You are a wise man
uncleck:
Extremists will always be extremists, they don't have sense. They're everywhere in Nigeria. Getting into a fight you don't know anything about shows that you're not smart. Both Iranian government, US government, Russian government, Nigerian government and every single government you know are playing a very high profile political games that ordinary citizens do not understand and have no reason whatsoever to participate. These people who think they're fighting for Palestinians do not know what transpires between Palestinian government, their own government and the US government when they sit on round table.

Let's look at Russia and Ukraine. Both countries have lost so much blood and materials. In the end, their leaders will sit on a table, reconcile and shake hands. The people who survive the war will bear the brunt of lack, starvation and inflation while those who sanctioned the war will live in opulence. Both Ojukwu and Gowon lived life of opulence after millions of people lost their lives and properties...

The concept of patriotism is illusion. Any patriotism that is against humanity is evil. Humans should be patriotic only to humanity and not some artificial borders designed to serve the interest of the oligarchs.

It pains me to see people defending governments, regimes, countries, going to war... In the end you're just a seed in a ludo game while the rulers are the real players

If the Turkish government is against Israel's war against Palestine, they should mobilize their military and go support the Palestinians. Ordinary citizens should focus on their private lives. Now they'll enjoy watery beans till God knows when

A significant percentage of them.Remember it is not only immediate family members that pay ransome. Sometimes colleagues and distant relatives and even the general public contribute to meet the ransome demands. Show some empathy and humanity towards your fellow citizens and stop being callous
seunmsg:

So the 6.4 million people in Sokoto have paid ransom to kidnappers, right?
Politics / Re: Sokoto Community Paid ₦‎160 Billion Ransoms, Levies To Bandits – Group by higgs: 8:55am On Sep 02
The population of sokoto state is about 6.4 million. So the amount quoted gives a per capita ransome payment of about 25,000.The figure may be correct, considering that people have resorted to borrowing money and crowd funding to pay ransome and also considering the large number of kidnap cases. It is quite callous and insensitive to question their claims instead of holding government accountable.
seunmsg:
What’s the GDP of Sokoto state that less than 1% of the population will pay kidnappers N160Billion?

This was done by Obasanjo, unfortunately Yaradua listened to bad advice and reversed it.
Well,better late than never.
I hope it will be a transparent privatisation, not a case of nepotistic acquisition by people with connections to politicians.

Health / Re: Strike: FG Evokes ‘No Work, No Pay’ Policy Against Resident Doctors by higgs: 9:44am On Aug 30
People like You support anything the government does just because You need to earn your salary. The constitution makes it clear that the primary reason for the existence of government is to ensure the security of lives and property. Right now, this government is failing to do that.If we are reasonable as a people and not deeply divided along ethnic and religious lines, by now we should be asking the government to resign rather than questioning the action of doctors who are only trying to save the life of their colleague by forcing the government to do its job.God help us.
FreeStuffsNG:
It's a somewhat controversial strike action by the time FG allows such precedent and other professionals do same across board then government decides to sanction such group(s).

Just imagine that criminals kidnap a police officer and the whole police officers force go on strike. How does that help their case?

NARD could have adopted a more sensible and matured approach to drawing attention to the unfortunate situation of their member instead of going on a nationwide strike. Is it that they don't have elders in the profession to guide them ni?

Criminals kidnap their member in Plateau state and while security agencies are on it, they are demanding that patients need to die across the country.

When she is now freed, will they bring back the dead or do they now want the blood and curses of the dead to be upon her head and that of her generations ni?
Politics / Re: Fearless In October Protests - Punch Editorial by higgs: 8:22pm On Aug 29
The solution to this hardship is simple:
1.Reverse the floating of the naira.Peg the exchange rate to maybe N900/$
2.Do everything possible to increase oil production to 2 million bpd,so that there will be fx to defend the naira.

4.Assist Dangote to get his refinery working at full capacity as soon as possible.
5.Reduce unnecessary government spending, citizens will be more sympathetic to government if they see that government is more fiscally responsible.

Same FG that allows fuel to be sold 1k per litre? Same FG that keeps increasing customs import duty? Same FG in whose administration exchange rate is N1,615/$ ?

I have visited most of these states and I can attest that this is an unbiased, objective report. It is interesting to note that highly commercial states like Lagos,Anambra and Kano are among the dirtiest states.Trade/manufacturing puts a lot of pressure on the environment. Commercial cities also have very high population densities, hence, serious efforts must be made to keep such places clean using their IGRs which are also higher than other states.

Why does Nigeria need a national carrier when it is obvious that every venture owned and managed by government eventually fails? National shipping line,NNPC refineries, Nitel etc all met the same fate. What the government needs to do is to support the private airlines.

APC has been the greatest beneficiary of protests in Nigeria. Now they are doing their best to criminalise protests.Violence is wrong but the right to peaceful protests is sacrosanct and protected by the constitution.

That is why Japan is working while Nigeria is so dysfunctional. We have a moral problem in Nigeria. Forget all the religious houses,we have a real moral problem and all our economic and security problems arise from this moral failing.

Nigeria is unravelling before our eyes and we are busy fighting over ethnicity and religion. Let all Nigerians put aside our differences and come together to discuss how to save our lives and the lives of our children. No discussion, measure or line of action should be off the table at long as it is peaceful and will yield results.

Nnpc needs to be disbanded/unbundled urgently. They have become an embarrassment to every right thinking Nigerian. Regulation of the oil industry should be fully handled by NUPRC or whatever their name is.Oil revenues/taxes should be collected by CBN/FIRS.
Indigenous private energy firms like Heirs,Seplat,Oando etc should be encouraged to become bigger players and also build refineries to compete with Dangote.
