Celebrities / PHOTOS: Couple Marry Dressed In Shrek & Princess Fiona Wedding Costumes by henrydeelinkag(m): 2:34am On Mar 01, 2013
An eccentric couple literally had a fairytale wedding- after tying the knot dressed as SHREK and PRINCESS FIONA .

Devoted Paul Bellas, 42, painted himself green and wore monster ears and eyebrows for the movie-themed big day.

Bride Heidi Coxshall, 30, dressed as Shrek’s sweetheart Princess Fiona for the couple’s wedding – which featured a cast of characters from the animated film .

Their four-year-old son Leo dressed as Donkey, Shrek’s best pal, while Heidi’s brother John gave her away as Muffin Man from Shrek 2.

Other guests turned up as fairytale characters Snow White, Cinderella and Belle from Beauty and the Beast .

The happy couple tied the knot on Saturday at the Radisson Blu Hotel in StHelier, Jersey.

Paul, a groundworker, said the couple had been together for five years when Leo’s love of Shrek inspired them to finally tie the knot .

Paul said: “Leo was watching his Shrek DVD, which he absolutely loves, and Heidi said wouldn’t it be nice if we had a little Shrek wedding.

“The message behind Shrek is that it doesn’t matter what you look like or who you are, it’s all about true love – I thought it sounded absolutely perfect

“All the guests embraced the idea and thoroughly enjoyed themselves – there were times when we fell about laughing.”

Heidi, who made the couple’s costumes herself, says she was determined to give their 60 guests a memorable time – even if it meant an hour and a half applying green make-up.

The care assistant said: “I wanted a beach wedding originally but they won’t let you have one of those in Jersey.

”The Shrek idea basically came about through Leo and it made sense. I’m not the skinniest lady in the world so I thought I would make a pretty decent Fiona.

“Paul’s hasn’t quite got Shrek’s podgy face – but I thought he made a really handsome ogre on the day.”

Registrar Sue Groves said she had carried out many novelty weddings in her time – but never married two ogres.

She said: “ I had to see them before they got their make-up applied as I can’t marry people who aren’t recognisable.”

Heidi actually tied the knot in human form then returned in green for the reception – mimicking the way Princess Fiona transforms into an ogress at night.

Celebrities / Nigerian Woman Delivers Baby 25 Months After Pregnancy. by henrydeelinkag(m): 2:13am On Mar 01, 2013
Nigerian Woman Gives Birth To Baby 25 Months After Pregnancy Conception
With men it is impossible but with God all things are possible.

This popular biblical verse has become a reality in the family of Mr & Mrs
Adeoye who believed God for the fruit of the womb for over fourteen years after marriage.

Miraculously, Mrs Oluwakemi Adeoye became pregnant in 2011 and to her surprise nine months after, the baby refuses to come out.

She became worried and started going from one hospital to the other in a bid to find solution to her problem.

But as the Lord will have it, on the 15th of January this year, she gave birthto a bouncing baby girl within 5 minutes of labour.

The miracle baby has been christened Emmanuela, Opelope-Jesu, Ite-Oluwa-kii-si Adeoye

God is the same today and Forever.. If he did for them he can still do thesame for you.. DO YOU BELIEVE IN HIM

TV/Movies / School Where Kidnappers Are Trained Found In Delta State, Nigeria by henrydeelinkag(m): 10:17am On Feb 26, 2013
The Governor Of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, weekend, explained why he would not sign into law, the Bill passed by the state House of Assembly, prescribing death penalty for kidnappers, describing the Bill as a duplication of efforts.

He also said that a school for training of kidnappers had been uncovered in the state.

Speaking at Unity Hall at Government House, Asaba,  on questions posed to him at a town hall meeting during the visit of the Good Governance tour team, led by Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, to the state, he said:

“As a state government, we have been dealing with kidnapping. Presently, we have been able to identify some hot spots in the state, what are called the red spots, where kidnappers are trained. We have identified those areas.

“We are strategising on security for those areas and that is why, in the last few weeks, you could see that the incidence of kidnapping has gone down. There are other strategies we are still working on to deal with kidnapping, which I cannot disclose here.

“Another question is, why are we having issues with death penalty for kidnappers? There is already a death penalty in our laws. Every kidnapper is an armed robber, I believe, so I don’t know why we are talking today of death penalty for kidnappers. When you go to court, the case is usually kidnapping/armed robbery. Why do I have to sign another law for kidnappers?

“Once you are a kidnapper, you are also an armed robber. The law is already there to sentence kidnappers to death. And I must say that in this state, in the last few months, our judges have been bold enough to convict many kidnappers. They are working hard to sentence more kidnappers.”

Celebrities / Exclusive: "My Wife And I Sleep With Other Girls Together" - T-pain by henrydeelinkag(m): 9:57am On Feb 26, 2013
Check out this recent interview T-Pain did with TT Torez. He spoke very candidly about his music career and how people think he’s “fallen off”.
Additionally, he spoke about the connection he has with his wife Amber Najm and how he’s learned some real life lessons from some mistakes he’s made in his marriage (having a child with another woman). Check out the interview and let us know what you think.

On having threesomes with his wife:
“Alot of people were saying me and my wife were swingers and that we had like a Will-and-Jada kinda open marriage and I was just telling them that me and my wife just sleep with other girls together. It’s not like we can just go off and have relationships with other people. People were assuming we got married for nothing. Just because we smash a every now and then doesn’t mean we have an open marriage.”
On being successfully married for ten years:
No, I mean it’s that mind frame that has us together, it’s things that we can agree on things like that. It’s not just the smashing of the women. Before any of y’all heard of me, I was married.
On rumors that he had a baby outside of his marriage:
Yeah. I mean there’s always mistakes happening. Me being famous, I’m getting left and right temptations. We all got things we need to work on.

Crime / Nigerian Policemen Slapped Ushers At Winners Chapel Church In Enugu by henrydeelinkag(m): 10:07am On Feb 21, 2013
The Nigerian Police officers have exhibited the usual shameless tendencies by desecrating, disrupting and distracting worshippers during the church service of Sunday 17 of February, at the State Headquarters of Winners Chapel
Enugu ,arresting a deacon and an official with the Crowd Control Unit (CCU) in the process. The drama started after the first service when a member of the CCU was defied by a worshipper when instructed to stop for other vehicles from the other lane to pass. The errant worshipper , (the Chief Detail to the Governor of Enugu State) refused to follow the order of the Traffic Controllers and in the process his vehicle hit and run over the leg of another worshipper.

In the ensuing melee and confusion the Chief Detail held the tie and pushed around the Usher who retaliated by roughly shoving the man. The wife of the chief detail came to the rescue of the husband by giving the Usher two hot slaps and another lady CCU member slapped back the wife of the government official and a brief fight ensued at the car park leading to tearing of dresses of both women.

The aggrieved Government Official called for reinforcement from a group of mobile policemen who came to the church to arrest the leaders of the CCU but met with resistance from church members. They called for a second and third heavily armed reinforcement that came with two Hilux vans from Government House , Enugu and after much argument, whisked off a Deacon named Kanayo and a CCU usher named Louis.

All efforts by the resident pastor and other pastors, elders and deacons to plead with the top government official failed. The duo were arrested and taken to Ogui Police Station around 1pm and were there till 9pm. This melee caused confusion , distracted the second service as worshipers abandoned the church service to witness hollywood movie. Traffic was held up for over two hours while angry worshippers expressed disappointment at the Police partiality in the matter.

The entreaties of people including the State Director of State Security Services and an Assistant Commissioner of Police to release the church officials failed as the government top shot insisted on teaching the church rats the lessons of their lives.

The Resident Overseer, Pastor David Bamigboye sent his assistants including Pastor Kunle Olarewaju, Pastor Kingsley Ikobi, Pastor Obiora Madu . The Chairman of Deacon’s Assembly , Deacon Chibuzo Ogoma and Elder Igbinidion were among officials of Living Faith Church stranded at Ogui Police Station till night in efforts to release their Deacon and CCU official.

It is obvious that this Chief Detail cannot understand how this ‘rag-tag’ usher had the effrontery to confront and obstruct his exalted personality. This man whose infamous name is not worth mentioning, should know that his boss, Governor Sullivan Chime, just escaped from the hands of death and Governor Liyel Imoke in Calabar is still battling to escape from his travails. Therefore, showing off might in the church is not good for posterity purposes.

Old Anambra State knows the story of Bishop Godfrey Okoye in 1975 versus Senator Offia Nwali and Barrister JSP Nwokolo owner of Pascan Jake Hotels and how posterity smiled on them after conniving to collect church land in show of might with the Catholic Church. Governor Ohakim beat up a priest and in the process lost his governorship seat in Imo State.

The political enemies of Rev Fr Mbaka have become dustbins in Enugu State. Therefore, whosoever this man thinks he is, the church is not the place to display executive recklessness, whether Catholic, Anglican, Winners, Redeemed or otherwise. He should tender unreserved apology to the management of Living Faith Church for being used by the enemy to distract the Winners family in this season of double portion, next levels and prayer reach.

This man who claimed that he is a member of the church, was banging on the table of the resident pastor in utter show of disrespect for the ecclesiastical institution. Therefore, as Living Faith Church is gathering crowd unto it, they should be mindful of mixed multitudes whose arrogance, anger and faulty orientation could mar the operations of the spirit.

Therefore, lessons on pride and anger management should form part of the foundation class

Celebrities / Exclusive: Nigerian Celebrities Paid Millions For The Presence Of Porn Star by henrydeelinkag(m): 5:55am On Feb 21, 2013
"The Darey Concert: Paying Millions For The Presence Of A Porn Star" - By Wale Odunsi
Okay, I hardly comment on entertainment and showbiz news. I prefer to stay on the national issues/political terrain which are my jurisdiction.

However, I could not hold back the temptation to do a piece on Darey's 'Love Like A Movie' concert. No doubt, the LLAM held in Lagos was superb; star- studded, proper management, lights, sounds et al.
In fact not a few have adjudged the show the best of its type in recent years. The ovation and positive review was not unexpected considering the artiste involved. Dude is good-looking, knows his onions, greatly talented and business oriented.

About a week to the D-day, news went viral that renowned Reality TV girl, Kim Kardashian, will be in the country as a co-host of the event. At 8:20pm of Saturday, February 16, 2013, she flew in. Trust Nigerian blogs, before her arrival, no other news existed. Even major news tabloids caught the bug. At least for three straight days, it was Kim this, Kim that.
I have no beef about that. I am certain the organizers splashed plenty six or seven figures that sorta hype. And for the publicists, heavens once again beamed a wide grin at them; they must have smiled to the banks, perhaps their closets,
depending on where they keep their monies.

After every every, Kanye West's heartrob and baby-mama to be, left the shores of Naija just when the concert was about to start. Initially I thought she developed flu and had to quickly jet out. Soon after, I learnt she was actually invited to do what I like to tag 'Cameo' (a short appearance by a popular
figure in a music video).

At the Eko Hotels venue, the Kim simply posed for pictures with some of our local and a few international champions who clearly were star- struck; you could see it in their eyes and on their foreheads. I even spotted the wife of former Cross River governor, Onari Duke with her. LLAM number one guest was kind enough to open the show, spending a total forty seconds on stage.

That was it…Chikena! In all, she was there for three-quarter of sixty minutes. By 10:20pm Sunday night, she was aboard a plane back home. The major (if not only) flaw of that outing was the presence of Kim. If it is true that she was paid hundreds of thousands of Benjamins (aka US Dollars), it would indeed be appalling. We are talking about someone who shot her way to the limelight via the now infamous sex-tape which
anyone can still download on the internet for free!

So for the sake of money, we've sent our morals, decency and integrity on vacation. Just few weeks ago, Miss Kardashian-West was paid $200,000 for a trip to Ivory Coast. She then proceeded to donate a meager $2,000 to a local orphanage, an amount less than one percent of her total financial terms (including flight, hotel and security charge).
Obviously Darey and his team wanted a name that would pull the crowd out of their homes. Question: Was that the best they could come up with?
Whatever happened to female celebs known for their and hard work and larger than life persona: Alicia Keys, India Arie, Adele among many others.

As a humanitarian, it is sheer stupidity to think that a clique forming big boys would dole out all that money for below-an-hour attendance of an actress whose only movie to her credit is a pornographic motion picture. It would have made
more sense if she stayed throughout the event, to at least justify the huge amount spend on her appearance.
Charles Novia rightly noted and I wish to re-echo his statement: There was absolutely no need for Kim Kardashian at Darey's concert.

Celebrities / Julia Pastrana: The Ugliest Woman In The World Buried 153 Years After Her Death by henrydeelinkag(m): 10:03am On Feb 19, 2013
During the mid-1850s, Pastrana met Theodore Lent, a U.S. impresario who toured the singing and dancing Pastrana at freak shows across the United States and Europe before marrying her.

In 1860, Pastrana died in Moscow after giving birth to Lent’s son, who inherited his mother’s condition. The son died a few days later, and Lent then toured with the mother and son’s embalmed remains. After changing hands over the ensuing decades, both bodies ended up at the University of Oslo in Norway.

“Imagine the aggression and cruelty of humankind she had to face, and how she overcame it. It’s a very dignified story,” said Mario Lopez, the governor of Sinaloa state who lobbied to have her remains repatriated to her home state for burial.

“When I heard about this Sinaloan woman, I said, there’s no way she can be left locked away in a warehouse somewhere,” he said.

Crowds flocked to the small town of Sinaloa de Leyva on Tuesday to pay their respects to Pastrana, who was buried in a white coffin garlanded with white roses.

“The mass was beautiful,” said New York-based Mexican artist Laura Anderson Barbata, who has led a nearly decade-long campaign to have Pastrana returned to Mexico for a proper Catholic burial. “I was very moved. In all these years I’ve never felt so full of different emotions."

Celebrities / Patience Ozorkwo Talks About Being A Widow! I Don't Even Remember Sex by henrydeelinkag(m): 6:10am On Feb 19, 2013
I don't even remember s*x. I have the right to remarry but I don't want to. So, why think about it. It is when you set your mind at it that you begin to desire it. I have erased it from my mind. When I see young people in love calling themselves 'honey', I just ignore it and move on. I don't even remember s*x because God has made me to be very busy. I am attending one function or the other. Even if I am in a relationship with a man, the man won`t feel much of me because I am very busy. Look at some young girls who are married, they don't give enough time to their families, how much less an old woman like me. By God`s grace I am very busy. You can't even bring it, once you bring it I cut you off'.

She also said she is lucky because none of her husband's family members disturb her. A lot of men want to marry her, but because they are married she sends them back to their wives. As a matter of fact, she does not want to remarry.

Celebrities / Goldie's Husband, Andrew Harvey, Interview With Thenetng.com by henrydeelinkag(m): 6:06am On Feb 18, 2013
Goldie's husband opened up to Thenetng.com. Read the interview below...

When did you wed her? And were you still married as at when she passed yesterday?
We wed in December 2005 and were very much married when she passed indeed I was talking to her on arrival in Lagos before the fateful event
I see you moved back to England. Do you have another family?
I work in Malaysia, we have a private home in UK, I do not have a second family
Also did you have kids together?
No kids, we were planning this year
There had been speculation for many years that she was married to an 'oyinbo' man. But no one could lay hands on anything. Why did you keep it a 'secret'?
Our private life is nothing to do with work life, there has to be a balance
See more after the cut...

How did you hear of her death? I found out you last saw her in December?
I was talking to her on arrival in Lagos before the fateful event

How did you meet her? She must have been very young...
I met her at a friend's leaving party and fell in love straight away, but had to work hard to persuade her I was genuine

So you will be planning to come here for burial rites...
Yes I have applied for visa and shall come next week

But how did you manage the Prezzo drama?
Prezzo was part of BBA game, just like in the movies, there was nothing to fear

But funny it dragged way beyond BBA
It dragged because the media dragged it, other wise it would have died naturally. Prezzo will say anything to get attention

Do you think he fell in love? And did you ever think Susan liked him for a minute...?
People fall in love and it's not impossible to love more than one person, but there are different levels. She liked him initially, but began to despise him and distanced herself as he tried to use her she complained he was very manipulative

How did you come about your alias 'Oyibopeppay?
Oyiiibopeppay is a name used in the villages for white man getting burned in the sun. I used to work in the bush erecting BTS for MTN and Glo

You have direct access to her password? The memories album was posted on her twitter. Or you requested for an admin to post?
I am an official admin. I don't need any password but my own. It was authorised by Goldie

One last question: so much speculation on cause of death. I see from your facebook timeline that you've followed the reports. Have the doctors/family/label told you what the cause of death is?
An autopsy is being carried out and we will await results. The rest is speculation and hearsay

And did she have any medical condition?
She had no medical condition,

Is it true she was in India recently?
She was in Malaysia, we spent Christmas together away from prying eyes

What will you miss most about her?
Everything, she was the most beautiful person I ever met, no moment was wasted. Sweet, intelligent, sexy and a magnificent cook!!!!

And she was a determined young lady...
Very. That's what I liked about her

Are you originally from England? Was she officially a citizen of your country by marriage? Or that was not concluded?
I'm from England and was processing Nigerian citizenship before I was transferred to Malaysia. Of course she was citizen of UK before we met, she lived and schooled there

She was indeed a star, as I'm sure you've seen from the tributes coming from far and near. Even the BBC and Billboard recognise her star

Celebrities / "Cossy You Are An Agent Of Darkness"- Alice Okite by henrydeelinkag(m): 11:14pm On Feb 17, 2013
What comes to your mind when you hear the name 'Cossy Orjaikor'? – of course, it’s the certified bad girl with the big bóobs and bossoms, right?

Well, Popular blogger Linda Ikeji published a story on Tuesday that had to do with Cossy (and her bóobs as usual) – the post generated loads of comments, but there was a remarkable one that may caught everyone's attention..

One of the reader posted a comment that referenced Cossy’s role in almost breaking up her marriage.

She claimed that her marriage was threatened “due to the huge size of Cossy Orjiakor’s chest and her husband’s inordinate obsession with the “agent of darkness” breasts.”

The comment was posted by one Alice Okite.

“This lady again..a woman that nearly ruined my marriage..my husband became addicted to her bóobs and insisted I should enlarge my bóobs after putting birth to four children, including him that has been sucking the breast…he left home for a month just because I didn’t enlarge. tank God for my parents and pastors that talked sense into him. he is back to his senses. Cossy u are an agent of darkness.”

Nairaland / General / Man Turns Into Snake After Giving 5 US Dollars To School Boy by henrydeelinkag(m): 9:25am On Feb 16, 2013
There was panic in Kuwadzana yesterday afternoon when rumours circulated that a snake had mysteriously entered a Grade Two pupil’s tummy after he got US$5 worth of ‘miracle money’ from a stranger. The minor (name withheld) is said to have picked a R2 coin before meeting the man whom later gave him a US$5 note.

Claims are that the man, in white robes, mysteriously appeared in front of the boy at the school and handed the minor US$5 before disappearing with the boy and later turning into a snake, which got into the boy’s mouth. Our news crew visited the boy’s parents where upon arrival, residents and school children had mobbed the child’s lodgings (address provided) jostling to haven a glimpse of the boy who had to be locked into another room by his father.

The father left his house and took refuge at a neighbour’s houe to divert attention from his son, who was complaining of stomachaches.

The father also wanted to address members of the crowd who might have something to offer. Some were pleading to give parents advice to help the boy and others claimed to be members of some apostolic sects who had dealt with similar problems.

Father to the little boy, Pedzisai, said he was equally confused as to what had happened to his son. However, he looked convinced that something out of the ordinary had indeed happened to his son. And whatever it is was proved serious enough to make him rush his son to Highfield – tailed by a huge crowd – where he received some prayers.

“I was at home when two pupils came here saying my son had picked a 2 Rand coin which later turned into a US$5 note. Reports are that a certain man in white robs appeared and handed him the money and disappeared with him. The man was said to have turned into a snake which later entered his tummy through the mouth. He is currently complaining of stomach pains. We rushed him to Highfield, with a huge crowd following and there, it was CONFIRMED that it had indeed happened,” said

Pedzisai who sounded convinced that indeed a snake had entered into his son. Our news crew managed to talk to the little boy but he denied picking up the 2 Rand coin.

“I did not pick the coin but I passed near it and some boys started  shouting that I had picked the coin. I do not want to learn there again,” he said.

The father said he wants to transfer his son from Kuwadzana 5 council Primary School.

“I went to the school and demanded him out. He was just crying and confused as he was being pulled in different directions with some pupils shouting at him,” he said.

Mother to the boy, Lucia said: “He is just saying he has stomach pains but he is ok. He is denying picking the coin. He has told me three times that he does not want to go to the school again.”

Another source however claimed that after the snake incident, the minor returned to class, acting strangely and head butted another pupil who bled but the blood was never seen. Angry parents were baying for the blood of the headmistress who was reportedly out of office.

“There is something with that school as another pupil also acted funny in the past,” a parent said.

The school deputy head, Mrs Gunje dispelled the claims saying: “Nothing of the sort happened here. Everything is progressing well and the child ws even denying such claims.”

Many different versions of the story were reported and some were even taking the matter as far as linking it to the much controversial ‘miracle money’.

“I once told people who love freebies so much that one day they will get into trouble with this miracle money thing. Now you see miracle money has turned into a snake. Nhamo inamo zvayo miracle money idyai mega,” said a man in his early 20s after My Zimbabwe asked what had taken place.

However, considering the way the boy was so afraid and looked traumatised, it was pretty evident and painted all over that some so mysterious had taken place. So dreaded was the young boy that he didn’t want to mention anything about the snake. All he could freely saw was that he doesn’t want to go back to that school.

Celebrities / Nollywood Actress, Yetunde Akilapa, Was On Thursday Sent To Kirikiri Prison, Apa by henrydeelinkag(m): 2:57pm On Feb 14, 2013
Miss Akilapa was on Wednesday detained at the Alade Divisional Police headquarters in Somolu, Lagos following a complaint lodged by a complainant, accusing the actress of stealing the 100 master keys found on her.

According to a statement written by her at the police headquarters, it was not the first time the suspect would be accused of stealing.

She said: "There was a day she came home to see my relative and when I opened her bag after she went to the toilet I found a phone that was later found to have been stolen. We seized the phone from her and returned it to the owner despite her denying that she did not steal the phone."

When the case came up at the Magistrate's Court in Somolu last week Thursday, the police prosecutor, Inspector Anyanwu, told the court that Miss Akilapa was arrested by a mob that accused her of conspiracy and stealing of bunches of keys.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, is punishable under section 383, 516 and 517 criminal code of Lagos state.

In her response to the charge during the court session, the accused, who claimed to be trained by popular actor Abbey Lanre, said: "I have featured in about five films including Aiyelaba.

"I produced Bunmi Akata which I use a bunch of 100 keys to act. I am also a makeup artist.

"On the day I was arrested, a woman named Mama Ayoola, called me and said that I should bring weaveon for her. I did not know Mama Ayoola was not living at that compound. When I got there, I asked a girl about Mama Ayoola and she directed me to knock on the next door.

" An Igbo man peeped from the door and said Mama Ayo was not living there. And as I was about going out, the mob pounced on me, searched my bags and found the hundred keys with the weaveon. They later handed me over to the policemen at Alade Divisional headquarters."

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the magistrate, Justice Mrs. E.A. Adekomaya, granted her bail in the sum of N14,000 with two sureties who must own a landed property in Lagos, with evidence of paying tax to Lagos state government.

The case was adjourned till 12 March, 2013, while the defendant was moved to Kirikiri prison in Apapa, Lagos pending when she could perfect her bail conditions.

Celebrities / Nigerian Woman Suffers Hot Soup Attack From Lover “my Fiance Poured A Burning St by henrydeelinkag(m): 11:30am On Feb 14, 2013
A 27-year-old woman, Mary Sunday, has been in the hospital bed at Igbobi Orthopaedic Hospital seven months after she was allegedly attacked by her fiancé, Corporal Isaac Gbanwuan, with a pot of boiling stew and a lighted stove.

It was learnt that Sunday had lost her ears due to the attack.

Before the attack, which took place in August 2012, Sunday, was to report for training at the Police Academy, Kano as a cadet officer.

Still nursing severe burns to her neck, chest and upper arms, Sunday can barely sit or walk straight. She holds her head stiffly and talks with difficulty as she recalled the events that led to her present state to PUNCH Metro on Wednesday.

She said, “I have known Gbanwuan for a while, while I was still a student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, but it wasn’t until our marriage introduction in 2011 that I moved in with him at the Pedro Police Barracks, Lagos."

“On the day I was assaulted, Gbanwuan and I went to see our doctor. We had some health issues. While we were on our way back home, I made a phone call. Immediately we got home, Gbanwuan started querying me. He accused me of keeping lovers and claimed the person I called was my lover."

“I tried to explain to him that it was my sister I called, but Gbanwuam was not listening. He began to beat me,” Sunday said.

Unable to take it any more, Sunday said she ran into the kitchen of a neighbour with Gbanwuan giving pursuit. He allegedly broke into the kitchen where he continued to assault Sunday.

She said, “Then to the horror of those who tried to intervene, Gbanwuan seized his neighbour’s cooking stove on which was a pot of boiling stew, emptying the entire contents on me.

“I don’t know for how long I was unconscious but I was later told that I was in a coma for seven days. I learnt the stove also exploded after Gbanwuan threw it with the boiling soup at me."

“I was first rushed to a private hospital at Bariga before I was eventually transferred to Igbobi hospital.

“I couldn’t tell my family for a while because I could not use my hands; they were sort of stuck to my chest. It was after much treatment, that I was able to use my hands and call my family.”

Sunday’s lawyer, Mr. Moses Kassim, told PUNCH Metro that a petition had already been sent to the Police Provost Office and the Commissioner of Police.

He said, “We have still not received any response from either of them. Gbanwuan is yet to be arrested despite the fact that Sunday’s family reported the case at the Pedro Police Division."

“While Sunday is confined to a hospital bed, Gbanwuan is still at his duty post at the Ebutte Ero division, showing no concern for her condition.”

Copies of the acknowledged petition received by the Provost Office and Commissioner of Police were dated January 17, 2013.

When PUNCH Metro contacted Gbanwaun, he denied causing any harm to his fiancée. He said, “What Sunday has told you are all lies. She has been going about saying all sorts of things about me."

“That is how she wrote a petition through her lawyer to the Lagos State Police Command. Anyway, the matter is already being investigated by the command.”

When our correspondent sought his opinion on how Sunday got her injury that had kept her in the hospital, the policeman said, “I don’t know what to tell you. Like I said, the matter is being investigated."

The Lagos Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Damascus Ozoani, said he was yet to be fully briefed on the issue.

He said, “I don’t have all the facts right now. Let me investigate and I will respond to the story.”

But Sunday said she was more concerned with getting well.

She said, “All I want is the money to treat myself. My doctors are afraid to tell me how much because they don’t want me to be worried, but I have overhead them discussing several times."

“There is a deep wound in my chest which has to be treated and then my neck has to be operated on because it has been stiff since the incident and then there is the matter of my upper arms."

“The doctor, who attended to me at the first hospital I went to in Bariga, told me that I would have to go to India to have my ears reconstructed because they melted. He said I would need N5m."

“Gbanwaun’s family has abandoned me. They did so immediately my family reported the matter to the police. My mother is dead and my father is aged. Coping with my daily treatment here is a struggle for my siblings.”

Education / Unilag Student Sold His Kidney To Graduate by henrydeelinkag(m): 3:08am On Feb 13, 2013
A University of Lagos (UNILAG) student who couldn't swap kidneys to save his father’s life confessed in the hospital that he sold one of his kidney to graduate with a first class.

The 24 years old boy recollected how he sold one of his kidneys to the dean of his faculty a few days before his convocation. He says he was being threatened with the reality of having to spend an additional two years to his already prolonged eight years stay in the school.

He was nearly in tears while he explained why he couldn't donate his last and only kidney to his father who is in desperate need of a kidney to survive.

Despite him graduating with a first class, it is sad to say he has never been able to secure an adequate job.

So with no kidney, no job, and no money, how does this young boy expect to save his dying father?

No job and not enough money…and now he needs a kidney to save his dad.

Romance / 10 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Getting Into A Serious Relationship by henrydeelinkag(m): 11:52am On Feb 08, 2013
If you find yourself moving in this direction, or if you are already in a serious relationship, here are other questions to think through and to talk about together:
1. Is our relationship about mutual trust? A relationship can't survive without honesty and openness. If lies creep into the relationship, it's time to get truthful, or call it quits.

2. Can we be ourselves when we're together? If you have to be somebody you're not, or if either of you feels you must put up a front, then you're in the wrong relationship.

3. Are either of us overly possessive? Words and phrases like "smothered" and "jealous" come to mind. If one of you can't move without the other one knowing it, then possessiveness is a big problem. If this happens, both of you need some space, and maybe you even need to back away from the relationship. These traits are red flags that your boyfriend or girlfriend may become abusive.

4. Do we regularly have good conversations? Chat room-type chatter is fine. But now and then you need to have a conversation that goes a bit deeper—that lets you know each other's likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, hopes and dreams.

5. Have we set physical limits? This question is extremely important and often difficult to answer, especially if a relationship has already become too physical. To avoid pushing the limits beyond the point of no control, you need to set agreed-upon limits early on. You also need to know why you need limits.
More questions worth asking: Do both of you understand why God wants people to save sex for marriage? Do both of you clearly understand why sex outside of marriage is so destructive? If you break up tomorrow, would you end the relationship with no regrets about your physical involvement? If you can't answer yes to these questions, please talk with your youth pastor or someone else who can give you guidance in this critical area.

6. Do we have dates that include our friends? If your friends or family complain that they don't see you anymore, your relationship has gotten way too exclusive.

7. Do we plan how we'll spend our time together? With "nothing to do," it's easy to fill up your time by becoming more physically involved than you should. Do your best to begin each date knowing how you're going to spend your time together.

8. Do we have a good understanding of what forgiveness means? People mess up. That's just the way it is. That's why it's important to forgive each other. Holding grudges because you've been wronged kills a relationship. On the other hand, no one should say "forgive me" when they really mean "accept my faults and don't expect me to change." If you want to regain trust, if you want to keep the relationship healthy, then changes must be made.
The Bible calls these changes "repentance" (Acts 26:20, NIV), and it means that you will, with God's help, stop doing the behavior that got you into trouble in the first place.

9. Can we disagree agreeably? Can you handle disagreements without screaming, sulking, or slamming phones or doors? And what about compromise? A relationship isn't about winning, it's about wanting what's best for each other. If either of you must always win, you're in a no-win relationship.

10. Do we keep God at the center? Jesus Christ needs to be the center of each of your lives and of each of your relationships. This obviously means being able to have good conversations about what God is teaching each of you. It also means that each of you is committed to personal spiritual growth. And it means having Christian friendships (apart from each other) that hold you accountable and help you live out your faith. All in all, an exciting faith adventure is key to an exciting dating relationship.
