Crime / Nigerian Ifeanyi Obi Arrested With Record $400K Drugs In Goa by hitng(m): 9:10am On Oct 30, 2019
In a major seizure, police in Goa, western India on Tuesday arrested a Nigerian Ifeanyi Pascal Obi, a.k.a Alex and confiscated drugs worth about Rs 3 crore(about $400,000) from him, local media reported on Wednesday.

Tuesday’s haul was a massive one considering that the value of the seized drugs was the same as the entire seizures in 2018.

The seizure was made following a raid at a hotel in the beach village of Candolim by the Calangute Police Station following a tip off.

Police inspector Nolasco Raposo, in-charge of the Calangute police station said that 34-year-old Nigerian was arrested for possession of the drugs.

“We have seized around 1 kg of Cocaine, around 2 kg MDMA(ecstasy drug), around 760 grams of Amphetamine tablets, around 106 grams charas, 1.2 kg ganja and cash amount of Rs 2 lakh, Raposo told reporters in Colangute.

Obi was arrested earlier in 2011 and booked for overstaying and again in 2012 for the possession of cocaine. The trials are pending in both cases.

“This raid is one of the single biggest seizures by the Goa Police in recent times. We cannot yet comment on his position in the drug network hierarchy as investigations are under process,” North Goa Superintendent of Police Utkrisht Prasoon said.

The police are also looking into the possible negligence by the landlord who rented out the premises to him.

Goa is a known hotspot for recreational and party drugs that are sold clandestinely especially along the beach belt that stretches from Candolim right up to Arambol in the North and is dotted with night clubs and other party hangouts.

The accused Obi has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotics, Drugs and Psycotropic Substances act.

Business / Border Closure: Let Our Goods Enter Nigeria, Yours Are Entering Ghana by hitng(m): 7:34am On Oct 17, 2019
Ghana’s Foreign Minister and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has appealed to the Nigerian government to let goods from Ghana enter Nigeria.

She said this in ligh of the recent closure of Nigeria’s western borders in order to curb the illegal entry of banned items.

Botchwey also said that the Ghanaian government would make use of all diplomatic avenues to get Nigeria to reopen its western borders for the free flow of goods from Ghana to the subregion.

Botchwey issued the plea during a meeting with Nigeria’s High Commission to Ghana, Olufemi Michael Abikoye on Tuesday, reports Ghanaweb.

She said, “As we speak, Nigerian goods are entering Ghana without any problem and I think that we should find ways of isolating the issues and the countries that you have problems with so that Ghana’s exports can enter your market without being lumped up with all these issues that have emerged.”

It was reported that the border closure had affected the activities of the Ghana Union Traders Association, whose members were lamenting the huge losses they had incurred as a result of the border closure.

The Ghanaian minister said that truckloads of goods from Ghana have been detained at the Seme border between Benin and Nigeria for weeks and coming back to use the seaports would present a major problem as the traders have already lost millions within the last few weeks.

The Nigerian High Commissioner, Olufemi Abikoye said Abuja would be willing to collaborate with Ghana to find a lasting solution to the situation.

Abikoye, however, pointed out that Ghana wasn’t the target of the border closure.

Sports / Divine Oduduru Disqualified From IAAF World Championships by hitng(m): 7:49am On Sep 29, 2019
Top Nigerian sprinter Divine Oduduru has been disqualified from taking part in the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Doha, after pulling out of Friday’s 100m event.

Oduduru ran foul of one of the competition rules which resulted in a stiff punishment from the world athletics body, IAAF. Oduduru had pulled out of the 100m event on Friday to focus on the 200m but the decision has ruled him out of the event and he will not also be part of the team’s relays, according to the IAAF rule.

Oduduru was initially entered for three events in the Men 100m, 200m and 4x100m relays. However, on the eve of his participation, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN tweeted that he had opted to ‘concentrate’ on the 200m and pulled out of the 100m which he had been registered for.

Allowing him to have his way was a gaffe on the part of the AFN as the competition rules does not allow such last-minute withdrawals.
Consequently, on event day Oduduru was not listed in the Men’s 200m heat, because of the violation in the regulations.

With Oduduru technically knocked off, only Emmanuel Arowolo will represent Nigeria in the event which is starting on Sunday.
An excerpt of the competition rules states:

At all competitions under Rules 1.1(a), (b), (c) and (f), an athlete shall be excluded from participation in all further events (including other events in which he is simultaneously participating) in the competition, including relays, in cases where: (a) a final confirmation was given that the athlete would start in an event but then failed to participate;

Note: A fixed time for the final confirmation of participation shall be published in advance. At the African Games, Oduduru also opted out of the 100m and only competed in the 200m and 4x100m races where he won silver medals.

The AFN is yet to issue any official statement on the obvious technical gaffe that has further trimmed Nigeria’s slim chances of winning any medal in Doha.

Meanwhile, the duo of Raymond Ekevwo and Rilwanu Alowonle who competed in the semifinal of the 100m and 400m Hurdles events on Saturday both failed to make it to the finals having finished 5th and 8th respectively.

Crime / Couple Arrested For Stealing N38 Million Health Insurance Remittances (photo) by hitng(m): 8:04am On Sep 25, 2019
The Lagos Police have arrested a couple for allegedly stealing N38 million at a health insurance company.

Funmilayo Oyelaja, 38, and Tunde Ogunseye, 42, fled to Ghana after the crime, but were arrested after Mr Ogunseye returned home for the burial of his mother.

The police paraded the couple in Lagos on Monday. Although not legally married, they have been partners since 2015.

Ms Oyelaja, who is the prime suspect, worked with Clearline Health Insurance Limited where she allegedly siphoned money meant for health insurance.

Mrs Oyelaja said she worked in the company’s account department for 10 years and stole “only N38 million”, contrary to the N60 million the company alleged.

She claimed that the company diverted the money that was meant to return to NHIS, to an account where the company fixed it, and her superiors were aware of the illegality.

She gave the names of the superiors as Kolawole Samuel and Patricia Ogundeinde.

Tunde Ogunseye, the partner who was arrested by the police, said he did not know much about the crime, only that they travelled to Ghana together.

He claimed she has been his girlfriend since 2015 and they already had their visas before they received a strange call advising them to leave Nigeria.

The couple travelled to Ghana in 2017. Mr Ogunseye said he lost his mother and had to come to Nigeria for the funeral arrangement and that was how he was arrested.

“I lost my mum last week and I was at the burial where they came to arrest me,” he said.

Ms Oyelaja, however, said she came on her own to make confessions, seeing that her partner had been arrested.

Ijeoma Anyiam, a representative of Clearline Health Insurance Limited who was present when the suspects were paraded, gave the company’s side of the story.

Mrs Anyiam is the company secretary and general manager in charge of administration.

Fashion / 10 Gorgeous Henna (laali) Designs For The Hausa-fulani Bride by hitng(m): 7:34am On Sep 10, 2019

If you are looking for bridal henna design ideas for your Nikkai ceremony or Hausa traditional wedding, you’re definitely at the right place.

Henna (Laali) is commonly used to beautify the Hausa or Fulani bride on her wedding day. It takes patience and very steady hands to apply henna tattoos correctly.

Hands and feet henna tattoo is one thing that many Muslim women, especially those from Northern Nigeria (Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri, etc) adore not just because it has become part of the Hausa culture but because of how beautiful the henna body art design and patterns look.

In previous years, the henna paste was applied to the skin with a matchstick for precision. These days, henna can be purchased in the form of a cone and a small opening can be made at the point of the cone so that intricate designs can be created on the skin.

Below are the latest bridal henna designs.

Fashion / 7 Makeup Removal Mistakes You Are Probably Making by hitng(m): 6:24am On Sep 09, 2019
kiss

The art of makeup is very complex, but if you want to maintain a good look and feel of your skin, it’s also important to take your makeup off the right way. Find out which makeup removal mistakes you might be making and how to correct them!

1. Using Only A Skin Cleanser
You probably have your favourite skin cleanser that you use every day to remove everything that has accumulated on your face during the day. However, regular skin cleansers, whether they come as foams, gels, or oils, are not designed to remove makeup from your eyes.

You will need a separate product to remove the makeup from your eyes. It has a gentler formula than a regular skin cleanser and can take off even the most waterproof makeup without damaging your eyes and the sensitive skin around them.

2. Using Only An Eye Cleanser
Once you have experienced the effectiveness of a special eye makeup remover, it can be very tempting to use it all over your face, especially if you love wearing heavy-duty foundation and lipstick. But that’s not a very good idea for one simple reason.

Eye makeup removers are usually very rich and contain oils for a more effective removing of the makeup. If you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, using an eye makeup remover all over your face can worsen the condition of your skin and lead to new problems.

3. Wrong Water Temperature
Like most people, you probably choose the temperature of the water for washing your face depending on the weather: hot water feels especially comforting on cool days, and cold water gives a much-needed refreshment on a hot day.

However, both of those options are not ideal for makeup removal. Hot and cold water messes the natural lipid barrier of your skin. When removing makeup, use lukewarm water that feels neutral on your skin.

4. Rubbing Your Eyes And Skin
When you are wearing a lot of makeup, you naturally want it to come off as quickly as possible. However, rubbing your eyes and face too vigorously will lead to a different effect. Instead of feeling clean, your skin will feel irritated. Plus, being too aggressive when removing makeup can lead to wrinkles developing on your most sensitive areas.

5. Using A Single Pad
Makeup removal pads are not very expensive, but you can simply forget that it’s time to take out a new one. As a result, you begin rubbing the makeup products you’ve just removed back into your skin. As soon as the cotton pad changes colour, it’s a signal that it’s time to throw it out.

6. Skipping The Next Steps
Once you have successfully removed your makeup, it may seem like your skin care routine for the evening is done. However, even the richest oil-based makeup remover cannot substitute the rest of the skin care steps, especially the moisturizer. No matter how tired you may feel, skipping the moisturizer will leave your skin dehydrated and dull.

7. Using Coconut Oil
With so many articles on how great coconut oil is for everything, including your skin, using coconut oil to remove your makeup may seem like a great idea. But while coconut oil can be rather effective in removing makeup thanks to its fatty acids, the same acids also make coconut oil highly comedogenic.

If you are prone to acne and breakouts, or have sensitive skin, using coconut oil regularly as a makeup remover can make the condition of your skin worse. It’s best to use coconut oil for other beauty purposes.

Food / How To Make Onunu (Mashed Yam And Plantain) by hitng(m): 12:27pm On Sep 06, 2019

Onunu is a Nigerian delicacy that hails from Rivers State and has a long and rich history. The list of ingredients for onunu is surprisingly short, given its amazing flavour and fluffy texture. Visually, onunu resembles pounded yam, but those two dishes have more differences than similarities. Find out how to make onunu right now!

1. Ingredients
The two main ingredients for onunu are mashed yam and plantain, but there are a few more ingredients you will need to recreate the beloved taste of onunu. Here is what you will require for this recipe:

• Plantains – 2
• Yam slices – 3
• Palm oil – 1/2 cup
• Salt – to taste
• Pepper – to taste

Onunu cannot be made without plantains, but you can’t just use any plantains you have at home. To achieve the perfect consistency, the plantains should be overripe. When you see the majority of the plantain skin turn brown, you can instantly begin cooking your onunu.

2. How To Make Onunu
If you have never cooked onunu before, you are probably going to be surprised by how easy this dish is. Take these steps to make your first batch of delicious onunu:

1. Peel the skin from the yam slices and rinse them. Put the yams into an empty pot.

2. Add enough water to cover the yams, put on a stove, and bring to a boil.

3. Cook the yams until they are soft.

4. Wash the plantains them and slice each plantain into 2 or 3 slices, leaving the skin on. Put the plantains into an empty pot.

5. Cover the plantain slices with water, put on a stove, and bring to a boil.

6. Cook until the plantains are soft.

7. Take the yam slices out of the water, put into a mortar, and pound with a pestle while the yam is still hot.

8. Peel the skin off the plantains while they are still hot and add to the pounded yams. Pound together until you reach an airy and uniform consistency.

9. Add the salt, pepper, and palm oil. Continue pounding the onunu until the mixture reaches a warm yellow colour and a sleek shine. Make sure not to pound your onunu too much – it can lead to a rubbery, doughy texture you don’t want.

10. Shape the onunu into a ball. The pounded yam and plantain onunu is done!

11. Serve your onunu with your favourite stew or soup. Onunu tastes particularly great with seafood, so if you are planning to make a seafood stew, you already know what to serve with it.

Business / How To Start A Delivery/courier Business In Nigeria HiTNG by hitng(m): 1:09am On Sep 05, 2019

No matter what the economy looks like at any given moment, people in Nigeria will always require delivery services. Whether it’s delivering goods from online stores to the buyers, transferring parcels between businesses, or doing any other courier jobs, right now, delivery is a fantastic business opportunity. Here is how to start a courier delivery business in Nigeria!

1. Think About The Specifics
Delivery businesses can have numerous differences, from the scale to the delivery mode. Think about the specifics of your future courier business. For example, is your courier going to drive a car, ride a bike, or transport the cargo on foot? Are you only going to work with other businesses or provide your services to individuals? Your answers to these questions will largely influence the configuration of your business.

In general, it is best to start your delivery business on a small, local scale. First, you won’t need a huge startup capital when you start small. Second, you will have less competition. Third, you will have a smaller chance of your new business failing and bringing you huge losses.

2. Investigate The Market
Once you have chosen the approximate scale of your business that fits your own possibilities, it is time to find out who are the potential clients of your services. Walk around the area on foot or study it on local maps to spot anyone who may need delivery services.

The most frequent clients of delivery services are online stores, grocery stores, restaurants and fast food joints, florists, pharmacists, banks, and gift shops. Contact their managers and ask whether they would be interested in affordable and high-quality delivery services.

3. Create A Business Plan
There is no chance for a new business to be viable without a solid business plan to support it. Your business plan should contain detailed information on every aspect of your enterprise, from the study of the competitors to the potential challenges. If you don’t think you can write a good business plan, you can hire a professional business plan writer.

4. Get A Startup Capital
Courier delivery is not the most capital-intensive type of business to start in Nigeria, but it still requires you to have an initial amount of money for a smooth launch. On average, you will need about ₦300,000 if you are planning to do the deliveries by bike.
You can get away with an even smaller startup capital if you will carry the goods on foot. Your startup capital will be spent on mobile phones, a computer with internet access, as well as promotional materials for the business.

5. Choose A Name And Design
The name of your business is very important for its potential, and the design can have a big influence on the success of the venture. The name should be informative and tell the customers about its purpose, while the design of the logo and promotional materials should be attractive and memorable.

6. Market Your Business
You don’t need to be a business expert to understand that in 2019, a new business cannot survive without proper marketing. In addition to visiting the offices of your potential customers and making outgoing phone calls, you also need to make it easier for the customers to find your business. You will need to advertise your services online, including social media and classified ads. You can also hand out flyers and use visual advertisements in the streets.

7. Choose Competitive Prices
One of the final steps in launching a delivery business is setting the prices for your services. You want the prices to be competitive enough to give you some leverage, but not too low, as you don’t want to sustain losses. You can choose prices that are similar to the average prices in your market, but hold frequent promotions and discounts to attract more customers.

Health / How To Know If You Need Glasses by hitng(m): 9:01pm On Aug 21, 2019

Good eyesight is one of the most valuable gifts from nature and we must do everything we can to protect it. Unfortunately, with time and due to other reasons, your eyesight can become weaker over time. Find out how to know if you need glasses without visiting a doctor.

1. Computer Reading
If you are looking at a text on a computer screen and have difficulty reading it from a normal distance, you may be experiencing the first symptoms of farsightedness. When working on a computer, always use the 20-20-20 rule, where you need to look 20 meters away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes to preserve your eyesight.

2. Headaches
When you suffer from farsightedness or astigmatism, you need to know that both of these conditions cause your eyes to feel the strain and fatigue much of the time. If this condition persists, you may start experiencing headaches after a day of reading, working, and generally using your eyesight.

3. Double Vision
We are used to thinking of double vision as a symptom of drinking too much, but it can also indicate serious problems with your eyesight. If you often see double when there is only one object, the possible reasons for that are cataracts or eye muscle problems, both of which are a reason to see an eye doctor.

4. Night Vision
If you are noticing you are no longer seeing things as sharply and vividly at night as you used to, it is best to seek treatment as soon as possible. Difficulties with night vision are a telling early sign of cataracts, which can be treated successfully if diagnosed early.

5. Itchy Eyes
In case you cannot go for an hour without rubbing your eyes, there is a big possibility that you experience eye strain or eye fatigue and a pair of correctly prescribed glasses can help in this situation. Other reasons for frequent eye rubbing include conjunctivitis or allergies, which also need to be treated by a professional.

6. Slow Adjustment
If you walk into a dark room from a brightly lit area and it takes a while for your eyesight to adjust to new lighting conditions, it is very likely that the muscles in your eyes are weakening. This commonly happens due to older age, but it’s better to get an eye checkup.

7. Blurry Vision
Blurry vision is one of the most common eye symptoms that results in a patient wearing eyeglasses. The two most likely reasons for this problem are farsightedness and nearsightedness, but you can also see in a blur due to eye strain, dry eyes, or even simply being tired.

8. Halo Vision
Similar to blurry vision, halo vision doesn’t allow you to see objects perfectly clearly. However, halo vision is usually experienced around light fixtures and other bright objects. Besides the usual reasons for experiencing halo vision, it can also be an early sign of cataracts.

Health / Mum Sues Doctor As Tip Of Her Son's Pen!s Is Cut Off During Circumcision by hitng(m): 12:46pm On Aug 20, 2019
A doctor is being sued by a mother who claims her newborn baby’s pen!s was severed by an intern in a botched circumcision.

The boy was just nine days old when the tip of his pen!s was cut off during the procedure following his birth last November, his mum says.

She says she knew something was wrong when she could hear her infant son "crying so much".
The mum, who declined to be identified, says she still has the severed part of the pen!s stored in her freezer in case her son has questions about his body when he is older, fearing he will have self-esteem problems when he grows up.

The woman, from the Canadian city of Regina, has filed a statement of claim alleging negligence against the doctor, his business and an unidentified intern she believes did the procedure
According to the suit, the woman and her husband took their newborn to the Victoria East Medical Clinic, reports The Canadian Press.
She soon realised something was wrong because of the time taken.

"It was already taking too long," she said.
She said it had been completed far quicker when her other son had had it done eight years previous.
The woman added: "I could hear the baby crying so much."
She claims a doctor came into the waiting area and was apologetic.

"He came out and he said, 'There's a problem. We have to call the ambulance'," the mother recalled.
The mum claims the doctor told her that the procedure was performed by an intern, and she broke down and couldn't control her crying.

"Someone just told me he was performing some practice on my baby, that's what it sounded like," she said. "I couldn't even talk."

Lawyer Kolade Oladokun, who's representing the mother, said any damages awarded in the suit could help pay for future cosmetic surgery for the boy.
The boy's father said the family doesn't care about money.

"We just want to know if our son's going to be OK," he said.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.

Celebrities / 'I Am Never Going To Judge Those Couples That Quits After Months Of Marriage by hitng(m): 6:49am On Aug 16, 2019
A top Nigerian photographer, Demilade Roberts, who is set to tie the knot soon, took to Instagram to share his experiences covering wedding ceremonies.

According to Roberts, he now understands why marriages fall apart and therefore will never judge those couples that call it quits months after wedding. Read his post below.

The thing is i'm never going to judge those couples that call it quits after months of marriage.
I mean, i've covered introductions that didn't make the engagement and proposals that didn't make the introduction. I've covered weddings that weren't even real marriages by law.

The devil attacks with all guns blazing when you're about to enter your next level of life. Career, relationships, what not. The devil will use anyone, everyone and everything to confuse you and stir up strife. Reason why Jesus said if a man isn't mature in grace and spirit he should not marry.

It's a crazy phase and all that can go wrong will go wrong just to test the union. Trust me...it's not a walk in the park.

I've seen a father slap the bride and leave her to walk down the aisle alone and mothers disrupt ceremonies because they felt unimportant.
People will come with genuine intentions of good and to help but their input only causes more problems.

It's now i understand why every single bride I've shot has said the words "this day just needs to end". Yea it's the happiest moment of your life but also the most trying.

I'm staying strong. But fellas, do not ask any woman to marry until you are sure you will die for her. Until you are sure you will give up everything for her. Until you are sure you will accept everything life throws at you. Because life will hit hard.

The other day i ran into one of my oldest female friends who was also engaged. She asked how far with plans, I couldn't lie to her. "Omo i just want to wake up the day after". She chuckles as i ask about hers. "I called it off abeg, he wasn't what I thought he was". She said.

I gave that girl a high five because life is too short to be with a man who can't handle pressure, manage and rebuke strife and be of peace to spread joy. Gentlemen, you will be tested. Don't play yourself. Na kuku us dey ask for hand in marriage.

Crime / Herdsmen Clash In Imo Over Stolen Cows by hitng(m): 9:18am On Aug 14, 2019
There was panic in Agbala, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State on Tuesday August 13 after a Fulani herdsman allegedly stabbed another in order to steal his cows, but was caught by other herdsmen who stabbed him repeatedly as punishment for his actions.

It was gathered that the two herdsmen were rushed to the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri.

Punchng quoted a source as saying, “What happened was that a Fulani herdsman had gone into the bush where his kinsman and his cows were staying. While the man in the bush was sleeping, his kinsman stabbed him mercilessly and left with the victim’s cows thinking that he was dead.

“However, another Fulani herdsman, who was in the bush, quickly alerted the other herdsmen. They monitored his movement until reinforcement arrived. The other herders first recovered the stolen cows before stabbing him repeatedly. It was the villagers, who alerted the police.

The man was rescued and the two victims were rushed to the emergency unit of the FMC, Owerri. This issue would have degenerated if not that another Fulani herdsman witnessed it."

The attacks caused a gridlock on the Owerri-Aba Road. The police spokesperson in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, said the two herdsmen were responding to treatment in hospital.
