A man accused of importing about $10 million worth of methamphetamine hidden inside a gold fish statue will stand trial in the ACT Supreme Court.
Jackson Igwebuike, 33, in Canberra on a student visa, was caught in a sting after Australian Border Force officers intercepted packagescontaining three 20 kilogram statues headed for the capital.
One of the statues allegedly contained 10 kilograms of the drug ice.
Officers swapped the illicit substance with a fake alternative, and sent the package on to Kaleen, where it was allegedly picked up by Igwebuike and taken to a second address in the same suburb. He was arrested attempting to board a bus at the Jolimont Centre.

CrimeNigerian Man Arrested For Fraud In India by hmuhammad(op):
– A Nigerian man from Delta state, Omeleze Fred was nabbed by India police for defrauding his ‘lover’

– Omeleze had around 500,000 mobile phone numbers and 100,000 emails of Indians on his laptop

– He duped his last victim of around N7.4million naira and also falsified his visa in order to remain in the country

Fraudster in India, Omeleze Fred

Police in India has arrested a Nigerian man for defrauding his Indian lover by impersonating an American citizen.

According to reports in Times of India, the Cyber Crimes Police station, Cyberabad East has arrested one Omeleze Fred of Delta state for cheating a woman by falsely claiming to be an American national falsely and promising to ‘settle’ with her.

Fred had caught the lady victim who was not named by introducing himself as one ‘Benson’, an American national serving in Afghanistan and after several conversations, he told her that he wanted to come to India and settle with her by investing his savings, which he told was about five million US dollars.

The victim later received a call from a lady who introduced herself as a manager in the customs department of the airport in New Delhi and said that ‘Mr. Benson’ was apprehended by the customs department for bringing US Dollars and gold and diamond jewellery. Fred (still posing as ‘Benson’) also called and informed her that if she pays the taxes as told, the customs officer would release his money and jewellery which they would spend in their future life.

Believing him, the victim transferred N7.4million (Rs.2.5 lakh) in the bank accounts provided by the accused. Later she realized that she had been duped and reported to the police which swung into action.

Omeleze was brought to Hyderabad and was remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday.

Police said Omeleze lived in Mehrauli, New Delhi and preliminary investigation showed that he arrived in India in 2012 and was staying in different localities in New Delhi. After his original visit visa expired two months after arriving in India, he prepared a fake Indian visa sticker and pasted it on his passport to rent a house.

Omeleze, who was reportedly arrested with a whopping 500,000 (5 lakh) mobile numbers and 100,000 (one lakh) email IDs of Indians found on his laptop, created several Facebook profiles by putting photos of smart looking Americans and used it to chat with Indian women online after searching for their profiles.

Meanwhile, just some days back, two Nigerian men were arrested by police in India for reportedly dealing in drug trade.

According to report in India’s Mail Today, the duo of 23-year-old Kenneth Jideo and 27-year-old Obuneme Victor were arrested by police in Bengaluru for selling cocaine to college students.

AgricultureRe: Made In Nigeria Rice From Niger & Kebi States (Photos) by hmuhammad(m): 10:41am On Aug 01, 2016
fiizznation:
Niger state is a state that is blessed with vast land and its land is very conducive for farming. There is this baddegi rice in the state, if the FG can get serious with that badeggi rice, I'm so sure Nigeria will be fully independent from importing rice. I did a little research in the state like 8yrs ago, and i was highly impressed with what I saw in badeggi. Like that badeggi rice can compete with Brazil/Thailand rice if more attention is given to it.
your head de there. Last year, gold was discovered from Niger state, two weeks ago it was petroleum now it is rice processing. God bless Niger state, proudly Nigerlite

However, the plea bargaining is more effective with these big thieves than prosecution. They have amassed too much wealth that prosecuting them can drag for years without getting better returns even after successful prosecution. Imagine getting Omisore successfully jailed for five years after prosecution without getting him return the N1.3 billion!

PoliticsIyiola Omisore Refunds N100m To EFCC by hmuhammad(op): 1:12pm On Jul 24, 2016
A former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, has refunded to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) N100million of the N1.310 billion public money allegedly traced to him by the anti-graft agency.

He has subsequently been released by the EFCC from its custody to two members of the National Assembly who stood as sureties ahead of meeting his bail conditions.

He is expected return to the anti-graft agency tomorrow to perfect the bail conditions.

Highly placed EFCC sources said the deal to allow the ex-Deputy Governor go home since his arrest on July 10 was on account of his health and promise to refund about N1.310billion allegedly allocated to him by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) during the Jonathan administration.

The EFCC source said: “The EFCC granted Omisore bail on compassionate ground to attend to his health. He was actually in the hospital where he underwent surgery.

“This is an anti-graft agency under a leadership committed to respect for human rights. After undergoing operation and following his pledge to refund the N1.3billion, the commission granted him bail.”

The money was traced to his account and three firms linked to him.

The source said: “Before Omisore was granted bail, he agreed to refund the N1.310billion and a repayment schedule was mutually consented to by the suspect and the EFCC.

“To demonstrate his commitment, he has returned the N100million to the commission. The cash is what was left in his frozen account.

“We are hopeful that he will keep to the schedule of payment of the balance of N1.2billion.”

The source said Omisore could not immediately meet his bail conditions but was released to two members of the National Assembly who stood as sureties for him.

“We have respect for him and these National Assembly members. Based on this mutual trust, we granted bail to Omisore.

“The EFCC has asked him to return on Monday to fulfill other conditions for his bail including getting two directors in the public service with landed properties. We hope he will abide by his pledge.”

Omisore was arrested over N4.745 billion allegedly allocated to him and others by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

Of this amount, about N1.310billion was traced to Omisore and three companies.

His accomplices include Governor Ayodele Fayose and ex-Minister of Defence, Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro, who has gone on self-exile in the United States.

According to a report by the EFCC, the funds were remitted as follows: Fimex Gilt Limited(N160m)-8/8/2014in UBA; Metropolitan Consortium(N350m)-9/7/14 in First Bank; Sawanara(N300m)—1/8/14 in First Bank and Metropolitan Consortium(N350m)-1/8/14 in First Bank.

A top EFCC source, who spoke in confidence, said: “Preliminary findings have shown that N1.310billion out of the N4.745billion from ONSA was remitted to the three firms and the accounts of these three companies belong to Omisore.”
