patches689: No offense
Why would Cameroon ask you to train their men in COIN when you yourselves send men overseas for COIN training?
Please dont take offense at this, but, just because you have been doing something for a long time, does not necessarily mean you are good at it (this applies to everyone and everything and I am not saying that Nigeria is bad at COIN) REGULAR INFANTRY |

agaugust: . The original purpose of this photo thread is to promote African military and security forces and prove to the world that we are not the incapable continent that the rest of the world think we are in military performance.
When the Boko Harm-Chibok girls kidnap happened in 2014, America and Europe insisted that Nigerian military needs their air forces to help Nigeria find the girls, but Nigeria replied that we may be blacks, but here in Africa we have air force technology equal to the best in NATO air forces and makes NAF aircraft equally capable as USAF/RAF in doing world class ISTAR operations to find the Chibok girls anywhere they may be hidden in Nigeria.
The western powers deliberately and fraudulently insisted Nigeria has no such capability and we were accused of nonchalant attitude to the kidnap saga, even small NATO countries that have no armed drones and ISTAR aircraft in the class of Nigeria, were boasting that they can help Nigeria with the equipment they themselves do not even have.
Heavy pressure of global politically motivate #BringBackOurGirls campain forced Nigeria to accept 'foreign help' in the ISTAR operations.
It became a drama to prove who is superior between USAF Predator drones/UAVs, RAF Sentinel R1 aircraft (reputed as the world's best ISTAR platform), and NAF ATR-42 Surveyor.
At different times, each air force carried out the search for as long as they wanted, they all achieved the same result. Nobody's ISTAR technology proved superior to the others. USAF, RAF, NAF all got same results, Chibok girls not found.
This thread showcases African military at their best of capabilities in photos, with some little details of information attached to explain the photos if necessary.
In line with the standard rule/format of this forum/thread, I posted the NAF ATR-42 Surveyor ISTAR aircraft as an African pride, with highlights of it's awesome world class capabilities attached to it, I have no need of posting any proof of the data that is already freely available all over the internet, I have no need to promote Italian manufacturers technical data/specs sheet, we are not here to do marketing for any private company.
The four people here, who stoop up against my post on ATR-42 should be ashamed that they reacted in that offensive manner to an African pride of a platform, if I had said the ATR-42 Surveyor aircraft with that long list of capabilities belongs to Japan, those four people will not question it.
Well, I will clear the air for the world to see. Here are manufacturers official technical data sheets for the NAF ATR-42 Surveyor, it's radar is 407 km range or 220 NM, it has air to sea, air to land/ground, air to air modes, 360 degree view, 200 targets multIple scan, it is built for primary MPA/ISTAR and secondary AWACS role. Anyone with further personal problems with NAF ATR-42 surveyor capabilities can go do personal research at home and stop disturbing the peaceful flow on this photo thread.
Thank you all, long live Africa ! . Keep up the good work |

patches689: Nope.
Pointing out the following:
- it does not have the parts commonality you suggested - it is not combat tested - it has not even been mass produced - its acquisition is speculation
Has nothing to do with bias. It has everything to do with correcting your incorrect statements.
If Nigeria were buying the Z-10, Ka-50, Mi-28, Tiger or one of the plethora of American helo's I wouldnt have much negative to say.
But the T129?
Its a light weight recon helo, with limited range and weapons load, no combat testing, limited operational testing AND Nigeria would the last in line to get your hands on one since the turks have another 30 or so to produce to complete their own domestic order. I think u should try to comprehend what others are saying before u quote them....u should review ur approach to issues too,ur comments r totally out of context |

patches689: First, Turks purchased the missiles from China as they were significantly cheaper and the chinese offered a tech transfer* *guess who will be interested in the technology (the rest of NATO)
Second, the T129 uses the LHTEC CTS800-4N engine - this is only found on the Super Lynx and AW159 Wildcat of which Nigeria has neither.
Third, it is not combat tested and has not even seen extensive production yet.
Fourth, this is all speculation. I really don't get your point |

stillchris: This is not a d1ck measuring contest, but i'm very proud of our military right now. even though the international community and media refuse to acknowledge it (since good news coming out of Africa is not good for business), i will not be decieved.
The Nigerian military has set a record by rescuing 600 captives with just one casualty from a terrorist stronghold known for it's extremely difficult terrain. sambisa is almost free. This in less than a week.
Abeg, 1 million gbosa to our boys in uniform. I'm also surprised at the low publicity this hostage rescue thing received....this effort seems to have received low acknowledgement because of the chibok girls issue |
