The cancellation of OBJ's privatisation of the refineries resulted in billions of US dollars being wasted and stolen over the years.God help us

But they are making solid products. I always take tech valuations with a pinch of salt.It is not unusual for a tech company to have a billion usd valuation one year and collapse the next year.

Use your intelligence, there are legitimate ways to earn money and live in a nice apartment, drive a good car etc while living in Nigeria. Many Nigerians are personally smarter than a lot of indians/Chinese. Our country is not where it should be due to bad government, not because individual Nigerians are not intelligent .

We are talking about a country where an average man on the street earns less than N80k a month.

Forget all the noise about remote work. 8/10 times, it's all less. Except of course you're a content creator, you need to be so, so, good in order to land a dollar paying remote role because you'll be up against Indians, Asians and people from other European countries. Also, your nationality is already a barrier against you. So how many Nigerians are that good in their crafts?

One way or the other, the system is structured to enable crime/fraud, reason why the government doesn't frown at it except a life is involved.

Some of you really need to go back to school. "Any means necessary" is not applicable to governance.A governor's powers are not unlimited. They must act within the constitution and subject to the laws of the land.

You don't fight "sit at home" with an even longer "sit at home".You can't fight illegality with illegality.What the governor has done is restraint of trade which is an offence under the law.Elected officials are expected to be law abiding, unfortunately, in Nigeria, that is not always the case.The governor has no right or power under the law to close private businesses because they did not open on a certain day and time.This is clearly an abuse of the powers of his office. The Nigerian federal government is a big,dysfunctional, corrupt mess.You have opaquely run government companies like NNPC.We have ministries for housing, works and everything under the sun and then you have all these useless development commissions. Yet the country still have poor infrastructure and high level insecurity after they claim to have spent humongous amounts of money every year.They have been stealing oil money and it is not enough, now the next big thing is taxes.

Nigeria has highly talented and innovative entrepreneurs. The challenge remains a large,dysfunctional and excessively corrupt public sector.

The constant ethnic/political fight fight on this platform has really reached ridiculous levels. You guys should breathe easy and try to enjoy this short life.The rest of the world is moving forward, we either join them or remain backwards while celebrating our tribesmen who are criminals and cursing others.

Any man who says he feels no affection for his own offspring is really not a nice person irrespective of his race.I recently read about a french actress (recently deceased) who wrote "I would have rather had a dog" while referring to the birth of her son in her autobiography. Unsurprisingly, the son sued her for emotional damage. So there are nasty people in every race and culture. While I agree that Nigeria is a low trust society, please note that even amongst Nigerian men who are polygamists, it is done openly and with the full knowledge (and consent?) of the first wife.

Who will enforce laws in Nigeria today when everyone authority is in the President's camp. People thought the capture of state was for the winning of elections only. Now they can see that it is also a tool for subverting laws. Now there is no limit to which one man can go to entrench his interests and rule the country in his own image no matter the consequences.

When an inserted clause gives extra judicial power to the state to seize property on account of taxes then this country has returned to a medieval state. It means the contentious talk about the state deducting taxes directly from accounts was no wolf cry.
