However, confession is a thing of the mind with God. It isn't about just saying it out. What you confessed today could still repeat itself tomorrow if you don't involve God in it. That's why it's very important you confess to your God only and not any spouse, except child is involved. Human beings 90% of the time, are wired to forgive but never to forget. The remaining 10% is for the real believers. So, why confess to anyone? No matter how religous he or she may be, one day when an issue erupts, the sin of the past could be revisited out of anger. Why not confess it only to God and never go back there again? God isn't man. He doesn't act like we do. After confessing our sins, we must always pray to God to give us the grace to not go back to it again. He forgives and forgets when we confess. Some men/women had been caught in the web of adultery or funication, after they had confessed to their spouse and vowed never to do it again so, what's the need of confessing to man( human in this case) in the first place? God is the only one who has power over flesh and He'd help you overcome it and back your decision.

2 weeks ago I had a revelation about a man. He's a man of God, some of us call him pastor. I saw him in the web of adultery. It was hard to believe. He was being brought down by it. Then, I forgot to tell him. Last week, that thing flashed in my memory and I quickly contacted him and told him about it. He confessed it was true, that just a week earlier, a woman almost brought him down and she had to resist her...and she's never rested. In February, something similsr happened. He almost fell but God upheld him. He was shocked when I told him. He was so grateful. He said he'd keep praying and be more careful now.

Yes if a child is involved already. But, it should be done consulting God in prayer and fasting first. Because, it only takes God for human to forgive such huge sin.
But, if child is not involved, just pray to God for forgiveness and let the matter slide.
