House, is changing location after being denied an outright denial in the new consulate? To be more precise, if a person was denied in lagos but couldn't get a date in lagos until way after the school's resumption date but got a date in Abuja that's before the school's resumption, is that a red flag? And what reason can be given to the consular for changing location? Is the fact that the lagos consulate didn't have available dates before the person's resumption unlike Abuja enough reason?

Imperiouxx, my bad. I thought I saw you say 'herself'. No wonder I was wondering how 'I' came into your discussion. I'm sorry about that. Let's leave grammatical errors and move forward. So far, we've had sad news on this thread this session. Let's look for ways to change that. Encourage each other and share ideas and knowledge like its always been. God will bless our efforts and grant us our heart desires.

Did you see me correct anybody's grammar? What's my business with that? Or have you seen me talk out of point here, harass anybody? Everybody on this thread is here for one thing- to get their visa. I'm not a grammar nazi. If I have inquiries as regards what I'm on the travel section for, I ask. Politely. I don't want trouble with anyone. Especially you, that's been a big help on this thread.
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 7:54am On Nov 04, 2011
Imperiouxx, want to tell me what that was for? Maybe you should expantiate cos your statement was a little too vague,

Thanks for the words of encouragement people. I'm not deterred cos I know I'm gonna get it. The denial actually strengthen my resolve and I'm doing all I can to get a date. December 14th is a little far for me. I was told I shouldn't have been honest, that I should have said I applied to 3 schools instead of 4 considering I got admission from just one school. Donno if that was the reason for my denial though I doubt that cos I've read through the pages of this thread and applying to 4 schools is quite normal. Anyway, I'm getting my visa the next time I go there. The US consulate can only hold my visa for so long. Thanks for the kind words people, If anybody knows how I can get a date this month, please let me know.

i'm sorry to start spring '12 on such a sad note but i was denied yesterday at the lagos consulate. it was brief and honestly, much easier than i thought but i was denied. the interview barely lasted for 2 minutes. lemme see if i can remember what was asked.

consular:why do you want to school in the US? told him. it was a pretty good response and i relaxed when i saw him nod his head and say excellent.

consular: how many schoold did you apply to? i named all 4.

consular: did you write any standardized tests? told him i wrote TOEFL and that SAT was waived for me and i had a letter from the school acknowledging that. i was reaching out to bring the document when he said there wasnt any need, that he believed me.

consular: he asked what school i attend presently and i told him. he asked for the name of the course i'm studying and i told him. he asked again and i repeated what i said. i guess he was waiting for me to panic cos i was really composed.

consular: do you have family in the US? i told him i no

consular: i can see you have a partial scholarship. who's paying for the rest? i told him my uncle

he spent some time typing. i was just looking at his fingers cos i was a little fascinated at how fast he was typing.those guys can type sha. lol. he typed, looked up at me and told me that he couldnt issue me a visa at this time as he didnt think i would come back.

i took my passport he returned to me and took some steps back, i shook my head, went back to him, tapped his window and asked if i could say anything and he said sure. i told him i didnt know how he could tell i have no plans of coming back after a few questions and me telling him i didnt have family in the states and without looking at my docs but that i was really a geniue student and he said he was sorry but that i could reapply though. i said thank you and left. nobody around beleived i was denied. the security guy that was around waited for me outside and told me to take it easy, that it happens and that the man had made up his mind not to give me the visa. he said cos of how young and whatever i looked, the guy just felt i'll go to the states, find my way to canada and jah. lol. i went to the next GT bank i saw and paid for another appointment. i didnt feel it until early this morning when i kept hearing the guy say he didn't think i was going to come back and that i wasn't qualified for a visa. that shit is traumatizing, people. pardon my language.

long story short, i just got an appointment for december 14th. donno if i can wait that long. what's worse is i still can't figure out why i was denied. if anybody can pinpoint what i said or didn't say, please feel free to point it out. i think the only thing i didn't do right was bring out my documents and thrust it at him. like, the letter waiving the SAT for me, my sponsor's statement and sponsorship letter when he asked who was sponsoring me and my letter from my prof stating i'm a student of the school and his department not to mention my student id card and other stuff. was i wrong in not supporting my answers with the document said answer required?

once again, i'm sorry i'm starting spring 2012 in s aour note. here's parying the next person going for his/her interview has good news for us,

Please, other folks should feel free to drop a word about my predicament o. I've seen two replies saying I can fill another ds-160 form and another saying its not possible. If anybody knows anything about this, please don't hesitate. Its really important. Don't just read and pass o, say something! Lol. Thanks
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 7:57pm On Oct 23, 2011
Does anyone know if I can fill a new ds-160? I would like to change an info I filled in the other one. I've booked my appointment already and my interview is soon. Will it have any adverse effect if I fill one now? Please, somebody should reply as its a little urgent. Thanks

Kay-dee, I did check the schools in texas and even Louisiana but I had to bone them for a couple of reasons cos I was a little undecided when I started. For one, I wanted nursing or something in biological science but settled for geology when I started my first year in geology in one of the federal universities around. I was smitten. That's the word. You're a geologist. You know what it is. I just figured I can make do with a school that's not in the oil states for now. I'm going for undergrad and if I'm not ‎ok with Minnesota, I can transfer or something. Truth be told,Minnesota's relatively cheap and they've got good deals for international students so, lol
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 2:10pm On Oct 08, 2011
The idea was to download the form, know what information I have to give, see if I have them and call my school if there's any info I don't have. My 1-20 is not here yet but I was able to get my SEVIS number from the school. I didn't think I would need the form to pay through western union, just to know what information the person paying the fee for me would need, that's all.
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 11:38am On Oct 08, 2011
Kay-dee, it turns out the link my supposed 'guru' friend sent me was wrong, I took time to do it on my own and I just need some basic info. If the rates goes down a bit, I'll make the payment on monday, Nobody's saying anything about cameroun o, lol. Yes, geology. Minnesota state uni,
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 12:51pm On Oct 07, 2011
House, paying my SEVIS is more work than I anticipated o, For starters, I was able to download the form just so I could know what to fill in and I found out I don't some of the answers, Like the exact date my program is starting and when its ending, that info is on the 1-20 I was going to use for fall but I'm not sure its a good idea for me to do the calculation myself. What if I'm wrong?? They want to know how much funds is from the school, school fund type, funds from other sources, I'm guessing that's my sponsor's? I don't have that yet! Primary major, secondary major, minor?? What's all that? I applied to study geology o. I can't randomly put in anything cos I wouldn't want it to bite me in the a.s.s tomorrow. Also, somebody's supposed to pay the fee for me, until I heard the exchange rate is 164, 160, coupled with the discovery I made this morning about the form, I think I'm gonna chill for now. I've sent my school an e-mail, hoping they can provide me with the answers I need and I'll probably call them soon to know what's what as regards that. Anybody paid SEVIS in Cameroun before? I did some search on google and it turns out they have LOTS of places where western union can be done. I'm in calabar and its not exactly far. What do you guys think? Sorry for the epistle, no paragraphs and all, I'm sending this with my phone. Thoughts? Feel free to help me out o. Thanks

Kay-dee, square65, thanks for your input. I called the school and had them send me the SEVIS number. Paying is what seems to be a little difficult but I'm still on it. I should be able to get it done tomorrow. I'll keep you guys posted and once again, thanks.

Hello house, its been a while and I'm glad to see you guys dishing out helpful information and making people's dreams a tad possible here. I deferred my admission and should be in the US for the spring session at least on the 3rd of January '12. My question is this, my 1-20 just left for Nigeria yesterday and it takes at least 4 weeks to get here, The school told me so and I know for sure when my package got here for fall session. The school's got an arrangement with a shipping body and it'll take 3-5 working days to get here. Should I fast track or will it be too late when it gets here October ending? Late enough to pay my sevis fee and get a date at the embassy? What do you guys think? Any useful input is welcome,

Herself, I would advice you to contact the school first and explain things to them. I actually got a waiver for the application fee because I'm on my school's Facebook page when I applied. I suggest you tell them you are not able to pay because of your location and see what they have to say. If that does not work out then you look for someone to pay it for you

thanks. sent a mail to them yesterday. got a reply that yesterday saying they got my mail and will get back to me. just wanted to know that my other options are, is all,

please share. thanks.

quick question house,
is 23,25k really expensive for an academic year?. is that the norm or can i get something cheaper and where?
still working the geology angle and texas but if anybody knows where i can offer geology and get quality education and prospects, please drop a line.
thanks.

first off,am grateful to everybody that's helped out. with advice, opinions, helpful sites and all. i really appreciate the help and thought. thanks a bunch.
the biological science angle is going ok but i've been getting brow raising tuiton fees for most of the schools and thats discouraging me. so,am thinking, maybe i should just focus my time and energy in to my school, (am a 1st year geology student in one of the federal universities), get good grades and eventually go for my masters. the stress of getting an ok school in yankee for fall is slowing taking its toll. cry,
would still appreciate whatever input you guys have o cos am still fairly undecided as it is, just thinking i need a break though my TOEFL exam is sometime this month, any advice will be welcome, to put a halt to it or to put in extra effort to get a grade 1 education at an exorbitant rate though despite it being really good,
thoughts and opinions are very much welcome, thanks.

have family in texas but don't want to be there, heard tennessee, oklahoma is relatively cheap, not really particular so long its not outrageously expensive,
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 8:13pm On Feb 26, 2011
thanks, arshy, biological science, will check that out, in the mean time, can you recommend any school(s) that i can do the biological science and make the switch without too much stress? thanks
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 8:09pm On Feb 26, 2011
anfanio,i can't write SAT, not if i intend to be in by fall, not with most of the school's deadlines, my mistake's not starting way before now, i realise that and am ready to apply for a different course and hopefully change when i get there,
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 7:53pm On Feb 26, 2011
superbrain,i haven't taken the SAT, won't be able to cos of time frame, if i was looking at spring, that would have been good but am not,so, was able to get some schools that require just toefl for international students but it's either the deadline's passed or i'll have to make two applications, one to the school and after or rather if i get admitted, another to the school of nursing, that requires time which i don't have.
i've registered for my toefl exam and am writing next month but the four slots i have to fill in my schools and their toefl code is blank, i really should hasten in my research and make quick decisions if i intend going in for fall,
the neuroscience thing might not be as easy as i thought, i just figured if it'll give me problems during the course of my application and at the embassy,it's best if i just bone it,
looking for computer/business related courses as i was advised here, can you help me with that?suggestions?schools?informative websites?, appreciate the time and effort it took you to send those schools and reply my questions,
  thanks.
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 1:27pm On Feb 26, 2011
superbrain, not yet, been on google the best part of this morning searching for schools and their requirements, um,if its going to be too much stress, guess i'll have to kill the idea, business/computer related courses that'll fly with the consulars, plesae, still plan to switch to nursing o,
thanks.

i get, thanks, i'm opting for economics cos i can do that.am science inclined so i don't have an extensive knowledge in accounting and maths, economics i can deal with, what other courses can u recommend bearing in mind that i hope to transfer when i get there,
everybody should feel free to chip in.thanks
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by herself(f): 4:13pm On Feb 25, 2011
hope i'm not derailing this thread.please to those in the us and those that are up to par with the us school system, can somebody please tell me how easy it is to transfer?.
i'm looking at going for nursing but it's still proving difficult, that is,if i want in for fall so am thinking maybe i should apply for say economics and then switch after my first year, so,social science to health science.is it possible?how difficult will the switch and transfer be?
hoping to get answers soon, thanks in anticipation.
