Travel / Re: 10 People You Will Meet In A "Danfo" Bus by houseoffufu(m): 5:57am On Sep 11, 2014
1. Woman who let her young child relieve himself on the floor. We were travelling up and down hills, up, down, and sideways All trying to lift shoes and bags as this small flood moved from side to side.
2. Pick up woman with big enamel bowl from the side of the road. The bowl was full of grilled forest snails, big ones. I look and say no no. My friend, he purchased one stick. I doze and fall asleep for a while. I wake up some maybe 30 minutes and this guy is STILL chewing on maybe that first snail. I ask, is that good? He answers, yes, but it's a little tough LWKMD!!

Culture / Re: Igbo In The 1700's by houseoffufu(m): 5:41am On Sep 11, 2014
Aquino's book is interesting. Read it years ago. I think the great Igbo historian Adele Afigbo even wrote a couple of papers that linked Aquino's book to Igbo traditions. Toyin Falola (Yoruba, I think) has edited and published several books of Afigbo's essays, which are published in Nigeria (!!) For anyone interested in Igbo culture and history, please consult Afigbo. You'll be lifted.
Food / Re: What Is The Best Type Of Marijuana You Have Ever Had (smokers Only) by houseoffufu(m): 5:24am On Sep 11, 2014
Weed is pretty much legal where I live, so you can walk into a dispensary and have a choice of 20 or 30 types. They keep coming up with new strains and crossbreeds. But sour diesel, as some have said, is pretty good. Had some grapefruit kush just the other day that was really strong and tasted just like grapefruit. The one thing that I had recently was what's called wax here that was made from kush. The stores test the stuff and it came in at 50 percent THC, which is 2 or 3 times hash. God bless Nigeria, but California US is pretty cool too!!
Food / Re: How Do I Kill A Catfish? - Please Help!!! by houseoffufu(m): 5:04am On Sep 11, 2014
Just chop the head off. You need to take the skin off though. Catfish skin is like leather. You can't eat that skin and it tastes like dirt. Best thing is get some pliers and pull it off in one piece like you're taking off a sock. But be CAREFUL, catfish has sharp fins that will cut you and the cuts get infected quick. When you're done, if you can, soak in milk for a bit in the refrigerator or on ice. That takes some of the mud taste out of the fish which always sits at the bottom of the river.
Food / Re: Dose This Have An English Name? by houseoffufu(m): 4:19am On Sep 11, 2014
In English it's just called white chalk. I've seen it in markets in Togo and Ghana where it's called ye (with a high tone) in Ewe, but there it's sold in rolls or thick sticks. It's eaten by pregnant women. Also, the eating of it is referred to as geophagia or, more generally as pica, which refers to the eating of non-food things (clay, dirt, laundry starch and so on). Popular belief is that it contains valuable mineral nutrients, but that has yet to be proven scientifically in the literature.
Autos / Re: Meet The Six Bulletproof Cars You Can Buy by houseoffufu(m): 3:42am On Aug 28, 2014
I just don't know...shouldn't we be shopping for a bullet proof society? Instead of giving praise to the cars of bullet fleeing gangsters and their political cronies?
Celebrities / Re: Powerful Photos Of Women Who Changed History Forever. by houseoffufu(m): 3:32am On Aug 28, 2014
chulla12: I guess Black women didn't change much in the world?

Objectively speaking....I would say Black American women were instrumental too in changing history.

An iconic photo of a black american lady attending an 'all white' school in Arkansas in light of de-segregation laws during the civil rights movement:

Great photo. Thanks for sharing that. She was one of the Little Rock (Arkansas) Nine who were the first 9 teenagers admitted in a previously all white school. They had a pretty hard time of it with some mean people and the FG had to call out the National Guard to protect them and even drive them back and forth from school. I think there's a video interview on YouTube with the young lady in the pic, 35 or 40 years later, but I can't find the link. She downplays it, but she was certainly pretty darn courageous!!
Nairaland / General / Re: How To Post Your Own Topic On Nairaland by houseoffufu(m): 3:02am On Aug 28, 2014
Hi Nairaland,

I understand that new folk cannot post new topics until they watch, learn and participate. But when I try to post a comment and participate, especially a nice, harmless one, I'm told to check back in a week. Is this a ban because of something I tried to post or just SOP (standard operating procedure)? And I apologize if I may be posting this very post incorrectly. Thanks! Just trying to figure it all out so I can be a good citizen of this site that I enjoy so much!
