EdifiedCEO: At least three people were feared killed, this morning, by security operatives, as residents of Amassoma community, Bayelsa State, resumed their protest against the outcome of the reforms at the state-owned Niger-Delta University, NDU.
The protesters were reportedly angry that their names were removed from the university’s payroll for attaining the compulsory retirement age. .
They alleged that the state government was marginalising the people of Amassoma and denying them their only means of survival created by their late son and former Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha. .
They had shut down the school and vowed not to open it until the state government reversed its decision. However, the university’s gate was opened today, prompting another round of protest which led to the killing of at least three.

Mr2kul: There is currently a combact between indigenes of Amassoma (Niger Delta University host community) and cops. It all started when some non-academic staffs were dropped by the governor which resulted in a serious protest by the women and the youths last week. Report has it that the angry protesters shut the school gate thereby preventing movement in the school vicinity. On Friday, 18th May, it was reported that resolutions were reached at a meeting of NDU governing council, traditional rulers and stakeholders of the community. On one of the resolutions reached, it was said that the paramount rulers and the host community should ensure the reopening of the varsity gate shut by the protesters latest Saturday, 19th May but however, the gate was still locked as of Sunday, 20th May. Report has it that cops were deployed to the community in the early hours of Tuesday, 22nd May, which is today, they reopened the gate and surrounded the school vicinity. However, the angry youths of the community with war songs chased the cops and shut the gate again. Report has it that more cops has been deployed to the community and there have been a sporadic shoot out between the two parties. Make dem continue we the students are waiting. After those that don't have sense will go and die for nothing at the end of the day peace will still rein and the school will reopen then they'll know they fought an empty fight. When they should be fighting their kings (rulers) for sidelining them in their last meeting with the governor they are there fighting a police man with riffle in Nigeria. At your own risk. like I said, we the students are waiting |

11Ebisco: Linda Ikeji’s official public statement of her pregnancy
Did you guys read the title of this post? Should I write it again? Oh God, I can’t breath…lol. So let me say that again…I, Linda Ikeji, is going to be a mum. Somebody please pinch me! Gosh, I can’t get over it.
2018 started with me finding out I was pregnant. When I missed my period and my friend and I did a home pregnancy test and it read positive, my friend began to cry with happiness but I was just there staring at the stick like, you’re not messing with me, are you? This is real and not a joke on me, right? I refused to believe it and asked my friend to drive me to a lab for another test. And there it was confirmed, I was pregnant. Me, Linda, I am going to have my own child. Please don’t wake me up from this lovely dream..lol
So many women have had children, so what’s the big deal, huh? Lol. Well, you see me, I’m somewhat of a different case. There’s something about me that I have never talked about publicly before and that’s the fact that I love children so much (I took that from my dad), and I am particularly obsessed with babies, and I mean that literally. Their pureness, innocence, little beautiful faces, tiny hands and soft cheeks make me just want to be around them.
I grew up in a compound with a lot of neighbours and believe it or not, as a teenager/young woman, I was the unofficial resident babysitter. I swear, ask my siblings. I literally carried all the new born babies born in that compound at a period of time until they grew up to a certain age. Their mums used to come drop the babies at our house whenever they were tired or wanted to go out, this was, of course, to the annoyance of my family…lol.
The first baby I carried was a boy named Makoba (wonder where he is now, this was about 20 years ago, he will be a big boy now). From the first day I carried him, I didn’t want to let him go…so every time I had free time, and his mum hadn’t brought him to me, I would walk two floors up, knock on his family’s door and ask them if they wanted me to take the child off them for a while. I was always happy when they said yes. After him other mums started dropping their kids with me.
Back then my sisters and I used to take turns to cook every day of the week. So whenever it was my turn to cook and I was babysitting and they insisted I go cook, I’d tell my sisters to either hold the baby for me so I could go cook or they go cook. They always chose the latter. Lol.
Then my siblings started having children and I started to feel more joy. These were no longer neighbours’ or friends’ children, these were my nephews and nieces. My family! And carrying them brought me even more joy. Like for example, whenever I see my sister Laura’s son, Ryan, I shriek with happiness. He’s the love of my life…lol. If I was planning to go out and I heard my beautiful nephews and niece were coming over to the house, most times, I change plans and just stay home with them. I’m a homebody, I like to stay home (that’s why I bought a big house…lol).
So now imagine that in a few months, I will look down at a baby, and it won’t be a neighbor’s child, a friend’s child, a sister’s child, but my own child, my own flesh and blood, carried in my womb. My own son. It’s surreal. I can’t get over it.
You guys think DJ Khaled is obsessed with his son, Asahd? Wait until this one gets here. He’s not even here yet and I already ordered a Bentley Mulsanne for us. I swear! Lol. Like, I can’t keep calm. Oh and please, nannies, stay away from me. I’ve got this covered! Thank you. Lol.
Sometimes when I’m lying down and I feel him moving around inside me (he’s so hyper already, constantly moving around…lol), I just get up and cradle my tummy and smile. Lol. I can’t wait for these months to go by so I can meet him. My own son!
Dear son, of every dream I have had, every achievement, every milestone, out of all my accomplishments and titles, all the money and worldly possession I have, nothing compares to you. You are my greatest blessing, my gift from heaven, my greatest dream realized. I love you more than life itself and I can’t wait to meet you and give you so many kisses. And of course, spoil you! You will hear ‘I love you’ loud and clear so many times, you will beg me to stop. I can’t wait to hold you in my arms. .
I know I’m going to be the best mum ever! I was born for this and I am finally ready! And now I want to do more, achieve more, so lil man will be proud of his mama.
Considering how much I love children, sometimes I wonder why I didn’t have them earlier. But like my dad said, miracles like this finally happen when God is ready to share you.
Anyway, as you all know, I’ve always shared every milestone, every good thing that’s happened to me over the years with you guys and I definitely wanted to also share this joy with you. I’ve been wanting to scream about this since I found out many months ago but my family and friends have been telling me to ‘calm down Linda, calm down’…lol. I’m now way into my second trimester, so I guess it’s okay to share my joy.
May God grant you what you desire the most and may all your dreams come true.
Oh, by the way, I’ll be having a baby shower in a few weeks and I will definitely love for some of you amazing, loyal female readers to come celebrate with me. Will communicate when the time comes.
Plenty kisses and God bless
Linda Ikeji

360gistpilot: Nigerian singer Joshua Inieyzo better known by his stage name Solidstar has managed to have a career devoid of any form of controversy. Even though it’s a trend for Nigerian artists to exit their record label with so much fuzz and drama, that has not been the case for the Ajegunle breed singer. His exit from Achievas Music was quite smooth and quiet.
Solidstar revealed why he left Achievas Music and how he managed to keep it drama free.
“I don’t like too much attention; that was why I didn’t gather the media to say I wanted to leave Achievas Music. The record company was my extended family and I didn’t want drama. As a matter of fact, I did not feel excited I was leaving them, but I like to challenge myself. Having my own record company, Shaba Entertainment, is a new move for me and a great one”.
The dancehall singer told Sunday Scoop he understood his contract and what was expected of him.
“When I wanted to sign the contract, I knew what I was getting into and I was ready for it. I had to fulfil that promise and I had to respect the contract. I did all that the contract asked me to do and I left when I could leave. As an artiste, you should not sign a contract because you are in a rush to be a celebrity.”
He further reiterated that leaving his former label wasn’t going to be easy but he was however ready to take the bold step and launch out.
“The fear of failure has put many people in a place they should not be when there are better things ahead of them.”

Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte has warned his players ahead of his sides FA Cup final clash with Manchester United slated for May 19. Conte, who saw his side lose 3-0 to Newcastle United in Sunday’s final day Premier League clash at St James’ Park, warned his players that they cannot afford to deliver a repeat performance to Rafa Benitez’s men when they face the Red Devils this Saturday in the FA Cup final at Wembley. Goals from Dwight Gayle and a double from Ayoze Perez sealed a 3-0 win for Benitez’s side. Chelsea could hire Manchester United assistant boss Rui Faria as Antonio Conte’s successor, according to Don Balon. Jose Mourinho’s long-term No 2 has announced he will be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season and is looking to make the step up to management. Faria has been linked with the managerial job at Arsenal but, according to Don Balon, Chelsea are also interested
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho remains uncertain on whether striker Romelu Lukaku will be fit to take part in the Wembley showpiece.
Lukaku picked up a knock after colliding with Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday surprised attendees at the commissioning of a new EFCC building today in Abuja when he picked a wad of dollar notes and started counting them.
After inaugurating the building said to be worth N25 billion, President Muhammadu Buhari went on inspection. When he got to the exhibition stand, he was shown some recovered loot and the president held a wad of dollars to the amazement of many, including Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the commission.
PoliticsNGR has been furnished with a transcript of his speech at the event, read it below;
This is another milestone in our determined and collective fight against corruption.
2. Throughout my journey in national service and since 2015, I have made a very conscious decision to pursue a vigorous fight against corruption in public life.
3. Since 2015, we have made significant progress in the fight against corruption. Everyone now knows that corrupt officials will be held to account, no matter how long it takes.
4. We have recovered and are still recovering trillions of naira that were stolen in the past few years by people without conscience.
5. We are pursuing recoveries everywhere and are making sure that anyone who has been found culpable is made to answer for his or her crime under the law.
6. It is my hope and expectation that the judiciary, which is a critical stakeholder and partner in the war against corruption, would continue to collaborate with the Executive to bring corrupt people to book.
7. Permit me to also seize this opportunity to call on the Legislature which provides the legal framework for the anti-corruption war to add more verve to the determination of government to rid our nation of the brazen corruption witnessed in recent years, through reviewing archaic provisions in our laws and proactive passage of new legislation.
8. Ladies and gentlemen, an American author and philanthropist, Anthony Robbins once said: “The only impossible journey is the one you never begin." He was saying, in other words, that if you are determined, no obstacle will be big enough to stand in your way.
9. What I see here is not only a structure of concrete and metal, I see in this edifice, the resolve of Nigerians to fight corruption. But structures are not the whole story. We must CHANGE our ways of handling public trust. Corruption not only kills governments but destroys societies. It is the major reason why we are struggling with basic developmental issues that other comparable nations have long overcome.
10. War of corruption is not an easy one to fight, because it affects so many different branches of our lives, so much that some people do not even consider breaking trust is anymore a crime. It has become the norm. That is why we must fight this attitude and encourage Nigerians to CHANGE their attitudes and perspectives.
11. The goal of this Administration is to ensure the protection of public trust, and the anti-corruption war is at its centre. We never intended, and we are not engaged in witch-hunts, but we are determined within the laws to call people to account.
12. It is for this reason that we appeal to Nigerians to support regulatory agencies like Economic and Financial Crimes Commission because fighting corruption is everyone’s concern. I call on the Judiciary and the National Assembly to join hands in this national effort.
13. I am glad to note that quite a number of nations are signifying interest to help us tighten their laws and enter into agreements with Nigeria to repatriate not only stolen funds but to make the culprits face due process of law.
14. We are committed to working with our foreign friends to stop the inflow of stolen funds from Nigeria into their countries and recovering what is there already. These assets, when repatriated will be put to building our infrastructure.
15. It is my pleasure to perform the opening ceremony of the ‘’Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Headquarters’’.

CastedDude: It was earlier reported today how angry protesters took their agitation to another level after blocking all major roads leading to the Niger Delta University (NDU), Amassoma,Bayelsa State. The protesters - comprising the host community, the staff of the Niger Delta University, including cleaners and gardeners, have locked all offices and also blocked the main entrance to the institution...
Some aggrieved protestors went as far as stripping and being topless during the demonstration.
They are said to be protesting against the administration of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson over an alleged marginalization of the people of Amassoma, and that they want the whole world to know that the ongoing civil service reforms being carried out in the NDU by the state government is mainly targeted at the people of Amassoma Community.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige has said that contrary to the voting pattern in 2015 where Anambra voters favoured the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, with their votes, 2019 would see a clear departure from such practice.
Ngige said the 2019 presidential election would see Anambra people voting massively for President Muhammadu Buhari.
The minister, who was addressing the newly elected local government executives of the party at Ojoto, Idemili South local government area of the state, urged them to get down to work to ensure that Buhari garners over 70 per cent of votes cast in the state.
He expressed optimism that President Muhammadu Buhari will be re-elected in the 2019 general elections.
The minister, who hails from the area, said Buhari has done so well to merit re-election.
He said, “I stand before you today to say Mr President has done so well in all ramifications. He will be returned by Nigerians in 2019 in a landslide victory.”
Ngige said the APC would contest all elective positions in the general elections.
He hailed the party for what he called smooth and peaceful local government congresses held in the 21 LGAs of the state on Saturday.
He said contrary to what the “prophets of doom” had expected, the APC in the state had a hitch-free local government congresses.
Also speaking, National treasurer of the APC, Chief George Moghalu commended the party for the peaceful conduct of the LGA congresses in the state.
He said, “I’m very optimistic the same good conduct will be witnessed during the state congresses”.
