It wasn’t just Lawmaker Temitope Olaoye Sugar that was shot dead on Saturday , a young man said to a supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was also shot dead.

The victim was reportedly killed by a bullet from the rifle of a police officer in Ile Tutun, Ibadan South East Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses say the young man who was in his early 20s was loudly celebrating the victory of his party when a shot fired by the policeman hit him.

The bullet reportedly ruptured his abdominal area and damaged his intestines.
The victim, simply identified as Mudasiru, was said to have been rushed to one Chief Kehinde Ege’s house in Ita Ege, for the extraction of the bullets.

However, he died before the bullets were extracted having lost too much blood.

The Police Public Relations Officer, in the state, Lawrence Fadeyi, who confirms the incident, asked for more time for a comprehensive investigation before further details could be made available.
The victim’s death comes around the time a federal lawmaker, Temitope Olatoye, popularly called Sugar, was shot dead in Ibadan.

A young man was killed by unknown gunmen after he was attacked in Akwa Ibom state.
The deceased identified as Kingsley Cletus Akpan of Ikot Andem Ukwok, Ini local government area, was shot dead by armed thugs in a case allegedly linked to political thuggery in the area due to the election.
According to report, the deceased was a final year Student of the University of Calabar, Cross River state.

A woman has confessed that she was caught in bed with another man.

The woman identified as Christina Machale, opened up before Harare Civil Court in Zimbabwe, that her husband Nokote Ali had no right to beat her after he caught her with another man.

She dragged Ali to court seeking protection order.
“He caught me with another man but that does not give him the right to beat me. “After the incident he has been abusing me every day. “He calls me a prostitute in front of my minor children,” she said.
Christiana told the court how she ended up cheating on her husband.

“He does not buy food; he is failing to maintain his children. “I had to look for other means to take care of my family,” she added.
Ali told the court that he had been angered by his wife’s acts.
“I admit that beating her up was not right but I struggle to look after the family and she is not satisfied. “She is into prostitution. I caught her with another man in our house that’s why I always beat her.

“I am worried about the character that she is teaching my children,” he said.

A man was arrested after he severely beat his daughter and her boyfriend whom he found having sex in his house in Bulawayo area of Zimbabwe.

Zanele Hadebe (22) brought her neighbour cum boyfriend Tanaka Moyo (30) home. She didn’t suspect that her father Felix Hadebe (55) would walk in on them during sex.

When he did, he wasn’t amused and attacked the pair who cut short their act. Moyo made the great escape after a few hits leaving his lover at the mercy of her angry father.

Using a metal rod, Hadebe struck them hard but because Zanele was at home and was slow to react as she was heavily beaten. Her cries were heard by neighbours but they came a little bit late. The only thing that could be done was ferry her to Mpilo Central Hospital.

For the offence, Hadebe was arrested. Zanele who has since recovered from the nasty beating told B-Metro that her father should have first knocked instead of barging into her bedroom.

“He should have knocked because I have the right to privacy because it’s my room,’’ she said.

She believes that’s not the way her father should have reacted in the first place. “Anger should not make a parent beat a child this way,” she added.

It has been gathered that a Boko Haram commander, Modu Hajja Bunaye Bama, has been apprehended by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Bonro state.

As disclosed in a Facebook post by Kolomi Shettima Kanuribe, the terrorist was nabbed during Boko Haram attack at Jiddari Polo, a suburb of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital last week.

He has since been handed over to the appropriate authorities, according to reports.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, on Wednesday congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR on his re-election as President and Commander-In-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In the early hours of Wednesday, the electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission, declared President Buhari successfully re-elected along with his running mate, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, GCON.

“The NFF is excited by the victory of President Buhari. We attribute all the successes that we have had in football in the past four years to His Excellency, working closely and in unison with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other key members of his administration.

“The Government of President Muhammadu Buhari has been providing the conducive environment necessary for the game of football to thrive in our dear country and we believe that the next four years will be even more fruitful for Nigerian football,” NFF President Amaju Melvin Pinnick, said.

Pinnick, who alongside NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi is attending the FIFA Executive Football Summit in Rome, Italy, said the various accomplishments of Nigerian Football locally and internationally in the past four years, on and off the field, could not have seen the light of day without the active support and encouragement of the Buhari Government.

Former Super Eagles captain, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha yesterday said he was never contacted over his alleged failure to pay income tax before a Lagos court issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

Many local and international media celebrated the order by a Lagos High Court in Igbosere for Okocha’s arrest earlier in the week.

He was taken to court by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice on a three-count charge bordering on failure to furnish return of income.

But Okocha spoke for the first time yesterday when he told The Guardian in a telephone chat that he was never contacted by anybody regarding income taxes. “I only read about it on the pages of newspapers.
No one contacted me. As a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I know very well that nobody is above the law. But honestly speaking, I was never contacted by anybody on issues before the court order.”

The former Bolton of England midfielder, and member of Super Eagles squad to Tunisia ’94 and Atlanta ’96 Olympics, however hinted that the issue had been settled. “It has been settled, but I won’t be able to give you details,” he stated.

The Guardian recalls that the prosecutor, Dr. Jide Martins, had stated that he filed the charge on June 6, 2017, adding that the case came up for the first time on October 5, 2017 but the defendant (Okocha) did not appear in court.

It led to several adjournments before he urged the court to issue a bench warrant.
Justice Adedayo Akintoye has adjourned the case until April 15 for the execution of the bench warrant and further hearing.

Meanwhile, Okocha, regarded as one of the best African players of all time, has called on two ex-internationals, Edema Fuludu and Victor Ikpeba, and others involved in the chairmanship tussle for the Delta Football Association to apply wisdom. Okocha is the immediate past chairman of DFA.

Report has it that a Nigerian man has been arrested in Italy after harassing people and allegedly assaulting police officers.

It was gathered that the 32-year-old Nigerian approached some women in a supermarket in Navacchio, Province of Pisa and allegedly started to harass them before the police were called.

It was scooped that when the police arrived, they tried to pacify the Nigerian immigrant but all pleas fell on deaf ears. He was alleged to have assaulted the police officers.

The suspect was immediately arrested with charge of resistance and violence to public officials.
When an investigation was conducted, it was discovered that the Nigerian has no fixed address.
He is currently cooling off in police custody.

Tragedy was averted after a three storey building under construction collapsed yesterday night after the heavy rain in Aba, Abia state.

According to sources, the building which is located at the extreme end of park road by east street, collapsed due to the alleged usage of substandard building materials.

The Nasarawa State governor, Tanko Al-Makura, has won the Nasarawa South Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC), displacing serving Senator, Solomon Adokwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Al Makura polled a total of 113,156 votes to defeat Adokwe who got 104,595 votes.
The governor was declared the senator-elect by the Collation Officer and staff of the Federal University Lafia, Professor Ahmed Ashuku.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Gaza of the PDP has emerged winner of Keffi/Kokona/Karu federal Constituency of Nasarawa State.

The Returning Officer, George Ganyi declared that he polled 93,282 votes to beat his closest contender Jacob Okari of the APC who got 59,661 votes.
The results were announced at the Abacha Youth Centre, Lafia on Monday in presence of party agents, security operatives and observers.

Also, Senator Abdullahi Adamu of APC was declared the winner of the Nasarawa West Senatorial seat.

The Independent National Electoral Commission says it will announce its decision on the violence and malfunctioning of the card readers in some polling units in parts of the country.

INEC’s Commissioner in charge of Voter Education, Festus Okoye, announced this in Abuja while giving an update on the ongoing Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The card reader was reported to have failed in some polling units in different parts of the country, with the electoral officials resorting to using the voter register to authenticate the affected voters.

Also, a number of deaths were reported following the outbreak of violence in some states, especially Rivers State, where a soldier was said to have been killed during a clash between troops and hoodlums in the Abonema area of the state.

Mr Okoye restated INEC’s position on the directive regarding the use of card reader.
“It was made very clear that the use of the smart card readers is mandatory. Therefore, no staff of the Commission or any ad-hoc staff of the Commission is permitted in whatever guise to deliberately refuse to use the smart card readers for the conduct of elections.”

He explained that the Commission has directed the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) and the officials on the ground in the affected states to submit their “first-hand reports in relation to some of these incidents.”

“We are still receiving reports relating to incidents in some states of the federation but we have received reports relating to incidents in Akuku Toru and Bonny Local Government Areas of Rivers State,” he added.

A woman has been stabbed at a polling station in Osun state, following an altercation with another lady.

The incident took place at the Lagere area of Ile-Ife in Osun.
The lady whose name could not be verified at the time was stabbed by another voter while on the queue.
A fight had ensued over who was and who wasn’t on the said queue.

In the course of the squabble, the victim was stabbed in the face with a bottle.

Report has it that a strange shrine that discovered in the bush on the boundaries of Iworo and Are-Ekiti, have caused unrest among some herbalists from Are-Ekiti in Ekiti state.

Speaking with Babatunde Bamigboye (Omo Edema), one of the herbalists who identified himself as Mr. Kunle, said an herbalist friend who recently missed his way while on his herb-fetching activity near the bush discovered the scary building.

According to Mr. Kunle, “An herbalist friend from Are-Ekiti came to inform us that he missed his way recently in the bush between Iworoko and Are-Ekiti only to burst out at a strange shrine where he met nobody.

The herbalists said vigilance is very important now that ritual killers and diabolic people were seemed to be on the increase in the country.

The Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 47-year-old man, Kazeem Adebayo, for allegedly killing his 30-year-old lover, Abosede Adesanya, over N530,000 and subsequently burying her in a shallow grave.

The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Ijebu-Igbo police station by the deceased’s mother, Amoke Onasanya.

According to the complainant, her daughter received a telephone call from the suspect, informing her that he had got a plot of land for her to buy.

Convinced that the suspect meant well, the deceased left home with the sum of N530,000 to purchase the said land. Onasanya told the police that few hours after her daughter left home, her cell phone was switched off.

The Command’s Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said following his arrest and interrogation, the suspect led the police to a shallow grave in his house where he buried the deceased.

He confessed further that he used a club to hit her on the head and subsequently buried her in his house, in order to cover any trace of her death to him.

According to trending online reports, a married woman has landed in deep waters after she was allegedly caught with her lover in a hotel in Awka, Anambra state capital.

It was gathered that the woman’s husband has been suspecting her of having an extra marital affair and decided to set a trap for his wife which she apparently fell into.

A leopard caused panic in the Indian city of Jalandhar as it went on the prowl for several hours attacking inhabitants before it was tranquilised.

Four people were hauled to the ground and bitten by the marauding feline who stalked the alleys and backstreets of the Punjab city of 800,000 people for more than six hours before it was caught.

Viral videos showed crowds gathering to watch the cat as it jumped at inhabitants in gardens on Thursday. It was also seen leaping across walls and pushed one man off a ladder as he tried to spread out a net to catch the animal. Those attacked all escaped serious injury.

Most of those hurt had been drawn to the area hoping to see the leopard and then became victims of its desperate attempt to escape the city.
Some reports said people had thrown stones at the animal in a bid to scare it away to nearby open fields. The leopard pulled one man to the ground and gnawed at his arm before leaping over a nearby wall, seeing another man and wrestling him to the ground as well.

Punjab state wildlife officials said the animal had strayed from the hills of nearby Himachal Pradesh state and then reached Jalandhar through fields and forests.

The leopard was eventually cornered in a house and sedated, media reports said.
The sedated animal was put in a cage and taken to Chhatbir zoo. Officials said it would remain under observation for several days before deciding its future.

The governor of Plateau state, Simon Lalong, paid a condolence visit to the home of Plateau son and celebrated Super Eagles Star Ahmed Musa over the loss of his dear mother Serah Moses .

As one who himself is no stranger to the pain of losing a mother, the governor described the loss of a mother as one of life’s greatest tragedies & encouraged Musa to be strong and prayerful as he goes through this trying phase of his life.

It was reported that Mrs. Moses died on 24th January 2019 at a private hospital in Abuja after a brief illness.

A family is in distress after their daughter was taken to the hospital for an eye surgery but came out with missing teeth and is now fighting for her life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Martha Wanjiku, a mother of two and a casual labourer in Molo, Nakuru County in Kenya, says she has known no peace since December 22, 2018. Her 11-year-old daughter and first born child is battling for her life at a Nairobi hospital after what Martha claims was a botched eye surgery at the PCEA Kikuyu Mission Hospital.

According to the woman, her daughter, Caren, had accompanied her to the farm when she was pierced in the eye by a cutlass.
The girl’s screams of pain, as Martha narrates, is what notified her of her daughter’s injury and it wasn’t long before they got to the Nakuru Provincial General Hospital to seek treatment.
Unfortunately, due to lack of doctors to conduct the cornea repair surgery at the hospital, they were referred to the PCEA Kikuyu Mission Hospital.

What was to be a simple surgery turned out to be the beginning of a nightmare for the family as soon as her daughter was wheeled into theater at 4.30pm on December 22, 2018. The girl remained in the theatre for quite a long time, building up anxiety for the mother on what could have gone wrong.

Martha demanded to see the state of her child, and she was informed by the doctor who conducted the operation, that her child needed to be taken to the intensive care unit as she had failed to wake up as expected.

Unfortunately, the available bed at the hospital’s ICU unit was set to cater for a more complicated case, and they were referred to another hospital.
According to the mission hospital administration, the doctors involved explained everything that happened during the surgery, but the mother insists that there are many details that have been left out. After the said surgery, Martha says, her daughter developed a breathing complication and moreover had missing teeth.

“My daughter has no teeth, they didn’t tell us why they removed them. Yet she was going into the theater for an eye surgery. Now I have a bill of Ksh.2 million from all these complications,” says the mother.
She is now demanding justice for her daughter against the PCEA Kikuyu Mission Hospital whose doctors insist they did everything by the book.

A notorious thief has been apprehended after stealing in the eastern part of Nigeria. It was gathered that the suspect was traced to his home after a theft where shocking items were found in his possession during a search.

Panties, bras, cream, ear rings, soap, cash among other items were recovered from his house.
When quizzed by those who nabbed him why he stole the panties and bras in particular, the suspect said he doesn’t know why he stole them.

He said he went to a house to steal only money but didn’t know the spirit that entered into him which made him to steal the underwear.

The serial thief said the panties and bras are of no use to him but decided to keep them in his house.
The suspect was later handed over to the police.
