Politics › Re: Amaechi Orders Probe Of Maritime Academy Over N18bn Remittances by higherpower: 12:35pm On Nov 30, 2015 |
wachakuta: The minister of Transport, Mr Rotimi Amaechi has ordered a probe into the financial activities of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, Akwa Ibom State and N18 billion remittances to the institution by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in the last five years. The move to begin a full audit of the institution’s finances followed allegations of financial recklessness and large scale fraud levelled against the academy’s rector, Mr Joshua Okpo.
Ekpo was said to have stirred the hornet’s nest after series of accusations he levelled against NIMASA for starving the school of funds through the agency’s alleged flagrant refusal to release the statutory five per cent subvention funds to the school.
The minister was said to have summoned the management of NIMASA to his office and asked why it was sitting on the subvention of MAN, Oron.
However, the bubble burst when the minister was told by the acting director-general of NIMASA, Mr Haruna Jauro that the agency has remitted over N18 billion to the academy since 2009. At the enquiry of the minister, the MAN rector, Okpo, said he only took over in 2011 to which NIMASA declared that a sum of N13 billion was remitted to the institution since the rector took over.
Alarmed by the quantum of the funds, the minister was said to have become livid with Okpo whom he said has told him ‘lies’ about the true situation of the disbursements.
When asked to explain what he has done with that huge sum against the backdrop of lack of physical infrastructural development of the institution, Ekpo was said to have given inconsistent and incoherent answer.
The minister therefore ordered immediate audit of all the amounts said to have been remitted to the institution since 2009.

Fear of Amaechi read Nyesom Wike comment
IF MEN WERE GOD!
“Once INEC announces the victory of President Goodluck Jonathan, we will immediately shut down the Port Harcourt International Airport and all land and sea borders in Rivers State to prevent Rotimi Amaechi from escaping. We will arrest him” – Nyesom Wike, Feb 22, 2015.
When Nyesom Wike made the above arrogant comments, he felt he was god or a demi-god in Rivers state. Now, The Almighty in His Infinity Has turned the tables around, and put Amaechi in charge of air land and sea not only of Rivers state, but of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Now, the one who was to be prevented from travelling is in charge of air, land and sea in Nigeria.
Food for thought brethren. Here is a lesson: Do not blow your own trumpet. Do not exert power unnecessarily over others, especially the innocent. When in a position of power guard you mouth. Please feel free to share and add some more lessons learnt. |
Politics › Excuse Me From Your Conference, IBB Tells PDP. by higherpower(op): 7:52am On Nov 11, 2015 |
FORMER military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, yesterday dismissed insinuations that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was wooing him for 2019 presidential election as its candidate, saying that he has no such intention as he would clock 78 by 2019. Reacting to his appointment as Chairman of the proposed PDP National Conference slated for tomorrow, Babangida urged the PDP to count him out of the conference saying that he had quit partisan politics four years ago when he marked 70 years. He said he had friends in the PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC and playing the expected role would amount to partisanship. General Babangida, in a statement he personally signed and tagged PDP Rebranding Conference: Count me out, said: “I wish to make some clarifications concerning the invitation extended to me on the scheduled PDP rebranding conference slated for November 12, 2015, aimed at repositioning the party after its poor outing at the last elections. “While I welcome the invitation to the event as a mark of respect as one of the founding fathers, I want to be excused on the grounds that I have long bid bye to partisan politics. Four years ago, at an elaborate event at the Transcorp Hilton Hotels Abuja, I announced my retirement from partisan politics after my failed attempt to contest for president and having attained the gracious age of 70, in a society where life expectancy stands at a ridiculous 47 years. “In appreciating what Allah has done for me in life, seeing me through many challenges, stabilizing me during periods of tribulations, and safeguarding me through the thick and thin of political risks, I did state at that event that journalists would not push me around again. “Attaining the age of 70 in 2011 was to me a great accomplishment for which I remain eternally grateful to Almighty Allah and my family who have shown tremendous support and encouragement throughout my political trajectory. Since 2011 till date, I have been playing my role as an elder statesman and “consultant-in-chief” to political office seekers and other like-minds who want my input in their aspirations.” |

Politics › Full Text Of Sir Opunabo Inko-tariah’s Resignation As Governor Wike’s Media Aide by higherpower(op): 12:16pm On Nov 07, 2015 |
Sir, Let me start by thanking you for finding me worthy of serving you, and the state in my capacity as SPECIAL ADVISER on Media and Publicity, for this i shall remain grateful.
However, with the unfolding developments, it is irretrievable that my services are no longer needed, and to this end, subterfuges are employed to send the message across.
Sir permit me to dredge up the facts that plank my conviction on.
For the first two Months i worked with you, not a kobo was given to me as Impress/Overload. Apart from paid advertorials and when you briefed the press, every other publications were done at my own cost. Infact, in most cases, announcements made at your behest were paid for by me or done pro- bono.
In the third month, you approved the sum #5,000,000.OO(Five Million Naira) as monthly impress. This was obviously grossly inadequate compared to the pecuniary monthly obligations of my office that gulped #4,800,000,00(Four Million eight hundred thousand). These are obligations inherited from the Rotimi Amaechi’s government. Attached are how the payments are made to bolster my assertions.
With this, i am left with #200,000.00(Two Hundred Thousand Naira) to manage the press for one month. There are times when journalist who cover occasions in government house leave without a kobo.
It is pertinent to also state for the records that no time did i threaten to arrest journalist with policemen. Even when i tried to explain, you rebuffed me.
Furtherance have written several memoranda to you on efficacious Publicity. All memoranda were returned to me untreated have also attached herewith such memoranda.
Sir, i resolved to work with you all my heart, but what i got in return is gratuitous derision.
On several occasions after i noticed your hostile attitude towards me, i approached you for clarification and resolutions but was denied any chance to speak, this prompted my fist resignation move, after which you called and cautioned and asked me to go back to work. Things got festered from them on.
I fell in the bathroom and sustained several head injuries, with the plaster on my head,i met you in the office to explain things to you. All you said was that i should go and treat myself. This was about two months ago, sadly you have never asked me about the injuries.
On Thursday October 22nd 2015,i had a close shave with death on my way from Buguma as assassins riddled “my car”. I sent you a text on the development, but up till now you have never called me to ask questions.
You got back from Abuja on Saturday, after the Tribunal verdict only to spleen on me. Although one may understand that given the Tribunal verdict, you showed no concern at all after the day of your broadcast. On the Sunday, you had solidarity church service, i was with you in the morning for the broadcast, on my way to the church service felt dizzy and went home. Shortly after i started vomiting blood. Emeka Woke(COS) and the SSA on protocol were informed and they rushed to my House. I was reliably informed that you were briefed by Engr.Emeka Woke but did not bother to know if i was okay or not. This is bloodcurdling. My life means nothing to you,i sent a memo to you for imprimatur to travel to the United States for medical attention, without asking for money. That memo has been on your desk for about three weeks.
Sir, the climax of your disdain for me was the rebuttal in which you dissociated yourself from an innocuous statement made concerning the judiciary and the verdict.
When you called me on Wednesday to express your disapproval apologized profusely on the phone with a promise that it shall not repeat itself. You asked if i was actually with your or not, and i said I was. This sincere assurance could not placate you because of your mindset. Thank God the likes of O.C.J Okocha, SAN saw nothing wrong in my statement. The rebuttal was a good opportunity for you to ridicule me in public and show disapproval of my still working with you. Your rebuttal obviate the need for further evidence of your absolute loss of confidence in me. This i failed to discern when you ordered that i must not be a member of the ONE HUNDRED DAYS IN OFFICE COMMITEE and INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION COMMITEE. Initially, you claimed the publicity on you was poor and when it improved, you said i was only popularizing myself, you saw nothing good in anything i did. You called me and cautioned me that you were always in the news. You further said that most of us will know our fate after the Tribunal.
On the white paper Press Briefing, it was suggested that I brief the press(and rightly too),but you spurred. The Issue is not my not briefing the press but the contempt. Your infectivity to my close shave with death awakened reminiscence of when you said i can go and Die with my father, when i coughed in your office. You worked me out of your office, saying “If i you want to die, go and die with your father “. interesting! This was after you queried why E.C AGUMA,SAN and I were close despite the fact that my dad, the late Hon. Justice Chief Opubo Inko-Tariah sentenced the late Chief E.AGUMA to Death in the Ndabros matter. It was even E.C Aguma,SAN who even corrected the impression because my late dad never found the Late Chief Aguma guilty and so never ever convicted him.
The issue of your controversial visit to the CJN is still green, you called me two weeks after(On the Day PUNCH Published it online) to ask what my reactions were and why queried why i was not proactive. Tersely, I said i never knew of the visit because you never told me although we were in Abuja together or else i would not have pro-acted. However told the Press the visit was to resolve the thorny issue of a substantive CJ for the state. Few days later, you said i told the Press i was not aware and I replied that I never did and that the statement was made to you alone. All I told the press was that your visit was to resolve the vexed issue of substantive CJ.I never knew your allegations was only a veneer.
As a Special Adviser, I have no befitting to accommodate my PAs and SAs yet i carried on.
Let me not bore you further with what I know you dismiss as prolixity.
I sincerely advise that you give penetrating thoughts to your leadership paradigm. The people around you are people ready to die for your sake. Do not dampen their spirits. They are but human beings. Experience is Pre-eminent where advice is ignored.
I conclude Sir, by once more thanking you for opportunity and wish you God’s guidance and blessings as i exit your government.
Thank you and God bless.
Your’s

Politics › Re: Saraki's Lawyers Vow To Report CCT Chairman To NJC. by higherpower: 9:49am On Nov 06, 2015 |
wengerjay: The legal team of the Senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki, has vowed to send a protest letter to the National Judicial Council (NJC) over the alleged biased conduct of the chair of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Mr. Danladi Umar, in the trial of their client who is facing charges of false assets declaration in Abuja.
Yesterday, three Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), Mr. Ahmed Raji, Alhaji Mahmoud Magagi and Saka Abimbola Isah, who led the legal team of the Senate president, all staged a walkout on the conduct tribunal chairman to protest alleged bias in the trial.
A source last night said that the legal team had resolved to report the tribal chairman to the NJC.
“You just wait and see the action we will take in the next few days. We cannot continue like this in this country. The judicial body has to intervene in this matter,” the source said.
The angry lawyers, accompanied by about 100 others, withdrew their services in the prosecution of Saraki by federal government, accusing the tribunal of open bias against the number three citizen and displaying judicial rascality in handling the case.
The anger of the lawyers arose when the tribunal chairman, Mr. Umar, ruled that he would not stay the trial in spite of Saraki’s pending appeal at the Supreme Court.
Magaji, who first withdrew his services in the trial, told the tribunal point-blank that going ahead with the prosecution amounted to daring and prejudicing the Supreme Court in the pending appeal case of the Senate president.
He told the chairman that, as a senior counsel in the bar and a minister in the temple of justice, he would not wish to be part of an illegality and an affront on the apex court.
Mr. Raji, who followed suit in withdrawing from the suit, told the tribunal chairman he was setting a bad precedent by sitting on the same issue at the same time with the Supreme Court.
Raji explained that apart from the law and practice, it was the tradition of respect that when the Supreme Court had been invited into a matter, the lower court will, as a matter of tradition, allow the apex court decide the matter first before taking over.
“In my capacity as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, I have not seen where this kind of conduct will be exhibited against the apex court of the country. The action of this Code of Conduct Tribunal is an affront on the constitution and to the Supreme Court and, from my own side, I will not wish to be part of this act.
“I find it most impossible to sit down here and participate in a proceeding whose legality is being challenged at the Supreme Court.”
Earlier, both Magaji and Raji had asked the tribunal to stay proceedings pending the time the Supreme Court will make pronouncement in Saraki’s appeal in which he is challenging the legality of his trial.
They cited several authorities to buttress their arguments on the need for the tribunal to grant adjournment.
But in a ruling, the chairman of the tribunal dismissed the application for adjournment and agreed with the prosecution counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) that trial should go ahead in spite of the appeal at the Supreme Court.
The tribunal chairman held that the action of the defence was a ploy to delay the trial, adding that the arguments canvassed by Saraki’s lawyers had been overtaken by the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015 which, he said, gave no room for delay in trial.
“It is an obvious fact that where a party wants to delay trial, the party normally rushes to the higher court, as in this case, but the intendment of the ACJA has taken care of such attitude where criminal trials are unjustly delayed. We will not allow that; we are going ahead with the trial,” he had ruled.
The tribunal, however, ran into trouble when no lawyer showed up to defend Saraki yesterday and he was then asked whether he would defend himself.
But the Senate president told the tribunal that he was trained in the medical line and not in law, and that it would be unfair to ask him to defend himself in a terrain he knew nothing about.
He pleaded for one month to enable him persuade his lawyers to come back or for him to look for alternatives but the tribunal insisted that one month was too long.
The case was subsequently adjourned till November 19 for trial.

The first thing you notice right away is how it adds “swag” to your personality, from its Champagne Gold colored body down to its Dolby digital sound. This phone is meant for the “big boys” as they say. Unlike its name, the new Phantom is definitely NOT an illusion; the specifications are real and very VERY impressive. I immediately fell in love with the 32GB internal storage, the 3GB RAM and the Octa Core Processor because, I don’t know about you but, I LOVE ME SOME PLENTY PLENTY APPS!!!
The 5.5” FULL HIGH DEFINITION touch screen is just out of this world. You will see colors you have never seen before (FYI this is not an exaggeration).
I played “KISSING” by Yemi Alade (I’m so obsessed with her) on the Phantom and OMG, what I heard was the true sound of music. I did experience the Boom J7 and I was amazed but this Phantom takes the cake. This is not something that can be explained with words, it is something that needs to be heard.
I mean, forget Kim Kardashian, I am the real selfie queen. When I noticed it had an 8MP front camera with flash, (OMG! WITH FLASH!!!) and a 13MP back camera, I decided to take a selfie, ok maybe 50 selfies.
The icing on the cake for me was the finger print identity sensor at the back of the phone. That is some high level security stuff. I know a lot of guys would be happy about this because there’s no way your girlfriend will look through your phone without chopping off your finger to unlock it. We pray it doesn’t get to that.
This phone is definitely something you would want to spend money on. Vanity upon Vanity! Bold 5 is now 18k |

TheImp: The senator representing Kaduna North Senatorial zone, Kaduna state, Senator Shehu Sani, at the weekend alleged that the new agitation for the sovereign state of Biafra was being sponsored by pro-Jonathan forces who lost the 2015 general elections.
According to him, their aim is to destroy the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari by igniting a national conflict , chaos and confusion in the country.
Sani, who spoke on Sunday when a youth group from southern Kaduna paid him a courtesy call in his office in Kaduna, described the renewed agitation for Biafra as misguided and ill conceived.
"The Biafra agitation is a new attempt to destroy the Mohammadu Buhari administration and to ignite a national conflict and cause chaos, pandemonium , confusion in the country.
"I see it as a plan B action of the pro-Jonathan forces who lost election in the 2015 national elections. I will also say that the agitation is not reflective of the generality of the interest of the Igbo people of the south-east," Sani said.
According to him, since after the Nigerian civil war which ended in 1970, the Igbos have made tremendous progress in business, entrepreneurship, academics, politics and very sphere of life, stressing that their future is better guaranteed and sustained within a united Nigeria. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/pro-jonathan-elements-behind-renewed-agitation-for-biafra-senator-sani/224458/ They have also produced 5 Senate Presidents, Min of almost all the ministries, captains of industries, IG, CAS etc under the same Nigeria. Freegift75: This is a true life story
My immediate siblings are twin brothers, same mother and father. November 5, they will mark their 39yrs of age. Taiwo and Kehinde happily married and lived comfortably.
Taiwo married a banker while Kehinde married University non-academic staff. They are both devoted christians and they both live in same town.
About a year ago, we lost Taiwo in a fatal accident and left a surviving wife as widow and three kids. Six months later, as their senior brother and the breadwinner of the whole family, I summoned Kehinde to re-marry Taiwo's wife to continue playing the role of husband.
Kehinde and Taiwo's wife agreed to marry each other but Kehinde's wife kicked against the union. Kehinde only has one child and since 8yrs now nothing more.
Kehinde's wife got provoked, lashed me with demeaning words and thereby reported me to our Church senior pastor at the headquarters and I was demoted for involving in sacrilegious belief.
It's a shock today again to have received a letter from the headquarters that I'm no more needed as pastor in their ministry due to this same issue.
This is a ministry that I had spent a lot towards its growth. The land our branch was built on was bought by me alone.
Now, what is my offence? Y didn't u marry her? |
