Musa confident despite banishment

Current highest goal scorer in the Nigeria Premier League, Kano Pillars Ahmed Musa has told

Current highest goal scorer in the Nigeria Premier League, Kano Pillars Ahmed Musa has told the official NPL website that he is confident of breaking the goals record set by Ishaya Jatau and Akarandut Orok in spite of the club's banishment to Calabar for the rest of the season. Musa noted that he needs just two goals to be able to break that record and write his name in gold.

'I am not worried that we are going to play the remaining matches of the season in Calabar. I am sure that I am going to get the two goals that will make me the undisputed king of goals since the professional league started in 1990. I am preparing my mind to for the big moment when I will score my eighteenth goal of the season. And you never can tell, I might even score more', Musa boasted.

Musa has scored sixteen goals so far in the season.

SportsElderson Echiejile Has Signed A Four-year Deal With Braga. by honeric01(mod): 2:22pm On Jun 02, 2010
Nigerian left-back Elderson Echiejile has signed a four-year deal with Braga.

The capture of the international defender, who is part of Nigeria’s World Cup squad in South Africa, paves the way for the departure of Evaldo, who is expected to switch to Liga Sagres rivals Sporting.

“He has signed for four years with Braga, and will play in the Champions League,” confirmed the brother and agent of the former Rennes defender, Emmanuel Echiejile.

“He has already visited the club to see Braga’s facilities and was very happy with their ambitions. Both the coach and the president want to count on him. It’s a transfer that opens up a lot of possibilities for Elderson.”

The 22-year-old had been tracked by Braga for over a year and arrives at the Estadio AXA on a free transfer.

SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Colombia: A Better Eagles Performance by honeric01(mod): 12:43pm On Jun 02, 2010
Jarus:
Well, that may be a little exaggeration but I think if SE had won 3-1 or so, many people will agree that SE did well in that match.
I watched virutally every SE match since 2004 till Vs Colombia except not televised. From less fancied ones like Vs Macedonia to Vs Jamaica etc to Vs big teams like France to all the ANC matches between 2004 and 2010, to all the qualifying series against the Nigers, S/Leones, E/Guineas of this world.

SE has had frustrating and embarrassing shows between 2004 and 2010, and the few games I can count out are Unity Cup in London in 2004(against Ireland and Jamaica), Vs Cameroun in 2004 ANC QF, Vs France in friendly 2009, Vs Zimbabwe(both legs) October 2005 in 06 WC qualifying series, vs Mozambique in last ANC, and Vs Colombia last week. I will not count a performance against Zimbabwe or Moz as splendid. Ditto for Vs Jamaica. So I'm left with vs France and Colombia( vs Cameroun was in January, hence predated the 'since vs Ireland' assertion )

Anyway, I agree it's debatable but I'm convinced they had a decent show vs Colombia, far better than 95% of their pgames since 2004.
Macedonia? when did we play that?
why would you leave out Mozambique that drew with Egypt, Beat Tunisia, Kenya and even drew with CIV, and the only scoreline CIV was able to get against was a 1: 0 at home (not that it was not away).

prior to Amodu's reign as coach, we have never been disgraced, the only scoreline we had that was bad was against Egypt and the players are 70% to be blamed for that loss.

All the same, Amodu didn't concede much goals throughout his stay as our coach and he used this same team of our that's finding it hard to score now to achieve all that he achieved from 2008 till he was sacked. his goal tally is one of the best we have ever had and it's still with these same crops of players (mediocre).

we have played beautiful football until the draw against Mozambique/Tunisia and Egypt.

The game against France/ South Africa and Ghana was once of the best i have watched so far and you can't tell me they didn't perform well in these matches.

It either you watched a different match or watched the match in an old black and white TV that shows only curtain-line.

Let's give it to these boys, the game against Colombia was a significant improvement over their performances in recent time. In fact the last time I saw Eagles play like this was against Ireland in, I think, 2004(Martins' debut). I'm talking about holding a quality opposition like Colombia that beat Argentina in the qualifying series. If even a second-rate team, Colombia, like many other South American countries, are no pushover in world football.
Jeez, when last did you watch the SE play? 2004 right? undecided

you mean the SE have never played better than the game against Colombia since 2004? man, you fall my hand big time, so you mean in 6yrs, the Colombia match was the best performance you have watched so far? i sorry oo cry cry cry cry

Sagamite:
Thank you!

I am in support of Lagerback and SE and want to see them win games at the WC.

I will not judge Lagerback too much as he really as not have much time to prepare and be justly assessed for his work.

But I PITY THE FOOOOL that comes on NL to start praising Lagerback unjustly by using lame examples or keeps quiet/rationalise when criticism is due because of white-arse kissing.
i am waiting on that too, i just hope he doesn't fail, all in all, i still don't want any white coach as our coach, after the worldcup, he should be freed to go back to his country, by then, most of the old legs would have announced their retirements, then we can get Siasia, Keshi, or any other Nigerian coach who's ready to put up with Nigerians and NFF so that we can start preparing for 2011 nations cup, 2014 worldcup with players from the U-17, U-20, U-23 and few from the current squad.

Dr Kitaun:
Who cares about Amodu or Lager ?

Let the boys get on with it ! If Amodu were tired why didnt he just resign ? To hell with him, he's a bloody failure not to have handled d press well, exactly why Maradona cant suceed !

Osaze and Martins right to criticize the coach when they could not deliver WHEN IT MATTERED MOST? U just love to argue blindly !

Even Lagerback has fared well with naysaying pressmen . . .BTW Amodu wouldnt have gone thru more than ERIKSSON or even homeboy McLAREN went thru, no ?
And how did he fail? define failure please undecided

he handled the press same way Mourinho handles the press, is Mourinho a failure too?

Since it's not Amodu, he's not a puppet

Since he's not Amodu, no player was "forced" on him

Since he's not Amodu, he has been able to give us a "pattern" of play

since he's not Amodu, the SE have "played" better than any other time Amodu was in charge

Since he's not Amodu, we have been able to successfully and tactically played draws with "heavyweights" like Saudi Arabia and Colombia

Since he's not Amodu, the team selection have been "top notch"

Since he's not Amodu, players with "merit" have been picked ahead of players with "Injury"

Largerback, NFF and the anti-Amodu have alot to prove to me, until Largerback is able to prove me wrong by achieving more than what Amodu achieved so far during the qualifiers, i won't stop scrutinizing his decisions and that of the NFF.
