emmanuelewumi: With a BV of N50 and PE of 48, I don't understand how Nestle is undervalued. I guess I can't see what you are seeing.
Even a small company with a high potential for growth with a PE of 48, before I can invest in such a company it needs to have the ability to grow her earnings by a minimum of 30% for the next 5 years.
People buying Nestle and NB at the current valuations are Foreign investors who will later sell to our Institutional investors like Pension Funds, Mutual Funds and Insurance companies. After all the so called institutional investors are not trading and investing their personal funds, in the stock market and in the corporate world people take reckless risk with other peoples money. Will you say, on any metric whatsoever, that Guiness is better than Nestle? |

PharmAlfred: This is obviously not the season for oil companies. Subsidy removal dealth them a blow. Nah, when subsidy was truly removed, Oil companies in downstream sector made good profit (Q2-Q3 2016). But when govt, in bed with CBN, brought subsidy back through the back door(like clowns) via "forex subsidy" and NNPC assumed about 100% importation of Petrol, yawa gas for all of them. |

Pluto,
Do you find this acceptable (in accounting at least), that a company will not state, the tax paid in Q1-Q3 2016 and disclose such in full at FY2016? I noticed this in NPF.

holm: Might just be expenses from the Kano factory that was recently opened. Pluto, the the sharp increase in Property, Plant and Materials is the closest explanation(the company will need more hands and logistics for a new production line abi ) to the distibution and admin charge.

pluto09: Yes, good result relative to its price. I notice a big jump in distribution and administrative expenses which a major concern. Those who are in should also keep an eye on the price of wheat at the international market. If wheat price continues its upward trajetory into the 2nd half of the year, the possibility of a slow down in profit cannot be ruled out. Might just be expenses from the Kano factory that was recently opened. |
