The attention of the NWC has been drawn to the unnecessary and unfortunate reactions of Junior, Intermediate and Supervisory members of Staff under the auspices of PDP Staff Welfare Committee in reaction to NWC directive on Re-Organization and Re-Structuring of the Party. The NWC also notes the steps by the Management Committee in the matter.


The NWC appreciates the concerns of all stakeholders of the Party and assures all members that it will not be deterred in its sworn responsibility to reposition, re-organize and re-structure the Party.

For the purpose of clarity, the process of staff re-organization is a sub-component of the reform process in the Party. Consequently, the NWC further affirms that the internal memo emanating from the Office of the National Secretary stands.

The NWC will not be deterred, blackmailed or cowed from taking objective steps necessary for sound political health, astute opposition and general re-organization of the Party.

NWC also assures all members and indeed Nigerians that finances of the Party have been handled in line with standard financial regulations governing political parties and the Constitution of the PDP.

Subsequently, as custodians of the PDP Constitution, the NWC will be guided by the provisions of the Constitution in dealing with all matters related to staff especially schedule iv (staff rules) of the 2012 Constitution as amended.

i spent the whole day arguing this posit yesterday but it seems ever since this government assumed leadership the average IQ of our nation has dipped. The courts are not greater than the constitution. The DSS doesn't need to approach a court to commence an investigation. Remember they went to Dasuki's house with a warrant. Why did the judge/magistrate sign the warrant if the DSS didn't have jurisdiction?

The courts interpret the constitution and use of it. The DSS need to obey the dictates of the constitution according to the courts. A judge gave them a warrant according to his own intepretation of the constitution. This doesn't mean its the entire judicary's stance on it

When it borders state or national security, DSS is mandated to act. For instance, if someone gets robbed as a citizen or his office gets robbed, this is police business, but if the president's son gets robbed or let's say APC or PDP office gets robbed, this is high profile and DSS is mandated to act immediately, especially if there is reason to believe that this is connected to a larger scheme that affects or may affect national security. In the case of Dasuki, DSS believed he was part of a scheme to hamper the war against insurgency and destabilize national security etc, many of the issues raised by Barcanista are actually pointless to generate serious attention

Economic crimes of national security dimension is not discovery of foreign currencies and is not exactly the same as economic crimes as constituted to be against the law

No, the EFCC is not the only body charged with investigating financial crimes. Even the police has a fraud unit. By law, the DSS is empowered to investigate any crime that can compromise the internal security of the country.

The fraud unit of the police after discovering any financial impropriety would handover the case to the EFCC for forensic investigations because they are more equipped and are mandated by law to handle all financial crimes. Its the courts role to interpret what justifies as a crime against the security of the state but the role of the DSS to identify it.
