PoliticsRe: NYSC: FG To Make Youth Service Optional For Nigerian Graduates by hinwazaka: 7:38pm On Aug 05, 2015
If true, this is tantamount to nullity. But I must say that I concur with such a development. The NYSC although commendable when it originated has over the decades lost direction. As we all know it was intended to build ethnic relationships between all ethnic enclaves of the nation. But over the years unfortunately has become a boggy contraption against the students.
PoliticsRe: Tweet From Ben Bruce by hinwazaka: 5:34pm On Aug 05, 2015
He hit the nail on the head. Every time we hear the government has instituted a campaign to eradicate corruption, we sooner than expected notice the government is treating the characteristics and effects of corruption but sidestepping the causes of corruption. The most important aspect of proferring solutions is the definition of the problem. Without these then you wouldn't know what the problem dictates in its entirety. I am sorry to say this, but the current administration has once more made the same mistake and surely will arrive at the same outcome

Thank you for your correction. I must let you know there's nothing i look forward to than that but you cant help but respond in such manner sometimes, especially when you see someone defending an indictment of which everyone knows the expected result.

Its time for us to all always try and support what is good instead of defending the bad in the name of sentiments. when we form one voice against this so called politicians irrespective of our political, religious or ethnic affinity then these politicians, law enforcers and law interpreters would know what is expected of them from the masses.

On the other hand if we allow personal sentiments to becloud our judgement, these people will always find succor in the knowledge that some section of the masses will always blindly support their actions either legal or not.

PoliticsRe: Naira Sudden Crash: Barcanista Has Been Vindicated by hinwazaka: 2:22pm On Aug 05, 2015
Well the sudden crash doesn't really conclude the argument. Because we don't know what may come tomorrow. The fact is that the naira to the dollar ratio changes daily according to a host of factors and so is not left solely to the strength of the naira. But the argument that is binding is the fact that the exercise by the CBN is just a short term reactive measure to shore up the value of the naira in order to add some positivity to the current administration. The position that the exercise could have added some gain to the naira was pure lunacy due to the fact that the purchasing parity of the naira can only be improved by improving the productive capacity of our industries . in order to have a strong currency we have to have products that are marketable to the outside world. Any other attempt would only lead us to a situation of one day up, the next day down, period. We need to start thinking long term(strategy) and not short term( tactics)

There's no civil way to handle a criminal. In a sane clime, a criminal is as guilty as the person aiding and abetting the crime.
The men and women of the house are respected members of society. Till they are found wanting as dictated by a court of law, you should desist from tagging them as criminals. If we really expect a change in the handling of the state of our affairs we also have to change our attitude and relationship with them. The PHD syndrome has to stop so as to allow space for a pragmatic relationship with the ruling class. Only constructive criticism should be encouraged not character assassination and acts of calumny
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Begs Nigeria For Dialogue – CCC by hinwazaka: 1:45pm On Aug 05, 2015
This is a cleverly concocted trap with the sole aim of testing the new government's resolve.Any attempt to liaise with such faceless elements at the behest of their garrulous supporters will only meet with a ignominious end. The fact is that the Boko Haram sect is multifaceted and so you can not just place them into one group. Afterall what becomes of the cells in Chad, Niger and Cameroon when such a deal is brokered between the government and the supposed Boko Haram members. Will those splinter cells sheathe their swords as well

1. How can affairs of the NASS be reduced to "personal" matters? In-house affairs indeed!

2. OK. There will surely be a trial.

3. The fact that a forgery case has been established will make any other outcome other than nullifying Saraki's and Ekweremandu's election a mockery of justice.

Once the court pronounce their occupancy of their seats illegal, no need for any 2/3 to remove them.
1. Its a in-house affair because arguments and dialogue is the business of the day in such an establishment. And so therefore in order to have camaraderie among the members such issues should be discussed by only people within the house
2. Am glad you agree on the place of the courts in such matters
3. The fact that forgery and manipulation of documents has been established by the police is an additive to the case, not a conclusion of the case. The plaintiff would still have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the standing rules were in fact forged and also by WHOM.
If the courts fail to by every margin tie the forged documents to the senate leadership then am afraid you would have a split judgement which will pass the execution of the judgement to the house. This is where the two-third majority will come into place

The petitioners will have to prove whether or not it is illegal for the Senate Clerk to modify the Standing order in the absence of the Senate (as was the case).

Dialogue for a criminal case of forgery? Better keep quiet and don't embarrass yourself before the whole world.
Ethic /noun 1(ethics) (pl.) Moral principles that control or influence a person's behaviour: professional/ business / medical ethics . to draw up a code of ethics
2. (Sing.) A system of moral principles or rule of behaviour
This is used unofficially in every organisation. This should have been respected by those that submitted the petition. It guides and keeps all members on both sides of the divide in check. Diagolue would have been a more favourable tool in the place of the legal angle because it is more likely to produce results than squabbling. Just take a look at the Gbajamila affair, the moment he opened up the channels for dialogue, things started moving in his direction.

What Buhari's certificate forgery? That one Chukwudi or FFK or Olisa Metuh alleges someone forges a certificate makes it so? Use your brain boy!

The facts:
1. The police have established that there was a forgery of the Senate Standing Order

2. The Ministry of Justice will very likely affirm that it's a criminal offence and therefore prosecute those involved.

3. If that route does not lead to desired end, expect some senators armed with the police report to go to court.

Summary: Saraki and Ekweremandu are living on borrowed time.
The facts
1. This is a in-house affair and by ethics should be handled by the senators occupying the upper house
2. The attorney general will suggest that it is worth being tried at the courts and would then delegate it to a respected judge to try. He can not prosecute those involved without a fair trial. Remember this is a democracy and so people are innocent until proven guilty
3.The court handling the case will tender its judgement according to the arguments of the legal representatives of those involved, not just the report submitted by the police
Summary: The legitimacy of Saraki/Ekweremadu is left to the wombs of time and the perspective of a two-third majority which those that oppose their leadership do not have, period.

A revalidation exercise is not a sign of confusion. In any organisation after failing to achieve the objectives slated by the board, its only normal for the board to do a shake up and cut off the loses attached to them. You should familiarize yourself with process and workings of organisations

He is, that is why the foreign reserve rose and the CBN governor attested to the fact that Buhari activities led to it.
The increase in foreign reserves is primarily down to the huge drop in government expenditure and also the reduction in importation of goods deemed unnecessary to the state. Its not due to any corruption clean up or plugging of leakages as been said by the CBN. Its just the result of an unannounced contractionary monetary policy. The CBN governor is just showing his loyalty to the president

An umpire agency like INEC has to not only be fair but must appear to be fair. You say the fact that the issue of consanguinity in INEC in relation to one of the candidates is impervious to the elections. If the previous elections had been conducted by a third cousin of GEJ would you have put faith in the outcome. We should stop allowing or expressing double standards because the tables could turn at any moment and this action could be replicated by your opponents. INEC has to appear to be fair

We should give her a chance? But unfortunately her tenure expired 3weeks ago. So we should sidestep the constitution and forego procedures just to "give her a chance". This argument has a proposition, and it is she has to step aside for the credibility of INEC to be maintained

Get what i am saying before u rush like a surface run off, making hasty decisions in setting up a cabinet while not addressing root causes why corruption becomes endemic in each administration is not being strategic rather it is being myopic seeking eagerly to please rather than lead.
For starters, he is not tackling what brings about corruption but rather is tying himself down with the characteristics and effects of corruption. This is why I recommended a knowledge of development planning(ECO 417) . This course covers among other topics, the causes, characteristics, effects and solutions to corruption in a holistic manner
Secondly, he is in fact rushing by supposedly doing the job of a ministerial head before appointing the minister. This is like putting the cart before the horse. Have you ever heard of a board attempting to turn fortunes around before hiring a CEO whose job description already covers that. That's why there is a terminology called delegation of duties

They were screaming that the US trip was a waste, and celebrated the initial suspension of our request for arms. I'm glad PMB came down hard on Obama by accusing his govt of aiding BH by the refusal, that is something the docile ex-comedian-in-chief could never have achieved.
it was a futile expedition due to the huge cost of the trip which could have been avoided with just a phone call to ascertain which held more sway between the US Democrat executive and the Republican controlled Legislature. PMB came down hard you say, what a joke. He simply lost his cool when he realised that the democrats were dragging their feet and had been playing him all along. funny, you prefer futuristic whatever. What do you place the vision 2020 under, NEEDS, or the seven term agenda. So according to you they are short term tactics. Go and ask anyone who has offered Eco 417: Development planning as a course and they will enlighten you on the problems of planning in DEVELOPING economies. It was never a problem of planning but rather issues such as implementation of plans, poor communication of the plans and so on.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Investors Rattled By Buhari Economic Plan Delays - Financial Times, UK by hinwazaka: 9:48pm On Aug 04, 2015
People need to understand that the APC government under PMB intends to weaken the private sector and revert the economy back to its lopsided mixed system which was more on the side of a centrally planned economy(socialist). How else do they expect PMB to control the economy to bring about his ivory tower agenda. PMB has always stated that the country was perfect pre- democracy and that the PDP with its Laissez faire system crashed the economy. So such investors are better off looking for friendly markets that support free market policies than waiting for Adam Smith to be reborn.

This is false and a misunderstanding of the current situation. Mr Ibe was selected after a meeting involving the president and US republican congressman and chairman of the house committee on oversight and reform Mr Darrel Issa. The congressman put pressure on PMB by offering to mediate on his behalf on the leahy act issue which stands in the way of an arms agreement with the US. PMB was boxed in a corner and had no choice after the futile trip to the US to seek a arms agreement with the Democrat executive. This was caused by the incompetence of the President's aides and their inability to realise that Capitol hill is presently controlled by a republican majority . Mr Ibe was in no way PMB's choice and in a year or two this fact will be made clear by the GMD's actions
