The Bola Tinubu-led federal government has reportedly released a sum of N90 billion to subsidise the 2024 pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A source within the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) made the revelation, according to DailyTrust.
The source, who asked not to be named, noted that without this intervention, each of the intending pilgrims would have been requested to add at least N3.5 million to the initial fare which was pegged at N4.9 million.
A top official at the Presidency also confirmed that the federal government “actually provided some financial support for the hajj exercise”.
The NAHCON had fixed a fare of N4.9 million per pilgrim based on the exchange rate of N897 to a dollar.
The commission had quoted the sum of N4,899,000 for southern pilgrims; N4,699,000 for those from the North; while pilgrims from Yola and Maiduguri centres were asked to pay N4,679,000.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Fatima Usara, said the hajj commission had raised the fare by N1, 918,032.91, jacking up the total amount to N6.8 million.
The commission had also said intending pilgrims had up to Thursday, March 28, 2024, to make payment for the spiritual exercise.
The NAHCON had attributed the latest hike in hajj fare to the foreign exchange crisis which Nigeria has been battling for months.
Meanwhile the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, had approved a subsidy of N500,000 each for intending pilgrims from Kano embarking on the 2024 pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
jesusjnr2020: What Fell The Soldiers That Came To Arrest Jesus?
John 18:6 (KJV)
As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
It was a strange occurrence considering that they were fully armed with weapons, and it was armless Jesus they had come to arrest, so what could have made them suddenly reverse and fall to the ground?
Was it Christophobia or a panic attack they had because of Jesus?
There is no confusion as to what fell them. The Lord Jesus of Nazareth revealed His whole being to them I Am he, which is translated Ego Eimi! Exodus 3:14 Nothing in heavens or the earth can stand that Name, He made us realise. BUT just because He prepared to die, He withdrew that Awesomeness and they recovered to continue their operations
Penguin2: When I said in the other thread that buffoons have taken power in Nigeria, it seemed like I was just hating on Tinubu government but it’s the truth.
Or tell me what this particular policy is meant to achieve.
Explain it to me like I’m in nursery school.
In the end, what they will achieve is that banks come together and merge together so they can get the 500billion naira base capital. That’s how we will end up having about just 5 commercial banks remaining.
So, ultimately they will end up shrinking Nigerians’ choices and leaving us at the mercy of just few banks who will treat us as they like because our options are limited.
If you disagree with this, then tell me the advantages of this policy.
I’ll wait
The bolded has exposed the parlous state of your understanding vis a vis banking and economy. And do you know the characteristic of your ignorance? Arrogant and idiotic!
FalseProphet1: As a prophet, I'll organize deliverance sessions for the affected people. For a token of course. Tell them to come to my deliverance center and watch cancer and other diseases disappear from their body.
This I have seen.

BACKGROUND: After management at Ori Olokun Cultural Centre announced that those without a university degree would be laid off as they do not fit into the description of theatre arts to be pursued. This was when late Prof Ola Rotimi left and was replaced by Prof Wole Soyinka. Encouraged by colleagues and professors like Femi Osofisan, Kola Oyewo worked hard to obtain a degree in Theatre Art to avoid losing his spot in the group. He was later encouraged to pursue a master’s degree and PhD by Professor Femi Osofisan who was his undergraduate supervisor.
Oyewo became a father at a young age and had a child when he was 21. Six months after his birth, the child died. Years later, he and his wife had another male child who they named Adewale (the crown has come home). He has since had another four boys.

Weretuntun: Was relaxing today at my home.,when my friend came, looking sorrowful and worried. I ask him, what is the problem, after first, he denied that, no problem, but after let him know, that a problem shared,is problem half-solved, He told me that, his aged parent is still having sex with each other, and he didnot know how to stop, from killing themselve with sex. I am short of words.,that is why i shared it on this faceless forum. Cos i am dumbfounded now.
It's clear that you are jobless. When does sex kill people just because they are old? A lot of youngsters who don't know what their future holds are out their fukcing like mad and you refuse to raise alarm. By they way, the caption should read:
Emu4life: This Court case is as useless as the 'p' in Psychology. Attend Christian Universities if you want to 'worship'. That's what Christian Universities are doing to Muslims in the South. Two can play the game.
Why are the Muslim worshippers not going to the mosques in public schools?
Emu4life: Go to Christian Universities and stop disturbing our Peace. Hypocrites!!
It's too sure that the funds for those universities were gotten from Christians south and Christians in katsina. Christians don't do almajiris, they don't use funds to marry for them, they do not wait to use state fund to build churches for them yet they were more Economically productive than you guys
You have still not said anything. No wonder, people are not moved to ask. If it's 'not free information', (which is expected), what else have you said? No one has time for these one liner things. Come out fully, if you truly have anything to say
One of the biggest opinions trending in Nigeria recently. Among these trio, in no particular order: 1.AMUNEKE 2.FINIDI or 3. OLISEH Who would you want to coach the Super Eagles?
AfDapone: Those employed by Wigwe worked for their earnings. 90% work, 10% loyalty. People still pay homage to the late Michael Jackson, even though he didn't employ them.
Yes I agree with you. There are thousands of unemployed Nigerians, if your Ibu had also done like wigwe, the number would have reduced. Can you imagine if Ibu had one wife, spent less on booze and junk eaten, you probably would not be on NL typing this. Lol
How many souls did ibú employ? At their deaths, how many people have each touched. Your Ibu would have testified to the generosity enjoyed and known directly from Wigwe.
When does a well translated as shalanga? That's arrant nonsense. It is called KANGA. If you know what shalanga means, you would never relate it with a well
