But now with the judgement going the other way, they have done a 360 and gone against the same judiciary they initially praised. The APC need to imbibe in their manifesto the spirit of sportsmanship and need to learn to accept defeat

This morning Sen Ayo Arise of the APC who was a former member of the banking reform committee , on channels TV also rebuted the allegation of debt defaulting made against him by Union bank which earned him a spot on the disclosed list. He also claimed he was just a member on the board of the company which was listed alongside his name.in fact he went a step further to insinuate that Union bank was in fact owning him money and not the other way round. Its probably due to the much speculated US dollar interest rates hike. The same thing also happened to the Kenyan shilling. But all in all the only way to improve the strength of our naira would be to ditch this minute by minute short term tactics and tighten our belt for a long term strategy that will encompass industrial policies aimed at improving and increasing infant industries so as to raise our productive capacity. Anything other than that will have our economy left to the wits of speculators and hedgers

I would have preferred an external impartial individual brought in to revamp and restructure the NNPC. In other countries when an institution fails to live up to its billing after a series of domestic executives, a foreign expatriate is brought in to bring fresh ideas into the organisation. For example the Malaysian flight disaster resulted in the employment of a foreign CEO. Even the almighty SONY back in the day after a series of poor turnovers had to hire the services of a former CEO of CBS, an American television company. Though the appointment of Mr Ibe is commendable but the better option would be to alter the act that created the NNPC so as to turn it into a private commercial enterprise which would lead to the employment of only those that are knowledgeable in the handling of corporate bodies. At the end of the day government has no business doing business.
