These photos of Ladipo Primary School were freshly taken in Mushin area of Lagos. Lagos state boasts of the biggest internally generated revenue, with huge allocation from the federal government that literarily enriches fat cats in the state.

However, Lagos is also governed by hype and of hype. Recently Punch newspaper discovered a high school where students sat on broken windows to study, today it is another discovery of one the world's most inhuman learning centers in the heart of Mushin Lagos.

Politics / Inspiring Biograghy Of Nelson Mandela, Rise From Grass To Grace by henrydeelinkag(m): 12:27am On Dec 06, 2013
Born Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela in Transkei, South Africa, on July 18, 1918, he was one of the world's most revered statesmen and revolutionaries who led the struggle against apartheid in South Africa.

A qualified lawyer from the University College of Fort Hare and the University of Witwatersrand, Mandela served as the president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.

His political career started in 1944 when he joined the African National Congress (ANC), and he participated in the resistance against the then government¹s apartheid policy in 1948. In June 1961, the ANC executive approved his idea of using violent tactics and encouraged members who wished to involve themselves in Mandela's campaign. Shortly after, he founded Umkhonto we Sizwe, the armed wing of the ANC, and was named its leader.

In 1962, he was arrested and convicted of sabotage and other charges, and was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment. In 1963, Mandela was brought to stand trial along with many fellow members of Umkhonto we Sizwe for conspiring against the government and plotting to overthrow it by the use of violence.
Sentenced to life in prison.

On June 12, 1964, eight of the accused, including Mandela, were sentenced to life imprisonment.

His statement from the dock at the opening of the defense trial became extremely popular. He closed his statement with: "During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to the struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die."

Mandela served 27 years in prison, spending many of those years at Robben Island Prison, off Cape Town. While in jail, his reputation grew and he became widely known across the world as the most significant black leader in South Africa.

He became a prominent symbol of resistance as the anti-apartheid movement gained momentum in South Africa and across the world. On the island, he and other prisoners were subjected to hard labor in a lime quarry. Racial discrimination was rampant, and prisoners were segregated by race with the black prisoners receiving the fewest rations. Mandela has written about how he was allowed one visitor and one letter every six months.
Free and fair.

In February 1985, President P.W. Botha offered Mandela his freedom on condition that he unconditionally reject violence as a political weapon, but Mandela rejected the proposal. He made his sentiment known through a letter he released via his daughter.

"What freedom am I being offered while the organization of the people remains banned? Only free men can negotiate. A prisoner cannot enter into contracts," he wrote. In 1988, Mandela was moved to Victor Verster Prison and would remain there until his release.

Throughout his imprisonment, pressure mounted on the South African government to release him. The slogan "Free Nelson Mandela" became the new battle cry of the anti-apartheid campaigners. Finally, Mandela was released on Feb. 11, 1990, in an event streamed live across the world. After his release, Mandela returned to his life's work, striving to attain the goals he and others had set out almost four decades earlier. In 1991, the first national conference of the ANC was held inside South Africa since the organization had been banned in 1960.

President Mandela

Mandela was elected president of the ANC, while his friend Oliver Tambo became the organization's national chairperson. Mandela's leadership and his work, as well as his relationship with then President F.W. de Klerk, were recognized when they were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. South Africa's first multiracial elections, held on April 27, 1994, saw the ANC storm in with a majority of 62 percent of the votes, and Mandela was inaugurated in May 1994 as the country's first black president.

As president from May 1994 until June 1999, Mandela presided over the transition from minority rule and apartheid, winning international respect for his advocacy of national and international reconciliation.

Honors and personal life

Mandela received many national international honors, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, the Order of Merit from Queen Elizabeth II and the Presidential Medal of Freedom from George W. Bush.
In July 2004, the city of Johannesburg bestowed its highest honor by granting Mandela the freedom of the city at a ceremony in Orlando, Soweto.

In 1990, he received the Bharat Ratna Award from the government of India and also received the last ever Lenin Peace Prize from the Soviet Union.

In 1992, he was awarded the Ataturk Peace Award by Turkey. He refused the award citing human rights violations committed by Turkey at the time, but later accepted the award in 1999. Also in 1992, he received the Nishan-e-Pakistan, the highest civil service award of Pakistan. Mandela's autobiography, "Long Walk to Freedom," was published in 1994. He had begun work on it secretly while in prison.
Mandela and his wives.

Nelson Mandela's love life has seemingly run parallel to his political one — and can be divided up into three key eras. The young activist married his first wife, Evelyn Mase, in 1944. The couple, who had four children, divorced in 1958 — shortly before Mandela became an outlaw with the banning of the ANC.

Mandela's second marriage — and probably his most famous — largely coincided with the time he spent locked up at the hands of the apartheid regime. In 1958 he walked down the aisle with Winnie Madikizela, who stood by his side and actively campaigned to free him from prison. Winnie became a powerful figure in her own right while Mandela was imprisoned, but a series of scandals involving her led to the couple's estrangement in 1992, her dismissal from his cabinet in 1995, and their official divorce in 1996. The couple had two children. Winnie Mandela was also later convicted of kidnapping.

His third marriage, to Graca Machel — the widow of former Mozambique President Samora Machel — came on his 80th birthday as entered his role of world statesman.

Education / MUST Read:yaba College Of Tech. Rector & Management Are The Backbone Of Cultism by henrydeelinkag(m): 8:31pm On Dec 04, 2013
The Rector of Yaba College of Technology, Kudirat Ladipo, has been accused of exploring desperate means to victimize Fatima Salau, a final-year student of the institution for daring to reveal how the school management props up and shields cult gangs.

A lecturer at the institution, Yaba Tech, said that part of Mrs. Ladipo’s moves was to set up a panel which would be used to victimize the student after she had written her exam. We were was told that the whistle-blower, Ms. Salau, wrote her last paper on Thursday, November 15, 2013 and immediately received a letter from the school’s management to face an indicting panel. Her offense was that she reportedly stated that the institution’s top officials were responsible for the absurd increase in the number of cult members and their violent activities on the campus.

Several sources told us that the panel was clearly out to intimidate the whistle-blower when she appeared before them. They said the panel members informed Ms. Salau that she faced the risk of not receiving her statement of results for the Higher National Diploma (HND) she recently concluded. In addition, our sources disclosed that Ms. Salau was also warned that her National Diploma (ND), which she earned more than two years ago before enrolling for the HND, may also be recalled.

Ms. Salau, the public relations officer of the Lagos State chapter of the Joint Campus Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), spoke a few weeks ago, victim discussed the menace of cult groups at Yaba Tech. During her appearance, she disclosed that the spike in the violent activities of cult gangs, which led to a recent closure of the school by protesting students, was due to the strong backing cult members received from the management of the College.

Several weeks ago, students at Yaba-Tech shut the school down after a suspected cult member used a bottle to viciously attack a fellow student from the Banking and Finance Department. Students were particularly irate as there had been no prior argument between the victim and the assailant before the attack was launched, leaving the victim with severe injuries.

To register their outrage over the assault, protesting students closed all entrances into the institution, barring any activity. They demanded that the culprit be identified and punished. The rector reportedly cut short a trip to return to campus and appease the students, promising to address the menace of cults. Several students told us that the rector subsequently failed to meet certain conditions the students gave for discontinuing their protest.

The students’ demands included that the management take full responsibility for the treatment of the victim of the attack, identify and punish the culprit, publish the full list of all cult members on the campus, and eject cult members who reside on the campus especially in the Complex Hall residence.

“The cult members often boast that they are paid by the management,” said a former member of the Students Union Government (SUG). He added: “At a recent meeting, the management also told us that they would speak to the cult members to stop their nefarious acts. It all means they know each other, both the management and the cult gangs.”

Instead of meeting the students’ demands to curb cult activities and rusticate known cult members, the rector and some of her team of administrators seemed determined to go after innocent students. Students went on another round of protests after Yaba Tech’s management released an alleged list of supposed cult members. “The list did not contain names of cult members,” one student told Deelinkage.

“It was populated with names of innocent students, while the actual cult members who are well known to the management were deliberately exempted,” he alleged. Students rejected the list, describing it as a ploy by the management to shield the cult members. The students demanded that the management should start over and prepare a genuine list of actual cult members.

In her interview, Ms. Salau stated that cult members were well known to the management, but added that the Rector, Mrs. Ladipo, was “trying to be mother” to them all. The whistle-blower also disclosed that some cult members who are non-students reside on the campus of the college.

When our correspondent visited the college recently, numerous students who asked for anonymity accused the school management of funneling cash to the leaders of cult groups, thereby providing incentives for the violent gangs to increase. One of the students accused the rector of cultivating the cult gangs with pay-offs so that they would be handy for her husband, a politician who is reportedly mulling a run in the upcoming 2015 elections.

“Although we like the woman, but the truth is that she was the least expected to emerge as our rector,” said one of the students. “She became the rector through political influences, and I guess she is servicing the interests that gave her the office by helping to generate touts for their next round of election.”

A senior lecturer at the college told us that he was not aware that the rector was engaged in clandestine breeding of cult members for political purposes. He added, however, that the perception was damaging enough. “If some students believe that the person who runs this college was breeding a group of students who attack other students, then that is bad for the image of this revered institution and undermines the moral authority any leader must possess in order to lead effectively.” The lecturer added that the allegation was serious enough for the rector to resign or be removed.

In the meantime, we learned that the panel set up by Mrs. Ladipo asked many questions of Ms. Salau but did not give her the opportunity to answer. Rather, members of the panel focused on detailing to the whistle-blower the likely vindictive actions the college could take against her for daring to expose the management’s indifference to the scourge of cult groups.

A lecturer told us that he learnt that the panel members received a huge shock when they asked Ms. Salau whether she regretted her whistle-blowing action and she gave a resounding “No!” as her answer.

Culture / Nuk Culture: Lost Nigerian Culture Becomes A Mystery by henrydeelinkag(m): 3:59pm On Dec 01, 2013
The Nok culture appeared in Nigeria around 1000 BC and vanished under unknown circumstances around 300 AD in the region of West Africa. This region lies in Northern and Central Nigeria. Its social system is thought to have been highly advanced. The Nok culture was considered to be the earliest sub-Saharan producer of life-sized Terracotta. It has been suggested that the Nok culture eventually evolved into the later Yoruba Culture of Ife based on similarities seen in the artwork from these two cultures.

The refinement of this culture is attested to by the image of a Nok dignitary at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. The dignitary is portrayed wearing a "crooked baton". The dignitary is also portrayed sitting with flared nostrils, and an open mouth suggesting performance. Other images show figures on horseback, indicating that the Nok culture possessed the horse.

Little is known of the original function of the pieces, but theories include ancestor portrayal, grave markers, and charms to prevent crop failure, infertility, and illness. Also, based on the dome-shaped bases found on several figures, they could have been used as finials for the roofs of ancient structures.

Their function is still unknown, but scientific field work has started in 2005 to systematically investigate the archaeological sites. For the most part, the terracotta is preserved in the form of scattered fragments. That is why Nok art is well known today only for the heads, both male and female, whose hairstyles are particularly detailed and refined. In 1928, the first find was accidentally unearthed at a level of 24 feet in an alluvial tin mine in the vicinity of the village of Nok near the Jos Plateau region of Nigeria.

As a result of natural erosion and deposition, Nok terracottas were scattered at various depths throughout the Sahel grasslands, causing difficulty in the dating and classification of the mysterious artifacts. Luckily, two archaeological sites, Samun Dukiya and Taruga, were found containing Nok art that had remained unmoved. Radiocarbon and thermo-luminescence tests narrowed the sculptures’ age down to between 2,000 and 2,500 years ago, making them some of the oldest in West Africa.

The Nok culture was discovered in 1928 on the Jos Plateau during tin mining.

In 1932, a group of 11 statues in perfect condition were discovered near the city of Sokoto. Since that time, statues coming from the city of Katsinawere brought to light. Although there are similarities to the classical Nok style, the connection between them is not clear yet.

Later still, in 1943, near the village of Nok, in the center of Nigeria, a new series of clay figurines were discovered by accident while mining tin. A worker had found a head and had taken it back to his home for use as a scarecrow, a role that it filled (successfully) for a year in a yam field. It then drew the attention of the director of the mine who bought it.
In 1977, the number of terra cotta objects discovered in the course of the mining excavation amounted to 153 units, mostly from secondary deposits (the statuettes had been carted by floods near the valleys) situated in dried-up riverbeds in savannahs in Northern and Central Nigeria (the Southwestern portion of the Jos Plateau).

Based on discoveries that have been found in an increasingly larger area, including the Middle Niger Valley and the Lower Benue Valley, the physiologist and engineer A. O. Olubunmi argues that proto-Yorubas were the creators of the Nok civilization. He attributes the mystery of the disappearance of the Nok civilization to the disappearance of Yorubas from northern Nigeria due to massacre, expulsion and racial assimilation prior to and following the arrival of Islam. However, the archaeologist Bernard Fagg, in his studies on the Nok culture, identified the Nok culture with central Nigerian groups such as the Ham (Jaba) ethnic group, based on similarities between some of the cultural practices and dressing of those modern central Nigerian groups and the figures depicted in the Nok art.

Award-winning singing duo, Peter and Paul Okoye famously known as P-Square are the highest paid hip-hop artistes right now, ENCOMIUM Weekly findings have revealed. The Okoyes are currently charging between N9 and N10 million for a show within Nigeria.

Apart from information gathered from the source close to the duo, independent music promoters/artiste managers also confirmed this, declaring the Koko master, D’Banj as the second highest paid artiste. The DB Record boss charges between N6 and N7 million as a standard show fee.

“Before the split of Mo’Hits, it used to be D’Banj. When D’Banj was charging between N7 and N8 million, P-Square’s fee was N5 million”, a veteran music manager affirmed, adding, “Right now, it’s P-Square.”

The afro-pop king, 2Face Idibia is the third highest paid. Although, 2Face’s performance fee has not been consistent, it’s within N5 and N6 million.

Industry sources told ENCOMIUM Weekly that 2Baba, as he’s fondly addressed, easily adjust fees because of the love he has for fans.
“I agreed that he’s the third because he loves what he knows how to do best than the money. He’s man of the people and he loves to reach out to the people. He’s always happy when he’s on stage.”

Star Boyz owner, Wizkid, who stormed the industry three years ago, rose to become the fourth highest paid music star, collecting between N4 and N5 million. Aside artistes that still receive less than N1 million, Naeto C and Waje’s fee is N1.5 million.

“Basically, each artiste has a standard fee for gigs, concerts but for private parties such as birthday, wedding, etc, it varies. Some people would call for reduction simply because they are individuals, not brands. It depends on the artistes whether to accept or not. What I know is that it’s always fixed”, said an artiste manager.

2- D’Banj - N 8million

Nairaland / General / Mutation!!! See Man With Nose On Forehead by henrydeelinkag(m): 11:55am On Sep 26, 2013
After his nose was damaged, then infected and deformed, this Chinese man has had a new one artificially grown on a rather unusual place.

The 22-year-old man, identified only as 'Xiaolian,' damaged his nose in a vehicle accident back in August 2012, but decided not to seek medical treatment. An infection then gradually corroded the cartilage, and, when Xiaolian finally went to see a doctor, it was too late: the surgeons were helpless.

There was no other choice left but to grow a new nose to transplant it, replacing the damaged one.

The surgeons placed a skin tissue expander onto Xiaolian's forehead, cutting in into the shape of a nose and supporting it by cartilage taken from his ribs.

The medical procedure was carried out at a hospital in Fuzhou, China's Fujian province.

Surgeons say the nose is well-developed, and the replacement surgery will be carried out soon.

Celebrities / Late Prophet Ajanaku Was A Chronic Liar, Not A Man Of God, Sleeps With His Femal by henrydeelinkag(m): 11:36pm On Sep 25, 2013
One of Prophet Ajanaku’s aides who worked for him for five years, Emmanuel Olasemeji who is a furniture maker, opened up to Encomium Weekly on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, about the prophet. Read the interview below:

How did you become one of late Prophet Ajanaku’s aides?

The first day I saw him, I was not attracted to him because of his physical look. He bleached. However, when my boss who was one of his church members introduced me to him, he prayed for me. My decision to visit his church was based on curiosity. That was in 2007. Sincerely, there is no way you won’t marvel at his preaching. He preached with persuasive and authoritative words.
I was wowed. And that was when he was about completing his multi-million naira mansion.

And most of the church members volunteered to assist the builders. He asked me to work for God in his house and do the furniture. I can’t lie to you, when Prophet Ajanaku spoke you would think it was God. His church members saw him as god. He often told us that he wines and dines with God and that if he wants anybody to die tomorrow, it would happen. We all respected and feared him. You dare not say no to his request.

He said he had the power to save someone from ultimate death. My decision to open up was not to malign his character but be factual.
Even before his death, I confessed this feat openly to him. I can’t doubt his power but not as a Christian. For instance, someone came to see him. He said some people predicted he was going to die at a certain date. Thus, he was warned not to go out. Prophet Ajanaku closed his eyes for a minute and the next moment said the man should go out that day that nothing would happen to him. And nothing happened to him indeed.

I can say that though he was very powerful but his lifestyle and character were questionable.

How many months did you work in his house?
I stayed inside his house for nine months to complete the whole job. The reason was that most of the job was done at night. He won’t allow you to work on the upper parts of the house during day time until he gave you the nod. And mostly at night. If you complained that it would disturb people staying with him, he would say as the owner, all I needed was his approval.

How would you describe him?

Although he wielded spiritual power but he was not a man of God. The bubble burst some years back when one of his personal aides, Mr. Adefeso traveled with him to South Africa on a missionary assignment. The aide is quite educated. He is an elderly person. That was in November 2010. And there is one thing about prophet, whenever he is angry with anybody, he would tell the church membersthat God is angry with such person and that anybody that relates with such a person would incur the wrath of God.

Thus, once you incur his wrath, the whole church would stop greeting you. Before they travelled to South Africa, there was an issue on ground. He was renovating the church. He engaged the services of one of his church members who sold woods and planks to supply the church.

I supervised the project and it was N750,000. He was to pay after the project. After the project, he refused to pay. And the member knew it wrecked his small business. It became an issue and it was his personal aide, Mr. Adefeso who waded in and said prophet would pay. That was when they travelled to South Africa. When they got back, we discovered they had an issue.

The aide claimed he discovered some of his secrets while on the trip but till date refused to disclose them. However, when prophet came back, he quickly started telling us the man was evil, that we should excommunicate him. I know him well, once he knew you had discovered some of his negative acts, he would blackmail you with lies. That was the same thing he did for Tope Alabi.

What are the things you discovered about him?

First, he is a chronic liar. Do you know that the money he owed he never paid back? The matter was taken to the police at Panti and he denied owing the man. He said he has paid him. I was shocked. They called me as a witness. Though I was scared but I stood for the truth. He spent over N500,000 to settle the case. And at the end we even became the victim. He specialized in turning the tide against people who speak the truth.

He would fabricate lies against such person. And the medium he used most was a soft-sell magazine. Second, I can tell you authoritatively that he sleeps with his female aides who stay in his house. He has agents who recruit ladies in the church who are not employed.

They used their situation to entice them to work and live with the prophet. And some only live with him for like three months before he would fabricate lies against them and send them parking. But none of them could disclose their ordeal because he was a god.

But what about his wife?

His wife, Joy, was staying in the upper room. She only comes down during church services. That’s why most people don’t really know anything about her. She dares not come down unless he gave approval.

We only discovered the truth when one of the ladies who was also the wife’s aide known as Becky confessed to a pastor at Abuja that he was sleeping with her. She was dating a friend of mine who was also staying in his house. The house is so big and many of us lived with him. My friend and Becky travelled to Abuja and he introduced her to a pastor in Abuja. That one now said Becky has a secret and unless she revealed it, it would affect their relationship. It took her four days to open up that she has been sleeping with late Ajanaku.
She was scared she would die after the confession but with prayer in Abuja, nothing happened to her. Although we were suspicious but she gave us instances which we were aware of and revealed how other girls too were his sex slaves.

Also, most of his members go to the church with their wealth but left poor. He was very rich. He swindled them of their wealth and virtues.

Though we have never seen him with charm before but he often told us he knows about all incantations because he had been into all sorts of occultism before he started his ministry.

He said they are all powerless compared to God’s power. He is a pretender. Once he was about to discard his enemies, he would say negative things about them and since we were not privileged to see or hear from God, we believed him. That’s what he used on those girls too. He bleached and encouraged the girls too to use the cream. I had to leave in 2011. I spent five years with him.

Is it true that he once had a wife?
Yes. It’s no secret that he had a wife and two kids who died before he started the ministry. Aside that, he had a baby out of wedlock, but he rejected the mother.

What’s the woman’s name?

I don’t know because he was even the one who revealed it to us when the mother came to collect the boy’s allowance of N20,000. Only few aides knew. I was so close to him because I worked for him.

He had four rooms in that house which are exclusively his own. He had a particular room that if he was there for three months you won’t know.

On Friday, September 20, 2013, we contacted the ministry’s spokesperson, Tosin, over some of these allegations but he declined to make any comment. “Please, I have nothing to say.”

Celebrities / MUST READ: Rapper Eva Narrates How Much She Loves Her Ex And How She Got Involve by henrydeelinkag(m): 12:27am On Jul 12, 2013
“It was a crazy wake-up feeling yesterday July 9th. I practically didn't want to get out of bed cause I was so sick with the Flu. I had just flown back from Abuja the night before and it seemed perhaps, the only thing I got back from Abuja was the damn flu! I didn't even buy my favorite snack time crunch, Kilishi - which I am still mad about by the way.

My head was hurting like hell, my throat was so sore I could barely swallow a thing. Santiago, my good friend was over at my apartment to pick me up for the day. Seeing my condition he asked that I stayed home and rest the day out.

"Hell no!" Trust me to have said that. "I just got back from Abuja," I said to him.."Four days straight, lounging. I have work to do, I have deadlines.." I said in a bid to fight the urge to stay home. Isn't that what Isay all the time? 'Noooooo! No rest. I have work to do, work to do..' Oh dear!

One hour passed and it began to feel like I got better with a shower. I was even able to sit up and put some makeup on, cover those unsightly blemishes that appeared even more face-wrenching in my sick condition.

I got dressed and told Santiago I could drive myself to the studio. He didn't think I should, but I did anyways.

You know, I was already halfway across town to Sossick's when I realized this was a wrong decision andI really should have stayed home. But I forged ahead, my pretty little head hammering away with headaches,my temperature rising out of control.

Studio session was great! And it lasted a lifetime. We didn't get the perfect work inspiration until 9pm and it was worth it as always. But then that meant I was going to leave the studio late and drive all the way back home at a crazy hour of the night. At this time, my headaches had doubled up on hammer speed and my eyes were shooting fireworks through my contact lenses.

I hadn't had a thing to eat all day except the cereal Santiago had forced down my throat in the morning, and a roll of gala that I couldn't fight off the temptation of eating. I love my gala.
But I didn't care about the headaches or the hunger at this point. 10:45pm.

All that pain was overshadowed by the amazing sound of the new music Sossick had just produced richoretting through the speakers. It wasn't a waste of time afterall! Yaaaayyy!
Time to drive home.

Here's how you know God is keeping you from trouble, on purpose.
I had driven a long-little distance away from the studiowhen I realized I must have forgotten my ATM card in the studio. 3bank accounts, only one ATM card all in the name of "Eva, thou-shall-not-overspend"- I couldn't imagine the thought of not having any ATM card at all. So I drove back, picked it up and head on again.

Could this have been the 8mins that saved me from something more life threatening?

Over time, I have gotten myself accustomed to driving at night, at the wrong hours, by myself. Did that automatically make me feel safe, or make it feel right? No. Not in this lifetime. So here I was, cursing under my breath through the seemingly unending traffic at 11:15pm along Okota-Cele roads, my head caving in with each bang of pain, my body shivering through several bursts of heat from my blood. I felt super sick! This was Flu + Fever + whatever else made me feel like shit!

I was held up in traffic caused my impatient Lagosiansfor almost 25mins before I hit the free road. I was like"Whoooop whooop! Can't wait to get home!"

And as I cruised along, my thoughts began to shift from my headaches and the fever to memories of my Ex.

For a while now, 5 days or maybe 6, I have thought about my Ex. Sometimes in passing, other times more intently.

We had had a nasty breakup, lifespan of almost 5months now and I was already over him. Or I tried to make myself believe I was. Truth is, I never really got over him. Never stopped caring, never stopped having flashes.

I have had the better part of 5months to evaluate why things got so bad, what I did wrong, how I could have been better - for myself, for him, for us.

And trust me, I have done quite enough of beating myself up about it.I was wrong, in a lot of ways. I accepted that feat. I prayed to God about it. I told myself I had moved on
.
Well, maybe I did.

For the most part, I hadn't written him an annonymous letter, or sent a text, or stalked his internet space- Facebook, Twitter.., like I normally would have. So in my mind, Whooop! I was good.
But here I was, driving in the dead of night, thinking about my Ex and smiling to myself as I saw his face like clouds in my head, his smile, his perfect white teeth, his curly hair, his eyes...

Then ----- Screeeeeeeecccccchhhh!!! BAM! BAM!!!!
Flash of light, my voice yelling "Jesus! Oh Jesus!"

Celebrities / Canadian Based Nigerian Teenage Lady Who Produced Jay-z’s New Album Beat, Wondag by henrydeelinkag(m): 11:52pm On Jul 06, 2013
16-year-old Nigerian-Canadian girl who produced the beat of Jay-Z’s new album is speaking for the very first time.

Ebony Oshunrinde popularly calledWondagurlwho was credited for producing the beat for track ‘Crown’ inJay’z’Magna Carta Holy Grail albumis based in Brampton, Ontario Canada.

The teenager said she taught herself how to produce beats after watching a video of Jay-Z and Timberland working in the studio together.

“It inspired me and I wanted to do the exact same thing that he did,”

“It’s a really good feeling. I want to show young people that they can do it. Anybody can be successful. It doesn’t matter where you’re from”

In 2012, Oshunrinde became a champion after winningToronto’s Battle of the beat makers competition at age 15.

She became serious about music and signed up with Black Box entertainment, the same label as Classified and started working in the studio.

Wondagurl said the beat that landed him on Jay-s album started with a reggae song.

She sampled the music and added her own twist using computer software.

“It has a lot of bass and a lot of bounce,”she said.
She worked on her beat once and sent it to Travis Scott,a young rapper and producer from Houston who met Oshunrinde last year. He happened to be working in the studio with Jay-Z when she sent him her beat.

A few days later, Oshunrinde was at home with her brother and sister when her phone buzzed.
“He texted me and said, ‘I’m about to change your life,”Oshunrinde said.

When Scott told her that her cut made it on to Jay-Z’s album, she thought it was a joke.
“Usually that doesn’t really happen to 16-year-olds,” theteen said.

And when she told her mother the good news, she cried.

Oshunrinde has never met Jay-Z and, like everyone else, had to wait for the digital release on July 4 to hear “Crown.”

She just got her passport last year, and hopes she’ll meet the rap mogul when she travels to the USA soon.

This is very impressive.

Kudos to Wondagurl

Celebrities / Pornography Takes Over Nollywood by henrydeelinkag(m): 12:13am On Jul 04, 2013
In recent times, there’s been an increased concern as pornographic movies seem to have taken over Nollywood. If you are an ardent follower of the recent trends in Nollywood flicks, you would have noticed the increase in the degree of nudity portrayed in some of the recent Nollywood releases.
Until recently, Nigerian actors have been very conservative when it comes to showing sex and nudity on camera. Well, not anymore.

The more daring acts were left to Ghanaians as they were considered bold enough to engagein sexually suggestive roles. This sort of paved the way for the popularity ofGhollywoodmovies in Nigeria as Nigerians, out of curiousity patronized Ghanaian films just to see how far they were willing to go with the obscenity.

Now, Nigerians don’t need to look any further as some Nigerian actors have taken the trend a notch ahead off the Ghanaians with the releases of hardcore porns, some of which includedRoom 027, Destructive Instincts, Bold 5 Babes, The Benjamins, Bedroom AssassinsandTaboo.

Interesting also is the fact that gay movies too are being experimented upon. Two examples arePregnant HawkersandSinful Act 1&2as well as a Yoruba movie, titled,Lesbian.

The most prominent of these hardcore porn movies is Destructive Instincts, produced and starring Nigerian born American actress,Judith Okparapopularly known asAfro Candy. In the movie, Afro Candy plays the role of a seductive mistress; with a steamy sex scene where a male actor was grappling her bare breasts and buttocks.
Her boldness and confidence about her act was attested to when she announced on Facebook for actors who could do nude roles and are interested in being a part of her production to get in touch with her.

Some would say that this current trend is a degradation of values that we hold as Africans.‘This will tell you how much our values have been lost in the name of civilization. A decade ago, that kind of movie will be heavily criticized, but now, people are buying it off thestreets and watching it online‘, said an observer.

Recent investigations have found out that these movies have not gone through the certificationand classification of theNigerian Film and Video Cencors Board, (NFVCB), a body that is supposed to censor and classify every movie released in Nigeria.

When contacted, the Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs of the NFVCB,Yunusa Tanko Abdullahitold our reporter via telephone, that combating proliferation of these movies has been difficult as their jurisdiction does not cover movies released online. ‘Our mandate is only limited to classified movies that are going on the television and on the satellite pay channels. We really have a big challenge dealing with those contents that are being posted online‘.

Under normal circumstances, the NFVCB is supposed to screen them before public consumption, but Abdullahi says the producers sometimes try to outsmart the board by submitting edited versions. ‘Sometimes what they present to us are edited versions and go on to release the uncensored versions. We have already mastered that tactics, and so we outsmart them by going to the markets to check for ourselves what they actually released and we ban the movies, arrest or prosecute the producers‘, Abdullahi added.

The producers increasingly rely on the internetas a means of promotion and ensuring these movies reach as wide an audience as possible. Some of the films run full-length while cuts have been taken from some of them and pasted on YouTube as trailers.
Unfortunately, most young people have unchecked access to the internet, so even if theboard can protect them from acquiring the hard copies on the streets, how are they protected from online viewing?
President of the Association of Movie Producers,Zik Zulu Okaforwhile agreeing that the online platform needs to be checked stated that the producers may need to question the objectives of such movies. ‘As much as we every writer, actor or producer has a right to expression, it is only proper thatwe maintain and uphold our values as Africans‘, Okafor said.

In their defense, the actors have sometimes pointed at globalization and desire to meet international standards as a motivation for concentrating on this feature.Collins Onwocheifor instance, who stars along sideTony Umezin ‘Room 027‘, says that the movie isn’t a pornography but mere professionalism on the part of the actors.

Onwochei, who in one of the scenes was engaged in a steamy sex cut with an actress, told our reporter, ‘I’m shocked that calls are coming from all around the world to say it’s a porn movie. I keep saying that you guys are hypocrites. You are asking me why was the guy and the girl naked, but have you seen the entire movie? Same people that watch all episodes of Spartacus in the comfort of their living room and nobody gives a hoot about it‘.

A movie critic,Gbenga Akiloin his reaction said that this nudity isn’t exclusive to movies alone. ‘You are talking about Nollywood movies, have you seen the music videos of the so-called music artistes with sexually suggestive dance moves and almost nude dressings? We have a serious problem at hand‘.
Respected Nollywood producer and director,Chico Ejirowho seems to be indifferent to the trend tells NET, ‘I really can not dictate to another producer what he should or shouldn’t do. If that is the kind of movies that he could rather make than morally upright movies, that’s his choice‘.

The question that begs is, aren’t there ways to enforce some form of penalties on these producers by the guilds?

President of the Lagos Chapter of theActors’ Guild of Nigeria(AGN),Victor Osuagwumaintains that the guilds have always advice their members against productions that will tarnish the image of the country. ‘I am strongly against making sexually erotic scenes in movies. This is a new administration as youcan see, and we have resolved that we would do our part to ensure some level of sanity in the industry.

I see it as a desperate attempt by practitionersto gain quick attention and hopefully climb upthe ladder using controversies as a tool. Do you know any popular actor, actress, producer or director that is making any of these hardcore porn movies? The truth is, sometimes our society may frown at it on the outside, but they seem to be fascinated in secret‘
Nollywood is unarguably one of the largest film industries in the world in terms of number of annual film productions. An approximately $250 million movie industry beaming Nigeria to the rest of the world is fastbecoming one of the country’s biggest employer of labour.

Sexually illicit representations were before seen as the demeaning derivative of the decadence in the moral values of the West andrecently in the movies of neighbouring West African country, Ghana. Now the infectious trend has surfaced in Nollywood with little or nothing the authorities can do about it’s proliferation.

Nairaland / General / Meet 3 Indian Wolf Sisters Suffering From Rare Werewolf Syndrome (photos) by henrydeelinkag(m): 12:38am On Jun 20, 2013
3 of the 6 Sangli sisters of India are afflicted with Werewolf Syndrome, also known as Hypertrichosis or Ambras Syndrome. This is a condition that is so rare, itaffects about 1 in a billion people on the planet. Werewolf syndrome is characterized by abnormal and excessive hair growth on the body. It’s a genetic mutation, in which cells that usually inhibit hair growth are left “switched on.” The Sangli Sisters, residing in central India, acquired their hypertrichosis from their father.

The three Sangli sisters who have werewolf syndrome – Savita (23 years old), Monisha (18 years old), and Savitri (16 years old), are forced to use special creams each day, or else their hair regrows very fast. Their mother hopes to fund laser removal surgery for them, but the cost of such surgery is currently out of reach (about $7,000 per person).

Their mother recalls the day she was forced to marry when she was only 12 yearsold, not knowing about her husband’s affliction until the day of the wedding.

Documentary filmmaker Sneh Gupta wants to make a movie featuring the Sangli sisters, who hope to become free of their werewolf syndrome so they can eventually get married.

Other people besides the Sangli sisters who suffer from werewolf syndrome include Julia Pastrana, who was a sideshow performer in the 19th century,

Supatra Sasuphan, a Thai girl who in 2011 was named world’s hairiest girl by Guinness, and the famous family of Burma, of which the disease spanned 4 generations.

A bus preacher was reportedly almost lynched on Saturday morning at Toyota Bus stop, in front of the popular Ladipo Spare parts market, when some condoms allegedly fell out of his bible as he preached the ‘Word of God’.

The self acclaimed Man of God was dragged out of the commercial bus and beaten into a pulp before he was rescued by some policemen.

According to eye witnesses, the Pastor had embarked on his journey from Apapa and proceeded to preach to the people on the bus, using very strong words like “If you wear trouser you’ll go to hell! The Devil invented Make up! Weave-on is from Marine Kingdom! If you have pre-marital sex you will burn in hell and your skin will peel!”

It was learnt that the people in the bus were so moved and some started falling under the anointing.
Eyewitness, Mr. John Mbakogu, who was on his way to his shop at Ladipo said, “People were just falling as he was laying hands. One man almost fell out of the bus under the influence of the Spirit. It was amazing until he raised his hands to cast the demon soul of one girl, and 2 Durex condoms fell out

The angry men in the bus who had been having pangs of guilt due to the pastor’s preaching about sex suddenly got really angry and pounced on him, who all of a sudden started shouting, I also preach safe sex! Safe sex is good!”

However, Policemen had to be called to the scene to save the pastors life. So far 2 arrests have been made, and the Condoms have been kept as evidence

Religion / TB Joshua And Chris Oyakilome Labelled By Cultists By Ghanaian Pastor Who Says H by henrydeelinkag(m): 11:51pm On May 21, 2013
Ghanaian Bishop Isaac Owusu Bempah, Founder and Leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, has labeled two of Nigeria's celebrated pastors as partners in winning souls for the devil.

In the words of the controversial Owusu Bempah, the founding President of Believers' LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as"Christ Embassy", Dr Christian Oyakhilome (popularly known as"Pastor Chris"wink and General Overseer of The Synagogue Church ofAll Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Balogun (aka TB) Joshua, are not "true men of God", but leaders of occults, winningsouls for the devil.

This claim, according to Owusu-Bempah, is based on God's revelation to him in a vision as well as his own analysis of the scripture, works and conduct of the two popular heads of two religious organisations in Africa.

Owusu-Bempah said he once heard Pastor Chris saying he saw nothing wrong with homosexuality and lesbianism, and wonderedwhich true man of God would lead his flock with such beliefs.

"No doubt he [Pastor Chris] is a friend and partner of TB Joshua",Owusu-Bempa noted last week, claiming both men are dubious men of God who have a pact with the devil.

For Owusu Bempah, Nigerians have allegedly realized the dubious character of the Nigerian televangelist faith healer and founding president of Christ Embassy and his partnership with TBJoshua and have consequently chased him out of the country to South Africa, where he presently resides.

On TB Joshua, Owusu-Bempa claimed he once saw him with his feet on the floor preaching, an incident he said revealed to him that TB Joshua was not from God.

"When you see anyone claiming to worship God who worships with his feet on the ground, he's an occultist. And TB Joshua is an occultist.

"Ask yourself how TB Joshua, who claims God called him, worships with his feet on the ground? Let me tell you if you go to any church and you see the leader worshiping with his feet on the ground, it's a sign of demonism; it's occultic. People like that follow spirits that are not of God. It is occultic."
According to him, God later revealed that TB Joshua was an occultist who did not draw his spiritual powers from God.

"Some time ago, I used to like TB Joshua. I was watching him on television, and the Lord opened my eyes. I saw him with horns on his head, and he had the face of a wolf. His tongue was that of a snake and he had blood smeared all over his mouth."

"Immediately, I rushed into my bedroom, and the Lord told me that he wasn't from Him, but was working under the authority of bad spirits," the pastor added. "That was when I realized TB Joshua was demonic and not of God."

The man who has himself been labeled a false prophet by some of his critics, advised Ghanaians not to be misled by signs of wonders and so-called men of God whose powers do not come from God.

He also accused TB Joshua in particular of sometimes faking miracles to win the confidence of his flock. "He can perform a clean miracle today and contaminate it with a lot of fake ones".

Joshua claimed his "own junior pastor went to his church to be healed. He was forced to sit in a wheel chair and made to claim before the cameras that he had received his healing even though he hadn't. He returned to the country and within two weeks, he passed away", Owusu-Bempah stated.

He again cautioned Ghanaians not to be in a hurry to attend the services of Prophet TB Joshua since he is the "anti-christ."

"If you are a pastor who worked under him and he gets to know you want to reveal his secrets, he kills you directly," Owusu-Bempah alleged.

"If no one is willing to say this, I will say it: TB Joshua is the anti-christ and an agent of the devil... I know of a pastor who attended his church, and when he should tell you about what he saw, your mouth would drop," he stated.
