Hello everyone, is nice to be in this forum.Anyway, let me go straight to the point. I applied for US visa sometime in March this year without my family and I was refused visa. Though I went there with virgin passport without any travelling experience. During the interview, I told the VO that I have been to Benin without passport which I felt was not convincing enough. Now, I have little experience, I have been to Dubai and I intend travelling with my family to Ghana in August. I want to apply again in October with my family. What is my chances and what do you advice[/quote

"...Assuming that everything is in perfect working order at the border, you get a stamp. But not everything is always in perfect working order. That's why I said we weigh this against other facts. The information may even be discounted (it's not a negative, it just doesn't help). Maybe someone is telling the truth about it or maybe they are lying.

The reality is that travelling to Benin, Ghana, or even Togo will not compare to travelling to the UK, US, or some place like Australia in the eyes of the VO. Driving a few hours to the border isn't the same as flying halfway across the world to an entirely different culture"
LagosNIV.

@Petaocky,
Your personal, professional, and financial circumstances. Marriage, job, children, purpose of travel and family status...have these status changed considerably/significantly or have any changed? from the last time you applied? If sincerely "YES" then you can go ahead and re-apply. The decision is all yours to make.
No one can give you odds.
Regards.

]The sarcastic judgements given on this thread anytime people post their "sinful" acts to get an American visa is quite harsh. Yes, what they do is wrong by lying and they might think they are being 'smart' when conjuring the lies. However, the essence of this thread i believe is to help people know and get their visa the right way with the right intention/purpose. Therefore, it is unnecessary to talk down, insult anybody no matter how outrageously annoying their 'lies' and stories are, emphasis should be on the event/situation not the person. Their posts/experiences are valuable (just like the success posts) so people can learn from their errors.

@Divyne1,Thanks alot for the contribution/advice you said it all. There is absolutely no need for any sacastic response in the room and thats what I have been preaching.
Please, the moderator should ensure everyone is cautioned and rules are adhered to when giving advise/making comments to a post.

@Pwhitelaw, am glad you have realise the misstakes you made and that is the first point of restitution.
No need for you to be in a hurry to apply again. Give yourself enough time until you have a "very strong tiles"
When you are very much convinced your present status have drastically change, re-apply with ur family and fill the form yourself. input your correct details and that of your family and during your future interview answer trutfully.

At the moment, take your time and read the Nairaland US non-Immigrant thread both part1&2, pls read from 1....to the end make it a daily excercise.
At the end you will be glad you did.

Least I forget within this period try explore other countries for vacation/tourism/visit but,it MUST strictly be for the purpose (vacation/tourism/visit) and not to build unnecessary travel experience for the "hidden purpose" of US-Visa.

I wish you the very best in your future application.

Regards!!!

Happy Sunday Everyone.

@OmoBendel24, From experience I think Ds160 not matching the appointment confirmation most times occurs when applicant schedule appoinment before submiting the Ds160 form and I stand to be corrected.

"...Errors are made by humans and Errors are also corrected by humans"
It will shock you Visa officers also sometimes makes misstakes during visa interviews but, thats not for us to discuss here.

Lets us try and give visa applicants who have made any form of misstakes either consiously or unconsiously a "soft landing" and spank them with respect while telling them how it should be done. Information=POWER.

I have learnt so much since I joined this "US visa room" and I want to sincerely thank everyone who have continuosly made it active.
I give God all the Glory and Like we say in the house of God "we are all the instruments of God's handwork" so,
Nairaland is one of the instrument of successful Visa applicant.

My transcript coming soon....

Regards!!!

seyewest:
No need to pay any visa fee again just wait for the 2 days and the portal will be open for you to be able to reschedule.

@Obynocyse,
It happened to me too. From personal observation, I think its best US-Visa applicant fills the Ds-160 form first, take caution and copy the correct barcode which will be used to schedule for an interview.

Just like Seyewest said. Provided you have not exceeded your re-appointment scheduling. Fill a new Ds-160 and make sure you have the correct new barcode. Submit the form and wait for two days. The appointment portal will be opened for you, then u can re-schedule new appointment. Please,Make sure you change the old barcode on your appointment portal to the new one. With that you are good to go.

Wishing you the very best and all those who will be going for their interview this months.
We need more of "interview transcript"

Regards.

Now i wanted to apply for tourist visa B1/B2 . Is there any possibility that they can consider me for the visa this time ?

Please i need your assistance
I'm folding my arms waiting...wanna watch how LadyGuinivere, and Seyewest will crucify you first, before they now Bury you alive

@geojeo91,
What do u mean : "...crucify you first before they now bury You alive"
Is there no better ways to educate and correct someone who have done wrong. The deed is already done so why tear the person apart? I sincerely see no common sense in that. I don't want to believe u are among those who support the barbaric idea of setting someone ablaze who is cut stealing?

I think this forum is to enlighten everyone, make corrections and advice when necessary?

Have u taken time to see how V.O responds to complains and issues.
Please everyone giving advice or informations should do the needful.

Hi Everyone,
I just came across this post and the VO's reply.
My personal opinion is:
Lets always try give a true account each time we want to share our transcript either "Approved" or "Denied". To help everyone cause they also read Nairaland.

Visa Applicant:

Hello visa officer,i really commend your job in this forum.May God continue to protect you.I was at your abuja embassy on monday for a 9:30am appointment, here is the scenerio that unfold itself between your collegue(at cubicle cool and i
VO: Where is your form i94?
ME: Pardon? (at this time,he was yet to even receive my passport with the confirmation page,i was the one stretching them to him)
VO: Sorry, where is your authorization card,i mean, the card that allow you to work on the aircraft?(at this time,he's handling both my passport and confirmation page)
ME: It's not here with me(although,my ID card is hung on my neck)
VO: Busy typing........
VO: Your qualification?
ME: B.Eng in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
VO: Type a bit, then came up with green paper, sorry you visa cannot be approved this time.......
ME: Thanks!

The bashing i received from my boss when i got back to the office on monday concerning my visa denial is still all over me till now,and i can understand because,my company had paid all the necessary fees for the conference am going for including hotel reservation, that's why am here to ask questions. Pls,what does all i typed above gat to do with my interview?,Since i have my ID card visible with me,which am very sure he sees it,what is the important of my authorization card he's asking from me?, am i there at the embassy for a job interview? He did not bother to even open my ds form using the confirmation bar code before start asking irrelevant questions.Questions that has nothing to do with my mission of going to the USA.I never expected that from him because he's old enough to display such act,he was in cubicle 8 on monday.Pass this to him if you can. Thanks

VO's REPLY:

We're sorry that you had a bad experience, but the reality is that visa applicants often recall events much differently than they occurred (we know this because we read Nairaland transcripts). There is also a significant amount of information that one conveys without even speaking that is not included in your transcript. If you feel that you are truly qualified, then you can re-apply at any time.

That being said,it's unclear why you were travelling to the US, or even under which visa class you were applying under. Each class has a different requirement so make sure you review them carefully before your interview to ensure that you have all of the required paperwork.

Regards,
Abuja NIV Team.

Hi Everyone,
I came across this article- I guess it explains in details about US Law under Section 214(b) :

Section 214(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act
In 2013 and 2014, more than 3.1 million nonimmigrant visa applications were denied under Section 214(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. US law places the burden on nonimmigrant visa applicants (except for H-1B and L-1s) to show that they are not intending immigrants. Nonimmigrant visitor visa applicants (B) must show that they....
