Iran triumphantly displayed one of America’s most advanced intelligence-gathering aircraft on Thursday after a spy drone crashed on its territory, leading Russia and China to ask to inspect its technology.

The RQ-170 Sentinel, supposedly the CIA’s unseen “eye in the sky”, capable of beaming back a trove of imagery and electronic intercepts, was broadcast on Iranian state television.

The aircraft was shown beneath an Iranian flag, apparently intact after crashing 140 miles inside the country last Sunday. State television claimed that an electronic attack had forced it down by overriding  systems. American officials acknowledged the loss of the aircraft, but said it was more likely the drone had simply crashed.

Russia and China immediately seized their chance to gain a unique insight into one of the world’s most powerful intelligence assets, asking Iran for permission to inspect the drone. Surveillance  over Iran by CIA-operated aircraft of this kind have been taking place for several years, using bases in neighbouring Afghanistan. Iran’s nuclear installations are believed to be the prime target.

The Sentinel, which entered service in 2009, is capable of both intercepting communications and gathering images. No Sentinels are known to have been lost before. Unlike other drones used by the CIA, notably the Predator and the Reaper, the Sentinel carries no weapons and its sole purpose is reconnaissance.

If Russia and China are allowed to inspect the Sentinel, their goal would be to identify - and then replicate - its advanced technology. Elizabeth Quintana, an expert on unmanned air vehicles at the Royal United Services Institute, said they would be particularly interested in the drone’s ability to evade detection by radar.

This “stealth technology” is also used by the most advanced “fifth generation” fighters in service with the US Air Force, notably the F-22 Raptor. “The Chinese and the Russians are looking to emulate the US fifth generation fighters,” said Ms Quintana. “The Chinese are very keen to replicate any American technologies and they are coming along in leaps and bounds.”

They would also want to study the RQ-170’s sensors, which allow it to keep large areas under surveillance while the drone loiters, undetected, at an altitude of 50,000 feet. The Russians and Chinese would also focus on its electronic eavesdropping capabilities and the mission systems that allow the aircraft to be guided and controlled.

In 2001, China managed to get hold of a P-3 Orion reconnaissance aircraft, operated by the US Navy, when it was forced down after a mid-air collision. This allowed China to develop counter-measures to the surveillance systems carried by the Orion, forcing the US to upgrade its entire fleet.

Ms Quintana said the American would be worried about the possibility of the “same thing happening” in respect of the Sentinel. It was “standard procedure” for US forces to recover or destroy any drones that are lost, she added. This aircraft appears to have gone down too far inside Iran for any such operation to be feasible.

Russia and China have relatively cordial relations with Tehran, although they allowed the United Nations to pass four resolutions imposing sanctions on Iran.

The Iranian armed forces are likely to use their possession of the drone as a bargaining counter and to seek concessions from Russia and China in return for allowing inspections. But Iran could lack the expertise needed to examine the Sentinel and reverse engineer its technology. Peter Singer, director of the 21st Century Defence Initiative at the

Brookings Institution, said: “What the Iranians are getting from this is symbolic and a shift in the discussion from their nuclear programme and taking over foreign embassies. They are not able to do a lot of reverse engineering on their own, but they have certain nations they have cooperated with in the past.  from Moscow and Beijing to Tehran have I’m sure been full this week.”

China will also be interested in the drone’s engine, added Mr Singer. “The ability to reverse engineer and understand how our aircraft work means the Chinese could build their own derivatives which would be an improvement on what they have now,” he said. The Sentinel is believed to fly at 500-600 mph, compared with the 100mph maximum of the better known Predator.

Some American experts suggested that Iran’s display of an apparently undamaged drone could have been faked, pointing to the four days that elapsed after its loss. “What I’m looking at is a parade float,” said John Pike, director of Global Security.org. “Why did it take so long to show it?”

Drones carry crucial advantages that justify the risk of using them over hostile countries. Satellites orbiting the earth can only cover their targets for relatively short - and predictable - time windows. Drones can loiter for extended periods, beaming back live pictures.

Prosecutors announced Wednesday that they will no longer pursue the death penalty against former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal, meaning he will spend the rest of his life in prison for gunning down a white police officer nearly 30 years ago.

The decision by District Attorney Seth Williams, made with the support of the officer's widow and the city police commissioner, comes after nearly 30 years of legal battles over the racially charged case.

Abu-Jamal was convicted of fatally shooting Philadelphia police Officer Daniel Faulkner on Dec. 9, 1981. He was sentenced to death after his trial the following year.

Abu-Jamal, a one-time journalist who has been incarcerated in a Pennsylvania prison, has garnered worldwide support from those who believe he was the victim of a biased justice system. Hundreds of vocal supporters and death-penalty opponents regularly turn out for court hearings in his case, even though Abu-Jamal is rarely entitled to attend.

His message resonated particularly on college campuses and in the movie and music industries — actors Mike Farrell and Tim Robbins were among dozens of luminaries who used a New York Times ad to advocate for a new trial, and the Beastie Boys played a concert to raise money for Abu-Jamal's defense fund.

His conviction was upheld through years of legal appeals. But a federal appeals court ordered a new sentencing hearing after ruling the instructions given to the jury were potentially misleading.

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to weigh in on the case in October. That forced prosecutors to decide if they wanted to again pursue the death penalty through a new sentencing hearing or accept a life sentence.

The officer's widow, Maureen Faulkner, has tried to remain visible over the years to ensure that her husband is not forgotten. They were newlyweds when he died.

According to trial testimony, Abu-Jamal saw his brother scuffle with the 25-year-old patrolman during a 4 a.m. traffic stop in 1981 and ran toward the scene. Police found Abu-Jamal wounded by a round from Faulkner's gun. Faulkner, shot several times, was killed. A .38-caliber revolver registered to Abu-Jamal was found at the scene with five spent shell casings.

Abu-Jamal, born Wesley Cook, turned 58 earlier this year.

His writings and radio broadcasts from death row made him a cause celebre and the subject of numerous books and movies. His own 1995 book, "Live From Death Row," describes prison life and calls the justice system racist and ruled by political expediency.

Over the years, Abu-Jamal has challenged the predominantly white makeup of the jury, instructions given to jurors and the statements of eyewitnesses. He has also alleged ineffective counsel, racism by the trial judge and that another man confessed to the crime.

I didn't said melanin producing capability, I said they don't have enough melanin PERIOD. All human have melanin, even albinos otherwise the brain will not work, but they don't have enought of it.

It has been proven that they have lower levels of the melanin producing gene compared to other tropical groups as a result of their adaptations to colder climates therefore it will be extremely difficult if not impossible for them to produce  a gene that has been "bred" in the opposite direction.

The same goes for Black African people that live in Africa. It would pratically impossilbe for two Dinka natives to produce  a child that lacks the hard coded melanin producing gene to produce very dark skin minus an "albino" defect which is a complete absence of the ability to pigment.

PS Africans like other human beings have varying levels of melanin producing capabilities which is why like every other grou on this planet also have varying degrees of pigmenttation.

Those who sell and resell hairs are interrested in money only. There are numerous stories about people in parts of world being kidnapped & having their hair forcibly cut off & stolen by gangs to resell them. Some hair does come from dead peoples corpses. There is hair, taken from living people, that are filthy, full of nits & lice, or from people with a disease. But the hair is cleaned so nobody knows any different once it's packaged. The UK and US militaries have been developing new biological weapons which are capable of terminating certain races, a Middle East expert tells Press TV.

"They (the US and UK military establishments) even developed a black-only bomb that targeted the Afro-gene. There is even talk now that there may be one for the Chinese gene," Peter Eyre, a Middle East consultant, said in a recent interview with Press TV.

Eyre described the sinister project as "absolutely insane," adding the work on such weaponry initially started in former Rhodesia [modern day Zimbabwe] by the UK government, but was then transferred to South Africa [by then UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher] when the former British colony declared independence.

The analyst went on to say that the US and UK have not only amassed a huge stockpile of biological and chemical weapons but also provided dictatorial regimes around the world to use and develop such lethal weapons.

The above simply demosntrates that you really are not familar with what you are trying to imply. Ancient African groups that lived 100,000 years ago did not look like Contemporary African groups. As populations move and interact with their enviroments, they bottle neck and begin to form similar genotypical and phenotypical traits. Subsequent movements carry certain genotypes with them which form additional variations as they continue to interect with the environment. The traits that sustain and promote survival will be retained by the populations. There is a reason why an Arid dwelling African would exhibit predominat traits of longer limb proprotions and a slimmer build in comparison to a more robust rainforest  farming African. There a reason why an arctic dwelling wolf woul exihibit white fur skin compared to a savannah dwelling Wolf which would retain fur that is adapeted to its enviroment.

You are often trying to change my words to make it seem that I said what I didn't said and this is not honesty. Dont go in all kind of directions and stay focused and specific on the subject. In the contrary I am really familar with what I imply because I never said that 100% of animals or humans have developed melanin in cold environment, I only show you that some animals or some groups of human have melanin even in a cold environment. so melanin is not specific to hot emvironmement only. And concerning animals I was not talking about the fur specifically, I was talking about the skin underneath  the fur. I said that :If you shave the hair off a polar bear, the skin beneath is black, even in a cold environment. Now If you shave the hair off a monkey, the skin beneath is white, even in a hot environment. (Do your research). Concerning the black tribe with slanted eyes here again you didn't bother to even look at the picture that I posted. This picture was taken in China and it cleary show you a black original chinese with blue/black skin, whooly hair and big lips.

The polar bear analysis that was done by the Discovery Channel helps prove my point.  If you shave the hair off a polar bear, the skin beneath is black.  In nature the skin of the polar bear is black to absorb as much heat and light as possible to keep the arctic animal warm in its environment.  It is also true for the Eskimo (Inuit) who have a lot of melanin even in a very cold environment. Asian people are only the semi-recessive descendants of their ancestors who were a black African tribe with slanted eyes. The man on left (Picture) is the original Chinese of China.
