You have Obama, and Oprah, two of the most powerful people in the US that have very strong ties to Chicago, yet they cannot atleast acknowledge what is going on there. My heart hurts for the brother, to leave a country that is your home to escape that hell, hopes and dreams of making a good life for yourself in this place they all talk so great about, AMERICA. where the quality of life is so much better, where you have so many opportunities to live a grande life, to be filled with excitement, yet anxiety about your new journey, to arrive where everything is new, even the language, you have to learn to speak, the people, the culture, and to think you finally made it. To be gunned down in front of your own home, like its nothing. To make that trip, that journey across the world to leave poverty only to land in hell. rest brother. You did not die in vain. We all should take away from what you taught us here, in that it is ok to disagree without the disrespect its ok to have your own opinion, its ok just to be who you are.
Is life truly not cruel? ![]() |
United, Spurs desperate to avoid Barca trial 07 December 2010, 13:02 Manchester United and Barcelona complete the formalities of the Champions League group phase on Tuesday, desperately playing down their roles as favourites but also keen to get their mathematics right. United face fellow second-round qualifiers Valencia at Old Trafford with the only issue at stake being who finishes top of Group C. The Spanish side are three points behind but to take top spot they must become the first team to score against Sir Alex Ferguson's men in Europe this term. Ferguson will play a competitive side as he wants to make sure United finish top and avoid the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona until the latter stages of the competition. "We will be playing a strong side because we want to top the group," said Ferguson. "Real Madrid are top of their group, Barcelona are top, Bayern (Munich) are top. "It's not that you're afraid of them but you want to keep them out of the road until later." Owen Hargreaves and Antonio Valencia remain long-term absentees for United, although Michael Owen is close to making a comeback from a hamstring injury. Barcelona, buoyed by their 5-0 demolition of Real Madrid and Saturday's 3-0 win at Osasuna, have already ensured top spot in Group D. Fringe players such as Bojan Krkic, Jeffren and Thiago Alcantara could be drafted in for the home clash with Rubin Kazan, who can grab the runners-up spot. "We have managed to take first place in the group, which is very important," said Barcelona star Pedro Rodriguez. "However, it's far too early to talk about winning the Champions League." Rubin Kazan, who stunned Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou last season, have six points to Copenhagen's seven, with the Danish side finishing their first stage fixtures with a home game against Panathinaikos. In Group A, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admitted he is also desperate for his side to secure top spot with a victory over FC Twente because that would ensure they avoid facing Barcelona in the first knockout round. Spurs have already qualified for the last 16 but Redknapp isn't taking their trip to Holland lightly because he knows failure to win could see them surrender first place to defending champions Inter Milan, who currently trail the Londoners on goal difference. "Inter Milan will go to Germany (to face Werder Bremen) looking to win because that top position is important," said Redknapp, who saw Barcelona demolish Real Madrid last week. "I think anyone wants to avoid Barcelona. It (the win over Real) was just amazing; it was as good as I have ever seen. I don't think I've ever seen a better performance." In Group B, Schalke and Lyon are also already assured of qualification with the German side a point ahead. To overhaul the leaders, Lyon must beat Hapoel Tel-Aviv and hope Schalke fail to win at Benfica. Schalke travel to Portugal buoyed by their 2-0 win at home to defending Bundesliga champions Bayern on Saturday, with goals from Spain midfielder Jose Manuel Jurado and defender Benedikt Hoewedes. http://www.supersport.com/football/uefa-champions-league/news/101207/United_Spurs_desperate_to_avoid_Barca_trial |

Cameroon import excites Pillars’ coach by Ojeikere Aikhoje 06 December 2010, 21:46 Cameroonian import, Isaac Hele, is gradually worming his way into the heart of Kano Pillars coach, Salisu Yusuf. Although the former Esperance de Guider defender is yet to taste action since his arrival in Nigeria, Yusuf is excited with the progress of the Cameroonian. “He has good technique that will be to the advantage of the team. It’s interesting to note that he’s already getting used to the Nigerian way of life. “In fact, he’s getting better in English and even Hausa,” Yusuf said to SuperSport.com. The former Lobi Stars coach said the presence of Nigerian-born midfielder, Joseph Thompson, who played for Cotonsport in Cameroon, has enabled him to adapt properly. “We’re confident that he’ll make his debut for Pillars in January,” said Yusuf. The former El-Kanemi star expressed confidence that the Cameroonian will blossom in the Nigerian league unlike Chadian import, Abubakar Akorya Tchalet, who joined Pillars from Chad’s Elect Sport N’djamena last term. Tchalet failed to make the grade at Pillars and returned to his native Chad. “The Nigerian league was too tough for Tchalet and he couldn’t cope,” Yusuf informed SuperSport.com Hele is the first Cameroonian to play for the former Nigerian champions. © SuperSport.com

Ogunbote sure of Sunhine by Sammy Wejinya 05 December 2010, 18:13 Technical adviser of Sunshine Stars of Akure, Gbenga Ogunbote has been reflecting on a breathless game that saw his side narrowly lose 1-0 to Sharks in Port Harcourt on Saturday. Sunshine Stars gave a good account of themselves in the game, dominating possession and carving out chances at will. Two penalties for the home side meant Ogunbote’s boys went home empty handed but the gaffer was not too depressed. “The officiating could have been better but I hate blaming referees,” Ogunbote told SuperSport.com after the game. “We played great football and even the fans of the home side appreciated us. I am quite satisfied with the work of my players but we have to continue working hard,” he said. Ogunbote has been a breath of fresh air in the league this season. Masterminding the stars to a great run which culminated in 1-0 success against Plateau United in Jos, the league’s governing body, the NPL, took notice and rewarded him with the Manager of the week award for match day three. ‘It was a great moment for me. It meant that if we worked hard, we would get our reward. It was one of my greatest moments as a coach,” he said. Ogunbote also spoke on the chances of his side in the ongoing 2010/2011 NPL season. “We can achieve great things this season. We have a very strong squad and the players are willing to learn and achieve great things in their careers. If all goes according to plan, we will definitely put smiles on the faces of our fans,” he said. Sunshine Stars are home to Gombe United in their next game. © SuperSport.com
