Crime / Re: Why We Kill Nigerians In South Africa And Middle East by Horjay12(f): 8:29am On May 16, 2018
Idonmakeam:
Nigerians are having a terrible time, especially in the last few years, life has been extremely difficult for the vast majority of Nigerians with the exception of those in politics. Whilst herdsmen are relentless in their massacre, extreme hunger, poverty, general insecurity have become a norm in the country. As if these issues are not bad enough, right this minute as you read this article, thousands of Nigerian girls are living and working under horrendous conditions in the Middle East and North Africa where their Arab hosts, enslave them under unbelievable conditions without pay.

The internet is inundated with heart breaking stories of African girls from Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia and others currently being held in Arab homes as domestic and sex slaves. Many of these girls do not return from those Arab countries alive. They are killed and buried in shallow graves and their stories are never told.

The authorities in those countries turn a blind eye on the modern day slavery going on in their domain as Africans are more or less regarded as slaves unworthy of sitting on the same table with an Arab person. The inhuman treatments are not only restricted to Africans, many people may still recall the viral story of an Indian domestic worker in Saudi Arabia whose right hand was chopped off by her employer. The India woman had managed to phone her family back in India informing them of the terrible maltreatment she was going through in the hands of her employer, when the Saudi house wife found out that ‘her’ slave had reported them to her family in India, she was infuriated and chopped off the domestic worker’s right hand. The Indian woman’s family said, the woman was not allowed to make phone calls and was often starved, in addition to several hours of non stop work everyday.

Many poor Nigerian ladies make their way to these Ar...read on @ https://whistletimes.com/2018/05/16/nigerians/

Popular Nigerian blogger, Lizzy Oke who had an accident in 2008 that confined her to a wheelchair, is pregnant.

The happy wife took to her blog to announce that she is expecting a baby boy with her husband, and many of her readers and visitors have been congratulating her ever since.

See her post below;

Hello world!
As the saying goes, first comes LOVE, then comes MARRIAGE, and then comes… a BABY!

After months of keeping this great news to ourselves, we are very excited to share with you that we are expecting a baby!

Ya girl is pregnant, Spinal Cord Injury and all, and all the glory belongs to God.

I have been enjoying all of the ups and not so “ups” that come with being pregnant and I truly only have God to praise.

From missing my period, to our first at home pregnancy test, the first doctor’s appointment, the first ultrasound, first heartbeat, first flutters and kicks, up till the excitement of finding out our baby’s gender and my joy to start a baby registry, we have been on an all time HIGH!

As I type this, I’m thinking back to the nights my husband and I have spent just being in awe of this new life growing inside of me as a result of our love, and it’s still so surreal!

I will have more videos on my youtube channel detailing the pregnancy journey so far and going forward, but for now, enjoy this pregnancy announcement post and video below. Love y’all.

Family / Re: Would It Be Wise To Marry This Kind Of Person ? by Horjay12(f): 9:16pm On May 14, 2018
[quote author=Guitarlife post=67559447]Dear Nairaland family,
There is an issue that I would love matured and experienced people on here to advise me on.
Its really tricky and deep, I would appreciate objective and unbiased analysis.
I am currently engaged to a lady in her late twenties, I am in my early thirties.

So the lady is decent , godly, nice , homely and all that but I seem to have an issue with her personality.
I am a very widely read, and exposed young man, very ambitious and hardworking but I am also deeply traditional.

I believe a man is the head of the home, do not misquote me. I am not a chauvinist I just believe men are the leaders
and women also have their own unique roles.
Lastly I believe a woman should excercise some restraint in criticising decisions taken by the man. I found out that the audacity with which my fiance criticises or corrects me doesnt show respect and that consciousness that I am her prospective husband. Like, the manner I will correct my mom is quite different from how I would correct my younger sister isnt it?

I try as much as possible to respect my woman by the way and I accomodate her differences and also respect her opinions
but it appears she just cant resist the urge to express herself to me whenever she disagrees with me on some issues.
I believe a woman should not be this insistent and also a woman should very flexible and tolerable. The manner she
makes herself heard when we disagree on issues bothers me alot.

I am wondering if she will not stand up to me when we get married. I am not ready to marry my equal, I prefer to marry a
woman who would give me full respect and respect my decisions even if she does not agree with them.

Lastly, I tested my fiance with a tricky issue. I told her I do not like church wedding that if it was left to me I would
prefer for us to have just court wedding. Acutally we are a bit tight on finances and it would be a great idea to save as
much as we could . Surprisingly my fiance stated that "thank God it is not left to you, me I want to do church wedding".

The question I am asking myself now is if we get married and it gets to a point where we both find ourselves in a situation where
we need to make a compromise I pressume I might find it difficult getting her to make the compromise. I strongly feel
she will give me issue when it comes to authority.

I would love to be in charge of my own home. I may not have communicated the way I'd have loved to cos am rushing to type this
but for the few people who really understand my fear, do you think these fears are genuine or they are not.

Thank you very much.
[/quot
you must first understand your difference, don't think that you re the leader that you need to be ordering her around. you can't be in charge of your home alone, you both need to be in charge. in you need help.

Education / Re: Wealthy Overseas Nigerian Students Fight Over Whose Dad Is The Richest by Horjay12(f): 8:48pm On May 14, 2018
evanso6226:
Two wealthy Nigerian students battered a classmate with a shisha pipe as they rowed over whose dad was the richest.

Elvis Ilonze, 20, who is so rich he had his Mercedes covered in fur, attacked childhood pal Prince Nnaji at their home in Brighton. Ilonze then chased his friend down along with Daniel Oluyemi, 24, as he tried to flee before beating him with a wine bottle.

They also attacked law student Chiedozie Dibiagwu, 23, who was sat on a chair nearby, and pushed Mr Nnaji's girlfriend Louanna Rayawa to the ground. Ilonze and Oluyemi were both spared jail today after admitting two counts of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

They were instead handed a one-year prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, at the Old Bailey following the attack on April 7 last year. .

The court was told Mr Nnaji and Ilonze had known each other from when they were in Nigeria but Ilonze decided to teach his pal a "lesson" after he said he had the richer father.

"Privileged" Ilonze came to the UK to study a four-year Masters of Engineering degree at The University of Sussex, and is one year away from completing his course.

His lawyer Tom Hoskins pleaded with the judge not to sentence him to more than one year in prison as he would face deportation. Oluyemi, who is training to become an accountant at the same university, is expecting a child later this year.

His barrister, Johnathan Page, said that the right place for him is at home, preparing for the "momentous occasion". The judge said: 'Unlike many of the people who pass through the courts you both come from, effectively, backgrounds of privilege.

It couldn't be more childish, effectively an insult on somebody's parents - who's got the richer dad - that started this fight. You both appear to be incredibly immature, perhaps as a result of being cosseted in your upbringing.'

Simi Is In Trouble For Stealing From Me - Prof. Uwaifo

Days after her boyfriend, Adekunle Gold, called out Nollywood for using his songs without consent, legendary musician, Sir Victor Uwaifo, has said singer Simi is in trouble for "stealing" his intellectual property, 'Joromi'.

Professor Uwaifo's recognition soared when his song 'Joromi' became a hit in 1969. However, he says the song has now become a victim of intellectual property theft as Simi failed to give credit to him when she released her own version in 2017.

Uwaifo made this known in an interview with SaharaReporters at the Annual General Meeting of Copyright Society of Nigeria COSON, in Lagos.

The former commissioner for arts and culture in Edo State described copyright and Intellectual property theft as a very serious issue in Nigeria, saying it must be dealt with urgently as it is reducing the creativity of the new generation of musicians.

According to him, the process of making music has now significantly changed from what it used to be in his time, as “more mediocres” are now in the game.

Celebrities / Re: 10 Look-alike Celebrities: The Last One You Will Be Definitely Confused. by Horjay12(f): 2:14am On May 12, 2018
WILLIAMSKECH:
Often times, when two celebs look-alike, the one who attained fame first is most times seen as the original while the next is tagged an imposter or a duplicate. This may not be the case in this list, they are all originals, unique to themselves.
Here are some well-known Nigerian entertainers and their carbon copies. None of these people are related but the resemblance is just striking. Check them out!
1. Chioma and CeeC
These 2 ladies are almost like twins. Same look but different fate. CeeC is struggling with ‘pain’ now, however Chioma is spoiled by his man.
2. Femi Kuti and Kalu Ikeagwu
When two guys are just handsome in a particular way, they tend to look-alike. If Kalu was a westerner, then there might be a possibility that Fela’s music gene evolved into an acting offspring.
3. Genevieve Nnaji and Ivie Okujaye
It’s got to be the eyes or the lips. From the lips to the eyes, Genevieve and her industry twin are just a duplicate of themselves. Beautiful and forever young! plus they both have the same kind of glow.
4. May D and Adekunle Gold
Can you see their lips? Dark and similarly shaped. Seems like May D just cleared the way for his younger bro, Gold to take over.
5. Akua Tokunboh and Yinka Davies
Quite a striking resemblance between these two. They either look like siblings or mother and daughter. Don’t ask me who the mother is!. They don’t exactly share the same career like most celebrity look-alikes that have been mentioned. Yinka Davies is a vocalist and lyricist and also a judge in the popular reality show Nigerian Idol. On the other hand, Akua Tokunboh is a beauty queen of Ghanaian and Nigerian descent who won Miss Ghana USA in 2014.
6. Davido and Sean Tizzle
They are both in the dancehall industry and have got almost the same looks. Sean Tizzle came into the Nigerian music scene with a familiar look likened to that of Davido. Although Sean is now fairer and has got pink lips, courtesy of skin whitening creams, the singer still looks like his brother from another mother, Davido.
7. 2baba and Joe El
Coincidentally, Joe El rose to stardom as a Kennis Music artist, the same record label that brought his look-alike, 2Baba (Tu Face) to the limelight. Joe El has said in many interviews that he is always mistaken to be 2Baba by many.
8. Ade Bantu and Bryan Okwara
Although one is older and the other is finer, Ade Bantu and Bryan Okwara have a striking resemblance. The look-alikes are both in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
9. Uti Nwachukwu and Gbenro Ajibade
Call them hot chocolates! Uti and Gbenro used to be one Nigerian celebrity duo that knew just how to rock dreads. However, after Gbenro’s traditional marriage in 2015, he decided to leave the boys haircut for a more manly low-cut but that didn’t stop him from sharing facial similarities with the Jara host. Not only are they lookalikes, they are both close pals. Were you also one of those who mistook them to be brothers? well, you’re not alone. Uti and Gbenro share lots of similarities from their dark skin to their body structure.
10. Nneka and Di’ja
The last but certainly not the least on our list are entertainers Di’ja and Nneka. Looking at the picture above, it is most certainly safe to say that Di’ja has also got a twin! Coincidentally, these two singers are naturalists and look way younger than their age.
What do you think? Which of these celebrity pairs have the most striking resemblance?
it's like fate s on the side of these celebrities. some gives joy and to others it brings sadness but still their life must continue.

Nairaland / General / Re: 2 Things To Check In Your Life, If Things Are Not Going Well by Horjay12(f): 1:28am On May 12, 2018
Adieza:
Why Does A Bucket Of Water Gets Heavier?

It is easy to carry a 10 liters bucket of water for 20 meters. Right? Now carry the same bucket of water for 1 kilometer. The bucket starts getting heavier and heavier as you go along. Did the bucket really got heavier or you got weaker? Why did you get weaker? Because you didn't prepare hard enough for the exercise.

If you think your life is not going well. The fact is, it is your fault. You have to take responsibility for it. This is very hard talk coming from me because I have gone through hard times myself. Most of the bad things that happened to me were my fault.

For one thing, I was not prepared enough for some things I did. Sometimes, I didn't have the knowledge. Or I didn't listen to sound advice or ignore lesson learned from past experience. Later on the bucket got too heavy and I had difficulty to carry it. I took responsibility for it and did my post-mortem examination and fix the problem and moved on. I know it wasn't witches, spirit or any other thing. Most of the time, the cure was to go back to the drawing board.

If you are over 30 years old, chances are, you are not prepared enough to carry your life bucket of water. You will stay poorer as you get older. The reason is you are not prepared for wealth. Pray all you want. I can guarantee it. But however, you still have a chance.

“Opportunity comes to the prepared mind.”
— Charlie Munger

If you are under 30 then you need to listen carefully. The day you were born you started dying already, whether you like it or not. The question is, how soon would you die. God doesn't make the exception for you or me. It is nature and the cycle of life. The question is what do you want to do before you die.

What is the point of being alive, if you don’t at least try to do something remarkable?
– John Green

If you feel your life is not going towards the right direction there are two things you must do today.

1) Change your friends.
There is a saying: Show Me Your Friends and I Will Show You Your Future.
You are either a person under the yoke of bad friends or you are a bad friend. How do you know this? If your life is not going like you want and you feel you cannot change your friends then it is possible you might be the bad friend that is stopping the others from moving ahead in life, It could be you that needs changing for the rest to move forward.

2) Start taking massive actions.
There is nothing like massive action. Anything in the universe will break if you put massive action to it.

Unfortunately, most of our people don't understand this concept.
