This is the stereotype that I still can't understand.

The only reason Igbos got to where they are today is because they helped each other.

When one succeeds in business, they grab another and train them. That is love.

When igbos go to any country, they group together and form development and social unions. That is love.

When individuals succeeds, they build projects for communities in their villages. That is love.

They pay for multiple relatives school fee when they can afford. I have seen so many igbos do this. Including me.

On so many things, yet the stereotype persists. If igbos didn't love each other, they will still be poverty stricken after the civil war.

Though they lost everything, they are still on average living better than rest of Nigerians who fought against them.
Pray that the comments of your enemies bring the best out of you

Onatisi, why is the FG begging the Professor to head a peace process.

I thought Osibanjo's trap worked

You see why I look down on you when it comes to Biafran issue.

16 Nigerian officials will soon be declared War Criminals at ICC/US courts. That is why they want to make peace that will never be given to them.

In the end, Biafrans outsmarted Buhari's best brain(Osibanjo).

Another cheap propaganda from APC.

External reserve does not mean anything.

(1) The monies in the foreign reserve include the ones from depts(BONDS AND TREASURY BILLS) that are foreign currency denominated.

(2) The foreign currency remittances from Nigerians abroad.

(3)The difference between the oil benchmark and the oil price.

If the country is that 'rich' why not fund the budget from the Foreign Reserve?

Foreign reserve means nothing,A BETTER INDICATOR IS THE DEBT TO INCOME RATIO,I DARE APC TO RELEASE THE DEBT TO INCOME RATIO OF NIGERIA.

It is Debt and not Dept.

this is an internal matter of national security and as you can see even the mention of kanu name or stories is only on nairaland and very very few social media outlets , the fg played their cards very well and kanu fell flat for it .
the trick is simple , with no kanu talking or been seen ,the issue of ipob will die a natural death . by june this year ppl will be busy with many things and by december even the ibos themselves will be occupied with 2019 elections
Internal matter that is before ICC/US courts.

the truth is kanu walked into the fg trap set for him by osinbajo , he should never have accepted that bail conditions ,there is a good reason why people like mandela and abiola didnt accept similar bail conditions offered to them during their own time in prison .
secondly ,when he even got out he threw caution in the wind and openly flouted his bail conditions , this the fg knew before hand that he will do. he surrounded himself with enemies he thought were friends and he thought if anything happened to him ,that Nigeria willl explode or there will be chaos , unfortunately he was wrong . all the average nigerian man wants now is peace and progress , noone seems interested in rioting and causing bloody unrest all over . now the elections he resisted and told ppl not to participate in , came and ppl participated fully in it .
NIGERIA IS GREATER THAN ANY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL
Why do you guys keep fooling yourselves that Kanu got it wrong.

It is FG that fell into Kanu's trap and not the other way.

Explain to Nigerians why 16 Nigerian officials are before international & US courts.?

Explain to the house why ICC came down to investigate what transpired during Python Dance.?

PoliticsRe: Pause The Ignorance For A Minute And Tell Me What IGR Is.. by HiddenShadow: 3:05am On Apr 08, 2018
Ofodirinwa:
Youre post has too many inaccuracies to address but ill pick a few.

1. Im not anti-tax, im anti tax = development
2. In the US the government provides roads, schools, mail service, and facilities for governance. In Nigeria government is in real estate, builds religious centers, schools, universities, pays for pilgrimages, builds factories, builds hotels, builds farms, mines, is trying to build ranches, provides power, builds roads, builds amusement parks, builds conference centers. I can go on.

So the task of actual governance gets 5% of governments attention. All of this a result of not knowing what governing means.

So then Lagos taxes home owners to support this madness, and someone will clap because of IGR. Instead of pulling more money and more duties away from the private sector, why not learn to privatize all of the things youre wasting the current budget on?

As long states are building amusement parks and hotels i wont be happy to see them getting more money. If your uncle spends all if his money on alcohol and girls you think giving him more money will help his children?

Our government does know what governing is, and now we're all condemned by thw ignorance. We're witnessing the beginning of not know what development is and were applauding. In 25 years when you're being taxed at a rate of 25% by governments with furniture allowances that build churches and mosques you'll understand what im telling you

00
I pity them when Odua Republic is set up and run based on high taxation.
PoliticsRe: Pause The Ignorance For A Minute And Tell Me What IGR Is.. by HiddenShadow: 3:01am On Apr 08, 2018
Ofodirinwa:
Two things

1. Must every project be a public project? Nigeria has left both real estate and policing in the hands of the government. If you had a populace that built it's own estates when the money is available, what would shrinking the money supply through taxation do?

2. Some rich countries pay high taxes (Sweden) some pay low (The US). Will you confidently tell me that the US isn't in good hands?

I'm trying to teach you something that has been been understood by anyone that has gone to a non-colonial school and you're telling me it's ignorance. In the US there are two parties. One that's pro tax/government project (democrat) one that's anti tax/pro private project (republican). Both of them govern well and function with their ideologys

but note, the pro tax parties doesn't even brag about collecting more and more taxes the way ideology poor nigerian 'intellectuals' and 'governors' do
Yorubas can never learn accurately when it comes to finance/economics.

Balyz:
Not hate speech but 100% accurate fact. Igbos are not only known for drugs in northern Nigeria alone, but the entire globe. They have the distinction of being the globally recognized, undisputed champions of the illegal drug trade. Malaysia, Indonesia, China just name it na dem
Why then do you want to keep sharing the same country with them whenever they ask for Biafra.?

Are you also benefiting from the drug business in the form of high IGR.?
PoliticsRe: Pause The Ignorance For A Minute And Tell Me What IGR Is.. by HiddenShadow: 7:14am On Apr 05, 2018
Ofodirinwa:
IGR is context.

A state raising it's own revenue is a sign that it's working to be independent of the federal allocation. This is a pitiful thing to celebrate but I do concede that the effort is at least a step in the right direction. But it's a single step, and the remaining steps look different. Not that we will perpetually clap at every new tax the government throws in the mix.

When Lagos posts this years IGR, we will all say that Lagos is doing well. Reasonable, Lagos has and probably will always outperform every portion of west africa as far as commerce in the capacity to generate revenue. But do. not. forget. That increase is coming from a tax on every single landowner in the state. So today we're angry that there's a tax levied on all landowners that's both high and unreasonable. Tomorrow we'll clap at the 'increased IGR'. In this cycle you'll see how the goldfish memory of the 'politically aware' Nigeria is key ingredient of the stew we're drowning it.

IGR is Internally Generated Revenue
If a state chooses to activate it's growth threw government projects (example, Akwa Ibom under Akpabio), an increase in IGR is a good thing to this end. The plus is the government can do more. The minus is the economy can do less. Businesses have less money to operate with, property owners earn less from their property, individuals see less money in their pocket. Tax does not create money, it move it from the hands of people into the hands of the government. This isn't all good, or all bad but it shouldn't be all celebration either.

If a state chooses to activate it's grow through private projects (example, Anambra under Obi), a decrease in IGR is a good thing to this end. This plus is the private sector can do more. The minus is the government can do less. Business have more money to operate with, property owners earn more, individuals see more money in their pocket.

So where Akwa Ibom build several new schools, higher IGR would be good to this end. Where Anambra privatized almost all of it's school, lower IGR would be good to this end. Taxation is a balancing game, not a march toward victory.

If you feel that businesses are dying, and there's no money on the ground, stop celebrating IGR online. If you feel that the government is cash strapped and needs more revenue, continue celebrating, but know what you're doing.
For years I have being warning Yorubas not to equate high IGR based on tax to development but their financial ignorance keeps deceiving them until lekki & land high levies reset their brains.

A wise government will aim at policies that enable people, businesses and investments to earn more and spend less so as to enable them survive outside the government.

PoliticsRe: How Buhari Destroyed Jonathan's Working Legacy - Youwin! by HiddenShadow:
Ratello:
BUHARI/APC DESTROYED ONE OF NIGERIA'S BEST PROGRAMMES IN AFRICA CALLED YOUWIN, INITIATED BY JONATHAN.

PDP under GEJ introduced the YouWiN scheme with the support of World Bank.

In 2012 total of 1,200 were given grant to either start a new business or boost existing business and employ more Nigerians.

Another 1,200 all female entrepreneurs were selected and given the grant in 2013.

Basking in the euphoria of the YouWiN success stories and the massive job creation, the number of awardees was increased to 1,500 in 2014.

But alas when Buhari and his APC took over power, they almost frustrated the 3rd set of YouWiN awardees completely as they had to stage protests upon protests before some of them could get their payment. Till today few of them are yet to get their remaining money and their businesses are suffering.

2015 and 2016 no YouWiN under APC. In 2017 APC changed YouWiN to YouWiN Connect. But the World Bank is no more supporting the scheme due to how APC mismanaged the 2014 YouWiN funds left by GEJ administration for APC to disburse to awardees.

The 2017 YouWiN Connect is no more to be grant but loan since World Bank is no more supporting.
*Imagine how much Nigeria has lost from World Bank since 2015.

*Imagine what 4,500 entrepreneurs getting between N1 million and N 10mililon (in grant, not loan) would have contributed to employment and the economy. This is the total number that would have received this YouWiN grant since 2015 if APC had not caused World Bank to opt out.

*Imagine the kind of government that can throw into trashcan, a programme adjudged one of the best in Africa the YouWiN!

TRULY SPEAKING BUHARI IS THE WORST MISTAKE NIGERIA EVER MADE.
YOUWIN remains a strong solution to unemployment because it is a scheme that gives birth to additional jobs unlike N-Power
