The Niger Delta Avengers whose attacks have caused a huge dip in Nigeria’s oil exports, forcing the economy into a big crisis, said last night that they were done with the hostilities.



The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) broke the news in a letter posted on its website by its spokesman, Mudoch Agbinibo, and addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari. It also spoke of the need for regular dialogue to take place for the Nigerian union to survive.

Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina welcomed the cessation of hostilities by the Avengers as “a good development which is in the interest of the country and especially the Niger Delta people.”

He said “anything that portends peace is always good,” adding that “we hope that it cuts across board and it is sincere.”

The Avengers alleged that the Federal Government was out to execute a predetermined genocide against the people of the Niger Delta through the recently launched Operation Crocodile Smile, which the military high command has explained as just a training drill designed to prepare the Amphibious Division for a better mastery of the Niger Delta terrain.

The group also observed that the Nigerian system would work better if the Federal Government learns from the developed democracies to allow internal protests and conflicts aimed at greater good of the nation.

“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to put away the garb of a stooge to the imperialists, whenever he speaks outside Nigeria. We have listened carefully and halted hostilities in the Niger Delta. We expect a genuine and positive attitude to restructuring and self-determination for every component unit of Nigeria. Dear president, what makes those countries (Japan, Germany, France, USA, Britain etc.) great is the ability of their governments to accommodate internal protestations and conflicts for the greater good of their nations over the years.

“Nigeria is not a one-man personal property. We must have these talks every time if this union must continue to work as one. The people of the Niger Delta have been living here from time immemorial, so we have the secret of the terrain and survival of amphibious operations.

“No amount of troop surge and simulation exercises will make you win the oil war; you can only win battles. You cannot apply the might of the state to restore the people’s confidence in your leadership when you cannot differentiate between genuine demands and being mismanaged by disorganised characters and tribal lords around you in your government that are playing the court jesters’ role as well as counting the days that is left in your four years term.

“You can deceive the whole world but we cannot be deceived by the so glamorized ongoing military operations in the creeks of Ijaw communities in the Delta coded “ Operation Crocodile Smiles”… the world should knows that with your pronouncement in Kenya and your attitude to the military build-up in the Niger Delta, it is crystal clear that the military has nothing less than a pre-determined genocide in Niger Delta and burn more already scared national resources to the pockets of those that have failed to locate the missing Chibok School Girls.

“Please also tell those foreign nations that your troops are about carrying out extrajudicial killings in the Niger Delta in violation of Article Four of the Geneva Convention with “OPERATION CROCODILE SMILE”. All sane minds know the meaning of “ CROCRODILE TEARS” so by code-naming your military operation CROCODILE SMILES only betrays your motives and attitude to the whole world about the Niger Delta question.”

With an end to bombings, there is hope for increased oil and gas production, which will translate to more revenue for the Federation.

The militants in the last few months hit major pipelines including Shell’s Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL) and Forcados terminal, ExxonMobil and Agip’s facilities. These attacks led to shut-in of various crude grades from Nigeria.

At the peak of the attacks, production dropped to 1.4 million barrels per day (bpd) against a budgeted 2.2 million bpd. Production had risen to 1.9 bpd before the renewed attacks.

Breakaway IPOB faction to burn Biafra flag on October 1

The Rebranded Indigenous People of Biafra (TRIPOB), a breakaway group from the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by Nnamdi Kanu, has picked October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day, to publicly denounce Biafra Republic and burn its flag.

According to Chima ‘Phillip Effiong’ Osuji, who released a statement on behalf of the group on Wednesday, CHIMA “PHILLIP EFFIONG” OSUJI, the decision was taken on Monday at the end of an emergency meeting of “disaffected” IPOB members.



TRIPOB said it now sees the Biafra question “from a different perspective”, as Biafra will now become “a powerful metaphor for change, development and greatness of the Igbos inside a united Nigeria”.

It said it had “accepted the fact that the Biafra Republic is not a reality but an anachronism”, and doubts that the south-south region will ever become a part of a Biafra Republic, except by force after a declaration of another civil war.

THE FULL STATEMENT

At an emergency meeting convened by some disaffected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday, August 22, 2016 in Aba, Abia state, it was resolved that due to the rigid and fatalistic position of the Nnamdi Kanu led IPOB, several of us with like minds shall breakaway and form The Rebranded Indigenous People of Biafra or TRIPOB.

TRIPOB now sees the Biafra question from a different perspective. Biafra will now become to us a powerful metaphor for change, development and greatness of the Igbos inside a united Nigeria, where the South East axis will be a utopia from the sheer determination borne out of the Biafra metaphor.

We believe in being a part of a united Nigeria, and a new way of thinking, where the victim mentality will no longer be acceptable.

We have accepted the fact that the Biafra Republic is not a reality but an anachronism, and doubt that the South South region will become a part of a Biafra Republic, except by force; after a declaration of another civil war.

That the lessons and history of the civil war will only reinforce the belief in ourselves to reach the zenith in this great country, Nigeria, where opportunities abound for every one regardless of tribe or religion, and even where such narrow sentiments exists, we will not see ourselves as victims. Never!

In view of this new mindset, members of the TRIPOB and any new defectors will on October 1, 2016 make a public denunciation of a
Seccesionist Biafra Republic at the Eagle Square, Abuja. 

The event will also include recitation of the Pledge to Nigeria our Country, singing of the National anthem, followed by a solemn burning of the Biafra flag and unveiling a new Biafra flag representing pride, change, potential and spirit of the Igbo race which can thrive any where in the world.

But this time, it is coming from them, they announced it on their official website through the real spokesman, to show u they want negotiation this time. But Ipob cowards are angry, they know their only source of pride and chest beating will soon leave them, and Ipob will remain on their own, as irrelevant as ever, without any solution to their problem, because una problem no be Nigeria headache. The Niger Delta Avengers have pledged to lay down their weapons and resume talks with the Nigerian government after months of attacks on the country’s oil and gas infrastructure that have crippled the economy.

In a message posted on the group’s website late on Saturday, the NDA said it would “observe a cessation of hostilities” in the Niger delta and would support any effort to negotiate with “the federal government of Nigeria, representatives from the home countries of all multinational oil corporations and neutral international mediators.”

While so many PDP loyalist are blaming APC and President Buhari for their woos and failure to successfully organize the PDP National Convention, former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan has refused to tow their line of argument, instead Doyin Okupe blamed the party in totality for its problems and failures.

The failed PDP convention cannot and should not be blamed on our political adversaries. Rather the blame should rest squarely on the failure of internal conflict resolution machinery of the PDP, the surprising naivety and desperation of many to seize power and control the party,and  the gullibility of majority of the followership, who have become entrenched in the cesspool of pervasive impunity of our leadership over the years.

However it is commendable that the NEC threw sentiments aside and extended the tenure of the controversial caretaker commuter  by one year and allowed for future expansion of the membership of the committee.

The import of this is that the party has now officially jetissoned the “Microwave”strategy, hitherto, employed by the leadership,  and allowed for ample time to address all issues. By allowing for new inclusions into the members of the caretaker committee, the leadership obviously has made room for possible reasonable negotiation with the Senator Amodu Sheriff ‘s group,  which is inevitable and a political imperative, if the party must remain United.

Again, this is neither the time for victory songs  nor a season for political vendetta.  This is time for seeking lasting and honest peace, time to rebuild from current ashes of flames of the inferno, of political opportunism, greed,  selfishness and blatant brigandry and impunity.

There may just be another chance to do it again especially now that our adversaries are burning their political access card.

Akwa Ibom militants are the best brains militants. Government houses are the best place to Avenge. They governors squandered all our common wealth. They squandered the future. If anyone should avenge! that is the right place then the multi billion country homes of those ex governors.
