Lagos authorities on Friday, June 7, arrested two individuals involved in the illegal production of adulterated alcoholic drinks at Oko-Arin Market on Lagos Island. Acting on a tip-off about a group engaged in the illicit activity, operatives from the CP Tactical Team, Eko, swiftly mobilized to the scene and apprehended Ogujiofor Emeka, 41, and Desmond Chima, 31. However, other suspects were said to have escaped. The raid resulted in the recovery of a substantial quantity of suspected counterfeit alcoholic beverages and production materials. Seized items included five cartons of Jack Daniels, two cartons of Black Barrel, and one carton each of William Lawson, Jameson, Black Label, and Remy Martin drinks. The PUNCH earlier reported that the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, sealed off the Arrow of God Community Children’s Home in Onitsha, over allegations of illegal adoption and selling of children. Obinabo led security operatives to seal off the structure after a report and documentary by Fisayo Soyombo made the rounds on social media and local television stations, alleging that the state Ministry of Women and Social Welfare was involved in an illegal adoption of a baby girl alongside one of her registered homes in the state. Obinabo had however denied any involvement and the ministry in the illegal child adoption saga.Clara Ogo pleaded not guilty to the charge. The presiding judge granted her bail with a bond of N1.3 million and two sureties in like sum. ”She was subsequently remanded at the Onitsha Correctional Facility pending the fulfilment of her bail conditions. SHOUN OGBOMOSO PAYS A HISTORIC VISIT TO THE OWA OBOKUN, THE DUO AGREE ON DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR YORUBALAND The palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland Oba Dr Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR, LLD was today agog as the Shoun of Ogbomoso, of Ghandi Olaoye came visiting. The visit was part of Oba Ghandi's courtesy visit and familiarization tour of the palaces of foremost traditional rulers in Yoruba land after his installation as the Shoun of Ogbomoso. Oba Adekunle Aromolaran welcomed the Shoun to his domain and stated that the advancement of Yoruba land and Nigeria in general is essential to ensuring a better future for the country's younger generation. He also pledged to collaborate with other stewards of culture and traditions to accomplish this goal. The paramount ruler of Ijesaland expressed his satisfaction that Oba Ghangi was selected by the kingmakers to be the Shoun due to his prominence and strong qualifications. The Shoun, whose maternal ancestry can be linked to the Ogedengbe dynasty of Ijesaland, noted that he and Ogbonoso shared certain characteristics, which he said had bonded them since they were little. Reminiscent of his high school years, when Aromolaran books dominated the WASC syllabus, Oba Ghandi praised the Owa Obokun for his unblemished record as a ruler and for his straightforward and bright nature. Prior to this, Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe, the Qwaloko of Iloko Ijesa, called the visit a "homecoming" and declared that the days of traditional rulers engaging in a fierce battle to the death were long gone. He called for cooperation and unity among the Yoruba monarchs in order to fulfill the aspirations of their ancestors. As the Ogboni of Ipole, Oba Kehinde Oyeleye prayed for a long reign for Oba Ghandi, he said that Oba Ghandi is a tremendous asset to Yorubaland and discussed the advantages of having him as the Shoun of Ogbomoso The Shoun was also welcomed by Oba Festus Awogboro, Oba Odo of Ilesa, High Chief Busuyi Gbadamosi, the Elegboro of Ijebu-jesa, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye, the Obaala of Ilesa, High Chief Ibitoye, Elemure of Obokun, Oba Festus Awogboro, and the Owamiran of Esa Oke, Oba Adediran Adeyemi, who gave him praise for reaching out to other obas in Yorubaland. https://www.facebook.com/share/usXpSfB98oNdAd9p/?mibextid=oFDknk
