Religion / Anja Ringgren Loven Rescues Another Child Abandoned In Akwa Ibom by henryanna36: 3:10pm On Jul 30, 2017
As shared by Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Loven....

'This boy was found by PACT AKWA IBOM ( Prevent Abuse of Children Today ). PACT did not have money to help the boy so they shared these pictures on Facebook for someone to help the boy.

When I saw the update I immediately called David Emmanuel Umem and within a few minutes Uwemedimo Dominic and our team went out and saved the boy.

He is now in the hospital and will later be taken to our children center "Land of Hope".

The boy is very sick and needs serious medical treatment that ACAEDF will pay for. He is now in our custody, and I cannot wait to hug this boy and give him million of kisses. A new child, a new brother to Hope, David Jr. and all our children.

This boy is alive because of the immediate actions taken by David and our team. Forever my heroes'

Politics / Update On NNPC Workers, UNIMAID Staff & CJTF Members Kidnapped By Boko Haram by henryanna36: 3:02am On Jul 30, 2017
UPDATE ON OIL EXPLORATION TEAM AMBUSH

The incident of 25th July 2017 where some Boko Haram Terrorists ambushed our troops including members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) escorting some staff of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as well as that of University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) on oil exploration in Borno Yesu District of Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno state is unfortunate and highly regrettable. Most regrettable also is my earlier release on the said incident about the rescue of all NNPC Staff. The error in the statement was not deliberate.

The Nigerian Army in this present dispensation is reputed for timely dissemination of information on activities of our troops in all theatre of operations. We have strived to keep the public informed on our activities with no intention of distorting any fact. Our troops have doubled efforts in the pursuit of the Boko Haram terrorists while search and rescue is still on-going to secure the safe return of the remaining civilians.

So far the search and rescue team has recovered additional bodies of 5 soldiers, 11 Civilian JTF and 5 members of the exploration team.

Contrary to reports in some media, 6 members of exploration team out of 12 that went out are still missing, while one of the NNPC staff returned to base alive.

On the other hand, our pursuit team also recovered 2 of our own Gun trucks and an additional Toyota Buffalo Gun truck from the insurgents. In addition, the team also made the following recoveries; 4 Rocket Propelled Grenade Bombs, 4 Rocket Propelled Grenade chargers, 6 AK-47 rifles, 1 Anti-Aircraft Gun, 1 General Purpose Machine Gun,1 Anti-Aircraft Gun Barrel, 1 Rocket Propelled Grenade Tube, 4 Dane Guns, 8 Tyres and 2 Tyre Rims.

Other items recovered include 1 Pumping Machine, 2 Tyre Jacks, 1 Super Battery, 5 Reflective Jackets, 3 Toyota Hilux, 4 Jerry cans filled with PMS, 1 Motorola Radio, 1 Geographical Positioning System (GPS), 21 empty Jerry cans, 2 Shovels and 3 Food Coolers. Troops also recovered 122 rounds of PKM ammunition, 213 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 1255 Anti-Aircraft Guns ammunition, 4 boxes of API 12.7mm ammunition, 1 AK-47 Rifle Magazine, a Digger, 2 Bows and 13 Arrows, 2 LLG Bombs, assorted drugs and assorted working tools.

The Nigerian Army condoles with the families of all that lost their loved ones in this unfortunate incident. Search and rescue efforts are on-going. We are counting on the goodwill and support of the populace in volunteering valuable information that could help in the search and rescue operation.

What the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists are doing are pure criminal activities of kidnapping to gain funds. This has been noted and will be jointly addressed in conjunction with other Security Services.

The Nigerian Army remains resolute in the fight against terrorism and would not relent in its effort to safe guard lives of citizens, properties and the territorial integrity of the country.

Thank you so much for your kind support.

Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman
Director Army Public Relations

Governor Wike decries  politics of under-development by some Rivers politicians

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has decried the politics  of under-development being promoted by some politicians  from the state, saying that he will remain committed to develop the state despite plots to distract him.

Speaking while commissioning the
Rukpokwu --Aluu Road and Rumuokoro Market and Park in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Thursday, Governor Wike said Rivers people must take note of those who are bent on frustrating  development  in the state.

The two projects were billed to be commissioned by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.  The Acting President  had earlier  commissioned two roads before leaving for Abuja.

Governor Wike said: "They are annoyed that our projects  are being commissioned. Their anger will not stop us from delivering projects for our people.

"We wrote to the Acting  President  to visit Rivers State to commission a number of projects on the 19th July, 2017. We got a response  that due to his crowded schedule  that day was not feasible.  They gave us 27th July.  The advance  team came in yesterday  and said there is also the commissioning  of Indorama.

"I heard on the radio that the other party wrote the Acting President  saying that the commissioning of projects make us shine. They have forgotten  that we shine because  God is with us and the numerous  projects that we execute for our people ".

At the Rukpokwu-Aluu road, the governor told the people that during the campaign he made two promises to the people , which he has fulfilled.

The governor urged the Market Women  trading along the Rumuokoro road to stop as they are expected to begin using the market.

Governor Wike  also asked the members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers to desist from picking passengers  on the road and start using the park in the market.

He said: "Now that we have opened the market, nobody should  trade on the roadside. Nobody should pick passengers  on the road. Henceforth we  will take action against  those who flout this order. "

Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor, Electronic Media.

Politics / Finally Court Frees Man Who Named His Dog Buhari(photos) by henryanna36: 12:58pm On Jul 26, 2017
VICTORY FOR JUSTICE AS COURT FREES JOACHIM IROKO.

I was at the Sango Ota Chief Magistrate Court in Ogun State this morning with Mr. Fadile Niyi, a lawyer in the law firm of my learned senior, Mr. Ebun-olu Adegboruwa for the case of Mr. Joachim Iroko.

Iroko came to prominence in 2016 after he was arrested, detained and charged to court by the Nigeria Police Force for "conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace" for naming his dog 'Buhari'.

Following the serial failure by the prosecution to present its witnesses and the continued absence of the nominal complainant who had claimed that Iroko named his dog 'Buhari', after his father, we applied for the case to be struck out by the Court for want of diligent prosecution.

The Magistrate, O. O. Adebo, granted our application and the case was accordingly struck-out and Mr Iroko walked home a free man.

I had argued from the outset that the Nigeria Police did not have any case against Iroko and that there was no legal basis to arrest, detain and prosecute the poor trader over an alleged conduct that did not harm and could not have injured anybody. There was nothing like an attempt to cause breach of peace ab initio.

I want to specially commend Mr. Adegboruwa for leading lawyers in defence of Mr. Iroko pro bono. I appreciate Messrs Fadile Niyi and Tosin Adesioye from the chambers of Adegboruwa & Co., Mr. Adeola Samuel Opeyemi and Mr. Vincent Obetta who were all part of the defence team which I am proud to have been part of.

I want to also appreciate the media for their conscientious coverage of this case and all Nigerians who had expressed support in one form or the other for Mr. Iroko.

When the incident happened in August 2016, I responded by leading a campaign for the freedom of Iroko. That this case has ended this way is a victory for justice and a boost to the image of the Nigerian Judiciary as the last hope of the oppressed and the common man.

We hope that the Nigeria Police and their instigators will now allow reason to prevail. But if they wish to resurrect this case, we shall meet them again in court.

Aluta Continua.

Thank you.

Politics / Fayose Pictured With Oyedepo As His Son Rogba Gradates From Covenant University by henryanna36: 5:59pm On Jul 21, 2017
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has called on Nigerians to invest in the country's education sector expressing belief that a Nigerian university can one day emerge best in the world with proper funding.

The governor made this remark while speaking with newsmen at the 12th Convocation Ceremony of the Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State. The first family was in Ota on Friday to celebrate one of their Sons, Oluwarogbayimika Fayose who is one of the "Royal Set of Eagles" released by the institution in 2017.

"I won't condemn people for sending their wards to study abroad but I have always believed the best could be gotten here in Nigeria. During my first tenure as governor, I withdrew my sons from a private school(Olashore International School) to SPEB public primary school in Ekiti, an initiative of my then administration.  My Sons graduated from Nigerian Universities, I want others to emulate me, we have the best here, we can choose to invest here", Mr. Fayose said.

The governor who earlier expressed appreciation to God and the University for adding value to life of the graduand urged Nigerian graduates to take advantage of the opportunities they were exposed to in transforming Nigeria to a better place.

He said, "As a parent, we are fulfilled. Graduating from here is a value added to his life, as the fourth son of the family and the third to graduate from this University, it gladdens our hearts and we are happy to identify with him, we thank God for his life and we thank the University for helping us to train him.

"When you have certificate issued to you, it comes with character, I urge modern day Nigerian graduates to make a sense out of the certificate and the character and take advantage of the opportunities they were exposed to so as to have a better tomorrow for themselves and the future generations.  I wish these graduands the best and pray that the parents reap the fruits of their labour over them".

Expressing delight, excitement and greatness at being a product of the Covenant University, Mr. Rogba Fayose who said being a son of a serving Nigerian governor added no extra pressure on him while in school thanked his parents for their moral and financial support in helping him achieve such feat. He expressed readiness at facing future challenges as they come with God on his side.

Founded in the year 2002 by the General Overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide  aka Winners' Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, Covenant University according to a 2017 publication by the National Universities Commission(NUC) is the best private university in Nigeria.

Politics / Smoked Fish Seller Beaten To Coma In Benin By Obaseki Boys (Photos) by henryanna36: 2:34pm On Jul 20, 2017
At Mission road axis yesterday evening at about 5:35pm a certain woman selling smoked fish was beaten to coma by boys engaged by Governor Obaseki to curb street trading.

From what was gathered from those on ground, they said as from 5pm in every evening these miscreants apprehend traders, take them to Oba Market Police Station, demand money for failing to be settled.

According to reports, the so called Obaseki boys as they are fondly referred to get settled on a daily basis.Any failure to settle them result to arrest of the  helpless sellers. They are usually left to sleep in the cell so as to appear before the mobile court the following day.Whoever pays the sum of between N15k to N30k gets released.

In as much as we condemn the act of street trading under any guise, traders shouldn't be subjected to this inhuman and uncivil treatment in the hands of these extortionists.

Government should as a matter of urgency device more acceptable approach to address this menace.

Politics / Andy Uba Picks APC Form For Anambra Governorship Election (Photos) by henryanna36: 6:31am On Jul 20, 2017
Yesterday Senator Andy Uba took a giant step forward in the advancement of his desire to seek the mandate of the good people of Anambra State in the forthcoming gubernatorial election by picking the APC expression of interest form.

This,he believes is a right step in the right direction and a rare opportunity to correct the ills of the past through the ballot box as Anambra people prepare to vote a new government in power come November 19.

To fully tap into this change mantra, he urged the good people of Anambra State to be well prepared ahead and dust their voters card in order to realign their thoughts together and make history for their beloved State.

According to him,it is his intention to further match his words with action, and put the state on the right pedestal, where it truly belongs.
