP?

I'm referring to thier Defence industry. They also got a very good naval shipbuilding industry in the UAE, and Offcourse, there is the Block 60, which they also share IP rights with Lockheed Martin.

It means those colt carbines in the DBS photo you shared, Jake, are Ghanaian not Nigerian. The Tavors were the ones that were Nigerian.

You labour under the miscomprehension that I called Augubugbug out because of his animus towards SA. Couldn't care less about that; his inferiority complex is his own cross to bear. They say dogs bark while the caravan moves on.
That to which I object is fact-free BS. You're welcome to believe whatever you want about Bangui. But just know that when it's warranted, I'll issue an "Augugubug Alert". grin grin grin

By the way, the closure of Abuja Airport has come to pass. Will heads roll for such incompetence and dereliction?

I couldn't care less about Abuja, don't live there, don't give a flying F. Neither do I give a s*** about the politicians or who they appoint. Funny, train fare from Kaduna to Abuja has been increased.

I do have to say, the last time I was there, I didn't see any problems with the runway. Anyhoo , that's barely my problem.

On Augagust, I had no problems with him. Many South-Africans, not just in this forum, but foreign forums are guilty of the things you accuse Agaugust of.

Your Bangui stories don't cut it for me.

When it's warranted, I'll issue a Craigb, Mzilakazi or sometimes Patches alert for you. cool cool

I think the photo above is one the problems plaguing your Defence industry, the sale of IP rights. There is nothing wrong with selling IP rights, however it becomes a problem when you do it the way you South-Africans do it. You've basically lost the MRAP market, and you're not selling LAVs. The Israelis are leading in this area in Africa.

I want to know your view of the general South-African industry market, why in your opinion are you not making sales enough in Africa in recent times?

Sales generally have fallen, what's the cause of this, in your opinion. The US draw down in Iraq isn't included. They had virtually replaced thier South-African MRAPs for theirs. The Europeans, well, we're going for the Dingo and Bushmaster, and American. Only the Spanish and Sweden stayed. I might also be wrong, however let's see your opinion.
