The point is their numbers reduced drastically with Ronaldo but not with messi. Benzema was beast at Lyon and now beast since Cr7 left, same with Bale for Tottenham and Rooney too.

Mascherano was the tough tackler of the team without the ball, mostly when they are caught up with counter attack. If you understand tactical set up and have played football before you will be able to get what I am saying. Individually, they will not be rated in another team like the way chelsea fan don’t rate Jorginho.

On the field, barca played high line football then so Bousquet joined Xavi in possessing the ball, without the ball Mascherano act as the DM, mostly when they are caught on counter attack. Pique mostly helped to start the possession from back. Pique, Bousquet and Valdez were system player, ability wise, not that they were actually the best in their primary duty(I.e, Saves/goalkeeper, defending/defender and intercepting/defensive midfielder). All these were pep’s tactical set up.

If you can not do football basics in your primary role I don’t consider you a quality player, if you like stat pad with average teams. I repeat no top coach will pick Bruno ahead of Mount. Bruno lack in pressing, can’t protect the ball properly, weak and vulnerable with the ball, he also nag and his passes are mostly too heavy to connect, whereas Mount is opposite. VDB, Pogba and a solid DM with technicality is what ETH need to fly next season. VDB and the solid DM to protect Pogba’s defensive vulnerability so that he can focus on forward passes to attackers and also score goals.
