IGNORANCE OR HYPOCRISY OR BOTH Yesterday (17th June, 2016) a colleague came to my office and said, "Ganiyu, I saw you one day on TV at that place where you dey knack your head for ground." He was derisively referring to seeing me (on TV) while I was praying in a Muslim congregation. He was about stepping out, so I called him back and politely asked him how much he knew about Jesus Christ, may peace and blessing be upon him. He replied that he didn't mean to offend. I told him that Jesus Christ did exactly what he saw me do in Muslim prayer. I cited the Bible (Mathew 26:39) to confirm my point. I told him there is no single instance in all the four Gospels where Christ worships God or prays to God by singing or praise singing or dancing or revelling as we witness today in many Christian worship services. Jesus never does such things in worship or prayer. Without doubt, there is clearly a soul-touching message in that for the true followers of Christ. Make Christ your role model; follow Christ's way. Curiously, a lot of other things that Muslims practise in their worship and daily life are prophetic, e.g. from Abraham to Moses to Jesus and to Muhammad (all names revered, may peace be on them). They are all sent by the same God Almighty Creator to guide humans to Godliness. They all prohibit alcohol, usury, eating of pork, giving false testimony, backbiting, etc; and they all preach sincere faith in one Almighty heavenly God Creator and Sustainer of existence. They all preach modesty, truthfulness, neighbourliness, charity, and other moral values. In Nigerian society today, it is ironic that a female Muslim, for instance, is criticised and denied the wearing of hijab (head covering) by religious individuals and groups who adore Virgin Mary (peace be on her) with hijab on her head. That, in the least term, is hypocrisy; and it is unChristlike. A lot of Christians who admire seeing bearded images of Jesus Christ and his disciples (peace be upon them) and tolerate the growing of a beard by Jewish/Christian men (including Jewish/Christian clerics and scholars) will hypocritically detest Muslim men (including Muslim clerics and scholars) for growing a beard! Back to the encounter with my colleague in the office, after citing the Biblical verse in support of Christ's prayer to God Almighty by bowing and going down on his face at Gethsemane before he was taken to Golgotha, I asked my colleague if by any chance he could describe the Christ's prayer as "knacking the head on the ground" similar to the way he had described it for Muslim prayer. He was dumbfounded and ashamed. Then he apologised to me and we shook hands in friendship. I encourage people to kindly equip themselves with truthfulness and knowledge about anything concerning Islam before they dislike or deride it. Knowledge is key to tolerance; truthfulness is key to love. You cannot tolerate what you lack knowledge of, and you cannot love what you are untruthful about. Imagine that you were told, right from childhood, that your own shadow was a threat to your life and that you should avoid it. If you gullibly believed the falsehood, you would hate your shadow till the end of your life. But if you take time to observe your shadow and discover that it is harmless, then you will find it the best of friends you ever have. That is exactly the case with Islam in today's world. Think deeply about it. By Ganiyu Muhammed Adekunle aganiyu43@gmail.com |
My attention has just been drawn to a case conducted by Aare Afe Babalola SAN on behalf of the FGN as far back as 2004. It arose from an increase in the price of petrol and a subsequent threat by Oshiomole & NLC to embark on a strike action. The Federal High Court (Coram Ukeje CJ) found as follows: 1. NLC is a union, 2. Unions can only strike in furtherance of labour/trade union activities, 3. Petroleum pricing is governed by the PPPRA pursuant to the PPPRA Act, 4. It is clear from the PPPRA Act that petroleum pricing policy and mechanisms are not labour/trade disputes, 5. The word 'strike' as defined under the Trade Dispute Act contemplates an action done in agitation for improved terms of employment and conditions at the work place NOT an agitation for a change in the price of a commodity. 6. The NLC therefore had no legal right to embark on a strike over petroleum pricing. Please see Oshiomole v FGN no. 1 reported in NWLR (part 907) and Oshiomole v FGN no. 2 reported in NWLR (part 1035) for the decisions of the Court of Appeal affirming Ukeje CJ's decision. The matter is still pending at the Supreme Court. |
OP it's clear you have shallow knowledge about legal or court process. If you'll take correction, I am pleased to inform you that CCT can't revisit TINUBU's case since it already acquitted him. For more knowledge ask lawyers around u. |
@OP as you rightly said, it's wrong to say that Court marriage is the only valid and recognised marriage in Nigeria. As those others mentioned by you are also well established, valid and legally recognised. The difference however lies in the legality or otherwise of the polygamy under each form of those mentioned marriage institutions. Purposely, many ladies prefer court marriage to any other form of marriages because of its strictness about non-recognition of polygamy. Aside that, there is no other significant difference. So it's misleading and very wrong to conclude that anyone who didn't conduct Court marriage has not wedded. In the eyes of our Laws, all above mentioned institutions are valid and legally recognised. |
Can someone pls show me where the said Emir said the title of this thread. All I can see here is twisting Emir's good advice to suit writer's motive. |
Habakus:Can't u people reason with u senses. Buhari went to America with more than four governors and he didn't christianise Nigeria then. It's now that he went to Saudi with governors that he wants to Islamise Nigeria. |
Luciferlove:You mean PDP can't exist without those alleged looters. What a shame |
harmless011:... and is it nt a big shame to think that without Metuh and his yam eater colleagues PDP will die? |
@OP your GF text this to your sister : "If you don't want me to marry you brother, I will leave your brother for you and marry someone else". And you still don't wake up from you lust you called love. Let me tell u a bitter truth, having stayed in the same hostel before your GF and your sister know each other more than you think, if not, ur GF would never succumb to ur sister's threat just like that. Pls have you sat your sister down and discuss with her at lenght. If NO, you have to do that. Listen to her objectively and apply wisdom in judging her. Finally, what makes a good and happy home is beyond just LOVE. Now is the time you can avoid future 'had I knw' |

The senate had on November 11, 2015 raised alarm over the alleged payment of N25b to one e-collection firm, REMITA, in one day as one percent of monies transferred to Treasury Single Account (TSA). I read the senate President's response to this particular issue of fund transfer between the REMITA and TSA but I deem it fit to define these two terms for better understanding. »»REMITA; this is an e-payments and e-collections on a single multi-bank platform. It is a technology platform deployed by the Federal Govt to support the collection and remmitance of all government revenues to a consolidated account domiliced with the CBN. »»TSA; is a public accounting system under which all government revenues, receipts & payments are collected into one single account, usually maintained by the country's CBN and all payments are done through this account as well. Having known the meaning of these two words, I think what should come to our minds is how they (TSA & REMITA) will work along with the promised change by the government in power to fight corruption to the end. Though section 80(1) of the 1999 constitution as amended states " All revenues or other moneys raised or received by the Federation shall be paid into and form one consolidated Revenue Fund of the federation". The successful governments have continued to operate multiple accounts for the collection & spending of government revenue in flagrant disregard to the provision of what the constitution required. So, if this directives by the PMB, that all government revenues should be remitted to a Treasury Single Account, it mean his decision is in compliance with the constitution and also in consonance with the party's agenda. Nigeria's senate President, Bukola Saraki said and I quote " no amount of blackmail or intimidation will stop the assembly from investigating the alleged N25b TSA fraud" Though; it was one of his errand boys, Dino melaye (APC-kogi west) that raised the alarm. What came to my mind immediately I read Bukola Saraki's stand on this matter is the role, which Kwara State Harmony holdings(a consultant company) plays in our dear state. There are more than 20 state-owned companies in kwara state. Our government said these companies are just like drain pipes on the state scarce resrources rather than being sources of income to the state. In view of this; the gladiator (Saraki) under the tutilege of his class rep (mai-guard) engaged the services of consultant to conduct due diligence review of the state business entities. This review revealed unprecedented levels of rot across most of the companies and this led to the incorporation of Kwara Harmony Holding. Here comes my questions to Bukola Saraki and his apologists. Is there any different between Harmony holdings and TSA? Does it mean the consultants didn't collect any amount for their services? Does kwara State ever reveal to the public how much harmony holdings is making from the state treasury? Who are the people that are intimidating Saraki and Melaye not to blow their trumpet? Harmony Holdings was established, responsible and accountable to who? Does it mean the Senators are not aware of the existence of REMITA because the way they para-phrase it (25b to one e-collection)? Are they aware to their terms & conditions of service, including the fees accrued to it? The best word to describe Saraki's stand on this matter is" Hypocrite". In fact, it is an hypocrisy of the highest order. He collaborated with PDP to become Senate President and sanctioned some of his supporters for doing the same thing at the state level. Where are Gani Cook and others that were alleged of anti-party in the state? TSA was introduced to help most, if not all the leakages that have been the bane of the growth of the economy. It is a critical step towards curbing corruption in public finance which is in line with the commitment of the current administration. So, if Bokola, Melaye & their likes in the hallow chamber could upturned (1% of N25b to TSA; whereas, the 1% supposed to be for REMITA and other stakeholders) the TSA's operation, in order to give it bad name; it shows they are the cog in the wheel of the country's progress. "IKU TOPA ELEDIYE KOGBO TUN PA ELEWURE"~~Bukola Saraki doesn't want to experience what he's doing to us in the state. We are watching with keen interest as the film unfolds. God bless Kwara & FRN. God bless you all |
Mr Metuh you better focus on rebranding PDP if you want to exist beyond 2019 & stop this unproductive blackmail |
